Platinum Remodeling & Handyman Services

General Remodeling, Handyman Services, Kitchen and Bath Remodeling,

About us

Platinum Remodeling and Handyman Services was founded in February of 2005 when I bought out House Doctors-Southwest Metro. I had been the operations manager of House Doctors since it's inception in late 2002. I ran all of the day to day operations, estimated, scheduled, and managed all projects. When I started Platinum, I hired three of my previous co-workers and we never missed a beat! I have a degree in Entrepreneurship and Small Business Strategies from Iowa State University. This business degree paired with my experience and passion for residential remodeling made this venture a perfect fit. I am the third generation of Shonkwilers to own a construction company. I grew up in the remodeling and construction industry working for my father's company, Shonkwiler Brothers Construction. My father got started working with my grandfather and his company, Shonkwiler Construction. As of September 2007 my father has joined my team. I'm excited to bring his 32+ years in the residential construction industry, unmatched craftsmanship, integrity, and small town Iowa work ethic to the Twin Cities! I have acquired great employees with unique skill sets allowing us to complete a wide variety of projects. All employees are highly capable and take pride in a job well done. My employees are all "handy", but each has their own specialties and I use the employee that best suits your project. All employees have undergone background checks and drug tests. They are bonded and covered by workers compensation. I also have great subcontractors that I use on large projects and where licensed professionals (electricians, machinists, plumbers) are needed. We also use specialty subcontractors for things like large drywall projects, Cambria or stone countertops, floor refinishing, landscaping.....among many others. All of our work comes with a one year warranty on the labor, all materials carry the manufacturer's warranty. All subcontractors warrant their work as well. I have a Minnesota Residential Remodeler's license. The company is covered by liability insurance, worker's compensation and the employees are bonded.

After Platinum did such an incredible job on our complete reno of the upstairs bathroom, I couldn't wait to have them tackle the lower level bath and laundry room. We did the demo to cut costs a bit and laid out new wall placement for the framing and drywall. Josh was great about letting me handle the re-design ( as he was with the first project) I never once had the impression that he thought "this one has seen too much HGTV"! Platinum replaced the original failing window in the laundry area and completely restored the walls and insulated the laundry area. Tony the plumber reworked the plumbing to accommodate a stacking washer/dryer and eliminate the need for a laundry tub. Josh had great ideas for overhead lighting and actually spray painted the laundry room ceiling to eliminate the need to install any ceiling panels- and it looks fantastic! We wanted custom cabinetry for laundry hampers, folding surface and storage and Josh found a great family owned company to build exactly what we envisioned. The cabinets were installed by Platinum's crack carpenters and the area functions AND looks better than i had ever hoped for. The bathroom was in really rough shape and was also completely gutted. The space was re-imagined and some plumbing moved to create the illusion of more space. The electrical needed a big restoration as well and Chad was able to clean up a lot of the previous homeowners handiwork! We now have a beautiful shower with a frameless shower glass, floor to ceiling tiled surround and amazing tile floors. The tile job was a real headache to the tilesetters Josh and Eddie, but they created a gorgeous detailed floor in both rooms We re-purposed the fixtures from the upstairs bath and it is hard to believe how great they look! Josh never hesitated using the "salvaged" stuff and took great care removing them for us from the upstairs when we told him we wanted to reuse them. We never sought out bids for the second project as we were so completely happy with our upstairs bathroom. All the tradespeople have been so professional, kind, respectful, punctual and clean. We have dogs who might have been a pain to them, but they never made me feel that way. Despite the hub-bub of two major projects in six months, I am actually looking forward to the remodel of the rest of our basement space! And the ONLY people i want on this project are the Platinum team. They are single-handedly restoring our 1920's SW Mpls home into a vintage home with contemporary live-ability!
Description of Work: Created an amazing new laundry room and great bathroom in 1920's home. Rebuilt everything ceiling to floor; new walls, moved plumbing to make the small bathroom work better; upgraded all electrical; replumbed for new washer and dryer and eliminated an old laundry tub; completely tiled new shower surround and extensive floor tiling in bath and laundry room; installed new glass block window and generally breathed new life into a old space!

Thank you so much for the great review! It is fun to work on projects that transform a space into something that brings this much pleasure to a customer. It was great to work with you again and we look forward on whatever the next project may be. We appreciate your business and how you are caring for "this old house"! To give credit where credit is due Tony the plumber is from AM Plumbing and Chad the electrician is from Vivid Electric.

"wow! this is our second project with platinum this year- they did a complete reno on our upstairs bathroom...and no doubt this second was the toughest for them (not us!) Josh and his team have taken our funky old laundry room and second bathroom from barely functional to AMAZING! Both rooms were gutted to the studs and rebuilt better than new with extensive tilework (floors and shower enclosure), new insulation, framing and drywall. the electrician (under Josh's direction) improved the laundry room lighting; the plumber eliminated the old laundry tub to connect the washer dryer directly in to the lines,( creating the contemporary laundry room found in newer high end homes! i am excited to do laundry!) moved the plumbing for the bathroom sink giving us better use of space and reframed the small room to look and function on an all new level. the tilework was a huge undertaking as i wanted "close to" period appropriate style tiles which required the skills of a real master tile setter (thank you, J2!) Josh made sure to keep all expenses controlled (going above and beyond to find the best options for any "old house" issue) and never assumed any variance from the VERY accurate estimate would be acceptable. I am very attentive to details and communication and i never felt that i was ever "in the dark" on any detail- every email was answered promptly and with good humor; every step of the project stayed on schedule and budget Josh understands older homes and respects concerns to keep "period appropriate" details and still add contemporary function. All the staff are personable, skilled and delightful to have around! we have 3 dogs and i never felt that anyone found them intrusive- everyone made an effort to greet the animals and try to reduce to stress on them. we are almost running out of "big" projects but will ALWAYS call Josh first- We did not even seek out multiple estimates on our most current project. we will never have a need to seek out anyone else to help us with "this old house"! i cannot say enough great things about this company and i thank Josh the owner for creating a culture that brings skilled crafts-people and homeowners together. i could be addicted to rehab with a partner like platinum!
Description of Work: rebuilt the lower level bathroom and laundry room in our 1920's home- reframed rooms, insulated, painted, laid extensive tiles on a 1920( less than perfect) floor, rebuilt a formerly "plastic" enclosed shower to a tiled beauty!

I have used Platinum for multiple handyman projects over the past 5 years or so. Just small jobs here and there. Dick, the owner's dad, usually comes out to those and does a great job. Very fast turnaround and reasonably priced. After we bought our fixer upper in Edina last year, i figured i'd give them a shot for our big remodel, and we ended up using them to do everything. Complete basement remodel with bath, and mast bath/closet remodel as well. We couldn't be happier with how things turned out.

The bathroom in our 1911-built home was falling apart. The tub's hot water faucet was totally broken, spun completely around and didn't do a thing. We had to turn the faucet on and off by lifting a countertop and using the shut-off valve. 1950's plastic tile was falling off the walls. Original 100-plus year-old linoleum was disintegrating. Before contacting Platinum, we talked to a good friend, who works for a different remodeling company here in town. He did an estimate for us, which came out at $15,800. Even with this high amount, it was assuming we would provide the cabinets and fixtures, do the painting, etc. We were blown away, and not in a good way. This friend's approach to giving an estimate was basically to bad-mouth our current bathroom in order to explain how much more fabulous it would be after it's done. ("This room has an awful layout." "That tub's so shallow it's not even worth it." etc) He was very interested in relocating the tub plumbing controls to an adjacent closet wall so the tub could be moved 2 or 3 inches closer to the exterior wall. I told him I wasn't interested in moving the tub, but the idea stuck with him. His estimate also didn't include installing a heated floor, which we opted to do in the end. Instead of feeling inspired to renovate and empowered to make decisions, I was left feeling bummed out about my house, and frustrated that I didn't feel I was being heard. We decided our friend is a good friend, but that we didn't want to mix friendship and business, and that we needed a different contractor. We contacted Platinum, and the experience was a night-and-day difference. At first we thought we could get by with a minor cosmetic spruce-up, and wanted Platinum to do some demo work for us, and then install new toilet, cabinets and accessories for us once we were done refinishing the floors and painting the walls. As soon as we started the demo, we realized there was no way to salvage the 1950's plastic tiles on the walls, and there was no pine-plank subfloor for me to refinish. So a bigger renovation it would have to be. Tile walls, wainscoting, chair rail, new toilet, cabinets and heated marble floor were called for. The genius of this company is that it's a hybrid company -- both handyman service and remodeler. I think their job minimum is approximately $150. When you're looking to renovate, usually companies have a much higher minimum job amount, in the thousands of dollars, because they don't take on small jobs. I found Josh to be very cordial and responsive in my initial contact. He handed our job off to his sister Anna, who manages the Small Projects. Anna is wonderful. Super responsive, very helpful, and great at providing suggestions. My 7 year-old son loved her off the bat and invited her to join our family within 5 minutes of meeting her. She did a super job scheduling the workers and subcontractors. It worked like clockwork, and I always knew who would be coming to my house and when. We did most of our communicationns via email, sending links to products back and forth, etc. Really convenient. Dick (Anna and Josh's father) is a great craftstman. He installed the cabinets and most of the woodwork in the bathroom. He's also just a nice person to be around. I was a little sad when Dick packed up his stuff and left. Joe did the tile work and much of the finishing work. He pays great attention to detail, makes sure everything lines up perfectly. You know the best part about my experience? Not one person involved in the project made me stupid, ever! They patiently presented options when my house threw them curve balls, they didn't question my desire to keep our vintage 1950's medicine cabinet and sink, and Anna never laughed at my initial idea of refinishing pine subfloors in a bathroom. Another nice thing is that they were willing to let me do some of the work to keep costs down. I assembled cabinets, demo'd the wall tile and linoleum floor, and did all the painting. I think some contractors have an all-or-nothing approach, where they won't install cabinets if the client assembles them, etc. We also took care of measuring, ordering and installing the granite countertops ourselves. Also, I was not limited to a particular brand, dealer or showroom when it came to selecting fixtures and materials. I found tile and a bath faucet I wanted from California, got the cabinets at IKEA. Anna and I just sat down in my living room with a list of what materials we needed, and agreed to who would be supplying what. It worked out just fine. I provided many of the materials (marble tile, toilet, cabinets, countertops, accessories), so those are not included in the $8,200.00 amount. The Platinum folks were really nice to have around, and always very punctual. I had no qualms about them working in the house when we were not home. They work very hard and do a great job cleaning up the site at the end of each day. Anna is budget-conscious. At no point did I worry that this job was going to run out of control. Plumbing and electrical passed City inspection with zero issues. We hope to renovate our kitchen in a year or two, and when we do, we will call Platinum. Period. We won't even both with multiple estimates. Once you've found a great company, you stick with them.

We had had several negative experiences with other companies in an attempt to try to resolve the issues noted above, which occurred as a combo of ice dam and squirrel damage. Our experience with Platinum was wonderful from start to finish. We accessed services through the Handyman part of the company. Anna came out to do the estimate and coordinated all of the work. They are quite busy so the waiting list is a bit long, but it was worth the wait (I think the wait was maybe a month from the time of the estimate). Platinum was professional, thorough, timely, and super clean! They always left our house in good condition at the end of the day. They also went above and beyond, adding some projects on that weren't in the initial estimate and taking care of some small items that came up along the way. Anna herself came out to finish some painting on a Saturday since our projects ended up taking longer than initially planned. Platinum subcontracts gutter installation. Gutters are great and were installed quickly. A few weeks after the repairs, we noticed an issue with the rear storm door getting stuck. We e-mailed Anna and she responded super fast--her dad came out the next morning to fix it. We definitely plan to continue using Platinum for our handyman needs, and hopefully some remodeling in the future!
Description of Work: Bathroom: sistered on joists in ceiling, installed and vented exhaust fan, replaced insulation and drywall, replaced door knob, primed and painted all surfaces; rear entry: replaced entry and storm door, sistered on joists in ceiling, replaced insulation and drywall, moved and replaced electrical wiring and installing new ceiling light, primed some surfaces, painted rear entry door; exterior: patched numerous holes in soffit and foundation, replaced a rotted board behind gutters; installed new gutters on both sides of house

I have used Platinum Remodeling for many smaller projects and repairs in the past and have always been satisfied with the quality of their work. All of this has led up to the biggest project yet, the kitchen. We got bids from several of the "big name" remodelers in town but ultimately ended-up going with someone we trust, Josh Shonkwiler and Platinum. Not only did they live up to the standards that we expected, they exceeded them, especially in time to completion! The crew is like a family. We have seen many of these same people on smaller projects over the years. They are friendly and super respectful of your home and privacy. It's no wonder that they have grown-up from a small handyman service!! I have recommended them to family, friends and anyone else for small and large jobs. Sincerely, Marty

Remodeling is a challenge under the best of conditions, but somehow Josh and his crew made it as seemless as possible. The room was stripped down to the studs and required boiler, electrical and plumbing upgrades. I was given a full project schedule up front and well-defined and very accurate estimates for the wide range of work required. Every sub-contractor was punctual and professional. We have dogs and despite their "interest", it never proved a problem. I am a detail person who requested and received very complete and regular responses to my questions and observations. Any minor "glitch" was addressed immediately and no concern was overlooked. Our home had several "upgrades" done by a previous homeowner that needed professional attention and the subs all had great backgrounds with "old home" issues The work included removing the old radiator and replacing it with a low profile euro style one, a new window, insulation, new (cast iron HEAVY ) tub, extensive tile work in shower and floor, new lighting and electrical work, new vanity, sink, built-in medicine cabinet and low water use toilet.as well as all new "millwork" and all new fixtures The team even identified an insulation problem that effected one of our front bedrooms (inadequate/dated attic insulation) We have a beautiful bathroom now and are in the planning/estimate process to have Josh remodel our second bathroom and laundry area.

My experience could not have been better! I started initial communication via email with Platinum Remodeling and Anna was extremely helpful the entire process. The timeline I was given for scheduling was convenient & realistic. I was able to send Anna pictures via email of the work that needed to be completed and she was able to provide me an estimate almost immediately for the work. The technicial that did the work was on time (even a little early!) and completed the repair flawlessly. I'm very pleased with the work, professionalism, and ease of communication this company provides!

The estimate was $150 to screw on a toilet I already have installed. Then charge $1400 to paint a bathroom the size of a closet. The overprice game that this company plays is ridicules. Avoid being a sucker and falling for this companies tricks. Approximate cost 15610.00.

Response from Chad, our estimator, who is the only one that had contact with this customer so far "It was difficult to communicate with this client as they did not meet me at their house when I was there for the initial estimate. I met with their son instead. The son was very polite and walked me through their South Minneapolis 1st floor bathroom that had a bathtub only without shower controls. The current bathroom did not have a vent fan so that would have to be installed and vented to the exterior and they also wanted to replace the window. I would suspect the bathroom had not been remodeled in 40+ years. I told them that this would be a complete gut and that we would tear everything down to the framing and start over. The son had said that his dad did not want a bathtub anymore and wanted a shower only. With this in mind I recommended doing tile for the shower base and shower surround. He had said his budget was $10,000 and I said with the scope of work they wanted they would land in the $14,000 - $16,000 range pending on their final plumbing, tile and lighting fixture selections. He thought that seemed high but I explained that we would be pulling a permit, using our licensed subcontractors for the plumbing, electrical and hvac. We would have to demo everything down to the framing, installing new insulation with vapor barrier, installing a new window with new exterior casing (interior casing will be tile), installing new drywall, bringing the electrical up to code by installing a new GFCI cicuit, gfi outlet over sink, new vent fan on a new switch, installing a light over the vanity, installing new shower controls, pedestal sink, faucet, toilet, custom sloped tile pan system, tiled shower base , tile shower walls to the ceiling, tile baseboard, reinstall existing door and casing, and painting the walls, ceiling, door, casing and exterior casing with 2 coats of Sherwin Williams paint. This estimate includes all labor and materials. We have done numerous bathrooms for previous clients in this similar price point and scenario. I believe there was some misunderstanding involved here that I'd like to clarify. In their comments they had said we “charge $150 to screw on a toilet” and what the estimate said was “Install toilet with $150 allowance” which meant the cost used in the estimate for the toilet fixture was $150. We use a common allowance based estimate system when our clients have not made up their minds on what materials they want to go with so if they choose a toilet that cost $175 we would charge them the difference of $25 and if they choose a toilet that was $125 they would receive a credit of $25. For the comment of charging $1,400 to paint a bathroom that was actually the labor and materials to supply and install the drywall on the walls and ceiling and finish smooth and ready to paint and paint the walls, ceiling, door, casing and exterior casing with 2 coats of Sherwin Williams paint. I wish we had the opportunity to explain this if there was a misunderstanding. It is unfortunate that this was posted on AL before any communication with us about these concerns....but we hope our future clients will read this and understand our process."

I called to schedule an estimate for some upgrading and remodeling I wanted done on the second floor of my home. They were booked out several weeks, but that was ok. Chad came out, and we talked through what I was interested in doing at my home. He seemed very knowledgeable and offered me different options for various different fixes. I actually liked him a lot and felt that he shared a very similar vision to my own for how I wanted the work to turn out. He told me he would email me an estimate within a couple of weeks. Unfortunately we are now a month out and still no estimate. They made it out to look at my home, but unfortunately they did not deliver on the estimate. It doesn't leave me with much faith in the company.

We have used Platinum in the past for small jobs and came back to them with a kitchen and living room remodel job which started April 2013. Josh (owner) and Kara Codington (designer) came out for the initial walkthrough and to hear our ideas. Both were open to our ideas and hit on several things we hadn't thought about. After measurements and photos, Kara emailed a design and we talked at length over the phone and via email about ideas. The design was concise and very little we had to tweak. Everything we had talked about was in the design, as well as a few options. Throughout the planning process, Kara was patient and met with me several times at showrooms as well as in our home. I explained I needed choices narrowed down and she came to me each time with 2 or 3 that were perfect. We didn't want to waste her time or my money. We joke that our house is the house that Kara built because she made such excellent choices and steered us to a grand finish. We had worked with a previous designer and left her prior to coming to Platinum, simply because that person wouldn't listen to the client. Not a problem with Kara or Josh. Kara kept us on track with schedule and when to pick certain components of the remodel. I was set on white subway tile for the backsplash - SET ON IT, there was no changing my mind. Kara brought out that example and a beautiful alternate of a greenish glass. I promptly forgot about the white subway tile and have never looked back. Kara made sure we discussed price on each of the options we were looking at and what would ultimately look the best in the space. We splurged on a custom light fixture which Kara picked out and it was again, nothing I would have picked on my own but it is beautiful and finishes the dining room perfectly. She even sold me on a lazy susan, which I usually hate. Once she showed me the features of that lazy susan I was sold. Remodeling is quite stressful, especially when you are living in the construction zone for 2 1/2 months. Josh and Kara both checked in frequently to ensure the construction was going as planned. We had an area that we were sure was going to be additional expense due to venting and when there were choices to be made, Josh sat down with the costs and advantages to each before we moved forward. Platinum's crew was respectful during the construction. Our son was 2 1/2 during construction and as a mom, I was pleased they all made sure obstacles were picked up as much as possible and it was safe for us to move around. Everyone always seemed like they were happy to be there and did a great job. Even during the two days of tile removal, the crew busted through so they could keep moving. Four of the Platinum guys carried our brand new Viking fridge into the house when the electrician refused to have his crew do it because our deck wasn't finished. Great group of guys. After we were done with the inside, Josh drew up a plan for the deck outside and put us in touch with a landscaper (great referral) and we finished that project August 2013. We love the Trex deck and the grill jut-out Josh designed. We knew we would receive great quality working with Josh. Kara was a pleasant surprise. To be able to have someone take your phone calls and reassure you that your color choices will be ok, even if it's Sunday night, is refreshing. When we are ready to attack the laundry room and master bathroom, we look forward to working with a great team.

They forgot to compensate for the fact that there are two steps up from the basement to the garage floor. Therefore, initial door had the handle correct if you went from the basement to the garage, but the handle was below my knees (rather awkward...and I'm only 5'9") when entering the house from the garage. At first they told me I would have to "live with it". Next they offered to modify the door and move the lockset, which would unfortunately nullify the fire rating. Why pay all that money for a compromised door? After many emails they finally ordered a new door with the lockset (door knob and deadbolt) custom set to the dimensions of the original door and installed it. The next door was not set in square. They sent another person in who squared it, but never finished insulating (foam) the door frame because he ran out. But the door fits nice and works well. On the positive side the representative for Platinum was polite. He did not shout, threaten (I was withholding payment), or blame. In the end he admitted he forgot to compensate for the stairs. I appreciated his honesty. I only wished I didn't have to push, I would have liked it if their final solution was their first response to the botched first attempt.

Yeah that could certainly have gone smoother. In the end it was our fault for not ordering the door blank and drilling the lockset and deadbolt bores ourselves on site...kind of a weird situation that got miscommunicated between us and the lumberyard were we ordered the door from. Sorry for dropping the ball on this one and taking 2 trips to get that corrected, glad it all worked out in the end.

Our first meeting was excellent. I think it was with a guy named Chad who just talked about how Platinum works and he recommended a designer to help. We were leaning in to that idea. We then met with the designer and it was an hour meeting. Looking back and now learning about the experience, my feedback for Platinum when someone is telling you about a bug project like this that you probably could tell a new time client that an hour simply isn't enough time after hearing what we wanted to do. The poor quality of rushing this meeting and then getting a very poor quality initial design simply showed that lack of communication was present. When we got the first design we were surprised that by how little of our input was even incorporated. The designs were sent simply via email. No sit down meeting with an explanation. We had even talked about in our first short meeting talking about seeing 3 different types of design levels from a bronze, silver and then a gold level. We got 1 design and it didn't even incorporate the 3 season porch. There was even an error in measuring the angle of one of our walls. We simply don't feel like the designer was listening, nor did they take the time to listen. This is the first time we have done something this major and feel the quality of work was an "F". We understand that a first design is never a finished product and is a place to build from, but we simply did not trust that sufficient work had been done. We paid them for the design and stopped our relationship. I am surprised there was no follow up for feedback from us. Now after hiring our new designer, there is simply no comparison in our experience. One example, is our new designer when giving us our initial designs came and sat down at our table. She explained what and why she tried different designs and what the issue were to our unique space. Our current designer understands that our remodel isn't just hiring a handy man to install new counters and change the fixtures. Our remodel was going to be significant investment of several rooms that would change 1/2 our house. As a company, I suggest that Platinum recognize the difference and not rush the experience. Spend time listening to your client and I would even suggest that after your initial meeting before you start 1 design you send an email stating what you feel like you heard from your client. So you don't start a design on the entirely wrong perspective as was our experience. We are one experience and know that Platinum has done great work with people we know.

Thank you for your feedback on the whole experience working through the design process with us. While obviously this is not what we are trying to accomplish or hear back from a potential client, it is helpful to hear and will certainly alter the way we do business in the future. Over the past year, since you met with us, we have continued to tweak the way we do things. This will be addressed in our weekly meeting on Friday to make sure no one else has the same experience as you guys did. Sorry for the stress and wasted time. If you would like a refund on your design fees or have any additional feedback you wish to share, please email me josh@platinumremodeling.com. Thank you

Job was to sheetrock and tape the unfinished walls in my garage. The project was completed as discussed. The only miscommunication was regarding the cleanup of the extra building materials, but a quick phone call cleared up the confusion. I think the price was fair, but other contractors wouldn't even return my request for a quote.

Thanks for the review! We find the "no call back season" to be mid summer in most cases, when contractors get swamped and don't bother to take the 30-45 min a day to return calls from potential customers. Weird that you experienced that in the middle of winter...worked out well for us though! Thanks for your business.

We are into real estate business so we tend to refer them a lot to others. It has been a very positive experience and they do a great job. It is a family owned business. They are very trustworthy people when they are in my house and I wouldn’t hesitate to leave money around. They are comfortable people to be with and they stand behind their work and if something doesn’t work, they come back and make it right. They are a growing company. When we first used them, they were a small group of 3 to 4 and now they have about 12 to 14 people working. They do remodeling work and we have used them for some remodeling projects around our home for replacement of doors and other things. They are working on a huge addition right now because I just talked with one of them the other day. We recommend them to our clients if they are looking for bids. They are nice people to work with.

Thanks for the review [member name removed]! Let me know if you ever need help on another one of your projects. FYI, my sister Anna, now runs our small project/handyman division, her email is Anna@platinumremodeling.com and you can just contact her directly to get one of the techs sent out if it is for something small. Thanks!

It went really well. The craftsmanship and attention to detail was great. The only thing I wasn't completely satisfied with was the communication and the estimating process. We had changed a few deliverables as the job progressed but didn't receive an updated estimate. Platinum was quick to work with us on resolving our frustration and, in the end, we were happy.

Thanks for the feedback on this one. For a site unseen estimate we should really give a range rather than an exact number, or revised that number after the craftsman had a chance to review things on-site...that probably would have avoided any issues. Glad you guys were happy in the end and liked working with our finish carpenter, Marty!

First of all, I would like to say it pains me to give a grade of "C", as I worked with Platinum on a partial kitchen remodel in 2010, and couldn't be happier with the job they did. The market has changed since then though, and it seems that remodelers are inundated with business. I called Platinum for an estimate on a partial bath remodel. After looking things over and discussing options with us, the estimator said he would get back to me in a week. I waited that week, and one more, since the other contractor I had called could not schedule an estimate before then. After the two weeks, I emailed the estimator to ask when we might receive his quote. I believe I had to follow up with yet another email before I received a reply that the estimate would be forthcoming, which it was, but by that time I had already decided to go with another contractor. I was very disappointed that I did not receive prompt service this time from Platinum. Their estimate was more than fair, but I would much rather know in advance how long the estimate would take.

Wow, dropped the ball on this one. We thought we had devised a way to shut-off new estimate requests when we got too busy to handle them and then scaled back the amount of estimates to be able to have a faster response time...apparently it needs some tweaking to make sure this situation doesn't happen again. Sorry to have let you down and wasted your time.
