Description of Work: Demo and removal of existing driveway (double car width, 50 feet in length). Recompacting bed, repairing/replacing bearing course at the garage entry, and repouring the driveway. | |Went absolutely great. I had several firms do estimates, but Armstrong's quality was significantly better than the lower bidders. I do a lot of work that integrates with the construction trades, and I'm very articular about concrete work - Armstrong's projects (and they were happy to share local job locations for review) were easily on a par with the best commercial concrete work I've encountered. | | Paul Armstrong had done the estimate towards the end of the previous year's construction season, but he and I agreed we had a risk of not getting the job in before the first hard freeze. Paul very kindly offered to hold the bid amount for the following year's construction season - as volatile as material costs have been, this was a very welcome "bonus" to the bid. | |Paul worked closely with me on schedules, and even rescheduled once to accomodate an unexpected conflict. | |Day of, the crew was there, ready to work within minutes of the scheduled time. They were efficient, very attentive to detail, and finished ahead of schedule - at which point they did made a point of walking me through the days work and the upcoming plan (including contingency plans for weather). The pour was immaculate and (again) accomplished with no problems - as was the subsequent saw-cut relief and sealing (and I have to say it was some of the most precise relief cut work I've seen - *I* don't measure that closely for exterior work!) | |All in all, great work. Not necessarily the lowest bid you'll see, but the quality and professionalism of Paul and his crew make it worth every penny of any cost difference.

Description of Work: Poured new concrete steps in front of the house and replace a concrete patio slab off the back door. It went good...nice design of steps, very professional and worked hard, cleaned up nicely...got everything done in one 12 hour day.

Description of Work: Complete replacement of walkway made with pavers with colored, stamped concrete. No problems. Corrected drainage and other problems with walkway.

Description of Work: We used Armstrong Concrete several years ago and had a good experience then, so they were the first and only call I made. As before, Paul was right on schedule making the estimate, explained exactly what they proposed to do, and gave us a very fair estimate. Once again, the execution was perfect.

Description of Work: Concrete Sealing I made a email inquiry to find out if his company offered driveway and patio sealing services. I received a prompt and polite reply from Paul Armstrong. He indicated that his company did not provide this service, unless is was part of an new installation. He however did provided a good referral to a company that offered the service - complete with contact number and even a hyperlink to the company's website. I then followed up with another email to Mr. Armstrong asking some technical questions about what he would recomend for product and application methods, given his experience working with concrete. I was getting conflicting information from my internet research of the topic and wanted to get a pros opinion. I was suprised and impresssed when I received a very thoughtful email with a number of good suggestions and product recomendations. I can tell he is very knowlegeable and takes pride in his trade. This was great customer service and I was not even a customer! It was more than I expected and it helped me out. I plan to keep his contact info for future concrete needs.

Description of Work: They took out our asphalt driveway and they concrete it.

Description of Work: They replaced all my sidewalks, the front, the side of the house, and back all the way to the alley. First they had to dig up and remove all of the existing sidewalks, then frame them out. Then they poured and treated the concrete the way that would work best for me, and even covered it with special blankets for several days because the weather got colder the very next night. They were on time, very conscientious and did outstanding work. I would recommend them highly. The things I liked best was that they didn't bring a bunch of heavy equipment onto my lawns, but instead used wheelbarrows, etc. to remove the old concrete and pour the new. Also they were very neat and tidy about the job and seemed to work well together as a team. Also, something very special was that the owner, Paul, was so pleasant to work with and was willing to accommodate all that I wanted as well as doing some extra designing without charging me extra. He came out to meet with me and figured out what it would take and gave me an estimate and the bill was exactly that amount. Also, he isn't just the owner, he's on the job with the team of workers who are all exceptionally nice!

Description of Work: I called Monday morning the 11th of April and left a massage that I have a new front driveway and sidewalk replacement job that I need a bid on. Well here it is thursday the 14th and still no call back.

Description of Work: Paul Armstrong gave an estimate equal to or better than two competitors. He and his crew arrived on the day scheduled to remove the old asphalt driveway. The concrete pour for the next day was delayed from morning to afternoon due to rain and the crew was on time. When the concrete truck arrived (from a different contracted company), Paul and his crew poured some concrete and then felt it wasn't the proper mixture. Paul called a supervisor from the other company to inspect. Though Paul had probably never sent back a load of concrete, and though it meant he would need to pay his workers to clean up the unacceptable concrete and wait for the new load, he was concerned about the quality. Once the new load of concrete arrived, the crew went to work and finished the driveway the same day! They did a fantastic job and the driveway looks wonderful!

Description of Work: We had them estimate a side walk and steps. The price seemed fair so we signed a contract with them, they kept pushing the date of installation back and never performed the work. We ended up canceling the contract because we needed it done ASAP. Estimate $2500.

Description of Work: Paul came out to my house on Saturday to give me an estimate to do work on my house. It was to be replace the front steps and the walkway on the side of the house. Paul was by far the most professional and organized estimator I worked with. I opted to not have the work done at all, as other projects were more pressing, but when I do decide to have the work done, I'll have Paul and Armstrong Concrete do it. Top notch guy and very trustworthy.
