I was very pleased with Tom's willingness to talk me through the situation and options even though this was unlikely to turn into a job for him. He was very nice, very experienced and very professional not to mention generous with his time, information and advice for what turned out to be a do-it-yourself job. Thanks again, Tom!

Tom came out and inspected my basement. I knew I had a mold problem and I needed a pro. We were planning a complete remodeling of the space. Tom talked about the issues he could see and those he suspected regarding moisture coming from the landscaping and gutters. Who knew that the stuff on the roof effected the basement? He gave me an estimate that was almost 1/3 of that given by another Angie's List contractor - though to be fair, he was also going to do less work. Though he didn't get back to me with an itemized bid I chose to hire him. He did all the work in one day and billed exactly as the verbal bid. Tom followed up with a detailed report on his findings after the foundation was completely exposed. The report informs us on the next steps we can take.

Tom was courteous and professional when I called to schedule an appointment. He arrived on time, and I started showing him the areas of my home that were causing me concern. He told me that I didn't need to stay with him, that he was willing to put all of his findings in a written report. However, when I expressed a wish to remain with him to see what he had to say, he was extremely patient about explaining everything to me. He looked in several areas in my lower level, pulled up small sections of the carpet, looked in closets, used a moisture meter on our lower level walls, climbed up into our attic space, and checked outside to look at our gutters, roof, and landscaping. He was very thorough. He told me that on a scale of 1 to 10, with 10 being the worst, my house rated a 1. He also told me that he would have to charge me a minimum of $600 to come in and remove the mold that was present in my home, but that I could easily do it on my own. He told me which products to purchase to complete the job, and told me about several websites that would be useful to me. He was in my home for about 90 minutes, and it was very reassuring to hear what he had to say. After he left, he sent us a complete written report of all his findings. Overall, I was very impressed with Tom's knowledge and professionalism, and he was friendly and honest on top of it. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend his work.

They did not think anything needed to be done. They were prompt and honest.

Tom came over to look through the house to check for any issues. It was truly a peace of mind to have Tom let us know our house didn't have any issues, in fact he gave us a lot of tips of what to do to treat the minor mold he found and what to do to prevent it. He was very detailed and easy to get along with. From researching mold companies I've seen that they can charge around 300 just to come out and to look around. Tom's charge is very affordable and knowing what he told us is priceless, especially when it related to the environment we want to raise our child in.

He validated that the area we were concerned about was not an issue. He then helped us determine the most likely cause of the problem and gave good advice on how to rectify it ourselves.

Tom, the owner, was very personable and friendly when I called. He came to give the estimate, and gave us lots of advice and information. He is very knowledgeable about mold! I really appreciated his careful explanations. At the time, I asked for a written estimate, which he gave me. It included a list of services performed and he stated it was an estimate for a full day's work with 2 men. We were very impressed with Tom, his price was average, and so hired his company. He scheduled the work for a day when he could be there personally to do the job with an assistant. He was very punctual, even 10 minutes early! He got right to work and was very willing to ask and answer questions. As the job progressed, it became clear that our mold problem was not as extensive as we had feared, and much less work was needed to do the job -- they did not have to remove all the insulation and scrub the concrete walls or deal with window frames as originally thought. In fact, Tom left for a couple of hours (his assistant stayed) and the job was still completed by 2:00 in the afternoon (not a full day's work). The men were very professional, extremely polite, friendly and clean! I have absolutely no doubt that they performed a high-quality job. My only concern came when it was time for payment. Tom quoted the original estimate price to me. When I talked with him and mentioned that all of the services in the original estimate had not needed to be performed, and that it wasn't a whole day, 2-man job (also as originally estimated), I mentioned that I thought the total cost should be somewhat less than originally estimated. Tom exclaimed that no one had ever asked him that question before and was very hesitant to negotiate. I told him I wanted to pay him fairly but also wanted to pay only for services rendered. Eventually he offered to take $50 off the bill. I decided to accept that offer, although it seemed like the fact that he saved a couple hours' work or so plus materials should have been more than $50. So, bottom line is that I was very pleased with the quality of the work, just not sure I got such a good deal on the price.

Certified Mold Inspection & Remediation was very friendly, and personable. They looked at all coners of my home. They were clean, and respectful of my house. If needed, I would use them again in the future.

She took sampling from walls, doors and examined the outdoors. She was an absolute delight to work with, and was very thorough in her examination. She was very professional, and just a great deal of fun to be around. She was punctual and I would give her A s across the board, I would drfinatly recommend her to anyone.

I had black mold around the bathtub. He was very reassuring, inspecting every little spot and told me how I could take care of it myself. He was very up front and honest. I would use him again.

Tom recommended several things that I could do to prevent the mold from reoccurring, which I found helpful. Tom also recommended a handyman that could replace the ceiling that was removed. Although the handyman's work did not go as I expected, I was generally satisfied with Tom's recommendation.

Tom was very nice and professional. He explained everything to me and seemed to look over everything throughly. I hope I don't need his help again (Who wants mold?), but if I do, I'll be glad he's the man for the job.

We were extremely happy with Tom Schultz. I called Tom to inquire of his services and see if he would be available for an inspection of our home for possible mold and air quality. I talked with Tom at 2pm and he was at a job site assisting another customer. He was obviously concerned of our problem and made an extra effort to come out and inspect our home later in the evening, after hours. He was very professional upon arrival and gave us free insight as to how to repair our mold issues. He gave us peace of mind and this is worth more than what he charged us. He was very fair and I would recommend him highly.

We purchased an old house, and there are some strong and strange smells coming from the basement. I wanted to make sure that mold wasn't a problem. Tom came out to the house and inspected the basement by looking around. He was really happy with our basement (he likes old houses) and mentioned that he didn't see mold problems. The basement was quite dry. There was one window with a little bit of mold around the edge, and he suggested cleaning it up with some easily obtainable chemicals. In short: he could have easily sold me on a more expensive process (he also does mold remediation), but he didn't do so; and we all walked away happy.

Tom was thorough in his explanations of alternatives, and remediation steps. He reassured us about environmental hazards of mold in an unventilated room. Responded to our call promptly, scheduled within a short period and performed the job well.

Gave a quote on price. My dad originally thought the price was high, but told him was good for extent of problem and seriousness of the need to remove for Mom's health, near washer/ dryer in upper laundry. He waited 2 months due to holidays (for mom request), I gave him EPA handouts on seriousness again. They came taped off area, took all mold/ sheetrock carefully, clean up. Mom was upset because the wall was not sheetrocked again after. I think she yelled at him. (It was not part of bid)I know they did a great job and appreciate it. They still have leaky water heater behind wall Not sure why they have not fixed, but had handy person put up water resistant sheetrock and I painted it so I know it was gone. Mom already has COPD. Not sure how long the mold was there before I saw it. I was out of state. Thanks very much anyways, sorry if was yelled at. I personally called another place for mold help and they never came and finally month or so later they sent letter saying could not help me. (After I called many times and they said too busy- not taking jobs).

After checking Angie's List I contacted this company for help. Tom responded quickly and came out as promised. He looked at the area of concern and quickly determined it was not mold but rather dirt from the dog. Not content with looking at just one area, Tom checked several other areas in the house, finding nothing. As he checked through the house he talked about common problems, areas to watch, good practices to prevent problems. It was quite an education. As he prepared to leave I asked about the charge for his visit. He looked at me and asked whether he had said anything about a charge. The cost was nothing at all and he had to come across the metro area to get to my house. In an era of high gas prices, it's pretty amazing to meet someone like that. He is passionate about his business and enjoys helping people.

This was a total waste of time. I expected that there would be some sort of physical testing to verify the presence of mold. The area inspected was a basement with previous signs of water damage and a very strong odor. During the inspection, the inspector pointed to and visually identified an area of mold in a furnace area of the basement. His simple one page report, reported that NO mold was found! I called and asked him why there was mold cited at the inspection, but that it was not included in the report. The inspector told me that he "forgot". I asked him to correct the report. He said on the phone that he would, but later emailed me that he was refunding my money and wanted no further contact from me.

Tom pulled up the edge of our basement carpets and removed a wall panel to search for mold on the foundation walls. He then inspected the outside of the house for possible low spots against the foundation to determine any source of water infiltration. Some mold was found, which we were tutored on removing ourselves. Tom also had other ideas on how to improve our indoor air quality. I marked N/A on the price because I did not check out any other mold inspection servicer prices.

The whole process went without a hitch. It was easy to reach Tom by email or phone, and he was always ready to answer our questions (there were many). Throughout I was impressed by Tom's knowledge and professionalism.

We found mold in my mother's home while preparing it for sale. We chose Certified because of the member comments on Angie's. Tom responded quickly to our voice mail and came out to give us an estimate the same day. He was incredibly knowledgeable and very helpful. He gave us tips about what we could do ourselves. He gave us an estimate on a Thursday evening and due to our tight schedule was able to rearrange his schedule to help us out. He and his crew (Jim & Mark) arrived on time the following Monday. They cut and removed the bottom third of the wood paneling and vapor barrier from the basement, cleaned the walls, sprayed fungicide to the affected areas, and wrapped everything for disposal. These guys are GREAT! They went out of their way to be helpful. Tom gave us referrals to a contractor (for painting & the addition of a wall & door) & a landscaper. Both of which turned out to be just as helpful, considerate, fair, & honest. Additionally, the contractor contacted an electrician he knew because we needed new wiring for a hallway fixture - even the electrician came out and performed the work the same day! I am sure that by using Certified that you will find them as useful as we did. It is nice to find someone who is so helpful and honest. We will definitely spread the news about their service.

Tom found a small amount of mold in the basement, under the kitchen sink, and on the bathroom windowsill. He provided a report with suggestions for mold remediation along with his estimate. The estimate was more than I could pay at the time ($1500), so we followed his suggestions and completed the work ourselves. I would call Tom in the future if I have other problems.

Tom was professional and thorough. He came to our house and examined all the areas I was concerned had mold. He answered all my questions patiently. He told me to first fix the plumbing issue in our bathroom before he came back to get rid of the mold. He scheduled an appointment with me that day for later in the week to come and get the job done. He arrived on time and carefully went about removing the mold, taking all necessary precautions so the mold spores were contained. We will be calling Tom again to remediate more mold in our basement, after his suggestion that we first regrade around the exterior of our home.

Tom was able to give me an appointment within a couple of days. He did tell me his charge was $150 for the consultation. It seemed high to me, but I chose to employ his services because he came so highly recommended by Angie's list. Tom inspected the area in the tuck under garage. He tested for mold and found a minimum amount. He explained to me in detail what was mold and what was not, as well as the source for which it came. He cleaned the area and made prevention and cleaning recommendations. We then went into my basement, part of which is finished, and he checked a couple of other areas in question. I am happy to know that I do not have a mold problem in the house. Tom's inspection and explanation was thorough. Hopefully I won't have to use his services in the future, but I wouldn't hesitate to call him if needed.
