+ 1 moreWe had our house inspected in preparation for selling. Apparently when they put the carpet in the installers pushed the drywall in the corner too far and it separated from the woodwork. Mr. Handyman went under the stairs and pushed the drywall back in place and mudded, taped, sanded and painted the corner. It looks like new. Replaced the woodwork and it is perfect. Our handrail on the back outside stairs was rotted out so my husband went and purchased a new one. Mr. Handyman replaced the handrail, stained it and it looks great. The same handyman is now doing work in the men's restroom at our church, which my husband pastors. They are on our list of permanentsl. Thanks so much.
Description of Work: Repaired the drywall in a corner in our lower level and reinstalled the woodwork. Replaced the handrail on the steps leading from the porch to the ground. Stained the handrail and some other places in our home.

+ 3 moreIt was an awesome experience. His name was Danny Blechman. Everything was done perfectly. It was one of the best things that I have ever done. He also gave us advice on some future products that was to redo our bathroom. He gave advice on that.
Description of Work: He was here for a whole day. We had 13 jobs on a list. He did multiple fix it task on our house including fixing a railing, fixing our shower fixing a piece of furniture fixing bedroom fans, bathroom fans and a door frame.

+ -1 moreI liked the professionalism of the handyman who came. I thought he did a pretty good job at the time. What I was not happy about was that it was only six months later and then the closet door was out again. It didn't stay for long. The wood floor that they tapped in is also out. That stayed for 8 months.
Description of Work: They fixed a couple of things. A closet door was off and they put it back in. I have wood floors. One of those blocks were loose and they tapped it in place. They did one other thing.

+ 0 moreIt was much more expensive than I expected. I think they did a good job but I think I could have had the same job done by somebody else for less. They bill by the number of hours. Some of their statements as far as the cost I do not believe were correct. They told me they would be billing me for their cost. They replaced a part in my garage door opener. It failed in three months. i replaced it myself and paid half the cost for the part. The amount I spent at the end was the original amount but minus $1200 worth of work. I expected $1200 worth more done. They said when they are bidding it that they cannot see all the details upfront. I believe another company that would have given me the estimate I would have paid no more then 10% more than the estimate. The work was good but I paid to much for it. The worker was wonderful and explained a lot of the things. I would use him again in the future.

+ -1 moreDishwasher, kitchen sink and other work recently done by Mr. Handyman - Southwest. Phone calls were always responded to in very timely manner. They have always been very punctual and professional. There were missing parts, but this was corrected. Concerning dishwasher, they had to adapt to fit it in and secure it better, and came out to do this right away. I appreciate this and their taking time to explain and answer all my questions..

+ -1 moreMr. Handyman is very punctual, just as they were when they installed a window a month or so ago. They do a good job, working quickly. Everything seems to be working OK. There is a missing sink strainer, that I will check on. Mr. Handyman did work here many years ago, and that is why I called them for the window installed over a month ago, and today for the dishwasher and sink install. It is nice if repeat business is given a discount, because I have other work to be done.

+ -1 moreA few handyman places were called or e-mailed. Mr. Handyman got back to me right away. They could come out quite soon, so after OKing the charge and because several years ago we had Mr. Handyman do work, we went with them. They are very punctual and after measuring window, they were to call to give me a quote. They double checked the dimensions of this window, with 2 glass panes in it and 2 screens, and brought window out when it arrived, several weeks later. There was no screen or cover for the handle, however. The manufacturer didn't send. The window was installed very good, and looks great. A month later the manufacturer has sent me only 1 screen, when there are 2 openings and I'm waiting on the other screen, so I can then install. The screens and cover for window handle, has been an inconvenience, although I think Mr. Handyman did a good job on window

+ -1 moreSo, I called him back and finally after 3 days and over 8 calls to him I finally had a chance to talk to him. He was argumentative, defensive, and came out and told me that for the painting, I should call a painting contractor. I asked him if they didn't do painting which he said they did but for some reason, didn't want the job. Then he started talking about the job that I had already scheduled with Trish from the other office. He said that no one would be coming to do the work. He said that Trish's office couldn't work in his area. I told him that I already got a quote from Trish, set date and times, & confirmed the work to be done. He said that he didn't want me to be "sorely disappointed when no one showed up". I said it was between him & Trish to decide how to staff the job. He continued arguing. Finally he said he didn't want the job and hung up on me. I was shocked and amazed. He was so unprofessional. I won't ever call his office to do work for me again.
Description of Work: My problem was not with work being done or even an estimate. I never got to that point. I called this office 6 times, left 3 messages, waited on hold to talk to someone and eventually ended up calling a different office (there are several offices in the Twin Cities). When I called the other office I got a person the first time, she was courteous, professional, and really bent over backwards to help me and schedule a person to come to my new home for a minor job. I also wanted a quote for painting so she said that she would have the owner of the initial office contact me to set up time for an estimate and to schedule the work. The owner, Steve Gilfix, called me at my home and left a message, I guess he couldn't wait for me to call him back so he called me again on my cell phone. I couldn't speak to him at that time and asked if I could call him back. He had the nerve to ask me if I was at the drive-thru! Anyhow when I called him back he asked me to call 10 minutes later!
