Absolutely Guaranteed Appliance Repair

Called him on the August 10th (Monday), after joining Angie's List. He called back and arranged to come out on Tuesday. Called us before he arrived. We had a washer that would not do a final spin and a gas dryer that would not dry (heat) the clothes. He replaced a part in the dryer and fixed the problem with the spin cycle in the washer in less than 1.5 hours. Of all my experiences he was by far the best repair person that I have used. Very knowledgeable!!!

Our washing machine started making a loud and unusual noise. I joined Angie's List for the first time and choose this company based on it's rating and the positive comments. Everything went very smoothly from initial contact with the company to completion of the work. Al diagnosed the problem immediately, had the replacement part in his van, and the job was done in less than 30 minutes.

Great guy. Came out when promised. Gave me advise and instuctions. Honest and dependable.

Al phoned first to let me know he was on his way, which I really appreciate. He diagnosed the problem quickly, got the part and replaced it. He checked the dryer vent outside to make sure there wasn't a bird's nest in it. The repair was very quick and easy, as I have come to expect from Al. He also did a very small other household repair for a small fee. I couldn't be more pleased with his service and advice. I wish I could find other service providers as good as Al Ligon! My refrigerator/freezer wasn't working Thursday night. I called Friday morning to see if anyone was available to come out that day to fix it. Al Ligons, company owner, was there a few hours later, fitting me in between customers. He fixed the problem quickly, being very careful to not hurt the wood floor. It was a very pleasant experience, given the frustration over losing everything in my freezer.

My built-in over was not heating accurately. Unfortunately, the replacement part needed is no longer made. He gave me options with cost estimates for each option. One was to discontinue work the other was to try a work aroung. I chose the work around to fix the part and and it worked to a limited degree. The oven temperature as recorded by a temperature reader inside the oven and the temperature reading on the oven actually got very close. I knew this was a temporary fix and that the oven would eventually need to be replaced. Unforturnately the fix was not long-lasting (something neither of us could predict), the next day when I tried to make biscuits, I could not get the oven above 225 degrees, it just took longer to make them, but I was continually having to check to see if they were done. A new oven is on it's way. In the end, I thought the guy explained everything, did what we agreed to, and I was happy with the service and would/will use him again if an appliance goes on the fritz.

He returned my call quickly; on this occasion he could not come out for a few days, but we have used him in the past and would rather wait for him than use another service! He found some small objects stuck in the pump, removed them, and was careful to make sure the problem was solved. He took care not to scratch our wood floor while he worked, and cleaned up well afterwards. He also went out of his way to help us find a replacement for a worn control panel on the dishwasher, at a very reasonable price.

I called and Al was extremely informative. He thought in most cases it's worth repairing. He said the charge to inspect is $65 applied to work. I told him the dryer was fairly old. I thought it worth the estimate to have him come out. He arrived promptly. I was struck by his personable, professional manner. He took apart the dryer, vacuumed, replaced the roller that was squeaking, and greased other parts. He also took time to explain other things that might go wrong and what they might cost. But he said this was worth the money. He also fixed a dial when I told him it was sticking. I highly recommend Al.

He gave me two choices as how to fix it: he could do his own fix his way(taking the old part and doing a procedure to it)or he could order the whole new part which would cost more. I opted for the first choice. He showed me that there was a cheaper, easier way to fix it. He was very, very polite. He called ahead of a time. He has very good communication skills. He was even willing to let me watch him do the repair and explained to me how it was done. He was neat and clean. He put everything back the way it was.

It was great. This guy works very quickly and in a cheerful manner. Cost is very reasonable. He knows what he is doing.

He did a wonderful job. He was on time, pleasant, clean and competent. He had a sense of humor and tolerated my kids and dog. Charged me less then two other companies I had a quote from. He is a keeper. He did a wonderful job fixing my front loader washing machine.

The owner/repairman was very congenial, trustworthy, and knowledgeable.

Very well. My side-by-side Kenmore refrigerator w/icemaker stopped cooling, melting freezer items and warming refrigerator items. This business was my second call after another highly ranked Angie's List company offered a visit 4 business days/5 calendar days from when I called and had no warranty on Kenmore brands. Al responded within an hour to my message and came to my house within 4 hours of my mid-morning call, calling approx.. 20 minutes beforehand to confirm. He was neat and professional in approach and manner, yet friendly, engaging and un-condescending. His easy-to-understand descriptions of my refrigerator's parts and systems could be printed as "Appliances For Dummies." Within an hour of asking me questions and checking things, he surmised one of three possibilities and asked if he should act on his highest-probability diagnosis and fix. But he also warned it could be one of the other possibilities. He estimated "about $180" for the repair; it was $181.30; fine with me. The initial fix worked... for a few hours. I left a message after dinner that evening and actually received a call back about 10:30 pm. We talked over what was happening and he had me look and listen to the refrigerator to better pinpoint the problem. He was excellent in describing where to look and what to listen for. We also agreed on a time for him to return the next day. He again arrived on-time (actually early, but he did call me to ask if it would be all right) for the return appointment. Al came with what he hoped was the right part (a compressor relay switch-- it was the right part) and got my 'fridge back to working-- including placing back against the wall-- within half an hour. This is what a good service call should be. Quick responses from the owner/actual repairer, no nonsense, friendliness, a can-do approach, and a reasonable fee. Al makes sure he lives up to his company's name of "Absolutely Guaranteed." Though Al requests more up-front information than some other repair places might, it's only to help him narrow the problem and make effective use of his (and your) time. Highly recommended for major appliance repair, given my experience.

I called him, and he came the next day to fix my dishwasher. He did a very good job at a good price.

I like that he is able to give you a lot of information up front, before he even makes the service call. He is honest and does not try to over sell you. I have used this company over the years and trust them.

He figured out the problems quickly. He fixed what he could from parts that he had with him and ordered parts while at my home for what he did not have. He came back within a few days to finish the work. He was knowledgeable and professional. He answered questions well.

Al called before he came and was punctual. When he had the dryer apart he showed me the part he replaced. The freezer was more complicated, but he got it to run by replacing controls and then isolated an intermittent problem in the compressor. He recommended replacing the freezer if the compressor does break. I appreciated his thoroughness in explaining what he was doing. He knows what he is doing and is fast and thorough. He did not itemize the bill but knocked $20 off because the freezer fix was not a sure bet.

On the phone he asked me to give him the model number of my refrigerator. He told me where to find it, but got very impatient when I didn't find it there. I kept looking all over the refrigerator as I talked to him, but he insisted it should be in the initial location. When I told him I was having trouble, he told me that he's been doing this for 32 years and that I just couldn't see the silver tag. I finally got frustrated and told him that I felt insulted that he didn't believe me and that I was still looking for it. HE HUNG UP ON ME! I couldn't believe it. A few minutes later, I found the tag behind some food in the refrigerator. I thought maybe we had been disconnected by accident. So, I called him back and left a message that I had found the model number and asked him to call me. He never called back. While he may be a competent repair person, he did NOT treat me professionally and I was very disappointed and frankly upset with my interactions with him. I've since looked through the other comments that people have written and find that I'm not the only one. Occasionally he must have a bad day. We all do, but given his other positive ratings, I would assume he would be professional enough to call me back. Apparently not.

Washing machine would not spin - made a screeching sound. I checked the list for a repair person near me. I called and left a message on the answering machine Monday. Al returned my call on Tuesday (he was on repairs on Monday). He came on Wednesday. He checked it out, told me what was wrong and gave me an estimate. He ordered the part necessary while he was here. He came back on Thursday and replaced the transmission. He was very professional, punctual and friendly. He also called each time he was on his way to let me know he was en route. I would definitely recommend his services.

It couldn't have gone better! Al was able to come quickly and accommodate my schedule. He is extremely competent and professional. Price was very reasonable. I would definitely recommend his company.

My 1992 Maytag portable dishwasher stopped operating mid-cycle. I called Al Ligons at Absolutely Guaranteed Major Appliance Service because the Angie's List comments indicated he knew how to handle dishwashers. He was able to come out the same day (within 2 hours). He gave me a time frame he would be here, called 20 minutes before he got here to let me know he was coming, and came in the front door with a smile on his face and a wonderful "can do" attitude. He began to methodically test the dishwasher for various things and it came down to some faulty wiring in an electrical box inside the dishwasher. I am a person who likes to know how things work and Al picked up on that and showed me what the specific problem was. He was wonderful. He fixed the wiring and was done (start to finish) in under an hour. No replacement parts were required. My dishwasher is as good as new and it was a treat to have Al in my home.

Great - I called in the morning and he told me what he thought the problem was. He gave me a quote and told me he would call between 12 and 2. He called at 12:30 and showed up shortly after. When I showed him the washer he took one look at the area on the lid and said it was what he thought the problem was. He had the part in his pocket and fixed it all within about 15-25 minutes. I was thrilled that he could come so quickly, worked fast, and was very friendly too.

Great! Al is very patient in diagnosing the actual problem & then deals with it promptly. He called ahead for model #s and serial #s so he could have the correct parts on hand, so as to save both of us an additional trip.

The experience was fabulous. He was reliable and respectful. He was neat and keen and he didn't leave a bigger mess than what was there before and he explained what was going on.

Phone was answered promptly. Scheduled a time. Was delayed in arrival because of traffic but called to tell me so. Al was pleasant. Identified the problem quickly. Had the part in his inventory. Installed the part. Then checked to make sure the problem was solved. He explained what he was doing along the way. The cost was very reasonable Would definitely use his service again.
