All of the technicians who came to our house were friendly and prompt. They gave us estimates that were accurate. They were reasonable about charging for service calls (for example, the tech who came to fix the water softener didn't charge the full service call fee because the fridge guy had already looked at the water softener on his earlier visit). They were thorough, working hard to identify the problems and leaving the space as clean as they found it. Overall, we're very happy with the service we received.
Description of Work: We had four different service calls recently: to repair our fridge (took two calls because a part needed to be ordered), to install a new dishwasher that we purchased from them, and to repair our water softener.

Tony's is very satisfactory. In fact, the first time they came out they did not think the leak was coming from the water heater and did not try to replace it. When the problem occurred again they deducted the first visit from the 2nd and then replaced the water heater. They are a local business and all of our dealings with them have been satisfactory. They have fixed our dishwasher in the past and have ordered a replacement drawer for the refrigerator. All of those interactions have been fantastic.

I was very happy with Tony's. We have had bad experiences in the past with appliance repair and chose Tony's based on Angies list comments. The whole service experience was a class act. Next day appointment was offered, came on time, was very professional and said in good faith couldn't recommend repairing the unit. We will use Tony's again.
Description of Work: Freezer section of fridge was no longer cooling correctly on 12yr old Kenmore unit. Unit was inspected and determined that cost of repairs would be more than the cost of a new comparable unit.

They won't make service calls to Golden Valley or Minneapolis, so we did not use them.

Overall, I am pleased with the service preformed and the promptness of their response. The cost is probably competetive, although the first time, I was only charged for the time and travel. The repair man who came the second time, didn't check the fuses until I suggested it.
Description of Work: this is the second time I have had Tony's Appliance out to repair my electric clothes dryer. Both times, they came the same day. The first time, the problem turned out to be a fuse that I had not gotten screwed in tight enough. The charge was about $65. The second time, the heating element was broken and, again, a fuse was not screwed in far enough. The repair man told me the problem with the fuses is that the sockets are old, brittle and chipped. He recommended getting an electrician to replace the fuse boxes with circut breakers. He ordered a replacement heating element and will probably install it tomorrow (2 days after his first call).

Ice maker stopped working. Called Tonys and they were able to diagnose the issue over the phone. Ordered the part and installed it in a matter of days. Very good service and good price.

I saw an add for a refrigerator on Craigslist and called to inquire about it. It seem very well priced and was new. I asked them to hold it and drove to the store. Upon arriving i was shown the refrigerator and the minor flaws were pointed out. I agreed to purchase it. Once it was paid for Tony and two of his employees help load it. Tony was on his hands and knees make sure it was packed well for the ride. This was a very small purchase but I was treated like I have just purchase an entire house of appliances. If you want old time service and a good price I would recommend Tony's

A fan in my refrigerator went out so it was not cooling properly. I called Tony's and they came out very quickly. Called at 8:00 am and someone was here by 8:30. He looked at it for about 10 minutes & knew what the problem was. He had to leave to get the correct part for the fix. He returned about 30 min later with the part and installed it. That was it. I called a day earlier to learn how they charge for service and I must have been a bit misunderstood. I was under the impression that if they came out to see what was wrong the travel charge went towards the repair cost, instead it was added to the labor. I was a bit confused about that and felt like I was mislead, but still tis fixed and wasn't very expensive.
Description of Work: Replaced a fan in the freezer that sends cold air to the refrigerator.

Oven install: they used a short line and when I contacted Tony's to ask for switch to longer line they wanted to charge additional. I said no thanks I will take care of it myself, not wanting to spend even more money than I already had. My contractor wound up reinstalling the oven and microwave to my satisfaction. KitchenAid quality is good. Love the oven and cooktop; temp controls and features are very good. Very expensive dishwasher is not as quiet as I thought I was paying for, but okay. I also shopped the big appliance stores and could have saved money there but I usually try to work with smaller independent shops that would both sell and service their products. After Tony's response re: the gas line, I would say I could have easily bought at Sears or Lowes.
Description of Work: Salesperson Sammy helped me shop for new appliance suite for remodel. Initially chose options from several mfgs but when I returned to store and wanted to switch to matching KitchenAid, Sammy was patient and helpful. Delivery was fairly prompt. I would give Sammy an A for sales, delivery a B, repair inquiries a C, retail shop/displays a C (they don't have very many models on the floor).

The tech was nice enough,but I thought $85 for 20 minutes work was too expensive.
Description of Work: Our electric dryer wasn't working very well. It turned out it was just a clogged vent. The tech looked over the dryer for us, cleaned the vent and was here about 20 minutes.

I was able to get an appointment within a couple of hours. Spry arrived and examined the machine and informed me that the spin cycle was working. He also said that the Elite models do not spin well with one item in them; a unique issue with this model. So he cleaned out the machine and removed some pieces of junk from the drain system which could have caused problems later. Overall I was pleased with my service.
Description of Work: I thought my spin cycle was not working on my Kenmore Elite washing machine.

Great. They did a complete check of the dryer and how it was working and found no problems. Gave suggestions on ways to cut down the heat and told us this was normal with this type of Admiral dryer.
Description of Work: They checked to make sure our dryer was working after we experienced it getting very hot in front of the machine.

The experience overall was positive. They sent someone out the same day I called (for the first visit), then when it was determined that the first guy couldn't fix the problem, they offered to send someone the next day. I did have to pay for two separate service calls, and I'm not entirely sure why it had to be done in two visits--it seems likely that a dryer might have a slow drying time due to lint build-up or other obstruction in the venting, so why couldn't the first guy check both the dryer and the venting? I guess it's two different specialties. At any rate, they charged me less than the estimate for the second visit once they determined what a simple fix it was. The C grade for punctuality was because I was given a two hour window, and at the end of the window I hadn't heard from anyone, so I had to call and check. They were on their way and arrived about 15-20 minutes after the window. (I HATE those windows that service companies give!)
Description of Work: My dryer had a long drying time. In two visits, they checked the dryer, determined that it was working fine, then checked the vent and discovered a screen that was clogged with lint. (Kudos to the guy who climbed on my garage roof, which is where the dryer vents to!)

He was quick and efficient. Told me that I could credit part of the cost of the service call to the purchase of a new washer. We purchased elsewhere.
Description of Work: Washer was not working. Repairmen came and evaluated the problems. Said there were two problems and, as it turned out, it was more than the washer was worth. The washer was about 15 years old.

BEN, THE FIRST TECH, WAS EFFICIENT AND POLITE. HE CALLED THE MAYTAG SERVICE LINE, DID DIAGNOSTIC WORK AND ORDERED THE NECESSARY PARTS. SAM, THE SECOND TECH, ALSO WORKED QUICKLY AND TREATED ME WELL. AFTER A DISAPPOINTING EXPERIENCE WITH ANOTHER COMPANY ON 7/27 TO PURCHASE A DISHWASHER THAT I WAS TOLD WAS IN STOCK AND WOULD RECEIVE ON 8/1 (WRONG!) -- I WENT TO TONY'S APPLIANCES IN BURNSVILLE ON 7/30. ALTHOUGH THE SALESPERSON DIDN'T ACT LIKE THIS SALE WAS GOING TO MAKE OR BREAK HER COMMISSION EARNINGS, SHE WAS POLITE AND NOT OVERBEARING. I KNEW WHAT TYPE OF WASHER I WANTED (THANKS TO WS). I ENDED UP WITH NOT ONLY THE DISHWASHER, BUT ALSO AN ELECTRIC RANGE. BOTH WERE DELIVERED ON 8/1 AND THE INSTALLERS WERE VERY POLITE AND ON TIME.
