The work crews at Air Mechanical were professional and courteous. We chose them because our furnace was red tagged, and they guaranteed heat at our house the following Monday. The duct work they did in our basement fixed our cold basement problem, and the Evolution control is pretty good. The main problem was the Evolution Air Source Heat Pump. The noise and the vibration sound of the condenser in the basement near our entertainment room was very annoying, which reverberates through the whole house, which is a two story with a walkout basement. In my bedroom on the 3rd floor, I could hear the heat pump start and run. It also had an intermittent rattle which, despite two service calls, were not diagnosed. Air Mechanical set the pump so that it runs if the outside air temp is 25 degrees or higher. The problem is that it runs all the time, meaning you get no break from the droning sound of the condenser pump. My advice, fellow members, is to ask for a reference and then ask that person if you can observe their heat pump in person before you buy. Air Mechanical brought a tech out here and found the unit to be noisy. After discussions with the company, they are replacing it with an air conditioner. Air Mechanical made it right for me, the customer, which I find incredible. What do we all want in a contractor? If something goes wrong, they make it right. How many companies do that? Air Mechanical made it right. Quick Note on the Quality Rating: I put it at C for the Heat Pump alone. The furnace and Duct Work was A+.

Our furnace broke (again) in the middle of the night on a cold December morning (15 F!) . Called Air Mechanical first thing when we got up and they sent a service man over right away at 11 AM...on a Sunday mind you. He diagnosed the problem and very gently told us what we already knew. The furnace wasn't even worth repairing. He went through all the reasons carefully so we knew he wasn't just trying to sell us a new furnace. So we asked if we could get a sales guys ASAP since I had to be to work in just a couple of hours. Bill came over shortly thereafter and gave us our options in a friendly NON-PUSHY manner. We made our choice and they were able to get 2 installers in THE NEXT DAY to install the furnace. We have two little kids and it was imperative we get heat as soon as possible. We LOVE the model we bought (parts and labor included for 10 years!) and are so happy to finally be rid of the dreaded fear the furnace is going to go out...again. Everyone that came to our house was friendly, very knowledgable, and very respectful. With the tax credit, Angies coupon, centerpoint energy rebate, and Bryant rebate the total altogether will be $2800!! Can't beat that for a top of the line furnace with the smartest thermostat (deluxe user interface) you've ever seen. Also, Air Mechanical takes care of all the paperwork for you so you don't have to fill out those annoying rebate forms. We are very impressed with this company and will recommend them in the future.

Great experience. Installers were great. The furnace was intalled 3 days sooner than promised. Installers were thoughtful about how we used the furnace room for storage. Everything about getting the new furnace was a positive experience.
Description of Work: Got a quick bid. Installers split the installation; removing the old furnace and giving me time to add drywall (to reduce noise) in the area surrounding the furnace. Left the furnace room clean. hauled away all trash.

Aaron was very accommodating, answering several questions for me. We have been replacing the humidifier water panel every year, and I asked him if that was necessary. After he looked at it, he told me it was not necessary to replace it now. Since he already had it with him, we purchased it anyway and will have Air Mechanical install it next year when they are here again or possibly install it ourself. They are supposed to charge $25 for an installed panel to cover the tech's time. Aaron has waived the labor fees in the past, but he said the company is cracking down on that practice. Aaron also gave me a price for a CO detector ($75), but he also recommended some brands that we could buy ourselves and save a few bucks. Air Mechanical is also doing plumbing now and we discussed replacing the water heater. Again, he was generous with his time in discussing that and gave us the price of their plumbing inspection ($87) for customers with the "preferred customer agreement." I only rated Aaron's professionalism as "B" because he probably spent more time talking to us than needed to answer my questions. He represents his company well and gave me the impression that they value our business.
Description of Work: We had our annual furnace tune-up and purchased a new water panel for the furnace humidifier. We have a preferred customer agreement with Air Mechanical that includes a furnace tune-up in the fall and an air conditioner tune-up in the spring. We paid $444 for that agreement for a 3-year period. This furnace tune-up would have cost $124.95, but there was no charge for that because it is included in our agreement. The $10.49 we paid is the cost of the water panel.

We purchased our townhome this Summer, and in early October entered into a service contract with Air Mechanical [having found them on Angie's List] to do inspection and routine maintenance on our furnace and AC. Bill Eddie [I may have misspelled his last name] was the technician who came out. He did a very thorough inspection of the furnace, and found a crack in the heat exchanger unit which made the furnace unsafe to operate. We hired Air Mechanical to fix the furnace, so Bill ordered the parts and about two weeks later did the repairs. Not only did Bill do an excellent job at finding the dangerous condition and fixing it, he went to bat for us with the home owner's warranty people, which eventually resulted in them agreeing to reimburse us for at least part of the repair cost. Bill is very friendly, knows his stuff, and goes the extra mile. I am very happy with the service I received from Bill and Air Mechanical, and look forward to them helping with all my heating and AC needs in the future.

We received bids from 6 different HVAC contractors which were recommended by Angie's List. They were evenly split on the size of the air conditioner needed according to their canculations. Half of the contractors said we needed a 2.5 ton unit and the other half recommended the 3 ton unit. Air Mechanical had the best price/warranty combination of the estimates we received. They filled out all apllicable energy rebate forms and sent them for us. After a hot summer and due to the fact we use the Excel Energy Savers Switch which cycles the air conditioning during peak demand the 3 ton unit which Air Mechanical recommended was the right choice. I found them to be pleasant and professional in their service and conduct.

We have been doing business with Air Mechanical for several years. As always, their service guy was prompt and professional. He communicated with my wife respectfully.
Description of Work: We have a preferred customer agreement with Air Mechanical which entitles us to a furnace tune-up once a year and an A/C tune-up once a year. This was an A/C tune-up. The service guy Bill cleaned the A/C condenser, checked the drain and system charge and made sure that the A/C was operating correctly. There was no charge for this visit due to our agreement. We paid $444 for the Preferred Customer Agreement for a 3-year period.

Price was excellent, installation on time and installers left no mess. They had to return to modify a couple of things identified by the city inspector, but it may have been due to a picky inspector rather than workmanship.

Response from Air Mechanical Inc
Dear Member, I surely understand your thought process on the charges on your humidifier. Unfortunately, we normally do not do installations on equipment that is not purchased by Air Mechanical, however when asked if we could, I made an exception in this case because you were an Angie's List member. When factoring in the price, site unseen, we factor in around 3 hours of labor to install, and there is an estimated $50 in additional materials to do the job correctly. We also need to abide by all the plumbing codes which many other companies do not adhere to. For example, we do not use the standard piercing valve that comes with the kit of materials, as most cities require we cut into the pipe and use a Copper-"T" fitting. The fitting allows for better passage of moisture needed to humidify the space. When installing the bypass, Air Mechanical also chooses to use hard galvanized pipe vs. flex duct which is non-insulated and has cupped ridges which can hold moisture in the bottom of those ridges. This is just one difficulty of quoting prices over the phone, and since we had not seen the site, seemed like a fair price at the time. In the end, we would have installed your humifier for $50 less than we normally price a standard installation. We also offer a 1 year wokmanship gaurantee to our service customers on such installations. Your business is important to us. If you have not installed the humidier yet, I would like to offer a free visit to your home to take a look at the unit you purchased and the area it will be installed in to better determine your needs, and I will still honor the price given. If you have had your humidier installed already, we offer a maintenance program and I would happy to discount the humidifier portion of the agreement, $25. I will make a note on your account to that affect should you decide you might be interested. Best Wishes, Jim Paar Manager Air Mechanical, Inc. 763-746-3758 Heating, Cooling & Plumbing "Creating Custom Comfort" Since 1985!

We are happy with them. The price was reasonable. They did a good job. The representative could have told us that he had got the system running for us and put that part back into the system. He did not do that. He removed it hard and dug deeper into it and found out what was actually causing the problem. He was conscientious. He explained what he was doing and why. I was pleased with him.

Excellently- starting with the detailed estimate with paperwork done by company for rebates. All workers were on time and professional. They laid a cloth on carpet and basement steps to prevent soiling. Care was taken to put the vents in the appropriate place away from fresh air intake. The installation went smoothly and installers appeared experienced. The duct cleaning was thorough and done with care. Before and after pictures taken of ducts. Heat pump/air conditioner is working without any problems. Programmable thermostat is fantastic.

As always, the Air Mechanical service tech was prompt and courteous. They always provide a checklist and summary of the inspection. Even though the quoted price to install the water panel is $25, he charged us only for the $11.24 cost of the panel.
Description of Work: Air Mechanical performed the annual inspection and tune-up of our furnace. They also replaced the water panel on the humidifier connected to the furnace. We had received two estimates and this company had the best offer, plus my husband liked the guy we spoke to. They did a fine job, but when the item was installed, they had installed a humidifier and set it for summer and we weren't getting any moisture in our home during the winter. After they installed the items, we were told there would be a walk through. They did not schedule a walk through, which is when that issue would have been caught in the beginning. They explained that they had been very busy, and couldn't get one scheduled. In part, that was not my problem and if the company says this is part of their policy, they need to stick with it. At my request, they did come and found the problem with the humidifier. Overall, the job was done well, and we would use them again in the future if necessary.

This company is fantastic! I can't say enough good things about everyone I came in contact with. I called on a Friday morning, and a very knowledgeable salesperson (Bill P.) came out that same day, inspected our old furnace, reviewed the heat requirements of our house, and wrote up a proposal for a new furnace. He even offered to relocate our dryer vent at no charge, should it be necessary. He went over the proposal in detail with me. We decided to go with them based on their competitive price and the quality of the furnace they sell. Brandon and Jeff came the following Wednesday (on time), answered all our questions and discussed our concerns, took out the old furnace, installed the new furnace with a change to the original plan. Exhaust/intake pipe went out the house in a different spot than originally planned, after they made a couple of phone calls to check on codes and regulations. They did a great job of cleanup, took care of sealing off the old exhaust pipe, explained how everything worked to us, did not take any shortcuts. Tina in the office was very accommodating about getting our paperwork to us early so we could get the inspector in (who OK'd everything). She also takes care of rebates ($150 from Bryant, $100 from XCEL Energy). This furnace also qualifies for a federal tax credit of $1370, bringing the cost under what was stated above. Everyone was a pleasure to work with. This is an outstanding company, and we will not hesitate to use them again!

We chose them based on price, furnace brand/features, and the ratings from Angie's list. The office staff & sales were as responsive and friendly as reported. The installation was of dubious quality...primarily due to their attention to detail. Among the issues: gaps were left, caulking was poorly smeared or not applied and the installers cursed and made comments that were transmitted throughout the house (duckwork!) that taught my kids new words and made us wonder whether the job was done correctly. Also, they left pvc shavings, screws, and nails throughout the basement and embedded in the area rug and a tacky mess that needed to be scraped off the floor. Those issues will always leave me wondering if they took shortcuts that compromised the quality of the install.

Our furnace stop circulating cold air sometime Friday. We decided to wait until Monday, to avoid an emergency call fee We have a two story house, and even with the windows open it was unbearable sleeping weather. On Monday morning I called a couple companies based on reviews from Angies List. Aaron arrived on time, from Air Mechanical Inc. he was friendly and professional, I thought the blower fan was gonna out, but he quickly found the problem. It was the capacitor unit which was a lot cheaper. We now have ice cold air throughout the house again.
Description of Work: Aaron from Air Mechanical Inc arrived and was told that the furnace is no longer circulating cold air. I told him I thought it was the blower motor, and another heating company told me that since it’s a Carrie furnace it’s going to be more expensive. Aaron quickly said that statement from the other heating company was false since all blower motors are universal fit. Aaron discovered the problem to be a faulty capacitor unit that was no longer functioning and replaced it with a new unit, and the furnace was producing cold air again. On top of fixing the furnace they took a 40.00 off coupon from Angies List.

The service rep was on time when he came to estimate the work. He was very knowledgeable and noted work that needed to be done to bring the work up to code and to make the air exchanger work more efficiently. Work was scheduled with a 25% down payment. The service guys showed up on time. They discussed and answered questions about the work. they were polite, knowledgeable and respectful. Jeff gave us a quote for a new furnace, air conditioner and heat pump. At the time of the quote, we wanted a new A/C and furnace. We had not investigated getting a heat pump versus an A/C. Jeff gave us a quote for all 3 saying that we needed to know all of our options before deciding what we wanted. He was very professional and answered all of our questions. We had quotes from 3 other heating professionals which all quoted the same price range for furnace and A/C. After doing some additional research, we chose Air Mechanical because they included the quote for a heat pump which we eventually decided we liked better than an air conditioner. On the day of the install, the installers found that our utility room presented additional problems that hadn't been anticipated. They indicated that we would need two days for installation but promised that they wouldn't leave us without heat on the first day. They were very professional, and ended up staying 12 hours to get the job completed in one day. They were even great with my son who brought them muffins while they were working. Jeff stopped by during the install to make sure things were going smoothly. Our floors were covered with drop cloths to prevent messes and they did a very thorough job cleaning up. Besides installing a new furnace and heat pump, they added 3 return vents in our lower level. Our lower level has gone from being 10 degrees cooler than our upstairs to only being 1 degree different.
