Mobile Engine Doctor

This was the first time we used this service. Mobile Engine Doctor went beyond our expectations. When they arrived, I mentioned that I could no longer shift into the higher gears because some small pieces of plastic had broken off the gearshift surround and that I was thinking of inserting some small screws in the plastic to fix the problem. After they left, I discovered they had done this for me at no additional charge. Now that's excellent service. We highly recommend them and will definitely use them again!

I called last Thursday to make an appointment and the woman who answered the phone said they would be in my area on Wednesday, so I scheduled it. I left the snow thrower outside in the driveway as instructed. I knew last winter it had been making a sound like it was laboring so I wasn't surprised when he said the carburetor needed to be replaced. After about 45 minutes it sounded good as new. Without the physical shop overhead, their prices seem pretty hard to beat. They had the carburetor and tools in the trailer so the only real difference is the snow thrower sat in my garage for a week waiting to be repaired instead of in the shop.

My lawn mower would not start. I've had this lawn mower for at least six years and it has always started on the first or second pull. I was surprised when it would not start. I went to Angie's List for the first time and scheduled an on-site service visit with Mobile Engine Doctor. They came out as scheduled, performed a tune up - changed the oil, spark plug, air filter, sharpen the blade etc. After the tune up, It started right up.

Called to make an appointment. I emailed the make and model number to them. We got an email verification with the date. We also got a reminder email a day before service. We left the mower outside because we did not know exactly when he would be coming, however, he got delayed and came in the evening, which was okay because then we were home. He seemed to know what he was doing and it took him about a half hour to do the routine maintenance.

The service was good. Two people showed up on a Friday before Memorial Day weekend at around 3:30 and due to the fact that my street was getting re-paved they had a short time window to do the service, so while I had scheduled to have both my snow blower serviced at the same time, it was decided to just service the lawn mower. Which they did quite well. I was asked for the serial number and model of both items when they called back, and I emailed them that info & photos along with what I wanted replaced. While the replacement part was not new (but the same exact factory part) it was a bargain for only $20.00 and it still looked brand new so no complaints there. So they replaced the spark plug, drained & replaced the old oil, and air filter and sharpened the blade. The people were knowledgeable, and are very experienced at small engine repair (they've worked together for 4 years). After the work was completed he started it up and tested it and made some final adjustments and then he asked me to start it up and drive it around, which I did. It ran better than it had for a long time. I really liked them coming to you to do the work and you don't have to be home if you need to be somewhere, just leave it out and they will leave an invoice. I thought the price was reasonable for the services rendered and the entire process took 1/2 an hour. Very good customer service

Purchased an older lawn mower off Craig's list, and engine would only start when primed but wouldn't stay running. Jeff comes out to the home, and fixed it on sight. So, no need to try to get the mower in the car/trunk somehow. Now the engine runs and am able to mow the lawn. There were many other issues with the mower, as the previous owner, for some odd reason, removed the blade stop mechanism on the handle, and the throttle control lever isn't working so it constantly runs on full throttle. Those items were not fixed, and I agreed with Jeff that the mowere wasn't worth the extra labor cost to repair those items. As long as the mower runs and cuts the grass ( we only use it for the back yard and w/ only about 100 sq.ft. of grass) it's all I need for now.

Jeff came out to the house. He was cordial and efficient. This was so much better than having to put the mower in the car and taking it to a repair shop. Saved a lot of time. Plus, if there were any questions, the issue could be solved on the spot, like replacing the small T handle on the pull cord with a large handle which is more comfortable on my hand. The wait time from when I called to book the appointment until the actual repair was around 7 business days, so the same or less than leaving the mower at a repair shop.

I e-mailed this company to inquire about servicing a snowblower that is broken. They wrote back during the same day; unforunately I am out of their service area, but were kind enough to include what they think the problem might be and what I could try to fix it. Surely free advice can't be an everyday practice, but it was much appreciated given the urgecy of my situation (SO much snow!). I wish I could use this company, and would definately recommend them to others!

I was very pleased and will definitely use this service again. I have a large snowblower that will fit in my minivan, but I need help to get it loaded. So, based on ratings and convenience I tried this mobile repair service. I inquired through their website. I indicated I was in no hurry, but they responded faster than I expected and were able to fit me in before the big snowfall on Feb. 20. I'd had trouble starting the snowblower. Also, found that I had a gas leak. Jeff got the motor running, found and repaired the leak and replaced a gasline valve that was questionable. I'm a curious sort, and he was great about answering my questions and explaining things. He identified that my shutoff switch was shot. I was pleased that he took a practical, free approach to giving me an alternative method of shutting off the unit instead of offering to search for expensive parts for an old snowblower. I felt the charge for his service was very reasonable and saved me a lot of hassle and time by doing the repair at my house.

My snow blower decided to eat a newspaper. I have a 5 year warranty from the company I purchased it from, but because this was accidental damage, the warranty didn't cover this. They also couldn't give me an estimate for how much the repairs would be, but that there would be between a $90-$110 trip charge/diagnostic fee, and then they'd tell me how much for repairs. Not wanting to do that, I spent over 2 hours trying to unjam the paper from the impeller, with no luck. After searching on Angie's List, I called Mobile Engine Doctor. I spoke to Emily and she gave me an estimate over the phone, letting me know that there could be some additional charges if a belt needed to be replaced. Jeff showed up shortly after 8am. He took the snow blower down to the "Mobile Workshop" and cleared the newspaper jam and changed the oil, all in under 40 minutes. There were no surprise charges, and the whole thing cost less than the diagnostic fee the other company wanted. We are supposed to get 10"-12" of snow tonight, and now I don't have to worry about shoveling. Great Job!

They couldn't say enough good things about him. He showed up on time. He was a pleasant business man. My dad says his snowblower is working better than ever now.

Awesome service. Very convenient, easy to schedule and no interruption to my day. I'll use them from here on out and plan to use them soon for my snow blower.

I made the appointment about a week prior to the appointment; the night before they provided me with a one hour time window for the service, and the technician showed up right on time. He evaluated the snowblower, told me what he would do and what he might have to do and we agreed on a price that if it was going to exceed that we wouldn't do anything but rather would get a new machine. He determined it did a new carburetor, and that was about $80 of the cost. He adjusted the skids and all controls and belts so that it worked like a champ. It took about two hours and was a total of $199.84 for parts and labor, which I thought was reasonable given what he did and the fact that he did it right at my house (I don't have a vehicle capable of transporting a snowblower.) I am very happy with the service I received, and have no qualms recommending Mobile Engine Doctor.

I'm one of the few Minnesotans that doesn't own a truck or an SUV. So transporting a mower to a shop is a bit of a chore in a four door sedan. Since the Mobile Engine Doctor comes to my home, it seemed like a perfect solution to my problem. He showed up at the appointed time towing his shop in a trailer. He got to work on my driveway and in about an hour the mower was tuned up. He changed the oil, filter, and spark plug; sharpened and balaned the blade; and cleaned up the mower. It's running better now than it has in a long time. The price was about the same as taking my mower in to have it tuned up.

I emailed Mobile Engine Doctor about my broken lawn mower and they got back to me quickly to offer up appointment options. I was able to leave the lawn mower out on the day of service so I did not need to be home for the appointment. Service was provided and an invoice was left. The lawn mower has worked well since the appointment.

This was a fantastic experience. They deserve all the "A" ratings they receive. Communication prior to and during was excellent, Repairman, Jeff, was ridiculously knowledgeable. I really felt like my mower was in good hands - and it was. Started right up tonight! Price was very reasonable. Highly, highly recommend. This is a very professional service and the immediate repair and at-home service is simply wonderful. Looking forward to handing out their card.

Metro arrived on time, were very professional and friendly. The Toro mower hadn't been run in over two years so Metro drained the gas and tuned it up. It's running perfectly now. We had a riding lawn mower that we hadn't used in years. We had someone off Craig's List come last summer to get it running, which it did until he left. We needed someone to fix the mower so we could sell it. They worked on the rider and in no time, it was running. After Metro left, we listed it on Craig's List and it sold by 9:00 that night.

Mark was very responsive. In this particular case helped me trouble shoot a problem before coming out. Knows lawnmowers very very well and knows the right questions to ask before starting work. Very convenient and professional way to handle mower repairs.

Seemed to go well. Repaired the belt and performed the tune up. The nice thing about Mobile Engine Doctor was that they came to my residence - I didn't need to haul my tractor into their shop and back, so all I had to do was leave it in my backyard garage for them to fix - and there was no separate charge for the visit. THey also spent some time with me on the phone discussing the possible issues, and suggested some 'tests' I could perform to help them diagnose and bring the correct parts for the job. They brought the right belt for the repair, and the charges were very reasonable. They also called about a week before the originally scheduled visit to say that they had an opening, and wondered whether the earlier time slot worked for us - which it did - so I have a repaired lawn tractor a week early, and I didn't have to haul it anywhere! I discovered this business maybe last year or the year before, but didn't use them until today. I'm glad I did it because I really don't know much about my lawnmower except to use it. I just put gas in and go. I've had this mower for almost 6 years now. I thought I would have to have the blades replaced, but the guy said no, it's good for another year, so I'm relieved. I recommend this business to anyone who don't know anything about lawnmower and it saves so much time rather than taking your mower to a shop in the back of your truck or car. I don't have a truck and I definitely cannot lift that thing into my car, no way! Thank you!

Overall the gentlemen performing the service was very helpful and informative with what exactly the problem was and when I asked if I needed to replace any parts to improve the performance he ran the machine and told me that it was not necessary at this time. He suggested a tune up after the winter season to be ready for the next year but he was able to get my machine running again quickley before any more snow fell.
