Description of Work: We have a maintenance plan for our heating and cooling units that is serviced by O'Connor's. They installed both units for us 6-8 years ago and have maintained them ever since. They are always on time and courteous. When they are here performing the maintenance they always answer questions for us. We continue to purchase their maintenance plans and feel confident that our units will last a long time.

Description of Work: We have had a service plan with them for about 5 +/- years so they service our heating/AC 2x per year. Tom is who we request. He is awesome and so friendly and professional. Goes beyond the call of duty. We had a emergency AC call on the 1st because our AC overheated and was out. The guy that came out was also very friendly and professional and very prompt thought we did choose the quick service option. I thought we would have to wait into the weekend since it was so hot this last weekend but they came out within 2 hours of my call! We had Jake come out on the 5th to quote us a new AC unit since ours is on the end of it's life 20+ Years. He is very friendly and very professional, however, we felt the price was quite high based on talking to a friend who does Heating and AC work in southern MN. Obviously the prices won't be the same up here but... Our friend agreed to drive up and help us out and since $ is tight we have to go with him.

Description of Work: Called to have them clean and tune-up furnace. They came right on time, very polite and friendly. While cleaning the furnace found a crack in the firebox and said we shouldn't use it, it could leak carbon monoxide. One of their salesmen came out in a couple of hours and gave us an estimate on a new furnace. Ours was getting old and we had almost replaced it the year before. Looking at the furnace again, they decided we could use it but should replace it as soon as possible. We did get two other estimates and ended up going with another company that had put in air and a heat pump the year before. O'Connor was very professional though and gave a good estimate. We went with the other company due to using them before and liking them. But would call O'Connor again and use them in the future also.

Description of Work: To repair a water heater that they had installed earlier that year. I told him to please lease the insured parts (which they NEVER DID LEAVE), and that I could try and fix it myself or buy a whole new water heater for that price.

+ -1 moreThe furnace was not working in Feb. So we called them and they came and looked at it and it is 15 years old and we made the decision not to repair it and we decided to replace it. They hauled out the old one. They had the new one in within 24 hours. They had a guy come out that evening to go over what we wanted. Very good service.

+ -1 moreThey were offering a coupon for $44.50 for winter service and inspection. I was so upset with this company after they came out and gave me an estimate. They said there were major problems with my unit and I would need to replace then entire system. I wanted to get a second opinion from another company before I had them do the work. I received an 2nd opinion from another company that told me the unit was perfectly fine and nothing was wrong with it. My neighbor had the same exact experience with this company. Quite a few people in my neighborhood were being told the same exact thing. I find it hard to believe that so many people in my neighborhood needed to have their units replaced. This is more than just bad service. I was being conned into having a new unit installed when I really didn't need one.

+ -1 moreIt was a terrible- they were rude and wouldn't honor the warranty- or even give me the part that was under warranty. Once I had another plumber come out I realized they were going to up charge me $240 for this "warranty" service on a new water heater.
Description of Work: I had purchased a house in Hastings and O'Connor Plumbing was the company that installed the brand new (less than 6 months old) hot water heater. A part that was under warranty went out (relating to the pilot light) and I called them to come fix it, which I assumed would be cheap since it was still under warranty and since they were the company that installed it. They told me they would charge $300 to fix it!!! I told them I would find another company to do it cheaper and to just give me the warrantied part. They refused to do that and continued to send me bills for their estimate. I finally called another plumber who gave me the part for free and only charged me $60!!!

+ -1 moreIt was a good experience. Their service window was between 1 pm and 5 pm. A service representative called to say Jason was on his way and he arrived around 1:15 pm. He did have a wrong address, but I happened to check my mail and saw the service vehicle a couple of doors down the block. I waved him over. While he worked on the furnace, he had made a few trips for his equipment. I could understand this, because he had a lot of tools to work with. I asked a lot of questions, and he was knowledgeable and unperturbed. Jason finished within the one hour service time required and all is well. I would say the technician needs some better tools. He did use a toothbrush to do most of the dust cleaning. His nut driver was a little short for the job, so I lent him mine to help him along. This in no way hindered the service, but it would have been easier on his fingers.
Description of Work: A furnace cleaning and tuneup was done. The technician checked and cleaned the critical components of the furnace, the igniter, and the burner components. He checked the air filter (left a new filter, when my needs replacing) and vacuumed out the interior of the furnace. He also tested the gas pressure, any presence of carbon monoxide, and checked for gas leaks.

EVEN THOUGH IT SEEMED TO BE A STRESSFUL TIME FOR THEM, THEY ARRIVED ON TIME AND THE TECHNICIAN WAS PLEASANT AND INFORMATIVE. THEIR PRICES ARE FIXED AND NOT BASED ON AN HOURLY RATE.
Description of Work: OUR AIR CONDITIONER WAS NOT COOLING OUR HOME. WHEN O'CONNOR CAME OUT, THEY FOUND THE PROBLEM WAS A LOCKED UP COMPRESSOR. THE SERVICE TECH INSTALLED A HARD START KIT.
