They were able to quickly get the installation done, including getting the electrical contractor there earlier than expected. They completed the job within about 4 hours. Before the installation, I was measuring radon levels around 10 pCi/L using the Safety Siren Pro electronic device I obtained on Amazon before the installation. Following the installation, the levels dropped to about 0.7 pCi/L. An "Air Chek" test is currently underway, begun 2 weeks after the mitigation. They, and every other mitigation company, were busy and the delay from scheduling to appointment was about 2 weeks.

Very informative with initial contact by phone. Arrived on time. Completed job in a timely manner (less than estimated). Left a clean and very unobtrusive installation. Original radon was 6.7 before mitigation -- after mitigation 1.0. Two thumbs up to Andrew and company -- would highly recommend. Give them a call!

Andrew and Rob were very punctual and installed the system in two hours. I had a previous system in place so Andrew gave me a discount on price as he used a currently installed part. I would have had no way of knowing that he could use previous parts so I appreciated his honesty.

Every part was excellent. After hearing a description of our home, he gave an accurate bid over the phone. All parts of the installation went smoothly and fairly fast. Everything was explained very well. Post test was immediate and levels were reduced from about 7 to 0.5. The system also works well as a dehumidifier.

I would highly recommend A1 Radon Services! They were a pleasure to work with - reliable, professional, and finished the job in a timely manner - even when a second pipe was required to bring the radon level down. I choose A1 because of their responsiveness and thoroughness answering my questions. Andrew and team are extremely knowledgeable!

I reviewed Angie's List write-ups and decided to call two companies and then a third company came recommended by someone else. From the start Andrew from A1 Radon Services was very easy to communicate with. I invited him out first and he gave me his easy-to-understand, "no nonsense approach" that made complete sense. On the day they arrived to do the install, Andrew and his partner Rob assessed the situation and they recommended installing the PVC pipe in an area of the basement that would be less noticeable and at the same time a very effective location for removing the radon gas. After they drilled the hole in the concrete slab and inserted the PVC tube, they were able to determine (from their diagnostic testing) that the system did not require any additional PVC piping throughout the basement. Believe me, if you can accomplish radon gas reduction to the level that you want with this simple and straightforward approach, why would anyone want more PVC tubing hanging in their basement anyway? Before having A1 Radon install our system, our radon level was 7.8. Afterwards, their testing equipment measured the average radon level at 1.2. For anyone interested in cost (and who isn't), their cost breakdown was $1,300 for the system, $285 for the electrician to extend the electrical circuit into the attic where the radon fan is installed. We opted to have the electrician "pull the electrical permit" and that was an additional $85. The second contractor we invited over was very knowledgeable (like Andrew), but he recommended a much more comprehensive installation and at an additional $1,000 cost to us. Turns out that would have been a waste of our money. Hint - don't let someone tell you that you need to extend the PVC piping into the sump pump basket. Not always true. A1 Radon was able to reduce our radon level without this extra work (and saved us $1,000 in the process). The third contractor we invited out (who came recommended by someone) did not match up to Andrew or the second contractor's confidence and on top of that, his warranty for parts and labor was only one year. A1's warranty is five years. Andrew and Rob have built a well-deserved reputation and if you want a quality, professional install, then A1 Radon is an excellent choice. Trust me, you'll see more and more reviews like this in Angie's List for anyone who cares to share their experience too. Nice job Andrew and Rob! PS: I have an aunt who died from lung cancer and did not smoke a day in her life. No one checked the house for radon, but from what I know now, I believe that's what caused her death. Go buy yourself a short-term test kit and check the radon level in your house. If the radon level is 4.0 or above (the EPA's recommended level to install a remediation system), then call A1 Radon Services. You'll be glad you did!

I called Andy from A1 and told him that we needed a radon system installed. He was able to get to my home much quicker than i imagined and did a wonderful job. Andy showed up with another co-worker exactly on time and was out of my house in 2 1/2 hours. The system looks great and isn't as much an eyesore as I was expecting. I would recommend his company and service to anyone looking to have radon testing or removal services.

Andrew and Rob were focused, approachable, and answered all my questions ... as well as educating us with easy to understand and proactive information (what to monitor and look for as the system operates and ages; let our HVAC servicer know we installed the system and to check the water heater backdraft; would need to be replaced in approximately 10 years; and such). Offered us the option of using their electrician or our own; we used theirs and were very happy with the education, consideration, and service provided. Andrew and Rob finished in half a day; Brothers Electric completed their work in less than 45 minutes in the early afternoon. Rob retrieved the test box about a week later and shared reduction results immediately. We received the follow up report documentation within 2 days. Andrew communicated clearly prior to installation about the process, cost, and then the installation date. We would definitely recommend the services of A1 Radon Services LLC.
Description of Work: Actual cost was $1,300.00 for A1 installation, training, post mitigation radon testing + $285.00 for electrician to run power to radon fan. A1 staff installed comprehensive drain tile depressurization radon mitigation system ... running vent pipe from sump area in crawl space up interior garage wall to Radonaway brand inline radon fan in attic space, discharging 12 inches above roof line and running continuously. Included installing leak proof roof flashing, sealing existing sump cover to provide an airtight seal, and running power to the radon fan. Staff also checked house depressurization/backdraft, trained on system operation, and provided post mitigation radon testing (which showed a reduction of 8.4+ on prior testing to <.2).

It was great. I had contacted other A rated contractors to look at my situation. None called me back. I noticed Andrew was also in Eden Prairie. He called me back about 45 minutes after I filled out the online form on his site. As luck would have it, I was working from home that day and he came out 45 minutes after that. I got a quote of 1600...which is about what I was expecting to pay based on other research I had done. He fit me in for an appt within 2 weeks of that date. He was in and out in less than 1/2 a day. DONE!! Great to have such responsiveness.

Performed radon mitigation at our house before we moved in. They were efficient, professional, and got the job done, even though our home had a number of challenging features like an extensive crawlspace that they had to crawl through to place the piping and multi-layered decking that needed to be removed for the exit pipe/fan. They proposed a unique solution to our mitigation issues, and it worked and saved us a lot of money from the other companies that bid on the job! Andrew and his partner were really terrific to work with--we would very highly recommend their service!

I had gotten two other bids, which were substantially higher than Andrews' ($2785 and $2360 compared to Andrews' $1375). This was because the other two bids advised sealing our crawl space as well as installing a vent pipe and fan, whereas Andrew's proposal was to not seal the crawl space but install the vent pipe into the soil below the crawl space and vent the radon gas out, thus bypassing the need for sealing the crawl space. Additionally, Andrew acutely explained to us that, especially because we didn't start off with a super high level of radon, that installing the radon mitigation system without sealing the crawl space would adequately reduce our radon levels, thus reducing the amount of labor involved and therefore the cost. One other bid also advised sealing the ductwork in the crawl space, replacing all of the insulation in the crawl space, adding house wrap to the ceiling of the crawl space, and removing other ductwork that we had in the basement. This would have added significant cost to our radon mitigation project. The bid for replacing the insulation alone (from another contractor) was an additional $2309. So we are super glad that we had Andrew come to give us a bid because his proposal got the job done at a much lower cost than other proposals. We had a really great experience with this company from start to finish. When Andrew came to do the bid, he really thought about the best way to do mitigation in our home. We have an older home with complicated spaces for them to route the mitigation system through, but they still worked quickly and didn't run into any unexpected problems. After the first installation our levels were slightly high (2.1), which they had said in their proposal was a possibility. So they did a second site, as outlined in their proposal. They actually included the second site without any extra charge, which we greatly appreciate. We used our own radon monitor to verify levels too, and it was just very telling to see that they welcomed the additional information. They also communicated really well in explaining how things worked, what they were doing, and how to maintain the system. Would highly recommend them to anyone needing radon mitigation work.
Description of Work: Our long-term radon test showed 3.8, so we didn't have very high radon levels, but EPA advises to reduce our radon levels to below 2.0. Andrew came and installed a radon mitigation system that was guaranteed to and did reduce our radon levels to below 2.0.

Andrew Costigan replied promptly to my call and scheduled a visit to look over our basement. He was thorough and answered all my questions while here. He got us a proposal in a day. His proposal did not include some extra actions that another radon firm suggested that would have cost an extra $700 as he said he didn't think it necessary given our radon levels (and that if the levels didn't fall to less than 2 pci/l, he'd then add the extra step). We scheduled the actual work a few weeks out. Andrew and his colleague arrived on time and got done in about 3 hours. Their work looked great (basement pipe well finished, roof pipe painted black to better blend in, sump pump cover allowed us to see into the sump well) and they took the time to explain what they did and what we needed to do to maintain the system. Andrew put a radon meter in the basement and when he came back to collect it 3 days, our radon levels had fallen 75% to under 1.0 on average.

Andrew was very professional in assessing the services needed and proposing an intervention. As with other bidders, he proposed interventions in stages to save money and not unnecessarily install abatement. Our house was more complicated than some. Andrew responded swiftly in dealing with the additional interventions within a very short time frame due to the sale of our home. I was impressed with his knowledge and professionalism.

Andrew promptly returned my call. He was very pleasant and accommodating with his schedule. He had a full calendar but my circumstances were such that I needed him to install it prior to his next available date. He was able to make room to help us out. His service was fast, respectful to our space and he left no mess. He took time to explain how it worked and came back promptly after performing a last test to make sure that the levels were indeed much lower (within safe levels set by EPA). Price was more than fair and overall service was awesome!

The project went very well. Andrew called me right back and set an appointment to do some testing and talk with me about his results, the result from the inspector and the different options for a system. Within 24 hours he e-mailed me a complete bid and guarantee. His pricing was right in line with other bids, but he did a better job providing me information, options and solutions. He and his assistant came out and installed the system a week later - it took about 5 hours. After retesting for about 5 days, the levels went from over 18 to less than 2 - well below the EPA recommendations of 4. I would recommend Andrew and A1 to everyone! Hire without hesitation.

We had a fantastic experience with A1 Radon services. We needed someone to correct the radon problem in our basement. We were moving out of town and needed the work done ASAP. We were able to contact A1 Radon Services from Angie's list - we got a quick response and he did it! Andrew was on time, on budget and did everything he promised. His services also included running a test to confirm that the radon was gone our of out basement! We needed this in order to complete the sale of our home. Andrew was professional - he came when we needed him to. Worked with us in everyway. We are completely satisfied with his work. I would recommend him and his crew to everyone!! He made a stressful situation for us - much easier because he had the answers we needed. He was quick to respond, completed his work as stated and very professional. He knows his stuff and the work he does. Outstanding job. Thanks Andrew!!!

I was very pleased with the work. My calls were returned promptly and Andrew with A1 did a thorough review of my home to determine the optimal location to install the radon mitigation system. He is knowledgable and experienced in the field and explained the various alternatives to me to lower the radon level. The site was cleaned up well after the installation. Upon his return to retest the radon level, he gave me a detailed explanation of the system and what to monitor over time. I highly recommend A1 Radon.

I called Andrew late one evening and he responded right away. We had just received the go ahead from our realtor to proceed with the requested buyer modifications to a house that we were in the process of selling. I only had a little less than two weeks before closing to have the remediation system installed and retested. Andrew was very helpful and responsive. He took care of everything prior to closing and everything couldn't have gone any more smoothly. I would definitely recommend him.

Andrew provided excellent, prompt service. He also called back, following up on a systems performance question that I had. A-1 was the third contractor that I contacted, having at first failed to receive a call back from one Angie's list service. The second contractor I called did not answer their telephone. I contacted Andrew at A-1. He answered the phone promptly, provided an estimate of the work, scheduled the service appointment, arrived on time, performed the service as contracted, followed-up promptly with the question that I had. I provided my Realtor with Andrew's cards, as I am certain that there are homes in Minnesota that could use the service. I also attached a business card to the actual radon motor so furture owners of the home know to call Andrew if there is a need. Overall a very positive experience. It's great to know that there remain small business owners like Andrew who really care about their customers and express that care and concern with quality services.

Bottom line, it took a couple of tries but the ultimately they (A1 Radon mitigation team) met the very stringent (<2% pCi/L) conditions required by the buyers of the house. A1 Radon was great to work with despite having a very busy schedule. They showed up when they said they would, explained the work to us and discussed options. When the first conservative approach didn't lower the radon under <2% pCi/L, they came back again and worked very hard to resolve the issue. A1 Radon also knew we had a deadline and even came out during the weekend to check on the newly installed system. I would highly recommend them and have to neighbors and co-workers.
