Standard Water installed a full-perimeter drain tile system in my home. This work included the removal of an existing drain tile system (original system only covered a portion of the house’s perimeter) and the need to tunnel under an existing tiled shower stall as one complicated feature of the project. Standard Water provided excellent service in answering all of the questions that I had before the work started and as the work was in progress. The company was very diligent in keeping the house clean (removed debris through a basement window) and thoroughly cleaned up once they were completely done with the project. On the day of the installation, the foreman noticed that the previously planned location of the discharge pipe was to be located in an area where discharged water would have covered the main walkway that leads to the front door. The foreman made a recommendation to re-route the discharge pipe to another location, far from where people enter and exit the house. I was very impressed with this as the company was looking after my best interest in this regard even through the alternative location was not as easy for them to complete as sticking with the original plan for the discharge pipe. On the second day of the project, some damage occurred inside the house were materials were being loaded/removed through a basement window. Standard Water came out immediately to inspect the damage, took ownership of the problem and promptly resolved the issue to my full satisfaction. I would recommend Standard Water to anyone seeking the installation of a drain tile system. The professionalism of its people, the quality of its work and its materials are superior to anyone else in the market.

Very professional from the estimator to the guys who dug up the basement, to the cement finishers. Their bid was much lower than others we got, but the system they installed was top notch. They discovered another problem with a drain pipe, excavated the area, and helped us evaluate the situation even though they knew it was not a problem they dealt with. Jack hammering concrete is a dirty business and they sealed off the area and cleaned up after themselves expertly.

Work was very high-quality and done quickly and as cleanly as concrete removal/replacement can be. We have had water issues in our basement over the years and decided to finally do a long-term solution. We went with Standard Water Control largely because we had gotten a quote from them a few years earlier and were impressed with the sales guy's professionalism. Standard Water Control ripped up the old cement along the edges of the house and installed drain tile, then came back the next day and sealed it back up. I was surprised at how quickly they were able to do the work. The people we interacted with were all very helpful and professional. The new sump pump is electronically monitored so we can see its status at a glance. It went so well that we decided to have the radon mitigation pump installed by them as well, which they came back to do a few weeks later. The price includes all of this.

I hired Standard Water to do glass block windows on my basement windows and also put a $560 deposit in for interior drain tile. The salesman told me that my basement would also be helped by perimeter grading and new gutters. I hired other companies to do the grading and gutters, and then my basement was bone dry, eliminating the need for interior drain tile. I asked for the $560 deposit back, and Standard Water wouldn't return it, despite me being a good customer and paying them almost a thousand dollars for the glass block windows.

Response from Standard Water Control Systems Inc
We’re very sorry this customer is upset. She originally scheduled us to install a basement waterproofing system in 2018. She then cancelled the installation after the 3 day rescission period that is clearly noted in the contract. Had she cancelled within 3 days, we would have refunded the money. In 2019 the homeowner re-scheduled the waterproofing system installation but, once again, cancelled beyond the 3 day window. Now, about half way through 2020, the customer wants to revisit the issue covered by the contract she signed. Generally, we will give a credit when a customer re-schedules within six months and we actually do the job. If the customer re-schedules and then cancels again, our 10% cancellation fee will become active. To be clear, the down payment covers our cancellation fee. We believe it’s bad business to surprise customers with things like cancellation fees. They get upset and it harms our reputation. Our policy is to be as clear and upfront about all costs involved so the customer isn’t surprised. Even though we go out of our way to be clear about the 3 day window for cancellation, sometimes customers still miss it. This will be a topic in an upcoming sales meeting.

We have a small very old basement with steep steps. The crew did an amazing job getting all the dirt and concrete out and the rock in. I was impressed with how clean it was afterward, given the nature of the work. They were very knowledgeable and took time to explain whatever I didn’t understand.

I live in a home over 100 years old. My basement was always wet, with standing water. This excellent product install was about 10yrs ago. My basement is now completely dry. The work was extensive and difficult because I have a large footprint in my home, the cement is old and then there was an ancient rainwater sewer system under the foundation. The work was completed on time and even though this is really dirty work, it was thoroughly cleaned upon completion. Recently I called for a maintenance request after hours and left a message. My call was returned the following morning. The appointment was scheduled for the next day. The worker who came to my house was knowledgeable, courteous, and expedient. I was so happy to have a basement that went from standing water to being able to finish the space and installing a large egress window and walkout. I have been a customer of Standard Water Control Systems for over 10 years. I have never regretted this decision.

We've been considering getting a sump pump and drain tiles installed in our basement for a while. Every snow melt and heavy rain brought on stress that water would get into the basement. We had Standard Water and a couple of other companies come out to give us estimates. Ted from Standard Water was friendly, knowledgeable, and zero pressure. The Standard Water quote ended up being the most reasonable and we felt confident that they'd do a great job. The drain tile and sump pump installation took 8 hours (9 AM - 5 PM) and the concrete took a couple of hours the next day. The crew was down to business and left the place as clean as they could given the messy job they were doing. The system comes with a lifetime guarantee which is an added bonus.

Very low pressure sales meeting. The owner was very helpful with a follow up call. Bid was very competitive and fair. Job was done in 2 days. The job supervisor, Scott, showed up on day one with a small army of help. Trenches were dug and system was done on day one. Cement truck came on day two (only took a couple of hours). Overall good job. The crew was responsive to my request for sump basin location and was able to accommodate the quirks of my 1927 home. Overall great job.

They installed this system over two days in September of 2017. It was amazing to watch these professionals work. On the first day, four men broke up and removed the concrete. Then they dug up the dirt and removed it bucket by bucket. They installed the drainage system and sump pump. By the time they were done, they had completely filled a dump truck with the dirt and concrete that was removed bucket by bucket. The four were all very courthouse and hard working. They never stopped. They cleaned up their work so that the basement was ready the next day for the cement crew. The second day the cement crew came and in a few hours completely sealed the drainage tunnel. It looked great. This crew was exactly like the first crew: courteous and very hard working. I cannot say enough about the job they did. The proof of the quality of their work will come next spring but I could not have been happier with the work they performed for me.
Description of Work: I bought an older home. The spring rains brought a lot of water into the basement. I decided I needed to install a drainage system and sump pump. I solicited several bids. Standard Water Control Systems was the most professional company to present a bid.

Smooth as silk and the guys were nice. They even gave me a piece of plywood to cover a window well that had broken (not their fault).
Description of Work: I had a well room closed off, drain tile installed around the entire perimeter of my basement, and a sump pump installed. Standard was my first quote and I felt it was too much. Got several others and the quotes kept getting larger. Settled on Standard and am so happy I did. I had a small wall removed after installation. The cement under the frame was a mess because they couldn't smooth it out under a wall. I called to see if it was something they could/would fix. They had no problem with it and came within two days at no charge. It had been a year since original installation so I wasn't expecting such good service. The warranty is transferable too. Love them.

I noticed I was getting a bunch of water in my tuck under garage. I had 3 different companies come out and give me estimates on interior drain tile and I decided to go with Standard Water. Very easy. The crew leader was great at explaining the process and options (location of sump and outlets, complicated by a weird basement layout). The workers immediately covered our belongings in plastic, which I did not expect, and they suggested I plug some radiator pipe holes from above to avoid dust getting upstairs. The excavation/pipe/sump crew was in and out in a little over half a day (they worked through lunch to get it done). The only surprise was being told that morning that the new concrete would have to slope up slightly toward perimeter to properly cover the foundation block (not uncommon in old homes, we were told); this would have been nice to know earlier, since we're considering floor coverings and slopes affect what we choose. Concrete work (filling in the trench drain) occurred promptly the following day. The troweling isn't perfect, but neither is our basement, so we're OK with it. Overall, Standard Water really lived up to its reputation.

The job went very well. The initial crew showed up on-time and did a walk through of the area and answered all the questions I had. The foreman was very knowledgeable and took the time to make sure I understood the process. The crew then began putting plastic and masking off the work area. Plywood was laid outside despite the fact that the ground was frozen and the temp was well below zero! The demo was noisy but the dirt and dust was kept to a minimum due to the plastic and filters used. The floor was demo'd and the old drain tile and debris removed bucket by bucket. Washed rock was then put in place along with the new drain tile material and Diamond Board (cool stuff). The following day, the cement crew showed up at 845 am, 9 degrees below zero! Cement was mixed outside using hot water and hot sand. Plastic was laid down over the new drain tile trench/system and then the cement was applied and finished. The system was fully tested and I did a walk through of the site with the foreman. Great job by the whole crew. I was impressed with the coordination of the crew and work being done. The completed project has totally met my expectations! If needed, I'll hire Standard Water Control Systems again. Thanks!
