Excellent. We had been using Golden Valley Pluming & Heating because they installed our old A/C system and furnace at a previous home. Because AC repair appointments had to be scheduled so far in advance with them, I searched Angie's list and contacted Air Quality Services (AQS) for a repair appointment. Even though I was a new customer, they offered to come out the same day I called but I had them come out two days later so I could be home for the appointment. They repaired our 11-year old air conditioning as well as they could, but told me that the newer units were much more efficient and that the type of AC we had was no longer produced and that parts were hard to find. They did clean out the unit and tested it for $114. I called their office that same day to get an estimate for a new system and the salesman was able to come out the same day. He demonstrated their system and gave me an estimate, applied the Angie's list discount coupon and offered to deduct an additional $50 because I had just had our old unit services. We accepted their proposal but before we could start, had to have an old through-the-wall AC (which we no longer used) removed, the hole framed, and the interior plaster and exterior stucco repaired, because one of the new units would go in that area of the wall. AQS provided me with the name of a stucco repair person who could perform this work at a reasonable price. After he did the repairs, AQS installed the new system on 8/24/11. Up to five people people worked on the demo of the old and install of the new system. They were all professional and courteous and went over the plan with me before beginning work. They had the same stucco repair person (John Hewitt - he was very good as well) to repair the exterior and interior holes in the walls where the old pipes for the old system ran. Everything was very well coordinated and efficient. When the system was installed, they tested it thoroughly and explained its operation. I was very happy with their performance, customer service and the services provided and would recommend them as well as use them again when needed.

Same as above. The other provider promised to get in touch within the hour. We are awaiting their call. We will provide a report when this experience is complete.

It went very well, he was very good at explaining what was going on with the pump, and what needed to be done. He also listened carefully to everything I told him :) We had been having trouble with the old one, it had been leaking water into the basement carpet. All fixed and not a problem since! Thanks!

Last fall AQS installed a high efficiency furnace and a new zone system in my home. My first impression was very positive, therefore, I decided to hire this company. They are NATE certified and seemed very knowledgeable. Everybody I had contact with from Jeff, who provided the estimate, to Brad, who with his crew installed the furnace, were friendly, courteous and professional. Even though I had done research about heating systems, I still had and asked many questions and they always took the time to answer them. I was not disappointed at all, it was a good experience and I am glad I selected this company, because I know I can work with them in the future for all my heating and cooling needs.

Woke up to a non-functional boiler for our water heated radiators. I could tell the thermocouple was shot, but could not figure out how to get at it. AQS came out later that day, performed a thorough inspection and confirmed that it was indeed the thermocouple. Not only did they replace it, but they taught me how to do the maintenance myself in the future, including several tricks and safety tips.

The two technicians who installed the furnace were efficient and clean. the work was complete in one day. They took the time to show me everything afterward and even showed me how to use all the functions of the thermostat (despite the fact it was installed by another company). Great experience.

My furnace was not maintaining a set temperature, so I called AQS to take a look at it. Matt, the technician, came out promptly and found the problem, which was a malfunctioning small part. Unfortunately for me, during his inspection of the unit, he found several cracks in the heat exchanger, which, potentially, could release carbon monoxide into the house. He tested for carbon monoxide (not present at the moment), and told me I needed to repair or replace the unit ASAP. Matt explained all my options, and had someone from the office contact me with a price quote. I did call another company for a quote. That company's price was competitive, but they also strongly recommended that I replace my air-conditioner at the same time (for, of course, an additional large expense). I called AQS to ask their opinion of replacing the air-conditioner at the same time. They asked me for the model of the air-conditioner, told me it was a good model, and advised not replacing it unless I had had problems with it. I much appreciated the advice of "if it's not broke, don't fix it." AQS was able to replace my existing furnace two days later. The crew was on time, took care to keep my house clean, finished the job earlier than I expected, and took the time to answer all my questions about the new furnace, humidifier and thermostat. The new thermostat was slightly smaller than the existing one, which exposed a small hole and some unpainted surface on my wall - not very attractive. Matt said he would see if he could locate a panel (apparently called a "beauty ring") to go behind the thermostat and cover the problems on the wall. I paid for the work done, and waited to see if they would actually get back in touch with me about my "beauty ring." Several days later, without any prompting from me, I got a call that they had found a beauty ring, and Matt came by to install it, without any additional charge. I was very happy with AQS. If and when my A/C unit dies, I will certainly be calling them again.

It’s an expensive and a complicated system. I have a water radiator, so don’t have a ductwork. There are 3 units installed in the interior of the house. They have to run the cooling in and moisture out. They knew exactly what was available and what I needed. They came over and gave me an estimate. I did shop around even after the quotation, but they never turned up. Then I went ahead with Air Quality Services Inc. They were professional and moved the furniture to install the air conditioner, themselves. Since, they were moving in and out, they ensured to protect the floor. They finished the job fast and also fixed my drier free of cost. They did an excellent job and I highly recommend their services. I will use them in the future too.

Furnance was running all the time and loud. Called this contractor after checking Angies List. From the front end staff to the installers they were very professional, kind and not pushy. They came out the same day and came back with an estimate that same night. I checked other providers and their estimate was the best. Their work was excellent. I would highly recommend this company for any HVAC work.

Bob the installer arrived about an hour later than Jeff had told me the night before. Aside from that I couldn't be happier. Furnace is quite, house is warm, bills already are showing a decrease in cost (comparing to the same months in previous years). Bob and the other installers cleaned up well beyond what I would have expected (cleaned up a mess I had made that wasn't related to what they were doing). After the installation Bob went over the manual and functions of the new furnace and thermostat. He also sat down and filled out all the rebate and tax credit paper work, the only thing I had to do was sign and date. Price for the furnace was almost two thousand less after tax credits and rebates.

Finally getting around to saying Thank You by doing this Angie's listing. They were friendly, helpful and very professional. We went from having two dehumidifiers running in the basement all summer to NONE, thanks to their suggestions on improved airflow.

They were very knowledgable and made customer service a high priority. They came early in the morning around 7:30 and were completed with the full job by 3. They even took care of all the old equipment. I would highly recommend them to anyone. They are a family owned business and you can tell they take pride in what they do.

Everything went very well. They're very thorough. They get right back to you if you have any questions. I've called them a couple of times with questions about settings on the furnace and Jeff always responded to me very quickly.

Excellent. The initial salesman, who also installs (and part of my decision to choose them was because the person giving the estimate (Brad), also does the work -- so I trusted his information more) was excellent -- very personable; good information; seemed to check everything that initially had to be checked; very respectful of my need for detail -- was never patronizing. Worked with me well on getting information to my townhouse association, providing a photo and specs so they could approve the new exterior vent. Bob, the installer, was excellent as well -- personable and efficient. He was so conscientious he even told me before he left that he had spilled a drop of primer on my laundry room floor -- he could have easily covered it up with the rug, but he told me -- I thought that was very good (and it was not a big deal!). Both representatives explained the furnaces, the rebates/tax credit -- it's an awful lot of information to absorb, and I called back with many questions before I hired them. They came with a good recommendation from a good friend and my son's mother-in-law -- who also had a good experience with them. It's a huge investment -- very important to have confidence in your people.

Brad and Jeff Von Ruden were responsive, timely and answered all my questions. Their price quote was also very competitive. Even after the sale and installation, Brad took the time to help me understand the system. They were also polite and professional. Overall, a very good experience.

Jeff is polite, knowledgeable, friendly, organized, and very responsive prior to the installation, and fairly responsive after installation. There were a few problems after installation, and the placement of the new exhaust pipe was done by one of the installers before the other could communicate what was desired so it would look as hidden as possible in our finished basement. We had some trouble with water leaks related to the humidifier system, which weren't discovered by us until we returned after being away that first weekend, so we did have some minor water damage, and they came out the day after it was reported. The last criticism is that they left the hole in the drywall for us to finish (around the new venting) and we are not do it yourselfers. They never asked if we could finish it, or offered a handy man, etc, nor did I expect it. They did offer the best price for what we wanted, and made sure to cater it to what we needed and wanted rather than automatically quote for stuff that we didn't need or want. We did get a free upgrade on the furnace due to unavailability of the one we decided on.

We met with 6 different companies and individual contractors to get bids on our furnace / ac / water heater replacement. We were looking for high efficiency models that would qualify us for the tax credit. The products represented included Lennox, Goodman, York, Coleman, and Carrier. The bids before the rebates and tax credits came in ranging from $9,400 to $7,000. Based on our comfort with the brand and overall impression of the person who visited our home, we were leaning towards Jeff's company and one other. I did not meet directly with Jeff, but my husband did. He felt like Jeff did a thorough job looking over the work to be done and didn't give the big "sales pitch", which he liked. I proceeded to exchange emails with Jeff in order to clarify some things with his estimate as well as his recommendation to install an electric water heater, which I was initially not comfortable with based on energy efficiency. I then asked what he could do to close a $500 gap between his estimate and the other we were considering. Via a phone conversation he stated he was willing to work with us but wanted to make sure we were comparing "apples to apples". Not being a tough negotiator, I left it at that, but I was disappointed he wouldn't do more to close the deal. Later that day I was expressing my frusteration with a friend who gave me a referral for someone he just used to do a similar job. I contacted this person, who came out the next day, provided me with a bid immediately, had a reasonable price, and a brand I liked (Carrier), so I decided to go with him. I contacted Jeff via email and let him know that unfortunately we had decided to go with another company. The email I received back read, "Good Morning, I'm proud to have educated you on everything to choose someone else, based on the information they could provide you at the last moment.... I'm sure it all came down to "Low Bid"........ Good luck w/ your installation...Jeff" Up until this point I thought I was dealing with a professional company, but after this I honestly can say I would in no way recommend this company to anyone. This is one of the most unprofessional responses I could have imagined getting when all he simply needed to say was "sorry to hear it, maybe we can do business in the future". When you are spending $8,000, as a buyer you have the right to seek out the company you feel you can trust and get a decent deal with. Had he negotiated the $500 difference, he would have had my business. Instead, I get a rude, unprofessional email -- all for looking out for my best interests. Do not use this company. No one should treat their clients or prospective clients this way. With hundreds of companies offering similar services, go somewhere else. What goes around, comes around, and this type of response, to me, only shows a person's true colors.

I called Air Quality Services for an estimate for an air exchanger on a kitchen remodel project. Brad was here, on time, the next day as scheduled. After reviewing our situation, Brad confirmed our suspicion that a ductless system was actually a better option for us - even though that would mean a loss of sale for AQS. He did not try to talk us into something we did not need. However, while he was here we asked him about an air quality problem we're having and he gave us some great advice and low-cost strategies to start with. We'll definitely call Air Quality Services if and when we need AQ products or service!

We met the AQS team at the Minneapolis Home & Garden Show and then looked them up on Angie’s List. We were interested in replacing our 20 year old furnace/AC system this year to take advantage of the federal tax credit for energy efficient upgrades and manufactures’ rebates. This family owned local business had a very professional display and presentation. It was especially impressive that they had their installer, Bob, at the booth to talk about their products. We arranged for Jeff, one of the owners, to come to our house to see what we needed. He quickly sent us a proposal. We asked to have the system installed in late May. The installers arrived on time and carefully covered all the floors where they would be walking. They worked quickly, quietly, and by the end of the day the equipment was running. Bob came back the next morning to complete the testing required for the tax credit and rebates. He also showed us how to program the thermostat and explained just how the separate pieces of equipment interact. AQS took care of submitting all the rebate forms. By the time we receive the rebates and the federal tax credit, the system will cost us about $3000 less than the price given above. All in all, we were very satisfied with the AQS team and would gladly recommend them to others.

Overall it went really well. Jeff was very responsive and the work was done quickly but thoroughly. The only advice we have for someone putting in an air conditioning unit is to change the air filter when the new unit is put in. We didn't do this and so when the system turned on tons of dust filled the filter and we had some small problems as a result that AQS took care of.

They were best of 3 estimates after I negotiated on price a bit. Unit was installed and works nicely. I would have liked to have more instructions on use.

It was a very good overall experience. I got quotes from the top 5 A/C companies on Angie's List. AQS provided a very competitive quote. Jeff was great to work with. Because, my old furnace was being replaced with a more energy efficient unit, we could not use the old exhaust process and my house layout did not afford a lot of options. AQS did a great job of coming up with an acceptable and unobtrusive place for the exhaust and air exchange pipes. Their installers and electrician were very friendly and professional, as well as their office staff.

This was a nice experience. The workers were professional and got the job done quickly and efficiently.

Jeff came out to give us an estimate for a furnace and central air after our furnace was red tagged. He was very knowledgeable and explained various options. There was no high pressure of any kind. He was responsive to our list of questions when we got back to him after we had done some more research and had other estimates. Their references had great things to say about the quality of their work and products and we fully agree. Jeff worked with us to get the furnace installed as quickly as possible and even helped coordinate with another company the cleaning of our ductwork before the furnace went in. Brad and ____? worked hard and did a nice job installing everything in one day. They returned a few weeks later to make sure everything was working well and to answer any questions. All the rebate paperwork was filed by AQS and we received the rebate checks. Recently Brad came back to help us adjust the air flow to various rooms to even out the air conditioning. Every interaction with everyone at AQS has been pleasant, helpful and professional. We would highly recommend them.

I contacted AQS based on a recommendation from my utility to investigate heat pumps. Their rating on Angie's list was compelling so I made an appointment. They were punctual and professional with regard to the appointment. Good information during the visit, good recommendations. The appointment wrapped up with a promise to deliver an estimate for the work discussed and also for an energy audit of the house. There was no response. I followed up in a week and the same promise was made again. There was no response. I followed up again - now over 3 weeks. A proposal was finally delivered via email. My guess is it took all of 30 minutes to put it together and get it out. The estimate was well over 2x the amount discussed during the visit. I don't know about you, but that speaks volumes to me - particularly when there is no accompanying explanation.
