We are considering buying a house that had some past water penetration issues and wanted to make sure there were no significant mold issues that we couldn't see. I called Certified Mold Inspection & Remediation Svcs in the early afternoon and was able to get Tom out at the property by 3:30 as he was nearby returning from another job. Tom was very thorough and patient with all my questions. He explained the likely causes for most mold problems and showed some pictures of things that look OK on the outside but upon closer inspection, with various equipment, could be problematic. As a result, there were only a few minor problems that could easily be taken care of by myself. He provided a detailed report and listed what cleaning/sanitizing agents would work best. He also recommended better grading to keep the water away from the foundation. I couldn't be happier with the experience and will rest easier knowing a licensed professional gave the home a thumbs up!

After tearing out the wood paneling in the basement (applied by the former homeowner,) we discovered moisture and mold behind the walls. The studs and insulation were wet, as were the concrete block walls, and much was moldy. Tom Schultz came out promptly when we called, and gave us some options and pricing information. We decided to contract with his company, and his crew came out precisely on time on the agreed upon date. Frank and Mark were very professional, friendly, and did an exemplary job removing all the moldy material carefully. First they built a containment area and put proper ventilation in place to keep the mold from getting in the rest of the house. Then they removed wall studs, insulation, and drywall. They scrubbed, treated, and encapsulated any mold on surfaces that couldn't be removed. They also removed drywall from an upper level closet that was above the basement closet when they discovered the mold problem went all the way up. They gave us some information about where that water was coming from so we could check it out and prevent it from happening again. When they left, the basement was clean, smelled much better, and they didn't leave any debris anywhere. I would absolutely recommend this company and would use them again.

I had a problem with the sewer drain backing up into the basement. Water had ran into other rooms in the basement. I also had a bad smell in the basement. After getting the sewer line cleared, I wanted to check for any mold problems. I called Tom at Certified Mold and he was able to get me on his schedule the next day. Tom was very thorough. Said he didn't see any major mold problem. He didn't try to talk me into having his company do any of the work. In fact he said right away what needed to be done and asked if I had anyone handy around the house that could do this for me. He told me everything that needed to be done and gave me the names of the products I needed to buy and where to get them. Very helpful and pleasant to work with. I would definitely call Tom if I needed any more help with a mold problem.

I can't add any more to what I said above. It went very well overall. Tom was on time and was very friendly and professional. We felt we could believe him right away.

Tom returned my call the same day and agreed to come the following day. He was on time and very personable. He was very knowledgeable and immediately identified the type of bacteria in my basement walls. He had a folder full of information and allowed me to read a newspaper clipping about that particular bacteria. He spent over an hour going through my whole basement looking for the source of the problem and also walked around the house to identify why I was getting wet walls in my basement. He was very knowledgeable and kind; he listened to all my questions and provided detailed answers. He also gave me a few ideas on how to improve things. Tom never tried to sell me expensive treatments or scare me with health concerns. He has a common sense down-to-earth approach. He told me I could do the treatment myself, explained me how to mix the solution and how to apply it. Tom is one of the most professional and kind service people I have ever encountered; he restored my faith in good old fashioned service. I recommend him with my eyes closed.

They looked all over the house and found very little mold. I felt comfortable using them because they did such a thorough job. They showed up on time and were very nice. The technology they used was very up to date. He was very knowledgable about the subject.

I called Mr. Schultz with a suspected mold problem in my basement on the concrete wall. Mr. Schultrz agreed to look at pictures I sent him via email instead of making a house call. This, in itself, saved me the home inspection fee. I was very impressed with the time Mr. Schultz took with me explaining what I had, what I could do to prevent further water damage, and what product to use to remedy my situation. It turned out that there really wasn't much of a mold problem whatsoever. He had some pictures with him that he showed me of bad mold problems in other houses/areas. With his suggestions, I could take care of the problem myself. He could have "taken me to the cleaners," but was so honest and forthright. I would highly recommend him. After all the time he spent with me, he wasn't going to charge me. I sent him a check anyway for his time because I thought it was the only fair thing to do.

The company was professional, punctual, and consciouses about their work. They completed all the jobs on the proposal and even accommodated me as to my specifications to get the best possible result. I would hire them again.

I called Tom at Certified Mold Inspection & Remediation Services on 3/28/2011. He was very helpful over the phone and explained in depth how he tests for mold. We agreed to have him come over to do the test on 4/1/2011. Tom was on time and explained to us in person how he gathered the sample for the mold test. He also took a look in our attic to see if we had any mold growth. Once the test was completed, he told us we would get our results in the next week. We received them via email 3 days later. Overall, Tom was great to work with and we would highly recommend him and his company, Certified Mold Inspection & Remediation Services.

Tom was too busy to come the day I called him, so I waited until Monday when he came first thing in the morning. He was on time and succinct about his thoughts on the situation. I appreciated his professionalism and I will be sure to call him back in the future if needed.

He gave me extensive information over the phone and advised me upfront of the cost of the inspection. He was not at all pushy nor did I feel that he was pressuring me to have the inspection done. He advised me on excellent Internet resources so I was fully informed before he came out for the inspection. He was thorough and professional and offered information on how to solve the problem in the most economical but appropriate way. He did not try to "sell me" on any services that he did not think I needed. I now feel that I can proceed with a solution to my problem that is based on sound advise and his expertise in the field. Although there was a charge for the inspection, I am certain that he saved me hundreds, if not thousands of dollars. The fee was worth every penny.

I spoke with Tom to discuss my mold issues and he offered so much helpful advice I couldn't be more thankful. With all the bad contractors out there it's nice to know there are people like Tom who aren't trying to rip you off and scare you into doing more than you need to do.

The inspection and mold testing was performed in a thorough manner. Tom's advice and tips on cleaning the mold from the affected area was clear, concise and to the point. I will call him again in future should I come across a similar problem in our basement.

I had a water leak in 2 areas in my home. Once the drywall was removed and the mold was evident, I called Tom. He responded quickly and was very professional.

We called Tom when our home inspection of our new home turned up mold in the attic and garage. He gave us much needed advice on options for treating the problem and preventing it from reoccurring that ended up making us comfortable enough to proceed with the purchase of a great property. When I mentioned that we might be doing roofing work on the property, Tom suggested ways that he could work with the roofing company address much of the mold problem during the re-roofing and give him easier access to the remaining areas. That ended up both saving us money and making us happier with the remediation plan. When we had a couple follow up concerns after the initial work was done Tom was responsive usual and quickly addressed it and answered our remaining questions. Throughout the process he was focused on making sure we were happy with the service.

Excellent. I got 5 bids, Tom's was very competitive. He gave good advice on how to PREVENT the problem from occurring again, rather then covering it up. He strikes me as very honest and very professional. The cleaning was thorough, used plastic and vacuumed and cleaned up well afterwords. If you have a mold problem I'd strongly suggest getting multiple bids and have Tom be one of them.

He inspected the house and landscaping. He provided suggestions for how to prevent dampness in the basement and gave me instructions on how to clean up some minor mold problem areas myself along with product recommendations. He gave me some landscaping and duct cleaning referrals if I decided to go that route. He offered to do the clean up work, but the scale of it was something I could perform myself.

He arrived promptly, assessed my situation, addressed my questions, and provided a reference to a carpet cleaner. In the end, we determined this was a small enough project I could do it myself. His knowledge and straightforward assessment were invaluable.

From start to finish, Tom was very professional and explained the process in layman's terms. It went very smoothly. He got back to me in a few days with lab results and a full written report. He was 15 minutes late, but called to tell me he was stuck in traffic. No big deal -- once he got to my house he was all business. Overall good experience.
