Ice Dam Guys

I contacted three ice dam removal companies yesterday due to a leak in the kitchen, all of whom had full voicemail boxes. Ice Dam Removal Guys called within the hour (the first to respond), explained their rates and told me when they could come out. Though the 12-6 pm window was a bit annoying, it was understandable due to the amount of calls/appointments they had no doubt received. Patrick called before coming over and after assessing the situation, gave us some options as we needed to leave at a certain time. He got to work right away and we were very happy with what he was able to accomplish the time we agreed upon. Though I hope not to need their services in the future, I would not hesitate to use them again. I'm only kicking myself for not knowing about the Angie's List discount I've read about in the reviews this morning. :)

Must be due to demand, but was so disappointed to get a much higher quote. $475 per hour, with a two hour minimum, that's $950, no matter what the size of your job is. Forced to look elsewhere... :(

Tom came early and assessed the situation. It was serious. He was fast and clean and managed all of the details to create a clear roof of snow and ice dams. It took a long time, but it was worth every penny. I would highly recommend Tom!

This is an excellent company. We developed an ice dam with leak into our bedroom and needed same day service. Jay answered the phone at 7:15 AM and sent Corey out to fight traffic in a snow storm. He got here at 10 AM (GREAT response time), would have been earlier if not for snow storm. Corey is an excellent technician and service provider. He called from the road to give an update on his progress through the rough traffic and again when he arrived here. He is warm, friendly, and reassuring. He moves fast and works very hard. Ice dam was way up on roof of 2 1/2 story house--peaked roof, 32 foot ladder required. He had to borrow our ladder as he carried only a 28 footer. This was something I expected with our old, tall house. Removed the dam and communicated well throughout. Took photos with camera to explain where exactly the dam and water build-up were. They charged $375 per hour and honored an Angie's List coupon for $75 off. The total I listed above is after the coupon. It took 2.5 hours of constant work for Corey to remove one dam. He did not pad the time at all; indeed he was generous. Nice job!

Never had a severe ice dam problem ? until this winter? Called The Ice Dam Removal Guys. Jay was very polite, professional ? and understanding. They even had a same-day opening for me! Mike came over to do the job. He spent 4 ½ hrs. (working hard!!) and cleared all the gutters and the ice that had ?grown? over them onto the shingles. He also shoveled a good two-foot of snow off of the 3-season porch. Mike never gave a sales pitch and showed me what he did to make sure I was happy with the job. The company even gave me a discount ? which I was not expecting when I was searching for someone to do the job! I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND this business!

I had a leak from ice dams on an upstairs window and wanted to get this taken care of quickly. I called Ice Dam Guys, and they were able to come that afternoon. I was quoted a rate of $375 for 1 hour, with a minimum of 2 hours. Although I thought that was a very high price, I was somewhat desperate to get this taken care of, and they were available. The technician arrived on time and started shoveling. Then he started the steaming. He told me that it would probably cost $2000 to remove all the ice dams. I told him I couldn't afford that much, so he said he would take what he could in 2 1/2 hours. I was left with the worst problem gone, and a huge pile of snow in my driveway. The technician offered to shovel it for $375/hours which I thought was ridiculous. Since the entire roof wasn't taken care of, and my neighbor found someone a couple of days later, I finished up the job with her guy. Two technicians came and charged $150/hour (inclusive). They also removed the snow. I would not recommend this company based on the very high hourly rate that included one technician when there are other qualified companies in the area that are doing twice as much for less than half the amount they charged.

Minimum $750.00 to arrive. What are they neuro surgeons doing this part time..????

Really well. Emailed the company 7 pm Sunday night. Had a call about 90 min later to talk about my needs. I knew for sure I wanted snow removed, once that was done then I needed evaluation of ice on roof. Jay scheduled me for 9 am the next day. Garrett showed up at 9, we talked about what I needed & confirmed the snow removal rate (175/hr) and the min charge of 2 hours. He started first with a walk around the house to get an evaluation and then started on the snow removal. He knocked on the door a short while later and informed me that the ice was stretching 2-3 ft up the roof in front so he couldn't climb up there but instead would have to use a roof rake. Then he would recommend steaming off the ice. He quoted me the estimated time to remove all the ice (3-4 hours) and the price for that service (375/hr) and asked what I wanted to do. I wasn't prepared to spend that much so I asked what we could do for $1000. I also said that I would move the snow that had come off the roof, so he could use his time to do the hard stuff - up on the roof. He had no issues with this. He finished removing the snow and then prepped for steaming the ice dam. When I turned the water back onto the hose bib nothing flowed. Luckily he had a heat gun in the truck and a few minutes later we had water. Since I didn't have enough budget to remove all the ice, we talked about what he would do. Take down the largest, deepest section and then cut some paths thru the rest so when the melt happens the water can flow down. He was able to get that done, and knocked down the ice that was stretching up the roof for right about my budget limit. When we netted out the coupon on Angies list, we came in at 955. (Jay was even kind enough to let me know the night before that they had a coupon on the site.) Before he left, Garrett threw down some salt to help with the slipperiness left behind. Overall, very pleased and would hire again. This is my first time having ice dams removed and I saw a couple of other companies on the List that looked like they might have been less expensive (why I graded B) but their BBB rating and other great reviews made them the first (and) only company I contacted. All of this on one of our fun winter days that started dbl digits below zero and made it up to about 3 degrees by the time he was done.

The only recommendation I would have is that the ad identify there is a two hour minimum charge and their rate is $400 per hour.

We knew we had a problem and we knew, we knew we needed help soon, and we knew we had a budget. The Ice Dam Removal Guys answer their phone until 11:00pm. This allowed me to call when I wasn't at work and have a thorough conversation. They explained their services and pricing. They answered my question but never over promised. The arranged to be here within 36 hours. When the tech arrived he arrived on time and was working right away. I explained our budget issue and he reassured us that he could work with our parameters. Over the course of the time he was here he worked thoroughly and efficiently. I hope you don't get ice dams but if you do this firm was great to work with!

Great....Called on Monday & scheduled on Wed.for 8:00am.Lance arrived on time and told me exactly what he was going to do and how long it would take. He was very nice and did a wonderful job in freezing cold temps! Salted sidewalk after and was right on schedule of what he said it would be. I would highly recommend them.

Deep snow on our roof covered vents that shut down our furnace so we were highly motivated to get it cleared away. Found Ice Dam Removal Guys on Angie's List, along with a service discount coupon. Called and spoke to "Katie" (very nice!) Understandably, they were fully scheduled that day, but she scheduled service for us the following day. Our service tech arrived a bit later then expected because an earlier project ran longer than expected. Again, we found this fully acceptable due to the heavy snowfall in the Twin Cities, and sudden increased workload and time demands on their crew. Once our tech arrived, he got to work immediately. He worked very hard, completed the job in a timely way and his work was excellent. We are very pleased, would highly recommend them, and would use them again.

Mark did an excellent job. We called in the afternoon, and he was here in less than two hours. He cleared the snow and then the ice sheet beneath. After the roof was done, he put salt on our driveway to make sure no one slipped. Mark was courteous and professional. Highly recommend the Ice Dam Removal Guys!

I saw a coupon for $50.00 so I purchased it, however when Jay called, he said it was $375.00/hour with a two hour minimum. I should have read the coupon better, but when I learned $750.00 minimum I told him I wasn't interested and that I'd ask Angie's List for the reimbursement.

Randy did our roof. He was great?we had several ice dams built up around the perimeter of our large roof and he worked tirelessly for 7 1/2 hours to remove them.

I was very happy with the service. The roof was shoveled the same day I called, which I appreciated. Mark was the name of the gentleman who did the work. He was very courteous and professional. He did not try to sell me services I didn't need--I had a little bit of ice on my roof, and I wasn't sure if it needed to be removed. He said the roof looked good and that the attic was insulated very well. He applied some salt to the ice patches rather than pushing ice dam removal services. I would hire this company again.

I can't speak to the actual service of ice dam removal that this company provides, because my husband and I ended up deciding to hold off on the minor ice dam removal needs we had, but I was extremely impressed with the professionalism and knowledge that was provided by Jay on the phone. He was very understanding when I told him we wouldn't be moving forward with the service and he was so kind to educate me on what to look for with the ice dams, so that I could watch out for any signs of emergency removal situations. He was not pushy in anyway, just very helpful. I had purchased an Angie's list deal, which was quickly refunded after realizing we wouldn't be needing the service. And Joe, the president of the company, got in touch with me a couple days later to confirm that I had recieved the service I was looking for. Really friendly and professional guy as well. We will definitely call Ice Dam Removal Guys for any needs that come up in the future. Great experience!

I was really pleased with the work Mark did today. It seemed a little pricey, but that being said it was a last minute decision on my part and I really just wanted the work done before the freezing temperatures return. My neighbors happened to have a sign out front for the Ice Dam Removal Guys, and I went with it. I was so happy to hear that they could come out same day to do the work (and even on a Saturday, which is a big perk for me being a full time working mom). Mark was here within an hour of my phone call. He explained everything he was going to do before even starting. He stopped mid way to let me know what he found, and in an area where he felt the damming wasn't an issue he didn't push to spend the extra time (which means extra cash) on clearing it. Him and he is trainee worked quickly and efficiently. He also gave me some tips on how to prevent this from happening again. If needed, I would definitely use the Ice Dam Removal Guys again. Thank you.

Showed up on time, within hours of receiving a call. Regretably, can remember name of the guy who did the work. I did post on their facebook page b/c the workers get a bonus if you like them and write a positive review. Growing up in a family where my dad ran a family business for 20 years, I understand how difficult it can be for small businesses. I really thought it was cool that if I liked their facebook page and endorsed the person doing work, that he would get a spot bonus. The whole ice dam thing was a nightmare, I moved here from California and didn't know about them - how they effect house, etc. The person who came out explained everthing as he went, answered my questions (ask my wife, I ask a lot of questions to the point of annoyance) - and was totally cool about it the whole time. I imagine with the window of opportunity for business and their overhead - these are reasonable prices though I have no basis of comparison from past experience. I felt the work was diligent, careful and comprehensive. Price was competitive to other quotes.

I called the day after noticing leakage in that garage knowing that it should get taken care of quickly before getting worse. I called two other companies before calling the Ice Dam Removal Guys - one company was 2 days out on calls and the other I had to leave a message for. Ice Dam Removal Guys came out the same afternoon. Mike and I chatted a bit about just seeing what he could get done within the 2 hour minimum, and focusing on the area where the leak was. He got to work quickly. After shoveling off a good portion of the snow, he gave me his assessment of the ice build-up, what he thought should be done, and how long over the 2 hours he thought he could get it done in. We agreed it best to remove all of the ice from the north side of the house as well as the east side of the garage, and the extra hour he said it would take him to do it. When he was finished, he cleared all the snow away from the front step and salted the entire area. After Mike left, I noticed the storm door handle was bent and called the office immediately. Mike came back within minutes and was very apologetic about the handle. He tried to straighten it out and it wouldn't budge. He took a picture of it and said he would talk to Joe about it, then call me. Mike said he would pay for a new handle (I ordered a replacement from Anderson) and come out to replace it. It took 2 weeks to get the new handle. Mike was true to his word and came back out to replace and pay for the handle. I appreciate Mike's courteousness and professionalism, and wish all service companies had employees like that when they come out to my home.

I thought the work was really good but they were quite expensive. The staff was good about cleaning up and explaining what they had to do. Afterwards the owner called to make sure I was satisfied with the work done.

Randy did a fantastic job working even after the sun went down - diligent, helpful, and dedicated. Randy was truly fantastic. I would highly recommend him and the Ice Dam Guys to anyone who needs ice dam removal.

We've used the Ice Dam Guys fro several winters and after using other services know that you are really the best. Always great to work with, let us know what the issue is (or isn't) and provides ideas for avoiding in the future, I love the fact you call ahead so I'm not waiting around and return my calls quickly always able to come out within a short time frame. Everyone I've worked with at Ice Dam Guys has been super pleasant friendly individual despite the cold weather and a touch job, always smiling. I would never call anyone else. The pricing was also very competitive and the value significantly more than some other companies I've used.

Tony did a great job today. He was quick and did a complete job. I had a different company cancel at almost the end of the day, so thank you for making me feel like my home was a priority. You saved me!
