Very professional and nice guys. Went right to work and diagnosed the problem. A capacitor in the outside unit had burnt out and sent an electrical charge to the circuit board and fired it! He let me watch him and explained everything including his meter readings. He rewired the system so we'd have air and put parts on order. He figured out how to make the system work pretty well in spite of the broken parts!Air was working within 40 minutes of when he came. The next Monday parts were in and a new service call was scheduled to install them. Again a very nice professional guy showed up. Showed me the parts and let me watch him work. Took him about an hour and the system was functioning just like new! They far surpassed my expectations and met out emergency needs. There is no doubt in my mind that the work they did was what was needed. The price, considering it was an emergency call and all was very fair in my opinion! They will probably be my new yearly maintenance contractor and I wouldn't be afraid to call them for any heating/air problems! My highest recommendation!
Description of Work: Central air conditioner went out at dinner time. It was one of the hottest days of the year! Called our installer, Standard Air and they didn't do emergency calls and couldn't call me back until the next day. House was heating up, outside temperature was well in the high 90's. Went to Angie's list and found Air Mechanical. Called them. Call was returned in less than 20 minutes! I was told the cost of an emergency call right up front and told them to just come out since the house was now over heating. They arrived within less than an hour. Very professional and nice guy. Went right to work and diagnosed the problem. A capacitor in the outside unit had burnt out and sent an electrical charge to the circuit board and fired it! He let me watch him and explained everything including his meter readings. He rewired the system so we'd have air and put parts on order. Description of Work: I had all of my air ducts cleaned along with the returns and the main. The company charges the same price for homes under 2,000 sq ft and then $20 for every 500 sq ft above 2,000. This is nice because most companys charge per duct.

The technician that was supposed to meet me for the estimate got delayed with another job, but when I called they immediately sent someone else out to complete the estimate. They were able to get started on the project within a couple of days and everything when very smoothly. They had esitamted it to be about a 8-10 hour job, bu they sent two guys and they finished it in about 5 hours and everything was perfect.

I request quotes from Air Mechanical for both a conventional and geothermal system install in my pre-existing home. A rep from the company came out and met with me at my home. The process of setting up the meeting was pretty good, but they never came through with estimates. During his time at my home he looked over everything and took detailed notes. I expected to get a quote, but nothing, so I went with another company.

Aaron called before coming and arrived on time. I opened the garage door when he pulled up, and he had the courtesy to stop in to tell me that he was eating his lunch before beginning the work. Aaron wore booties when he needed to walk across the carpet to adjust the thermostat. He worked quickly and documented his findings thoroughly on Air Mechanical's checklist. There was no charge for this visit since it was covered on the 3-year agreement. Aaron indicated that the system was working fine and did not try to sell us any other services. He was professional and respectful as has been our experience with all Air Mechanical technicians who have come out over the years.
Description of Work: Air Conditioning Efficiency Tune-up -- checked the operation and condition of the air conditioner and provided a checklist report of the tests completed and the items check. This visit was the final one included in a 3-year Preferred Customer Agreement with Air Mechanical. We paid $444 for the three year agreement which provided us with an annual fall furnace inspection and cleaning and annual spring air conditioning tune-up.

Wasted my time and money on an inspection and cleaning when there were signs of distress within system. In addition inspection and cleaning was poor During execution of my annual inspection and cleaning that was part of a contract I signed, the technician proceeded with an extensive and unexpected (4 hour) process, even though there was the presence of CO in the house and an Inducer going out. At the cost of replacement or repair, replacement of the unit would be a strong possibility. What was causing the CO was never discovered during the inspection and although "probably" a crack in the heat exchange, the effort wasn't made to look at it. Ample fear of the situation was certainly installed by the technician however, with the suggestion that the furnace not be run. However, When I reached out to Air Mechanical, the earliest they could send someone out to even discuss it with me was the following Monday afternoon (this was Friday) causing me to miss another 1/2 day of work. Installation would come another 2 days (more missed work). At this point, I would lose the whole day of work with the process and the concern at the end. As enough concern was generated, I called another person familiar with the "Trane" brand. They came out and took a look at the system, which included finding a very loose screw in the secondary exchanger (evident that the technician for Air Mechanical didn't even go to this extent to look at the secondary exchangers or attempt to fix this). They agreed there was an issue with the system and the Inducer so we made arrangements to replace the system. They came out on a Sunday so I wouldn't have to miss work at no addition charge for that service. In the process, it was discovered that inside the air conditioner coils was an ample amount of caked on debris (built of dust) which might have come from the electronic cleaner failure over time or more than likely from a previous resident running system with no filter (I have always used the electronic system and kept it clean as advised). The individual installing the system said that the significant blockage should have been caught upon any of the previous inspections of the system (both air and heat). I've always used Air Mechanical for these inspections. The early failure of the system (12 years old) is directly linked to the system having to work so hard around this obstruction. Not only did Air Mechanical not pick up this, if there was an issue with the Air Cleaner, part of the furnace, that was also never discovered. I pay for these rather expensive inspection/cleanings to prevent something like this and to have an efficient running furnace. So I feel that the cleanings/inspections were not thorough so they didn't deliver as promised, rendering my fees I have paid over the past six years worthless, espcially this last one (value around $1,000). This negligence cause my system to fail at least 3-8 years before it should have (value of the system at $3,600 original value, I lose $540 of life on the system). I could site the lost time from work, the potential health hazard to my family, etc. When I called to discuss with their service manager, I got lip service and mostly reasons why this was insignificant. Mostly concerned that I replace the furnace and they couldn't take advantage of being the one to do it by not responding fast enough.
Description of Work: Had signed up for the service contract to have the furnace inspected and cleaned. Have engaged them over the last 6 years for the same function for the furnace and the air conditioner.

Response from Air Mechanical Inc
AIR MECHANICAL reached out to this homeowner via post card reminder and telephone 9 times to schedule maintenance for his HVAC equipment. The member elected to have service maintenance every other year or couple years. AIR MECHANICAL had not been out in 2 years, and several problems can occur with an older furnace. Industry average life expectancy is 12-15 years for HVAC systems. AIR MECHANICAL has history with this custom on recommending repairs however the member declined to have the repairs made on his system. During the years the member elected to use our service, his readings from the tune-ups were generally good, although there was one borderline reading. In this case of the AC, it never was frosting up or freezing. During the last visit, we spend 4 hours trying to diagnose this problem for him. Cracks in heat exchangers are very difficult, and the CO readings were well within normal safety levels. Cracks in heat exchanges are very difficult to find, and AIR MECHANICAL literally has spend hundreds of hours of specialized training on this to ensure technicians have every advantage of doing their job properly while in the home, and it is important to us that all reasonable safety practices are followed. In this case, our technician did missed it, but again the parts per million were well within a safe range. Anything over 9 parts per million would be a sure cause for concern. We did make the mistake of not scheduling same day; however there was no immediate concern of safety. AIR MECHANICAL does hundreds of cracked heat exchangers per year. As you can see, we have phenomenal reports in the past. Plus we have won the Super Service Award 5 years in row. When we have had a questionable report, management gets involved to make sure we work with the homeowners in good faith to work out a fair and amenable solution. Sincerely, Jim Paar General Manager

Quite well. 2 men showed up on time. One of them was more professional than the other which I appreciated. I had done the work of moving floor and wallboard out of the way was prior to their work. Brad did a thorough job assessing our home for the appropriate size appliances, including a Manual J calculation. One provider didn't even do one so didn't consider them. Another provider even did a more detailed Manual J, but ended up with generally the same number and subsequent furnace size. That calculation led to a much smaller furnace than the one we have now, so that was nice. We needed to have our thermostat and current all-house humidifier moved and Brad included all that in his price where others did not. The installers were incredibly nice and professional. Only one technician showed up due to family emergency so we had to spread the install over two separate days but the people at Air Mechanical were very apologetic about it. Moving the thermostat was tricky, and the technician did a good job communicating options that had the least amount of mess to walls and ceilings. I love this new furnace! We went with the Bryant Evolution. I honestly don't ever hear this thing compared to the beast we had before. I have to go check that it's on! All in all, Air Mechanical clearly had the best price, did the required analysis of our home, recommended several options, didn't really try and upsell unnecessary things (except for the air pump), did all the rebate paperwork for us, spoke with pride for the company and were very pleasant to work with. Only thing I would recommend is to make sure potential customers understand up front if you're deeply discounting price already and thus won't get the $250 off coupon referenced on Angie's List. They ended up giving me some of that coupon, and I knew I'd gotten a really good price, but knowing up front would have been nice.
Description of Work: I solicited bids for a new furnace and AC from three providers, including Air Mechanical. All were NATE and ACCA certified, which I was looking for due to many Internet reports warning of poor installation causing majority of problems with furnace and AC issues.

Tom's service was great. We have only lived in the house for a year and half . The house was built 5 years ago. The most hepful was explaning what my air exchanger was how it worked and how it worked with the heat/air. He also explained how my air conditioning works with in the different levels with in the house. Tom took his time to trouble shoot what might be causing the warmer air to come out of the air conditioner. He checked everything out., He finally concluded that during the hotter days that the air exchanger had been bringing in warm air stressing the system and that the system was trying to cool all 3 levels at the same time. Were the basement stays cool by itself it was not needed to cool the basement so we turned that thermostat to a higher temp. The middle floor was set at a medium temp and the top floor at the coolest level. Tom also cleaned out the outside unit so it had to work less. That night it had been the coolest in the master bedroom since we bought the house. I was happy to find that I didn't have to replace the motor etc. I was worried that I was going to be taken advantage of since I did not understand how my heat/air worked. That was not the case. I thought it was well worth having AIR MECHANICAL INC coming out to my house to check my system out. I will be using them in the future for my air and heat needs.

Perfectly. The story is in the services performed section.
Description of Work: I had them come out to check my 16 year old furnace, which they had installed as original equipment when my place was built in 1994. The technician was very thorough, explained to me exactly what needed to be done and what the likely cost would be, which was about half the price of a new furnace. So I opted to go with a new furnace, they had a salesperson out that same day. I signed a contract and got multiple discounts, they took off the price of the service call, gave me a $100 coupon for a furnace and deducted $200 because it was a non-emergency call. I just missed the install date for the energy rebate program, but I was completely satisfied with their service. I had them out once before on an air conditioning issue and was completely satisfied with that experience too. I'd recommend them to anyone.
