Best home repair experience in a long, long time or maybe ever.
Description of Work: A screw dropped into the garbage disposal and it seized up and stopped. I called these folks and they sent someone out the next day (they offered same day but I couldn't fit it in). I was afraid I would need a new disposal. The fellow arrived promptly and went right to work, said quickly that I wouldn't need a new disposal, cleared the old one out, sealed it and tested it several times. I then asked him to check out a squeaking noise in my washer (something I had also asked the dispatcher about when I called the day before) and he checked it out quickly and thoroughly. While he had the panel off the washer I saw major dust and lint and went to get the vacuum cleaner which turned out to have poor suction and making a funny noise. Although not his area, he helped me clear a blockage in the vacuum line and it is now working perfectly. His bill exactly matched the pricing their dispatcher gave me the day before. So, I got three problems solved in a little over an hour! It was great! I am pleased to be able to give an excellent rating to a company that is so professional and fair and will make them my regular appliance repair company.

I came home to a small lake in my kitchen...the refrigerator was no longer working and many of my freezer items had melted. I researched companies on Angie's List and started calling the next morning. Direct Home Appliance Service was the first one where I reached a live person and they were able to schedule someone to come out that afternoon. I appreciated that the appointment "window" was two hours rather than all afternoon like some companies do. Dave arrived within the specified timeframe and was very friendly. He got to work right away and was able to work in a very tight spot; the location of my refrigerator doesn't allow much room to work. Dave quickly diagnosed the problem (bad start/run relay) and he was able to replace it with one from his truck. Once the part was installed, the compressor started up and right away the freezer section started to get cooler. I was relieved that it wasn't a bad compressor. Dave did advise that if the new relay failed, it was because the compressor is going bad. He also let me know that at that point he would advise purchase of a new refrigerator rather than spending money on such an expensive repair. I had a coupon from their website that Dave honored without question.Overall I was extremely satisfied with the service and price.
Description of Work: Replaced start/run relay on KitchenAid refrigerator.

He knew right away what to do, and he was able to locate the problem in 5 minutes. He asked for some ice to chop (glad I had a little left after this heatwave!) and immediately the sound of the disposal was quiet as normal. He indicated we had a good disposal and he quickly wrote up the invoice, gave me a magnet, and we were both onto other parts of our days.
Description of Work: Garbage disposal was working, but was loud and sounded different than usual and we were concerned there was something foreign lodged within. Dave came out to take a look at the disposal, and within 5 minutes he found the lodged piece of plastic that was causing the issue.

They were very responsive in arranging for the service call, and the repairman arrived at the scheduled time. He was extremely personable, and found the problem, which turned out to be an icemaker that wasn't in use but was turned on. He offered to remove the ice maker if I wasn't going to use it, since I would be paying for the service call regardless, and it would give me more space in the freezer. I found him to be very competent and helpful. I would definitely use the company again.
Description of Work: My refrigerator was making loud clunking noises. The repairman checked it thoroughly, and the only thing he could find was that the icemaker, which wasn't hooked up, was turned on. He asked me if I wanted it removed, since I said I wasn't using it, He did that, and left it with me in case I would ever want to use it. It has not made any noises since his visit.

Excellent as always. This is the only company I'll ever use for appliance repair.
Description of Work: Jon is the owner of this company and he is the guy that actually comes out and does the work. He's awesome. I've used him a few different times to repair various appliances (dishwasher, stove, washer). He shows you exactly what needs to be fixed and doesn't charge you an arm and a leg to do it. He charges about half of what other companies charge!

Description of Work: Refrigerator - Whirlpool temperature control failed while we were on vacation. Called Direct Home and someone was sent out within a couple of hours. Mark diagnosed the problem in the first minute. He had one in inventory and was able to fix the problem while onsite. Very knowledgeable and great to work with. Thanks a bunch for getting our refrigerator back and running again.

I called the provider at about 10 AM. The person who answered the phone asked for a description of the problem. I described the refrigerator as a Kenmore bottom freezer type. I said that about a week ago the refrigerator quit cooling. Even though the freezer seemed to be working, no cold air was coming out of the vents in the top back part of the inside of the refrigerator. I said that I had thawed the refrigerator out about a week ago and it seemed to work for about a week until the same problem returned. The person on the phone asked whether I wanted the next available appointment time or the next day. I said that I wanted the next available time and she said that would be that evening between 5 and 7. She said told me who the technician would be that would be coming, but I do not remember his name. I asked whether I needed to empty the refrigerator and freezer out beforehand and she told me that it was not necessary. The technician arrived at 6:45. He asked me to relate the problem to him, which I did. He said that it sounded like a problem with the defrost system and that he would need to disassemble the freezer to the point of being able view the affected parts. He did this in about 10 minutes. He then pointed out the frost on the evaporator coil and said that this pointed to the defrost system as the problem but he would have to melt the frost and possibly take some readings to see which component was the problem. He took about fifteen minutes to melt the frost, asking for paper towels and then an old cloth towel to absorb the water. He showed me the bad part, told me it was a common problem, and that it was among the least expensive parts to replace. He replaced the part, and reassembled the freezer. He checked the underneath the refrigerator to see if it needed cleaning. (It didn?t; I had done that the week before.) He explained that there might be some water on the floor behind the refrigerator, but it would evaporate quickly. I paid with a check but he would have taken a credit card as an alternative.
Description of Work: Based on my description of the symptoms and recent history, the service technician diagnosed and repaired my approx. 7-year-old bottom-freezer type refrigerator. He replaced the temperature limiting thermostat for the coil defrosting system.

He arrived on time and quickly diagnosed the problem--he commented it was unusual for this part failure without additional complications. I found them capable, very reasonably priced and will definitely use them again.

My refrigerator is at least 15 years old. In dog years that's 105! This thing has never had a problem, and I mean NEVER. Go figure that within a two week period 2 different parts of the ice maker would fail. The first time it was the teeth that make ice cubes. The guy came out promptly, fixed it and the bill was a $90 part and about $90 for labor. Nice guy, we chatted about how the next fridge we buy will never be this reliable. A week later I noticed that my freezer had a ton of water in it. I had no idea what was wrong. I called them up at 5:30 pm on a Friday, frantic that the fridge would start floating soon. Where was the water coming from. The guy spent an hour with me on the phone telling me where to look on the fridge and how to shut off the water to the fridge. We made arrangements for him to come by on Saturday. The next day, he came out, replaced a valve on the back of my fridge, vacuumed baround the motor, helped replace the shutoff downstairs that seemed to be leaking. I thought "oh no, this is going to be a big bill." In the end, he only charged me for 1/2 hour repair and the cost of the valve. These guys rock!!

It was very satisfactory. The repair man who came was very efficient. He diagnosed the problem in just a few minutes and once the board was available, he replaced it in just a few minutes. The was only one hitch, namely, he was given the wrong circuit board by a supplier, and this resulted in an extra trip, for which we were not charged.

We called Direct Home Appliance after doing a lot of research online with Angie's List. Jon came the next morning and opened up the stove to reveal the problem. Incredibly, this 4-year old Maytag stove had a melted element. The element is within the stove and under an affixed plate so it wasn't something we'd be able to see. He said that he'd get an element and be back soon to replace it. This was done and my stove was working again. He was extremely professional in every way and very neat, also.
Description of Work: Diagnosed and fixed Maytag electric oven that wasn't heating properly. (The oven didn't reach 350 degrees after 45 minutes. In fact, it didn't reach 180 degrees and there were clicking sounds.)

I'm very pleased. The technician offered to come to my house in a couple of hours (I called in the morning), but arranged to come late afternoon so I wouldn't have to take more than a couple hours off from work. It was done quickly and professionally. I didn't call around about a price, because I didn't know how to diagnose the problem, but the price seemed reasonable.
Description of Work: My gas dryer (less than 5 years old) was not warming up. The technician came at a time convenient for me, and quickly diagnosed the problem as a bad coil. This must be a fairly commonly replaced item, as he had one in his truck. The part cost $40, plus $80 for labor/service call.
