+ -1 moreHe was able to get the cable back on and made some adjustments to hopefully stop it from happening again. The garage door was installed by the previous owner and every shortcut that could have been taken was. What I liked about the repairman is that he didn't insist that I needed a new system installed right away. He did point out that I may need a new door soon because it was not opening smoothly (which indicates there is probably a dent or crack in the door).
Description of Work: I thought the cable broke, however the cable had just jumped the drum.

+ -1 moreI left a message online last night. This morning I got a call shortly after 8:00. They could come out this morning....and did! Good punctuality! Guy was professional, (Kevin). I asked for an estimate in advance. He said between $100 and $119, which was good, because Angie's list offers a $99 coupon for similar service. He saw the problem, and fixed it! Then lubricated all the "joints". Final cost? $113. I am so pleased! The other company I contacted, the provider said, "Well, we're not the cheapest, but we warranty our work. Might be up to $500. We are Reliable." He would not even guess that it might go as low as $99. I cancelled them. (They were scheduled to come at 10:00 a.m.) Thanks, Metro!!!! Happy Customer

The service person backed down our driveway and hit the house with something that was on top of his vehicle. We called them right away. They said they would pay for the repair, but they have yet to do that.

The situation did get handled, although it was a hassle with the bill. I waited all day the day of my first appointment, and they were unable to do the work. 5 days later they did eventually come to do the work. The work was done well, and the technician was prompt for his appointment.
Description of Work: I purchased a Big Deal from this service provider for Spring Replacement on a Double Garage Door Spring.

+ -1 moreRandy came out the day after I called (I had indicated it wasn't urgent) and repaired the bottom molding on a double garage door which had come partially loose after being frozen to the ground. He suggested a way to insert extra screws to save money compared to replacing the retainer, and was done very quickly. Randy's been out several times, including when we needed to buy new doors, and is always fast and friendly and suggests various ways to accomplish what we need.
Description of Work: Repaired the bottom door retainer which had fallen victim to our recent rain-and-then-freeze event.

+ -1 moreReplacement seemed fine but about 90 days later the cable lost tension and the door does not work. When I called back I told that they only warrantee their work for 30 days. Needless to say I am not interested with in spending any more money with a firm that does not not truly stand behind their work.
Description of Work: In September of 2016 I hired Metro to come out and replace my garage door key pad. While here they suggested that I also have the cables on my door replaced. I do admit that they showed some rust and were probably ready to be changed. I agreed to have the work done to save a seperate service call fee.

Description of Work: Had a garage door opener that was not working...Jesse came out and checked the opener as well as the door and diagnosed the door had shifted. The door was fixed and the opener checked for issues. Jesse is a good "teacher"...took his time to explain how the door and opener works! Will recommend highly!!!!

We did a online service request and received a prompt call from Metro Garage. We scheduled an appointment and the technician arrived promptly. Work was completed to our satisfaction. Technician also identified some other maintenance issues with our garage door system and suggested what they had available when/if we needed additional services done.

+ 0 moreI ended up making the necessary repair myself, which I should have done in the first place. All that was needed was a motor starting capacitor which I found on Amazon.com for $12. My door is once again operational. I was disappointed enough with the Metro Garage Door Co to add them to my “Do Not Contact” list for future garage door issues. Be sure to get costs up front before scheduling any service from this company, or any company. Lesson learned.
Description of Work: I was having intermittent problems with my garage door opener and so I checked out Angie's list looking for someone with a good rating who could give me an idea of where my problem is and an estimate for a resolution. Metro Garage Door Co had an "A" rating, been on the list for 16 years with many positive reviews, so I requested what I thought was a free review for my problem. There was NO mention of any cost when setting up the visit. Steve came out later that day and took one look at my garage door opener and informed me he could not work on it due to age and compliancy issue with code. Then he told me that would be $72 for the service call (thanks for nothing). He also told me I could purchase a new opener, installed, for $400+. Had I seen the service charge or been informed up front, I would not have requested the visit.

+ -1 moreService person showed up and charged $72: $25 for 1/4 hour of consultation and $47 trip charge. No work was done. On the phone, cable repair was estimated at $136. Trip charge was not mentioned. He went over a special being offered, and how all of the things that need repair would be about $350. Since it was twice the expected amount, I needed to discuss that amount of repair with my husband, but he wasn't available immeditately. I don't have a good impression of this company now and won't hire them in the future.
