Response from A1 Radon Services LLC
Hello [Member Name Removed], I am sorry you had a bad experience with a radon mitigation company you hired, but you left a review for the wrong company. After looking through our files we have no record of ever installing a radon mitigation system for you. You must have confused us with someone else. Best regards, Andrew Costigan A1 Radon Services LLC

I phoned Andrew and he returned my phone call the next day. I told him I had purchased a test kit from the City of Mpls and the results were high. So I wanted a mitigation system installed in my rambler home. He made an appointment to come to the house and look at what I had. He arrived on time and was very professional and courteous. He gave us an installation date one month out and said he would arrive at 9:00 am. He arrived on time and installation was complete at 1:00 pm. He left without leaving a mess. The fan in the attic is very quiet. I can only hear it if the house is completely quiet. He explained how the system works and explained what to watch for symptoms of malfunction.

I have been concerned about radon for many years. My numbers were somewhat low about 5 years ago, below the 4.0pCi/L maximum the state considers "safe" levels. (Most now say under 2.7pCi/L). But, it still concerned me, and I wanted better results. When we had a room downstairs remodeled the numbers went up to 5.6pCi/L. Other places in the basement were 3.2pCi/L and 2.2pCi/L. So, I dragged my feet about it another couple of years just out of fear it couldn't be remedied. I called Andrew, made an appointment with him for two weeks out. He told me what he was going to do and he seemed very clear and knowledgeable to what it would take to get my numbers down to a safe level. I said several times that I wanted the numbers down below the guaranteed 2pCi/L and would consider more suction points and a stronger fan to get to that. I was hoping for under 1pCi/L. He was very understanding of my concern and very willing to work with me to achieve my goal. He was very punctual and the installation was a comprehensive sub-slab depressurization mitigation system and he was planning on having two suction points. The fan would be outside because there was no path for the piping to go through any part of the interior of the house. Turns out, he only needed the one main suction point. I asked for a strong fan that would get the numbers down as much as possible. What's under your house has alot to do with how successful the mitigation system is going to be. When he showed me that the dirt under my house looked really good for the mitigation I was very hopeful. He put the system in, had an electrician do the wiring, had an inspector come out to ok it. He had it billed so I just payed him for the whole job, everything included. He ran a machine in my house for about 5 days that read the radon levels in my house. Since it was a holiday weekend, I was fortunate enough to have it run for a much longer time than usual. I say lucky, because the results were amazing for the entire 5 day report. The average level was .1pCi/L. I have NEVER heard of such levels! Andrew said the level outside is around .4pCi/L! He said it was safer in my basement than outside! I could not be happier with how Andrew conducted the whole operation. His partner Rob, was wonderful too. They were professional, courteous, timely and just really nice guys. I could not have asked for nicer guys to work in my house. Having worried about this radon situation for so many years, and then to have such amazing readings, I just am so glad i had Andrew and Rob from A1 Radon Services, LLC do my mitigation. I highly recommend them. I was privately hoping for a level of.4pCi/L and when we got the results I was thrilled. One word of advice, DO NOT WAIT! Get your basement checked right away and have it done. Radon is very dangerous and my only regret is that I didn't have this done sooner. I cannot recommend this enough. And 4.0pCi/L is way too high! Get it down as low as you can. Radon is radiation. It's not worth the risk.

I was selling my home and needed to install a Radon mitigation system in a short window of time. Andrew was on time for both the appointment and installation. One of my concerns was I did not want a system that would run on the outside of the house. Andrew explained how he would install the system and that it could be installed on the inside of the house through the garage. During the installation additional materials were needed and I asked if there would be an additional charge. I was pleasantly surprised that Andrew honored his original estimate. The whole experience was great and I would hire Andrew again - The new homeowners were delighted to see how non-intrusive the system was installed. Over all a great experience and a very honest guy to work with!!

Prior to contacting A1 Radon, we had done three short term radon tests in two areas of our basement. All of the tests came back at over 7 pCi/L and two came back over 10 pCi/L. We contacted A1 Radon to discuss installing a radon mitigation system. The owner, Andrew, came to our house and did a walkthrough of the house. Based on his walkthrough, Andrew provided a two phase approach to installing a sub-slab depressurization system. Andrew's cost was competitive with the other two bids we received and he provided a comprehensive proposal. During the first phase Andrew drilled one hole, installing a suction point in the laundry room and extending it through the first floor into the attic. He also installed the fan and vented the system through the roof. After the installation, Andrew determined that phase two of the proposal needed to happen. He first installed a stronger fan in the attic and then installed a second suction point in a basement closet. He tied in the pipe from the second suction point to the first pipe in the laundry room in the basement so we would not have two pipes extending through the main floor of our home. He also worked with us to have the pipes routed in a way that fit our needs. When the job was completed, our radon results were at acceptable levels. Andrew is very easy to work with. He takes a conservative approach and is clear about what might need to be done to achieve the desired result. His previous work experience provides him with a strong understanding of home construction and layout. He is open to feedback, flexible with scheduling and conscientious about cleaning up his work space.
Description of Work: Two phase, sub-slab depressurization radon mitigation system consisting of two cores drilled in basement slab. Two vent pipes routed from basement through 1st floor closet to attic. An attached fan was installed in attic area with a vent pipe exiting out the roof.

Andrew is very professional. Answers e-mails promptly or calls with answers. Explained how everything worked and is so neat. I was worried about them drilling thru concrete and we had just painted the laundry room they were it. Everything was spotless when they were done. No Dust, dirt, etc.

They were punctual, professional and their price was really good. It was overall, an excellent experience. They were energetic, enthusiastic and extremely knowledgable. I believe they took all certified trainings on radon, as they were very educated. They gave my wife confidence that they knew they were going to be able to lower radon levels in the home.

Andrew from A1 Radon Services arrived promptly for our scheduled appointment. I already knew upfront the cost of the test, so the plan was to just go ahead with that. He was very informative about the process and also the importance of the test. After the testing time was complete, he came back out and went over the results. Luckily the levels in our home were low and don't have to install a mitigation system. For a fair price, Andrew definitely gave us piece of mind. This test should be performed in every home but especially in homes with young children. I would definitely recommend Andrew and A1 Radon Services to anyone looking for a quality test with a real pro.
