Overall, very pleased with their work. The only thing I wasn't happy with, which is fairly minor, was the pipes going outside. The first day crew did not seal off the pipes going out of the house and you could see daylight. Would have been very easy for mice or snakes to crawl through and given we live on a marsh, concerned me to the point that I stuffed a towel into the opening for that night. The cement crew that came out the next day, did close up the hole with caulk from the outside, so all was well. Other than that one minor thing, they were great! I would still use them again. They cleaned up everything wonderfully, you would never have known they were there! Price was good, we compared them to another company and they came in with a better solution to our water issue and price. So far, with the rain this week, we have not seen any water in our basement and are hopeful that Standard's solution has fixed out issue!

Standard Water Control Systems gave me a bid but there's such a backlog they will be able to start in September. They were professional, showed up on time when they said they were going to be here and they were very responsive. They gave me what I wanted and I have a good feeling. They weren't rated as high and I can't see why.

The service went well. They did an excellent job and were great at explaining everything in great detail. The technicians were courteous and and did great with the clean up. Scheduling was very easy and they were always on time. The pricing was competitive, but the quality of service was well worth it. I would highly recommend this company to others.

They did a perfectly professional job, leaving my basement cleaner than I left it for them, in the time frame they estimated. I've been waiting for a huge rain to write this review, and I haven't been disappointed. Since the rains started, I've been wearing a groove in my stairs running down them to listen to my new sump pump working away, then running back up the stairs and out the front door to watch my new system dump in the yard. It's been fascinating and unfailing. It amazes me the amount of water that I would be swimming in if not for Standard Water Control.
Description of Work: Dug out my old, non functional drain tile system and sump pump. Replaced with their custom drain tile and sump system. This required a great deal of prep work on my end, as they had to jack hammer out my existing floor to do the job.

Standard Water Control Systems Inc. did the work in two days. Everyone was really good and it's working like a charm. They were nice and communicated well. They were on time. They called afterwards to check on whether it was working okay. Everything just worked out perfectly. We used their credit, where you have six months to pay it off and no interest, and that has worked out well, too.

Nice guy, professional. Good presentation of their systems. Seemed a little over zealous to install an expensive system if we would continue to live in this home. However, we are moving in a month so we felt like it was not necessary at the time. Especially since it is an unfinished basement and we have no sitting water (ever) in our basement. We also have a current working sump pump and drain tile that is getting us by for now. I think if we were not moving and deciding to finish off the basement, we would definitaly see the benefit of a new system they were recommending somewhere in the future.
Description of Work: Had the sales guy come out to a**** our basement and consult with us to see what (if anything) was needed. We have infrequent/occasional seepage on our basement walls during extremely severe rains/melting snow.

I have worked with 150+ contractors on multiple houses I have owned or property managed....these guys were THE BEST! Best customer service and best crews I have ever worked with in the field!!! During their initial quote they also provided me a list of all my neighbors who they had performed services for and they all gave awesome references also! Price was about $2200 higher than the competitor, but they were out within the week working and had the job done in only 2 days (including all setup and cleanup).

The sump pump system that Standard installed is non-functional and we have filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. This is the worst company we have ever dealt with. The salesman told us that the Standard sump pump would resolve the problem of water in our heat ducts as we live in a townhouse built on a slab and get water in the ducts in the springtime when the snow melts and we trusted him. However, this first spring after installation we still had water in the heat ducts. So, we called Standard and requested a service call to make sure the system was operational. The owner, said that they would NOT make a service call. He said that there was a note in our contract stating that they wouldn't guarantee that water wouldn't come into the ducts. However, the salesman assured us that this line item in the contract was merely a technicality and that, in his professional opinion, the sump pump was the solution to our problems. However, the owner said that we should have known their system might not work. We trusted the salesman and we trusted the company since it had a good rating from Angie's List. But, when we called for service, advice, and help, the owner said they would NOT come out despite the fact that their mission statement says that they put the customer first. Not true. In fact, the call we made to request service was a disgrace as it became verbally abusive with the owner finally threatening us with a lawsuit if we persisted in complaining. In conclusion, we feel that the salesman misled us, that Standard provided us with NO customer support, and that we were verbally abused when we called for assistance. Finally, we've lost $2,700 on a system that doesn't correct the problem we still have.

Response from Standard Water Control Systems Inc
When our salesperson, Todd, was out to the home he found the members heat ducts were filling with water. He went over the options with included an entire drain tile system and new heat ducts that would cost in excess of $20,000. As this is a finished home the owner would also have to move out during installation and deal with remodeling costs afterward that could run another $30,000. Understandably the member wanted less expensive options, so our salesperson suggested a double deep basin next to the furnace in an attempt to drain water from the ducts. He informed the member this procedure would not stop water from entering the heat pipes but should drain them if the heat pipes were installed properly. Code requires heat pipes slant down toward the furnace. Unfortunately, not all contractors ensure they are installed correctly. Our salesperson explained there would be no guarantee or warranty whatsoever as Standard Water could not be responsible for the way the heat pipes were installed by the original contractor. This was also written plainly on the front of the contract which can be viewed on our website blog. Apparently, the ducts were not installed correctly by the original contractor; the member observed standing water and asked Standard Water to come out and do something. While I sympathized with the homeowners plight, I explained there was nothing left to do but remove the heat ducts, install drain tile under them and replace the current ducts with water tight heat pipes. The member became very upset saying he wouldn’t spend that kind of money and demanded we do something. I apologized again, explained there could be no warranty on a job like the one we did for him and reminded him we offered a solution with a warranty good for the life of the foundation … which he rejected. The member then threatened me, to which I replied it was his right to sue us if he feels he’s been wronged. In the end, we did the job the member requested after fully informing him of all the options and limitations. Even now the member rejects the only option Standard Water can provide that would both solve his problem once and for all and offer a warranty good for the life of the foundation. This being the case there is nothing more we can do.

I'm expecting the Day 2 crew to hold to the same standard of work.
Description of Work: With above average snowfall this winter, I suddenly had water in my tuckunder garage. I was preparing to remodel the space during those last warm days in March when it became clear the space had water problem. Where else to go for such a large purchase but Angie's List and Standard Water Control was rated above the rest. There was a solid record of excellent service except for one reviewer, who was in dispute with the company. She described her conflict in detail, and in particular, made the company owner, Mike, out to be a bully. Salesman Tod was out that afternoon, and bid on a space that was totally stuffed with family and business storage. Thank God for lasers! He was pleasant, informative, and efficient. I mentioned the one bad review on Ange's List and he invited me to call the owner himself. Our conversation convinced me to hire Standard Water Control, and the Day 1 crew has just left my house. Another crew will repair the floor tomorrow, but I wanted to express my thanks to the entire crew of Ed,, J, Lonnie, Brady and Rob for their work today. Not only did the crew spend 45 minutes helping to move the stuff I either hadn't (adult children stuff +) or couldn't like built in shelves, part of a staircase and shelving (thank you Ed!). The entire crew was knowledgable, efficient and thorough in spite of my constant questions.

Kevin is phenomenal and trust worthy. He listened to all of the information that I could provide about the problem. We moved into our 1933 house in December and discovered wet, soiled carpet on first thaw around March 30. I had already pulled the carpet back and disposed of the water logged carpet pad. This was the only corner of the basement that had water damage. Kevin assessed a drain that had been installed by the previous owners on the exterior of the home. Even though I was slightly persistent about adding drain tile, Kevin told us it may be overkill because of water only coming in on that area of the basement. He referred me to another contractor that would come and evaluate the exterior drain. I was impressed with Kevin's honesty and his ability to refer me to another colleague who may be able to fix my problem for less money. My experience with this company was nothing short of amazing and I'm a little sad that I can't throw my money at them:) However...I will find more fun ways of spending the saved money! Thanks Kevin!

Most impressed by the cleanliness of the project, everything was taped off well and the debris was neatly passed out a window. The team was super efficient and punctual. Within a month after finishing our basement the battery back-up system was put to the test; we lost power for almost four days and we could see the pump kicking water out of the house. Thank you Standard Water Control Systems for keeping our new basement dry!

We did not choose to go with Standard but only because the service they provide was more than we needed. My reason for writing this review is after surveying our situation and what we might do to correct it the representative was forthright and honest that the minimum work they would do would be more than we needed. He thanked us for the opportunity to come out for the estimate, and gave us many thoughts on how to proceed with our issue. It's refreshing to have a vendor be so completely honest even when they know that they will not get the job. High marks in my book for that!

Standard Water installed 160ft of drain tile in my home. They were prompt, accessible and fair. The owner / operator was directly involved on the timing and some design aspects of the project. The quality and speed of the work was impressive which took two days from start to finish. The crew who did the work were courteous and did a great job in sealing off the work area. Frankly, the entire process was pretty smooth - I'd HIGHLY recommend Standard Water Control of this type of work.

Everything with this project went very well. The person that did the quote was knowledgeable and helpful. The scheduling was precise and the work was done on-time. The crew was great and very informative about what was going to happen each day and when it was going to happen. We had drain tile laid around the entire foundation and a sump pump installed. I did have some minor concerns about the concrete that was laid back down. In some areas it was not smoothed out very well. There are high ridges up against the drain tile section next to the foundation wall. I don't think this is a big deal as once the basement walls are finished, this is not noticeable and I don't think it affects the performance of the system. I just think it may have been rushed in this section. Maybe it was the end of the day. A year later, I did have some water leaking through one section of the foundation wall. I called them up and they had a quick patch done within a few days. I was very pleased with the response on that.

Thank You for taking the time to submit your comments. Yes it has been a long time. We installed your drain tile system on April 26, 1989 and we haven't heard from you since. The drain tile we installed still has the same lifetime warranty in effect as the day we installed it. We do recommend that we come out and check your pump and backup pump system when it's convenient for you. Please call our office to make arrangements. Thank You again and we look forward to hearing from you.
