Due to a mishap with a car and a garage door, we had to have a new floor laid it the garage in order to get doors to be able to fully shut and seal. Paul was always the one to drive over the city to the other side to get to our home and do the estimates. He always called back after we left messages. He listened carefully, explained his thinking thoroughly and didn't take shortcuts. We waited about 6 weeks for this to happen, but that was fine. Once here, they were courteous, all of them, and they did this all within a day. They were neat and courteous of the lawn and surrounding area. He came back the next day to do some sawcuts as well as put some more sealer on the garage floor. When I called back a couple of weeks later to say it didn't look like sealer was put in all areas, they came out no questions asked and put another coat on. Paul's goal is the customer's happiness and a job done right. We were very impressed. It was painful to have to spend all this money due to a mishap but they made the new one look great and we are happy.

Work Crew was very professional. The owner worked with the crew. showed up when they said they would. They took pride in the product that they delivered.

It went really well. Paul responded quickly to my request for an estimate. I had to delay installation for a few weeks so we agreed upon a date and he was there right on time. They got it all done in two days as promised. A worker came back the next day for the finishing touches. Paul even picked up a part and came back to cap one of the underground sprinkler heads. I was particularly impressed when one of the workers asked me to turn on the outside water. I asked him to come in the house and do it and he said he needed to check with Paul before he came in.

It was great. The only reason we haven't used him yet is because we decided to hold off until next year. Then, we will use him. He was professional, punctual and experienced.

This is a totally efficient company. They came on time, worked hard and long. Had to jack hammer out the front step and sidewalk plus apron on the driveway. Removed all the blacktop and had all the right equipment and a wonderful crew of six. Showed up on time the next morning at 7:30 to be ready for the cement truck. It was a big job and I am very pleased with everything.

They came right away and looked at the work. They were here later that day to form the work and were back the next day to pour the concrete. They did nice work and cleaned up well. I did not even know they were here. I would definitely recommend them to others.

I appreciated the quick response, allowing me to pursue other contractors. Paul was polite and timely in his response.

I had this work done in 2007. Paul showed up on time, whenever work was being done, he was here working, too. He was very easy to talk with and work out some driveway issues that I couldn't figure out. Then this fall (2008) I noticed some pitting in some areas of the driveway. I kept an eye on it for a few months to see if it got worse and it did a little, so I called Paul. He was great, didn't hesitate to say he'd come out and take a look at it and call me, which he did and said that if I wanted him to, he'd rip out the driveway and redo it. The driveway is not bad at all, but I may sell my house next spring, and I want to make sure the driveway looks great. After some thought I called Paul and said I'd like to wait until spring and see how it is then, and decide whether or not to have him redo it. My biggest point is this: in my 2008 call to him, he didn't hesitate to address my concerns, wasn't the least bit put off by my call, responded quickly and professionally about my year old driveway, and never once even hinted that it was in any way my fault. I appreciated that very much.

I picked this company solely on the high ratings given by previous Angie's List customers. Finding this company was worth a year's subscription. Paul Armstrong, the owner, is quiet and serious - don't expect a folksy sales pitch when he shows up to give you an estimate. He listened carefully to my thoughts on how much of the driveway I could afford to do this year, made a couple of good suggestions and gave me an estimate right away. I did get one other estimate by another company that was also rated highly by Angie's, but it was a bit higher. I know nothing about concrete. Both companies sounded good. I went with the less expensive one. Note: that's why I gave only a B for price above since I couldn't legitimately give you all A rating on Paul's pricing with only one other bid. My overall rating, however, is definitely A. When Paul showed up on construction day, he was followed by 3 huge trucks, all with his name and logo painted on the side and a lot of crew members - maybe a dozen. He's obviously committed to this business and has been successful. I gave him a check and left for work. When I came home, I had a brand new driveway. Mine has a couple of graceful curves which he reproduced beautifully. They were also careful not to damage any of my wife's plantings and flowers along the edge. They also applied a sealer before they left to enhance the drying and preserve the surface.

I called for an estimate and they were very prompt getting back to me with one. Their estimate was also very competitive. The owner, Paul Armstrong, was very professional. He told me he would be on site while the job was getting done. He worked with me to schedule a time when it would work for me to be there and a time that would work into their schedule.

Paul was very professional. We were having siding replaced at about the same time so he worked with the siding people to make sure the steps were fit in at the right time. Everything turned out great! We have had a lot of compliments on the walkway. It added a nice curb appeal.

They where actually remarkable. Everything was great they arrived at 7:30 in the morning and finished by 3 pm. Even the owner comes out and works on sight.

It went really well. They were here when they said they would be here and it all went well. We had one of the sections of the concrete crack and we called him back out and he fixed it and stood behind his work with no problems. We get compliments on our driveway now.

Paul Armstrong came out multiple times during the quoting process to answer questions and make proposals about the final layout. When we had agree to project, he came out with his crew the day before the job to prepare for the following day. Job started right on time, crew was extremely professional, and Paul personally works all the jobs, so he is no absentee project manager. During the job, some changes had to be made, and Paul was extremely helpful in outlining why the changes were warranted, and explained how changes would make completed job look even better than originally planned. Job came in on time and on budget. Great experience!

I called Paul and he came out to discuss my ideas. He had some good input, so I hired him to install the beginning of June. I had to postpone the project 2 months and he was very agreeable. The project was started August 4 and finished August 5. It is Beautiful!!!!!

Paul gave me an estimate. I was very impressed by his knowledge and a mile-long list of references. However, he proposed 1/2" thick of concrete while all others proposed 3-6". Plus, he can't do brick border for the driveway. Paul is professional, responsive, and punctual.

Armstrong Concrete did a great job, very courteous and professional. The owner came to do the estimate, and was the only company to notice that our stone flower bed was on top of the existing concrete slab. The finished product went above and beyond our expectations, and even included a little area that was not part of the original bid for no extra cost. In fact, the step that they capped included new footings in the estimate, but the existing concrete went far enough down that they were not needed. That cost was removed from the finished invoice. The job took two days, and at the end of day one everything was cleaned up extremely well, other than the molds for the concrete, there was no way to tell they had been here. They also asked me to close a few windows and move my car to keep dust away.

The price was higher than other estimates that we got, but the estimate contained more detailed information than the others--it wasn't just a price quote. Paul kept us informed throughout the work, letting us know that the project was delayed a bit because of extra time it took to get a city permit, and that weather kept them from working on one day. Communication was excellent. Work was done very quickly in about 10 hours over 3 days. Armstrong had 8 people working on the project so it went quickly. Quality of the work was excellent. The final bill was $200 less than the estimate because our driveway apron had changed slightly since the original estimate because Golden Valley had been doing street repair, curbs and gutters, and driveway aprons. Paul recalculated the bill based on that change--a change we never would have noticed. Armstrong minimized the size of the trench next to the driveway where the driveway was framed, so there's less area to be filled in with dirt. They kept the cement truck on the street and used wheelbarrows to transfer the cement to the driveway--a nice safety touch since our gutter, curb and driveway apron had dried for only about 2 weeks. No damage was done to those areas.

He was timely, pleasant and efficient. I was very pleased with his service and would hire him again without a doubt. I would also without a doubt recommend him to others.

We weren't home when he initially did the work last fall. He came back recent to move the soil that he had placed on the wrong side of the walkway. He brought his men to our home and moved it for no charge to me. I will definitely use him in the future.

Things went exactly as planned without a hitch. I was scheduled for Monday, but he called Friday morning and asked if he could do it right then, because of a last minute schedule change. They arrived at 9am and were done by 1pm. I know little about the science of concrete, but my brother-in-law, who just retired as Director of Public Works for a large Connecticut city, happened to be visiting. He knows everything about concrete and gave me his detailed critique of the job. They used the best possible quality of aggregate to provide a solid base for the pad. The slump (consistency) of the mix was just right and will provide maximum possible strength. They took extra time to drill holes in the edge of the existing slab, inserting rebars to connect to the new pour. This ensures that the new slab won't move vertically against the adjacent slab. They used rebar throughout the slab, which was not true of the original apron. Paul and his crew used excellent technique in working the concrete and were clearly very experienced. Paul and his crew were very pleasant, personable and professional. They were even good-humored about it when our idiot dog came running around the corner of the house and ran across the freshly poured slab. They just told a couple funny stories about previous run-ins with wildlife while they repaired the dog tracks. Paul took the time to carefully explain what curing times would be, when it would be safe to let the dog out again, when we could park on it, etc. His price was also on target. I got a price from one other A rated contractor and his price was 50% higher, just over $3,000, while Paul was just over $2,000.00. I would use Paul again in a heartbeat.

Paul and his crew tore out our old crumbling front steps and re-poured a new set. Being that the steps are over the old basement well room with nothing below to support them, it was a little trickier to remove and pour. They insured that everything was shored up from below (protecting the water pipes) and removed the old steps in pieces by hand, rather than driving across the lawn and garden with a skid steer as other contractors suggested. The new steps were poured to insure proper drainage (we've had several heavy rains since and they've always drained quickly) and are well supported with lots of rebar as well as framework underneath. The crew arrived promptly, and cleaned up after themselves, with minimal damage to lawn and landscaping. Entire job was completed in about 7 hours. I really appreciated that the owner (Paul) is also part of the working crew. I liked knowing that the person who gave the initial consultation and bid was there to communicate any special needs directly to the crew. It shows that he takes pride in his work.

I had taken three bids from different companies. I felt that this company had a more complete bid. They paid attention to what issues that we were dealing with and addressed them. They did the work when promised and we have not had any problems since. The price was high, but so was the quality of work.
