Krech Exteriors

Late last Summer, we had hail damage and contacted Krech to come out when our insurance adjuster would be there so they could assess the damage together. Mistake #1. We had a nice college kid come out and walk through with the adjuster, they agreed on what would be covered, and he put a Krech sign in our yard to fend off the storm chasers. We ultimately decided to wait until Spring for the project. In the meantime, college kid continues calling and calling us, I assume to ensure that he'll get his commission from the deal. When we called Krech back in the Spring to get the ball rolling again, college kid was undecided whether he would be working there again this Summer so we were passed along to his Supervisor. Fast forward to the day the work was to begin. The crew shows up and starts tearing off the roof about 7:30am. I am still in the house getting my children up and ready for school. The sound of several men tearing off the roof when you are inside the house is very loud and kind of unnerving. A knock on the door would have been much appreciated to give us a heads up they were there and going to start. When I open the garage door to leave, there is a giant dumpster parked right behind my vehicle. I can barely manage to sneak outside as roofing material is being slung to the ground every which direction. I flag down the crew leader and let him know I have to get out of the garage. He laughs and says the dumpster can't be moved. He comes down, along with two other men, and together inch by inch THEY back my vehicle out of the garage around the dumpster. I came home from work, roof looked nice. There were nails all over in my landscaping rock around the house, they left a piece of flashing up on the roof, they had moved my garden hose from the back of my yard to the front and left it there (which, by the way, they didn't ask if they could use), and knocked down my outdoor thermometer which broke and didn't bother to tell me. Same terrible cleanup job when the gutters were put on a few days later. They left pieces of metal in my yard from when they trimmed the gutters. This was very concerning to me since I have kids running around they yard. I called the Supervisor who was supposedly now our sales rep since college kid went away. I asked if there would be some sort of final walkthrough. He said yes, one of the owners does that. I asked him if we could schedule it for a time when I would be home. He said yes. I wanted to show the owner the issues I had come across. Well, that was back in May and I haven't heard from anyone since. In the meantime, I called the office to find out how much more we owe. The gal said she would check and get back to me. Again, that was at least a month ago and haven't heard anything. The whole pricing thing is a racket, too. They refuse to tell me how much the roof costs because they just take whatever the insurance company pays. Is that any reason to provide such terrible service? In summary, I don't know how this company is still in business. Their communication is terrible, their work subpar, cleanup terrible, and follow through - well, there is none. I have had a few other projects done this year with other contractors on my home and Krech is BY FAR the WORST.

I set up an appointment for the bid. They came out right away and took measurements. It was a fair bid but I decided to go with another contractor.

All Krech staff were professional and very responsive in answering questions before the project began (Sales Rep/Pete S.) and during it. The onsite crew leader/onsite field supervisor also deserves to be named and complimented, but unfortunately I cannot recall his name. The weather was extremely hot during the entire project (upper 90's) and the crew continued to put in 8-12 hour days. Krech Exteriors also did a thorough job of cleaning the yard and driveway for any debris on a daily basis. Krech Exteriors was considerate and asked our schedules so as to make the project less intrusive (due to the noise level) to us. NOTE: I did some background research on Krech, and I asked Krech for several references of completed James Hardie projects. We went and viewed the projects that Krech had completed for other homeowners. We are very satisfied with their work on our home. Krech was more than willing to go the extra mile to ensure we were a satisfied customer.

Re roof the house and garage on my daughters house.

I did not have a good experience with this company. I got an initial visit and quote quickly but it took MONTHS to get someone out to actually do the work, even though I told them I needed it done by a specific date. I had to call the owner to finally get things moving. And when someone did come out, they didn't even inform me. I figured it out when I saw the rusty nails they left sitting out on my retaining wall. The work didn't hold for more than a year or two. One of the two by fours they attached to fix the bottom of my deck fell off! Not sure I would want them to come back even if they offered to come and fix it for free. Oh, and I didn't get the bill until a year after the repair was done.

At the end of the day, Bill Krech the owner was very responsive and apologetic for the various mis-steps. Things go awry sometimes and only way to judge at the end is whether the company and the people care enough to try to get the situation corrected. Bill cares about his business and having satisfied customers.

They are a high quality contractor with a well-earned reputation for professional service and top-notch workmanship.

They use subcontractors. The first set of contractors did not come prepared with their own generator, so they had to plug into the outlet in our basement requiring that the door be unlocked (husband argeed to this not me). Found that they were using our bathroom and coming into to the house (this occurred when my middle school daughter was home alone). Krech took care of the problem as soon as I notified them. This set of contractors also poorly installed the planks with may nails and the boards were "wavy". Again, Krech took care of this by getting a second subcontrator. This set were great and fixed the problem the other subcontractors and were very polite. We did have problems with promises of keeping bricks that were removed. The sales person should have checked before making these promises. In the end the exterior looks beautiful but the time frame was very long.

Very poor response from salesman. Sometimes 5 to 7 days to get a call back. Folks at the company do not appear to be talking to each other. Original contract signed in October 2013. Work still not done as of 1/15/2014. Should not take 3 months for a simple one story house to get roof and gutters done. Roof was done on 11/11/2014, 2 1/2 weeks from contract signed. Salesman never ordered gutters and tried to tell to me that the gutters weren't even in insurance claim. Then the salesman told me that there was no way to get the gutters done until spring. This was confirmed to be false when I called the company and was told that they do this kind of work in the winter. Gutters, soffit, and faschia torn off on 1/9, soffit replaced 1/10 and now I sit with no gutters and am being told it will be at least 1/20 before anyone will be out to work on the house. Right now we have a terrible ice problem on our step, walk, and driveway due gutters being left undone. Very surprised at all of the great referrals on here. Joined Angie's List to try and find a different company to put the gutters on.

Excellent. Crews cleaned up after work was completed. Held weekly construction meetings attended by the contractor (Bill Krech) with his staff to go over the timeline, timecard information, etc to keep project on time and on budget. Homeowners were very satisfied with the completed project.

They did good work and we haven't had any problems. The workers were very neat and they cleaned up after themselves.

New shingles were installed in 1 day, but, for some reason, they had installed 2 different colors of drip edge. Returned several weeks later to correct that and install the vent stacks. Seamless gutters were installed about a month later. Job went quickly.

It went well. We were especially pleased by Tammy Kwiatkowski. She is extremely knowledgeable about what should be done and how best to accomplish it. Additionally, she was extremely responsive. She answered our phone calls even while she was on vacation. We were pleasantly surprised by her attention to our concerns and needs. Most of the siding, fascia and soffit work was done by Victor (don't recall his last name) and his crew. They were very hard workers and the quality of the finished work is superior. I would definitely hire Krech again, especially if Tammy is the one to tie all of the pieces together. Some minor problems: about half-inch gap in one little area of the soffit, the painters decided to scrap mud off their boots on our window wells.

We had a siding repair job due to soft fiber board siding on the bottom row of siding. Krech sent out one of their repair techs to look at the job and estimate. The price was very reasonable and they weren't concerned that it was a pretty small job. Some companies didn't want to bother with a small job like that. They tracked down replacement siding even though the original company no longer makes it. The installer showed up, made the repair in very short time and was on his way. He left the excess siding in case of any future repairs. I'm very satisfied with the price, responsiveness and quality of work.

My wife and I cannot be more satisfied with our experience with this local company. They navigated a very complicated insurance claim and helped us with several other issues that came up with our old shingles. We lost count how many times Paul and Case had to come out because our insurer or the old shingle manufacturer needed something further. They were patient, efficient, always returned calls or answered live. The team who showed up to do the work was punctual and efficient on site. They did a good job cleaning up post installation. When we had a question regarding one of the vent screens post install, someone was dispatched to take a look...SAME DAY. Another crew showed up the next day to make sure all was well with the vent. If I could apply only one word to our experience with this Krech on this project, it would be...Responsive.

We contacted Krech to get a siding quote. I contacted the company via a form on their website. They quickly responded and a sales person set an appointment. Denny came came out and he was on time. He took the time to explain the products and various options. While my wife and I looked at colors and styles Denny measured the house. He then completed the bid and explained the products and installations. Denny did not pressure us for a decision which was appreciated. We did not sign with krech as we chose a different product, but they ran a close second. Very professional and I am sure they would have done a great job

They were fabulous! They were polite, prompt, and the job got done quickly. We’re very satisfied with the work, and we’d have them back in a minute!

Overall, the experience was good. Dan was very professional, thorough, and personable.

They gave us a good price and came out on the hottest day of the year. They did a great job!

He was friendly and very helpful. He told me the job was so small that I could get the job done myself, which I did.

All but the deductible was covered by insurance. They did a great job replacing my roof. They came when they said they would, responded to my phone calls promptly and were very courteous with me. They explained the different roofing options and have a fantastic warranty. They even gave me an estimate that I asked for on the siding. I will definitely use them again for my siding or any other roofing needs.

The siding portion was good, but the pillars weren’t installed well. The bottom of the pillar is under warranty, so they came back out to try to fix it, but they still have to come back to fix it since it still wasn’t corrected properly.

Kudos to Krech Exteriors. Our siding project was scheduled on what seemed like the hottest days of the year in the summer of 2012. The Krech crew began the tear off, wrapping, and installing of the James Harding Siding. The crew was hard working. Krech kept us informed as to the progress of the job and even asked if the noise level was tolerable in the morning or during dinner time. The point is that Krech was considerate of our family as well as completing the project. Pete Slama, sales, was very knowledgeable and personable. Pete was very accommodating and understanding to our schedule when we had to reschedule a few appointments during the planning stages.
