Our experience with Mike and his team at First Choice Exteriors truly exceptional. It was pure happenstance that we discovered his team and we are glad that we did. Our home received hail damage on the roof and siding in the summer of 2015 and there was some interior water damage as well. Our insurance was quick to cover the damage to the siding, but refused to cover the damage to the roof and interior despite the fact that every single one of our neighbors had received compensation for the damage to their roofs. We had gone through two different contractors before stumbling on Mike and his team. The other two contractors tried methods that seemed a bit shady to try and convince our insurance to make payment and in the end, not only were we left feeling uneasy with their methods, they ended up being unsuccessful with making the claim for the roof and interior. We had given up hope and were ready to move on. Simply by coincidence, we met Mike and struck up a conversation about our situation over a year after the initial claim. He offered to come out and take a look to see if he thought there was a chance we could get coverage. We didn't feel like it was one of those high pressure storm chaser organizations and overall just got a really comfortable feeling so we agreed. Mike came out promptly and did an initial assessment and let us know that he thought we had a chance and that he would take care of all of the communications. The process was extremely simple for our family, although I had a feeling that Mike was doing a lot of work in the background. In the end, he found success and the insurance company agreed to fully cover the roof and interior damage! At that point, the planning and preparing started in earnest and we found the entire process enjoyable. Mike was there every step of the way. Along the way there were a few troublesome challenges encountered with the job simply due to the age of our house and some previous mistakes made by other contractors. Mike and his team were extremely flexible and overcame these challenges without a missed step. Along the way, Mike helped to identify money saving options for us and simply allowed us options that best met our needs. The work was completely in a timely manner and now we have a beautiful new roof! One last highlight of the experience was the clean up. The last contract work we had done, we found literally hundreds of nails left behind. This time around, the only nails we found in the yard after Mike's team was done was rusty nails left behind from the other contractor that we simply hadn't spotted yet. Amazing! We are very glad that our paths crossed and happy with the work that was done.

Between the sales staff & support, the owner of First Choice Exterior has this down to a science. Their knowledge construction and Mike McCain's ability to work with insurance claims was phenomenal. Communication is just as important and Dave Mack ability to keep everyone on the same page throughout the process couldn't have been better. A+ job all the way around. Leaving a new roof & new siding and a clean yard. Thanks, guys!

First class operation. Mike came to my home and felt that he wasn't there to sell me product but actually cared and listened to my concerns and answered all of my questions. He explained what they do and how it would be done. Extremely thorough! The crew came and was all done in a day and cleanup (which was important to me because we have a dog) was excellent!

I called 3 companies to get an estimate for my roof. Two of the companies put the full court press trying to upsell my on my siding (great shape just needs a paint job). I was very impressed with the quick response of Mike McCain and low pressure sale tactic. Mike bid and then finished the job on schedule and about 10-20% cheaper then the other 2 companies. My neighbor came over and is now going through the process with Mike. I'll get you updated on how his turns out. I'm sure it will be GREAT!

The overall service was amazing from the first call to the last email. The front guys did a great job of walking me through the insurance process. They meet with my insurance adjuster to work out the details, which was super helpful. The guys who did the work were very nice, thoughtful. They did a great job of being respectful to our property. They also did an amazing job of cleaning up. They finished in one day and left no trace of being here.

We had three companies come and take a look at our roof damage to let us know our options for repairs or replacement. Mike from First Choice was thorough, thoughtful and a strong advocate for us as he worked with our insurance company. First Choice replaced all shingles, vents and gutters beautifully. Dave was in charge of the installation crew and he stayed on site and kept us in the loop on every detail. My wife and I were so pleased that Mike and Dave were helpful and professional through every stage of this project. As veteran home owners, we have worked with contractors over the years on various projects. However, this is the first time that we felt that our contractor had our best interests in mind throughout the entire process. If we need work done in the future, we will call First Choice.

A++ for the entire job. Estimate and talking to my insurance company Mike McCain covered the entire job very very well. As a professional, Mike was able to get claims paid that I would not have reviewed for an insurance storm claim. The job was completed on time and the yard was totally cleaned up. The workers were respectful and vey good workers. Arriving early morning and completing the job in 1 day. Highly recommended. Many of my neighbors used them after I used them and all were happily satisfied!! .

Our house was extensively damaged in a hail storm and we are so happy that we decided to go with First Choice Exteriors for the repairs. I highly recommend working with this company. Mike McCain was the rep I worked with and he was super knowledgeable, friendly, and professional. He and his company was willing to go the extra mile, without any prompting. They were patient with us and helped us through the entire insurance process. Mike worked really well with our insurance company and fought for us to make sure our insurance will cover the necessary repairs. He really made the entire process smooth and worry free for us. The work itself was completed very timely and professionally. I'm very happy with the results. The areas that the house was worked on looks like new. The work crew and the site manager was very easy to work with as well and was very accommodating with our family's needs and schedules. The only thing I can't comment on is their pricing, which was really dictated between our insurance and First Choice Exteriors. If you think they are providing a competitive quote for your project, or if your project is going through insurance, strongly consider giving your business to this company because they will take care of you.

They were excellent. They helped us navigate the insurance process, made sure that our property was properly inspected and that our insurance claim was thorough. They did high quality work in a timely manner. I would recommend them to anyone.

The winter before First Choice worked on our house (built in 1964), we had quite a few leaks in the roof above our living room (classic Minnesota ice dams) and badly needed a major repair. My pots and pans were all being used to catch the leaks--making it hard to cook. Plus, we had chimney issues and a number of un-sighly pipes on our roof. Also, our home did not have gutters, so we had a moist, moldy basement with water starting to seep in through the walls. In short, the house needed a 50 year tune up. First Choice put on the gutters first--prior to the roof. They gave me extra wide downspouts and gutters that matched the color of our house perfectly. I can tell you the extra width really helps move the water off the roof and stays clear in the winter. The down spouts correctly directed the water away from the house and helped dry the the basement. The team showed up on time and got the job done under budget. I was exceedingly pleased with the work and thought it was a tremendous improvement. Our experience with the gutters/downspouts, was so positive that the next year we had First Choice install a new roof for us. A roof was a major investment for our family so I also obtained competing bids. First Choice was the top value for our dollar. We selected architectural grade GAF shingles with a 50 year guaranty. I fully recommend this product. The house looks so much better. First Choice finished the job in a day and a half, installing a whole house vent that ran the length of the house to get more fresh cold air into the attic. A generous layer of rubber was installed around to house to really get rid of the ice dams. In one spot above the garage, the plywood had rotted away, and the team replaced that wood. They also repaired the chimney issue that plagued our house and painted all the ugly pipes that were on the top of the house so now they blended into the roof. In addition, they replaced caps on one or two of the pipes that needed repair. I thought First Choice did such a great job that I passed their business representative's name, Mike McCain, on to one of the attorneys in my office. She also hired First Choice to repair her roof following a hail storm. Afterwards, once the attorney told me what a great job Mike and First Choice did on her roof, I decided that I really needed to get on Angie's list and shared my experiences with this contractor. Roofs and gutters are major investments. I can't tell you how pleased I am that I selected First Choice and Mike McCain. km .

We were highly impressed by the integrity that Mike showed, as well as the overall professionalism of FirstChoice. Most companies in this sector would be more than happy to sell product whether the consumer needed it or not. The fact that Mike was really looking out for our interests impressed us hugely.

We were anxious to get gutters installed on the back of our house after we had a moisture issue in the basement due in part to poor grading and lack of gutters. We got their bid quickly, they came in under other bids, and they were able work us in to their schedule. They were pleasant to communicate with, quick to respond, and did great work. We would definitely work with them again!

Very professional, roof and gutters look great. There is still more damage to fix but the roof and gutters are done. This group was from the Eden Prairie office.

UPDATED: First Choice's Mike came to our home on Sunday (5 days after email to website, 3 days after Angie's List review) to physically give us a proposal and tell us that the proposal had been mailed to our house, and that since they had mailed it and not heard back that we were not interested in pursuing our project with them. I told Mike I would update my review with First Choice's side of the story, and so here it is. ORIGINAL REVIEW: First Choice started off by being very responsive, offering to come to our home for a quote on new HardieBoard siding, new windows (over 20), and new exterior paint for an exterior home remodel. We booked for the next evening. The salesperson was over 1 hour late to the appointment, blaming traffic (it happens). We had a very nice visit, he measured everything, he listened to us and said he'd get us a quote by the end of the next week. He sent a thank you note out the next week to our house. It is now almost 3 weeks after that, and they have not provided a quote nor had any contact with us since the Thank You note. I even emailed the website 2 days ago asking if they were going to bother giving us a quote as a last chance to save face, but there was no response. It was a complete waste of our time to deal with this provider. It's so odd that they went through the work to send a handwritten thank you note, but then had zero follow up.

Mike was friendly, knowledgeable & professional. He helped navigate me through a challenging insurance company and got me an amazing outcome due to his hard work & persistence. I would recommend him to anyone!

A contractor called by my neighbor to look at his roof came over and suggested I had some hail damage and wanted to look at it. He did and then bugged me that I had signed a contract for him to do the work when I talked about getting other bids. I knew I was being hustled! First choice had done a very nice aluminum wrap on my window and door frames a year earlier and I called them for an estimate. It was an easy and pleasant conversation and they worked it out with my insurance company. The roof was a higher quality than what the original contractor had offered. They also installed a Leaf Proof gutter on the front of the house where there had been a constant problems with gutter blockage. One of the corner joints on the gutter leaked onto my deck the next summer and it was promptly sealed after a single phone call.

We needed new basement windows and the roof of our garage replaced. We got 2 estimates and Jeff Hubbard from First Choice Exteriors came in lower and was more knowledgeable and professional. He was able to match the shingles we have on our house for the garage and the garage looks great!. The new basement windows are sliders so we now have ventilation. They also look great! The work was done very quickly and we were kept updated on when the work would be done. They left no mess and we are extremely pleased.
