 + -1 morePaul is very responsive, professional and honest. He was the only company out of 3 that I called to provide me with a detailed estimate. Because the broken pipe was under concrete in my basement, he quoted a price at 2 feet increments so I would know best/worse case scenario. The other companies only provided me with a starting quote but nothing more because they could not tell where the break was. Paul was punctual, efficient and cleaned up beautifully. He forgot to include the Angie's List discount in the final cost and I assumed it was already in the price. He immediately emailed me with an apology and offered to meet with me to return the discount. That is honesty as I would not have known.
Description of Work: Break up concrete, replace 20 feet of waste line and patch concrete.

 + 0 moreThe service went very well. They treated our home like their treat their own homes. He found a couple of other little things and he fixed those for free. He was honest, fair and prompt. They will do what we needed to have done and if they see anything else that needs to be done they will fix it if they can. Their prices are fair. The people are honest, kind, clean and prompt. They are professional. We couldn't ask for a better group for plumbing. We owed them more than what they charged; we probably should have paid them hundreds of dollars more. We are planning to use them in the future for work to finish a bathroom. They are great. I feel confident that they will do a wonderful job.
Description of Work: We used Benchmark Plumbing to unclog a sink. He had to snake out a big drain; we had three things that were stopped up. They also fixed the faucet and sink for free.

 + 0 moreI am very glad I called Benchmark and very happy with the job and cost. They were on time, professional, and did a great job. I will use them again when I replace the toilet in the master bath. They made replacing the water heater so easy.
Description of Work: I called 2 plumbers from Angie's list before Benchmark. One called me back and told me he was booked out a week and was too busy to look at it. The second one never called me back. I called a third plumber from Angie's List. He came out the following day and sent an estimate to me by email later in the day. I called Benchmark and got an estimate over the phone that included 15% off for Angie's List members. Benchmark's estimate was $200 less for the same water heater. I booked Benchmark for a time convenient for me, as I still had hot water and the leak was minimal. I was told they would come out between 8:15 and 8:30. They were here at 8:20. They were very nice and very professional. They put down tarps to protect the floors. I live in a one-level, so the water heater is in a utility closet with a water softener and the furnace. They are packed in there pretty tight, but they removed the old one and installed the new one quite smoothly. One side of the old one was actually up against the furnace. They fitted the new one so there is a space between the water heater and the furnace to reduce the chance of vibration. They showed me where all the shut-offs are, explained how to adjust the water temperature, and showed me exactly what they did. It took 2 hours for them to complete the job. When they were done, there was no sign they had even been here.

The quote (including a discount for Angie List customers) for a Rheem 40 gallon was the lowest and it could be installed the following day. This also included hauling away the old one. The floors were very well protected before he started. Which I really appreciated because of the snowy sidewalk outside and carpet to the basement. Installation, clean up after and a new working water heater all have been a very smooth transaction. Paul was very professional. I feel the quality, price, responsiveness, punctuality and professionalism were all top notch.
Description of Work: Replaced a 20 year old water heater with a new 40 gallon and hauled the old away.

 + -1 moreHe spoke with my husband and suggested a particular faucet that we agreed to purchase and have waiting for him when he arrived. He gave us an idea of approximately how long it would take to do the install and we scheduled a date and time for him to come out. On the day of the appointment he was actually running a bit ahead of schedule which was fine with us as we had already arranged to leave a key for him. He installed the new shower faucet in an existing shower/tub without any problems even though we have an old house with a variety of challenges i.e. the access panel for the faucet didn't allow enough room to get at the existing valve in the typical fashion. The faucet works great!. Paul was professional, courteous, and trustworthy- Highly recommend him to anyone needing a good plumber!

I had to wait a few days because he had to handle an emergency call but I did not mind because he allowed me to see he does race to emergencies. I might be the next one that has the emergency! He got the water heater taken care of and did not leave a mess. I was very happy. He was very nice, p;lite and courteous and explained things well to me.

 + -1 morePaul removed a 22 year old toilet that had been leaking plumbers putty which he said was not used except in very old houses and our house is 22 years old. It was pretty yucky. Anyway he cleaned up the mess the putty made and installed a new Toto two piece toilet that I had purchased. He was very nice, professional and quick with his work. He cleaned up and took away the old toilet too. I plan to hire Paul anytime I need a plumber. He has 23 years of experience and is very good at his work. My husband was surprised at how quickly the work was done.

Description of Work: Benchmark Plumbing took out the old cement double laundry tup and hauled it away, put in a new laundry tub with a new faucet and new turnoffs for the washer. He hooked up the washer, replaced the venting for and hooked up the new gas dryer. No surprises. It took about 51/2 hours.

 + -1 moreI called Paul and left a message which was returned within an hour. We discussed the problem so he'd know what I needed and then we scheduled time for later in the week. Paul showed at the time agreed and reviewed the site. He did a great job and tolerated my silly questions (I like to be informed and fully understand what is being done to my home). The area was very tight and he was able to gain access and do what was needed without issue. Paul replaced both the interior shutoff and the exterior valve with a frost-free pipe. He anchored the exterior valve and caulked around it - finished properly which was nice to see. The work took approximately 2 hours. Paul was very neat, cleaned up the work area after himself and always removed his shoes when walking into our finished basement. I would not hesitate to have him come back!
Description of Work: My outdoor faucet was leaking, even after shutting off the inside valve - which meant they were both worn out and needed replacing.

Other plumbers claimed the space would be too tight to work in and that they would have to tear through the other side of the wall, but Paul made no such claims. He arrived and finished on-schedule, accurately estimating the job size from all angles.

Paul was the only one who asked a simple question regarding handle color. He was so knowledgeable and knew what he was talking about that we hired him on the spot. He even made time on a short notice phone call to come over and complete the work. Both faucets have been replaced, are great quality and no longer leak! We completely forgot about another outside faucet so we are going to have him back to replace that along with some other plumbing work. Paul is professional, cleans up after himself and makes sure to answer any questions you have. You won't be disappointed!

 + -1 moreOur drainage line from the kitchen sink to the sewer main was installed improperly when the house was built in 1950. Over time, one of the galvanized pipes that was not pitched properly began to corrode, eventually rusting through and leaking water into the basement. I thought would be a difficult repair to one of the main sewer lines. Paul at Benchmark was reassuring that the problem was a relatively easy fix and he was right. In an out in a hour. Very fast, very professional.
Description of Work: Our drain running from the sink to the sewer main was corroded and needed replacement. Benchmark made some very good suggestions on replacing the entire line to avoid future problem. The job took one hour tops.

 + -1 moreWater was leaking from the upstairs bath into a storage room below. During our second conversation, Paul was able to schedule time to come the next week. Paul worked to locate the leak. He troubleshot a few different options. Finally he found the inside of the bathtub spout was cracked in multiple places. He said he had never seen this before. He went to a local hardware store to get another one. Replaced the spout and the leak stopped. Very nice personality.

He had a special problem because I needed a certain faucet to match the plumbing that was done 30 years ago so we wouldn't have to tear out the tiles in the tub area. He was very prompt in coming to do work. He also worked very quickly while he was here. He also was very good at communicating with me as we searched for faucets and stools.
Description of Work: Paul tore out my bathroom vanity and stool. He then ordered faucets, stool and tub/shower trim for the bathroom tub. He installed everything after my new cabinet and floor were installed.

I told him the problem and he came out within the hour to look at the problem, gave me an estimate and his availability. I was thrilled that he could do it all the same day. He was professional, helpful, efficient, everything you hope for when meeting a new service person for the first time. He took away all my worries and stress I had about how I was going to fix the water heater. I would call him again for any future needs or refer him to anyone who asks if I know a plumber.

 + -1 moreI removed my bathtub drain boot as it was was leaking and I figured it would be a quick repair. Unscrewed the old one and replaced it with a new one. As I removed it, I found out that it was not an easy replacement as the piping was so old the threads were shot and there needed to be a lot more done by a professional. Way out of my league. Contacted Paul on a Monday evening, he answered the phone. (Wow #1) I explained the situation (not an emergency but pretty high up on my list of things to do). He shared that he could be there the next morning. (Wow #2) He arrived the next day on time. (Wow #3) The repair was completed very quickly, professionally and with great customer service . It has been several weeks and I have had no problems! We received a %10 discount for being Angies List customers too. (Note to self: Paul/Benchmark is my plumber from now on. ) p.s. Benchmark does not accept credit cards. Checks and cash only. Thanks Paul.

 + -1 moreHe removed and replaced the drain and overflow and also had to replace connecting pipes since the tub was not up to today's standards as far as plumbing. That took some investigation. He supplied all the new parts and tested everything thoroughly. Another contractor had tried to remove the drain and could not. I called Friday afternoon and he came out the next Monday. Paul is very knowledgeable in his field and very professional and friendly and I would definitely hire him again.

 + -1 moreOverall the visit lived up to our expectations and actually surpassed them (see above). Would we recommend Paul Peltier to friends or family? We clearly would.
Description of Work: Each of our three toilets were inspected to try to trace the cause of their sub-optimal draining flow-age and speed. In two of the three cases, the plumber was able to improve the flow-age/speed. For one, he cleaned out residue clogging the siphon jet; for another, he removed a "wet one" towelette stuck in the out-flow pipe. In addition, for one of these toilets he replaced the hardware in the tank to help the amount of water flowing into the toilet. So in two of the three toilets inspected, he managed to measurably improve the flow-age, which was the main reason why we had him come out. He also checked the air vents on the roof (they checked out fine) and the intersection of toilet pipes in the basement (no obvious problems here either). Nonetheless, we were impressed by the thoroughness of his inspections. That he managed to replace the hardware in our downstairs toilet in less than a quarter hour and charged just $11 for the hardware suggested that he wasn't padding his time or materials, which we also appreciated.

Description of Work: Shower would only output hot water. Paul replaced a faulty cartridge in the valve apparatus and now it works great.
