They company was cordial enough on the phone but could not accommodate my schedule for moving a refrigerator that I bought. The other thing I needed moved was a pool table and they do not do that. Not their fault. This is how these pre-pay things make money. Oh well. I ended up hiring some guys hourly from AAA-Labor on Franklin and Chicago and borrowing a truck. It was brutal but it got done.
Description of Work: I could not coordinate schedules and had a timing issue on what I needed moved and this was a pre-pay Angies Lisy or Groupon thing (can't remember) so I ended up eating the cost.

Charlie and Canyon did a great job with the move ,considering the cold day and quite a few steps to negotiate at my new place.They were on time, efficient and always respectful, which is important to Seniors like myself. Wrapping the bigger items in plastic shrink wrap and blankets to stabilize and protect them was very thoughtful. I will definitely use Quality Transfer for any future moving. It worked out fine. It was a challenging move and they made it happen. They came out when I asked them to. We had a problem with scheduling at first. We have used them three times now. They tried to get a desk out for us, they could not get it out of the house and so we are still figuring out how to get it out. The coupon made the price really good. I would recommend them and I would use them again.

It went really well overall. They were on time and professional. Unfortunately, it was snowing and so the ramp into the truck was quite slick. Thus, the refrigerator they were moving almost went over the side. My only complaint is that they didn't use blankets over the appliances to prevent scratching or denting. That would have made it an A+ experience for us.
Description of Work: The provider moved 2 large appliances from a location in Minneapolis to my new home in St. Paul. They also moved a refrigerator from the 1st floor to the basement, as well as exercise equipment from the front porch into the garage. We had bought a deal for 2 hours with 2 movers.

I bought the Angies List Coupon and booked my move with Dave. When the day of the move came, our foreman Charlie and his team of 4 arrived on time and were incredibly professional, helpful, courteous, and friendly. They moved very quickly and efficiently despite the challenges of moving out of a high-rise apartment. They wrapped all our furniture and fragile items and not one item was scratched, dented, or broken. We were 95% packed and they brought in a few large wheel bins to collect all the odds and ends (this was incredibly helpful as it is hard to have everything 100% ready on the day of your move). When they arrived at our new house they kept up their quick and efficient pace and even moved things around a few times as we didn't know where we wanted some items to go. When it came time to settle the bill I was surprised by a discrepancy on what I thought the hourly rate was. Charlie our foreman was quick to call his bosses Nick and Dave to sort out the confusion. It was a simple misunderstanding (I had booked with Dave and then confirmed with Nick and Dave had quoted me a week-day rate for 3 movers when really it should have been a weekend rate with 4 movers). Dave was incredibly kind and sent me a refund for the difference as it was a misunderstanding. I would use this group again and have recommended them to friends and family. My only advice would be to have an email confirm your move date, time, and hourly rate.

It was okay. We ended up buying two from them and failed to read that we could only use one at a time. They did just the moving. They didn't do any packing at all. Nothing was broken or scratched. Everything was fine. It was just a bummer because I knew that it was going to cost about $600 - $700 to do the move. They had to go all the way across town. I bought two packages and went to find out that we're not going to use the second package. They just weren't very personable. They were kind of short like they didn't want to be there. When it came to paying, he said that we should have known that. I said "I'm sorry, I didn't read that part." I said "Won't you do it anyway?" They said "no." I asked if they could refund my money and they told me that I should go to Angie's List. They were here on time. I would not use them in the future.

They billed the job accordingly and allowed for the Angie's List BIG DEAL coupon to be used properly. His attitude was very poor, unappreciative of any business, and difficult. I did not want to deal with him further. I felt this "great deal" really was not a deal of any kind and so I did not use it. Complete waste of money. I would never use this company for anything. I hired someone much more reasonable, in terms of attitude and cost, to do the task.
Description of Work: I bought this coupon to have a moving company move my living room furniture into the bedrooms and back again while having wood floors refinished. When I called the vendor to use the "great deal", he indicated that I would have to pay for his time to drive from the western suburbs to Saint Paul and that if there was traffic, that would use up most if not all of the coupon value, and then I would have to pay him at his regular rate.

It worked out very well. We were happy with them. They did a great job. I think we went above and beyond Big Deal, but I honestly don't know. The price was reasonable. I just remember we had no complaints and they did a good job and professional. We would potentially use them again in the future, but hopefully we won't need to.

Kevin, Charlie, Kanyon and Chase worked nonstop and were careful and considerate the entire time. I scheduled my move to start in the afternoon so mine was the second move of the day for these fellows but you'd never know by their strong work and great attitudes. Everything was moved safely and placed where I wanted it...tricky at times as there were large pieces that had to get around some tight corners and a lot of stairs in the split-level. I highly recommend this great team.

It was a long day, but Charlie & his crew worked hard from early morning to quite late in the evening - about 12 hr in total. I was initially concerned at the average age of the team, thinking that such young men couldn't possible know how to take care of our cherished possessions, but I was quickly impressed by their attention to details while sustaining speed & energy throughout the operation. Under Charlie's supervision, all went smoothly. We were delighted. Ask for Charlie

Description of Work: Quality moved us from a 3rd floor condo in Edina to another 3rd floor condo in Bloomington. They showed up at the scheduled time. All of our furniture was individually wrapped and taped in thick padding to prevent any damage and everything arrived in our new condo in perfect condition. They moved everything from my 3 bedroom 1 bath house, stored for 2 weeks, then unloaded in my new house across town. The movers were nice and very professional.Overall they did a good job with a few exceptions: |First I used an Angie's list deal which the mover miscalculated (my spouse was home at the time of payment and didn't realize there was a problem). This got cleared up though with a few phone calls. |They were about 25 mins late I moving day which would not be a big deal except they were insistent they would be prompt. Should have given a window instead or called as there is nothing worse then standing in your packed up house on moving day wondering if your movers will be no shows. |Nothing broke inside any of the boxes we packed which was great. However they broke a leg off of our weber grill (which should have been obvious to them given it wouldn't stand up. And they bent the front wheel of our $500 baby jogger. Overall not a huge deal but it would have been nice had they pointed these things out to us and apologized and we didn't discover them for ourselves.

It went very well. There was a crew of 5 and we needed it! This included the Lead person who really kept things running smoothly. We moved 2.5 miles and they filled one truck, unloaded and delivered the next truck. The timing was excellent and they took care of our things. Still unpacking but nothing broken. We had everything marked and for the most part everything was put in the correct room. I would recommend them completely.

It was awful from beginning to end. I should have seen the writing on the wall. 1. I called for an estimate in late April 2013; they sent someone to my house; turns out it was a mover and not an estimator so he had no idea what he was talking about. He gave us ballpark price, an told us that the move would take 1 truck and 4 hours. 2. the day of moving the movers showed up with 3 guys. the lead guy (Jason) told me that the guy who came to my house initially was not an estimator and he should have sent 2 trucks with 4-5 guys. The guys did an ok job, and I had never hired movers before so we did tip them each $30 for the move that day. Jason also told me that the owner is super forgetful and doesn't write anything down. This was his explanation as to why He (Jason) would schedule a van to come the following day, rather than having us call Dave (the owner); I then gave him the garage code and just asked him to call me when it was done since we wouldn't be home for round 2 3. Those same guys moved us into temporary housing that same day; they moved several items, but I had a day bed that they tried to jam through a doorway - no protective blankets or anything - needless to say it was damaged (but I'll get to that list later) 4. They sent a van 2 days later to our house (we weren't there for this pick up) but they did call me and ask where I was - this was confusing to me since I had already talked to them about not being available. The mover that called me was totally confused. I ended up getting a hold of Jason and he straightened this particular issue up at the time. 5. Most of our stuff was put in storage for 3 months. 6. I called in July to schedule the final move. I explained that I needed them to pick us up at the temporary home, pick up some items, and then they could move us into the new place; we scheduled the appointment for August 14 7. August 13th comes, and I haven't hear anything from them. I was a little nervous so I called them to make sure everything was on track. I talked to Nick Franta. He confirmed that we were going to meet at 8am, and we confirmed the temporary house location. I actually said it outloud (my husband heard me) - this becomes important on moving day 8. Later that same day, Dave Franta (the owner) called me (as if I hadn't already talked to someone) to confirm the time and address. Again we said 8am at the temporary housing location 9. on moving day we were waiting at the temporary housing for quite some time. I didn't have my cell phone because I thought it would just be one more thing to hold onto. At around 9:30 I started getting very concerned and I used my husbands phone to call them 10. I talked to Nick - he yelled at me for to having my phone, yelled more asking me where I was - I was shocked. They were at our new house, not the temporary home which was the place we agreed to. He yelled at me more telling me that they were going to pack up the trucks and take my stuff back to storage and that I was going to have to pay for the time that his guys waited around. He yelled more and asked me why i didn't call when they didn't show up at 8am. I couldn't take it. I was furious, I told them that I will not be paying for the time they "wasted" - they went to the wrong address. And I also told him that the reason I didn't call at 8am is because I had no idea if they were starting at 8am packing up the trucks or what. No one ever explained the process to me, and I've never hired movers before. We went back and forth, and I finally yelled back telling him that this was the worst service I've ever received and that what he should be saying to me is "I'm sorry for the mix up, don't worry, every thing is under control" - once I said this, he backed off and said, "let's just move forward and get the move done" 11. We got to the new house, and the movers began to move us in. 12. I was watching them bring in some items - art specifically - and I noticed that they brought in something that wasn't ours. They moved 3 art pieces to our home that were not ours, and they moved a mountain bike to our house that wasn't ours. 13. They broke picture frames, a standing light's globe, a punch bowl 14. They damaged a number of items: Christmas tree bag, shelving, night stand, jewelry chest, 6ft tall mirror frame, our fabric couch was ripped, I could go on. 15. I paid them for all of the moving time - they gave me 1 hr "free" - this was their concession for their waiting at the wrong address. What a joke, I should have never agreed. 16. I received a call 2 days later from the owner, Dave. He wanted me to pay for 4 days of storage that they hadn't collected yet. I told him about all of the damage, etc, and he said he wanted to come out and see it. 17. Dave came out to my house, saw all of the damage - said he'd never seen anything like it, blah blah blah 18. Dave send a guy out to my house to fix a few items: the daybed, the mirror, a shelf, the jewelry chest - but there were still a lot of damaged items (the Christmas tree bag alone was $100) 19. 2 items broken on the day of the move (#14) were returned to the company, and they fixed them in their "shop" - when the guy came to fix some items TWO MONTHS AFTER WE MOVED IN I asked where those 2 items were. no idea. he left a message with Dave. 20. 2 weeks later, I left an upset message with the company asking where my stuff was from the shop, and what they were going to do about all of the other damage. 21. Nick (the idiot son) called me and said "hi Jaime how can I help you" - I said my name is Jayne, and did you listen to my message - I mean these guys run this business like a bunch of kids. 22. Dave the owner wants to come out again and deliver the 2 items of mine they fixed and see what damage is left. I show him everything - he's still in shock. I tell him that I want $1000 back and then I wont feel like I got totally ripped off. He says "Send me the list of damages and we will take it under advisement" - he also says he will get back to me in a week. 23. no communication, no nothing. November 4th - i'm frustrated again. 24. We check the mail. There is a letter from Quality Movers and Storage - SENT TO THE WRONG ADDRESS!!!!! it was sent to the house we lived at during temporary housing!!!! They still don't know where we live and they've been out here 4 times!!!!! 25. They wrote me a letter, and sent me a check for $350 (approx. 10% of what I paid them) - the letter said that they basically would have paid me more except that I wasted their time when they showed up at the wrong address AND the fact that they cant be sure that all of my stuff wasn't damaged before hand. I have NEVER been so upset with a service provider. For the price I paid, they should have rolled out the red carpet. I feel ripped off, and worst still I feel like they are lying about the whole address mix up. The best part is, I have a voicemail from Nick (the owners son) at 7:30 ish the morning of the move saying "There's been a little mix up with the address - can you give us a call" - funny how it turned into my fault. NEVER DO BUSINESS WITH THESE GUYS.

Response from Quality Moving & Storage
The following is a response to an Angie's List comlaint against our company, Quality Movers. [member name removed] contacted our company this past April to inquire about moving and storage services. I took [member name removed] phone call and I will be the responder to her concerns and demands. After three or four phone conversations during which [member name removed] was informed of crew size, hourly moving rate, storages fees etc., she scheduled a move into our storage facility. We make a determination of crew size and truck assignment based on our conversations with prospective customers. No in home estimate was ever conducted at the [member name removed] residence. An employee sent to her home to make a courtesy delivery of free boxes on his way home from work. Perhaps [member name removed] queried him for his unofficial estimate. All estimates created by our company are sent to the prospectve customer by email. [member name removed] could not produce such a document, as none was ever created. The day of the [member name removed] move into storage we dispatched a crew of three movers and one standard sized moving van to their residence. This is our normal proceedure for a move of the [member name removed] description. The crew arrived on time at 8:00 am. After the customary "walk thru" and once outside the crew lead called me, as I had scheduled the move, and said, " boss did you know there is a whole nother move here ?" Incredulous to his inquiry, I replied "no". Turns out there was a truckload of [member name removed] items to be moved, by us, to a relatives residence. This news was a revalation to all as there had been no previous mention of any other service but a move into Quality Movings Storage Facility. I gave the go ahead to the crew to comply with [member name removed] request, knowing it would impact our schedule, and undoubtedly the [member name removed] move. It should be noted that the size/capacity of our entire fleet of trucks is close to identical, give or take a few inches. And so [member name removed] comment regarding forgetful is moot, as memory is not applied/needed, we simply send out a moving van with a three mover crew on every move of [member name removed] (own) description. Once again [member name removed] never made mention of an additional truckload of household goods going to a relatives home. If indeed she had why then we would have dispatched two trucks. Also the aforementioned additional transfer of goods made it nessasary to utilize one of our cargo vans to complete the [member name removed] project as our moving vans are not readily available unless previously scheduled. [member name removed] may have been remiss in informing us regarding the extra load and trip to the relatives home. At [member name removed] request we were to return all of her household and garage items to her new residence in Plymouth on August 15th at 8:00 am. And so on August 14th our crews loaded all of [member name removed], Once loaded with all of [member name removed] storage contents there was not space for any other items. We were at full capacity. Shortly thereafter Derek (our employee) telephoned [member name removed] and during a live conversation with [member name removed] confirmed the time of day (8:00am) and location at her new residence in Plymouth that our crew would arrive at the following day. I can attest to that as I was standing next to Derek and overheard the entire exchange. The next day our crew of five movers arrived at 14764 50th Place, Plymouth at 8:00 am sharp. All five of those Quality Moving employees could/would verify that time. After determining that no one [member name removed] was there, we began our numerous attempts to contact [member name removed]. No lees than five QMS personnel Thomas, Brenda, Dave, Jason and Nick called [member name removed] using the same telephone number that she had answered just the day before. All five left messages to return the call ASAP. She did not contact us until 9:30 am, some 90 minutes later. All the while our employees sat idle ! [member name removed] states she left her phone somewhere as it was "one more thing to hang on to" whatever that means. For real , in this day and age? I would think [member name removed] would have her cell phone with her at all times as important of day this was for her. And she makes mention of her concern in item # 7 of her complaint stating she was "nervous" about the move date and time so she " called them ". And goes on to state the time 8:00 am and that "this becomes important on moving day". There is a disconnect in all that, whatever the reasons only she knows. [member name removed] blatantly contradicts herself by saying she was very concerned but then waited an hour and one half to return all of our attemps. Some items worth mention: * Considering that Quality Moving was on time on all the occasions arriving MaGarrity's residences how can she give us a rating of F on punctuality ? * Also how can she call us forgettful when we were there on her scheduled dates at the correct address' and had her correct telephone number ? * Considering that [member name removed] was loaded unto trucks at her prior residence, taken to our storage facility, unloaded and placed into storage there, stored for three months, loaded back onto trucks, driven her new residence and unloaded there, we feel the entire cost was more than reasonable. Once again I do not agree with her rating of price as D. * Beside the facts that our trucks were filled to capacity and also that we have a "no riders" policy, an additional reason not to make a side trip the morning of the move was the inefficent use of a five person crew and two trucks to perform a two person one truck job resulting in additional cost to [member name removed]. -- After the move I visited the [member name removed] home. I was punctual, arrived on time. I observed some dings and scatches to furniture and other items that most likely our movers had caused. Contrary to [member name removed] discription to my words as blah blah blah I was sincere. In an attempt to remedy the problems I arranged to have a proffesional furniture and general repairman visit the [member name removed] home. He was sucessful at repairing nine items to [member name removed] satisfaction. His invoice to our company was $398.00. I would produce a copy of that invoice should anyone need verification. The repairman did not do the work for several weeks, we are not in control of his schedule. Next I returned a new globe for a lamp and small framed picture which the glass had been replaced in, to the home. Shortly after my on time arrival and some small talk. [member name removed] said, "I want to end all this now so I want a $1000.00 settlement". After consulting with my partner (my son), the repairman, the moving crew and the list of items that had dings, scratches and a tear, a settlement of $ 350.00 was sent to [member name removed]. At that point our cost to repair damages totaled $ 800.00. We did and still do consider this figure to be fair and final. A deciding factor is there is no way to substaniate if any damage was pre- existing also $ 83.00 of unpaid storage fees that [member name removed] refused to pay. [member name removed] then sent me an email stating that if we did not pay her $ 1000.00 she would do all she could to destroy our reputation. Her attempt at extortion hits below the belt in a very dishonorable way. The most disrepectful and hurtful to me and my son is her use of the word idiot. This is the second time I've hired Quality Moving & Storage for an apartment move. The first experience was great and I recommended them many times. Unfortunately - this weekend's service could not have been more different. Here's what happened: - they were EXTREMELY SLOW. I've hired movers many times and I have never seen a crew move so slow. Multiple times throughout the day, all three men were standing around staring. Literally doing nothing. - I caught them on my front porch just sitting around. It took them an hour and a half to finish what was estimated at 30 minutes of work left to do. Then it took them 15 minutes to drive TWO blocks. Literally, TWO blocks to the new house. - they were extremely rude - both to me and to each other - to the point where I was embarrassed for them - they left a whole room full of boxes - even though I had walked through each room with them - they tried to talk me out of trying to move my bed and couch into the apartment - which is the reason I hired them. I knew it might not make it up skinny stairs, but I hired them to try. Instead - I was charged for time while they stood in the front hall and made rude remarks while not trying to move it up the stairs. - they didn't put boxes in the right places - every box was labeled and when I realized they weren't putting them in the right places, I stood at the truck and read off the right rooms to them. They STILL didn't do it. Nearly every box ended up in the kitchen and living room. Half the kitchen boxes are in the basement. - they broke a weak leg on my kitchen table - not a surprise since I knew it was weak - but then they stacked the HEAVIEST boxes right on top of it. So now its in worse shape than before. - they left huge red marks on my walls from a moving aid they brought with them A year ago, the same move, out of the same apartment, with the same number of movers and less stuff (I moved a whole room of fragiles myself this time) - took only 3.5 hours. This time it took FIVE. At $150/hr, that's $225 more for a job that was not completed, not done well and where I was treated rudely. I paid the bill on site and called the owner of the company the next day to complain. Since I had hired them before, I expected the owner to be helpful. Instead, he told me that it was a "misunderstanding" that the crew had never received bad reviews. To which I told him, that may be true, but that is not at all what happened to me and I need a refund. A few days later, he sent me a letter with $75 in it. On a $750 bill that should have at MAX $500. And that doesn't even take into account the work that was not done, the damage to the walls or the rudeness of the employees. As a small business owner myself, I would be embarrassed if an employee of mine treated a customer this way. All I can say is - I expected better. And when that didn't happen - I expected the owner to make good - which he didn't. I'm sorry Nick, but I will not be hiring you again.

So sorry to hear of your unhappiness. It is not exactly what wanted to rad on a late Sunday night. Actually I am a bit confused and shocked. After our conversation the day following the move I had thought we had discussed all of the issues and that we had "cleared the air" where needed. I also talked with all 3 movers and yes, I did discover that there was some downtime, primarily due to the fact that they were trying to figure out how to get many items up a tight, small stairwell. The damage was not discussed on the phone call and in any case we are always more than happy to get it looked at and repaired professionally...asap. We still are. It was also stated by all 3 movers that the mood all day from you was positive, the move went smooth and that you were quite upbeat at billing. One would think that with ALL of these issues, an upset customer would have said something during the move or at least at billing? I would hope an Angie's List Member would allow some time and conversation before making such strong and hopefully not too damaging remarks, As our hundreds of reviews show..we do make some mistakes but as honest men of our word...we do come through and we finish strong. It is all we know. We fell we provided a professional crew, one we have sent out dozens of time and have heard GREAT things about and we heard your complaint, followed up and even offered a solid refund for time lost struggling to get things up the stairs. We are sorry for your disappointment and are always here to make what went wrong right. That is why I took your call, heard you out and acted that day. We were impressed with on site crew- Charlie, Sean and Derek.Team of 3 are very professional, communicative, courteous, polite, and highly efficient.Team took excellent care of furniture and wrapped it well. They took care of new carpet and wood floor while moving the boxes and furniture. Awesome, co-ordination among members. Free boxes given were of good quality. Cons: Administrative work needs to be more responsive and approachable . Having said this, as I mentioned crew members are excellent , exceptional, outstanding. Nice job crew. Hence i give overall "A" . I will hire them again provided admin is more responsive and approachable.

Everything arrived safely and we were amazed by the speed of the whole operation. They were pleasant & helpful as well. We fed them a couple of buckets of fried chicken and sent them on to their next job!
Description of Work: Four strong young men showed up right on time, a bit early in fact & quickly moved our belongings from our 4 level home to our 3rd floor apt. Fortunately there is an elevator at the new place but waiting for it was the ONLY time they slowed down! They filled their truck & our cars and were done in abut 5 hours.
