+ -1 moreOverall, it went very well. We had called earlier in the day and made an appointment for early the next day, however the technician's schedule allowed him to come the same day! After he was done, he reviewed the work he did with us and was completed in less than an hour.
Description of Work: The technician came out to my house and completely checked out my snow blower. He replaced the muffler, cleaned the engine, re-calibrated the engine choke and throttle-tested the engine.

+ -1 moreOur two-year old snowblower was acting up and even after replacing the spark plug and cleaning the carb, it still was not running smoothly. We called Mobile Engine Doctor and their technician showed up two hours later. He found the problem (some dirt in the carburetor) and got it running smoothly again, all within the half-hour visit. He gave my husband some tips on maintenance and what kind of fuel to use in the snowblower for optimal engine performance. We are so pleased with their service and will definitely refer our friends and neighbors to them. Thank you!

Description of Work: Back in the late 90's I purchased an MTD snow blower for about $300. Never did a thing to it. Every year I'd put in gas, pull it a couple of times and it would start. Back in December 2010 I decided to treat myself to a Toro. Used it a couple times that winter, didn't use it at all last winter. We got the third largest snowstorm in Minneapolis this past weekend, went out to start my fancy Toro - nothing. Lots of shoveling, very little happiness. Talked to the local hardware store, they could look at it, but I'd have to get it there and maybe get it back in 2 weeks and it would run around $110. Then I thought I'd give Angie's list a try and came across this amazing service. Called Sunday at 2pm, Emily got back to me by 5 pm. Said Mark could come out Tuesday. Left the garage open Tuesday, came home and the snow blower was fixed and the rest of my driveway was blown out. Mark left instructions on how to avoid the situation in the future. And all for just $90, $20 of which was traveling charge because I live outside of their service area. Absolutely brilliant. I have become a life long customer, because they will come out and do tune ups. Absolutely amazing.

+ -1 moreJeff, from Mobile Engine Doctor did a great job. He diagnosed the problem with my snow blower and fixed it quickly. The charge was very reasonable. I would certainly use him again and would recommend him to others.
Description of Work: I had an oil leak in my Yard Machine snow blower. Jeff, the service technician from Mobile Engine Doctor examined the blower and determined that it was a minor problem with a metal washer, replacing it with rubber. He then replaced my oil and proceeded to add air to the tires, which I hadn't even noticed as being low.

+ -1 moreExcellent. I Handled all the communication by email. Left my garage code for the the technician so he could access my tractor without leaving it outside. I wasnt home but they showed up on the day they said they would and fixed it for the promised amount. Definitely will use for all my needs since it is more convenient and even if I can do the work, it is very reasonable as compared to having someone come pickup your machinery (for a fee) and charging a similar or higher rate than these professionals.
Description of Work: I needed a part for the steering mechanism replaced on my riding lawn mower. Although I am sort of handy, I was unsure of the part I needed exactly. I also didnt have a way to get my riding lawn mower to a shop since I dont have a truck or trailer. They ordered the part with no credit card information or anything needed. They did this without knowing if I would pay for the part or cancel the work order after they received the part. Everything was done based on "your word" and "handshake". No fancy contracts or language. It was refreshing in today's world of forms and "pay me before I do this for you" society. They took my "word" that I would pay for it (which obviously I did), and I let them into my home on their promise that they would come do the work and be honest and professional about it. I never talked to anyone or saw anyone from Mobile Engine DR but based on the service, it didnt matter....I will defintiely use again. They have integrity and are professionals.

+ -1 moreI called and got an appointment for three days later. Owner Mark emailed me a confirmation of our appointment the day before. Technician Jeff arrived around 9:00 a.m. He was courteous, friendly, thorough and I couldn't have been more pleased. It took him about an hour and cost me $70. He swept up the driveway afterwards, too. I'll definitely use them again. What a service!
Description of Work: Had the Mobile Engine Doctor come to my home to tune up, grease up and sharpen the blades on my lawn tractor.

+ -1 moreMy initial call that I placed on the weekend was not returned. I called again on Monday and than had a reply back within an hour. After giving Mark the information he needed to look up my particular mower, he told me he would be able to replace the blade. On Thursday, I had to leave my lawn mower outside so he could repair it while I was at work. When I returned that evening, the work was done and the lawn mower was running well.

I found Mobile Engine Doctor on Tuesday through Angie's List and made an appointment for Thursday. Emily was very friendly on the phone and I looked over their website. Jeff showed up on time on Thursday and did the tune up in my driveway, saving me the hassle of taking the mower in and picking it up, or doing the work myself. I was pleased with the ease of getting this done and I did not have to go without my mower during the spring season.

I left my mower next to my garage and around noon, I saw that they working on my mower, right in the driveway. I was really impressed how convenient it was. Also I was able to order some additional parts that they will come back and replace next time! If you are looking for a easy, affordable, and convenient way to get your lawn mover tuned up, hands down - best option!

Description of Work: What a nice experience not having to haul your lawnmower to a service technician, when Mobile Engine Doctor comes to your home. And you do not need to wait two to three weeks waiting to get your mower back from the shop. Their price is very competitive. We had our Toro lawn mower "tuned" for the new cutting season. Blade sharpening, oil & filter change, replace spark plug, replace starter battery and replace two drive wheels. Mobile Engine Doctors also check other components (they found a cracked fuel line).. and they adjust cables.... When considering the fair price, quality service, responsiveness to inquiries and the convenience I would recommend Mobile Engine Doctor.

+ -1 moreAfter our first snow of the season, my 1yr old snowblower did not start. I tried everything the manuel recommended and no luck. While it was under warrenty, the soonest the service company could get out was 3 weeks. I called mobile engine doctor and was able to schedule an appointment the next day. Sevice guy was on time, fixed the problem, charged a reasonable fee, and even spent a few minutes showing wife how to operate the snowblower (bonus!). I would use them again and would recommend....

+ 0 moreWe got Mobile Engine Doctor's from reviewing reports on Angie's List. We called Mobile Engine Doctor to service our snowblower. It did not work at all last year. Mobile Engine Doctor was very accommodating. They were going to schedule us for next week. However, when they heard we were home on vacation this week, they scheduled a time for us the very next day. Mark came out to the house and installed a new carburetor and then did general maintenance on the snowblower including checking spark plug, adding air to tires, checked belts, and lubed drive gears. Mark was very professional and it was wonderful having him come to us and work on the snowblower at our house. We will definitely use Mobile Engine Doctor again and would definitely recommend him to others.

Description of Work: My Toro snowblower had a gas leak. The problem was difficult to determine initially, as it could have been several issues. When I saw the leak was still continuing two days later, I called back for help. Mark came out himself and worked for over an hour to correct the problem at no cost. VERY professional and caring.

+ -1 moreMobile Engine Doctor did a great job for me, even returning to install a unique size belt for the lawn mower self-propel system. There service provided me a great way of getting this type of excellent service for a good cost, timely service and not having to find ways to take the machines to a repair place.
Description of Work: Mobile Engine Doctor did tuneups on a snow blower and a lawn mower. The snow blower had to be cracked open to repair a clattering sound when the augers were running. The lawn mower needed work on the self-propel mechanism which now works better than it has for years.

+ -1 moreMy lawn mower quit on me before I could even get the first cutting in. Because of schedules, I had a hard time taking off time to bring my mower somewhere and then pick it up, so I looked for a service that would come to my home and found it. Everything was precisely as advertised. I went on to their web site, made a reservation for service (it was easy) and they confirmed within an hour. They were able to put me on the schedule just a day out from when I made the reservation. They even contacted me again to ask if I wanted a particular package that would save me some money. Although you don't even have to be home at the time of service, I happened to be here today. Mark arrived, was really pleasant and professional and quickly got to work. He diagnosed the problem, made the repairs, tuned up the machine, and even cleaned it up. He didn't leave so much as a blade of grass on my driveway. I definitely recommend the service - oh, and the price was right, too.
Description of Work: Flushed out my lawnmower carburetor, replaced spark plug, oil, filters, reset the timing and idle speeds, sharpened the blades. Mark even adjusted the wheel height for spring mowing!
