Description of Work: When in the store employees are very friendly and helpful. We had 2 chairs restored and they did a very nice job but finally getting the finished product was very challenging. When we picked out the fabric for the chairs we were told it would be 3 to 4 weeks before they were done. We made numerous call to check on the status of our ordered and when they were finally ready 6 weeks had past. We went to picked up the chairs only to discover they did not add the tacks around on seat base on one of the chairs as we had requested. We were told to take the finished chair with us and that the other chair would be finished in two days. Four days later a message was left to give them a call, they had questions about how the tacks were supposed to be placed. We then had to send pictures of what the chair looked like before it was restored to show where the tacks were previously and 10 days later we were told it was finally completed. To be fair, we were told that they had a lot of their staff out with the flu during this time and things were rather unorganized because of it. Also, they do excellent work. It would just be nice to get realistic time estimates and better communication when there are issues with scheduling.

Description of Work: They re-caned a chair seat and matched the enamel paint. They did an excellent job and we brought in another chair that needed a new seat. It took a long time to work on the chair, but the work had to be exacting.

Description of Work: They refused to visit my home to provide an estimate - even though the potential project cost was sizable (recover two chairs, six leather couch cushions, and a loveseat). Insisted that I had to email photos to them. Still haven't had chance to forward photos. Haven't received a refund of my prepayment. |0 for 2 on these deals through Angie's List. What a waste of my time and money.

Description of Work: After giving a detailed description of the work I needed done, type of couch, etc. over the phone, I was given a verbal estimate of $400-600. When someone came and gave a written estimate, he quoted $800. This was too big of a difference, so I went elsewhere.

Description of Work: Rehabbed the upholstered seat and head rest cushions and refinished the arms of an antique rocking chair. The end result is beautiful, thought the cost was high.

Description of Work: They restored my Grandmothers 103 year old dresser. It is so beautiful. We changed the color and they worked very hard to get the old red stain out of the wood. They had me come in twice to view the progress and insure I was happy with the color. I am so pleased with their work they are now restoring her Singer sewing machine. I would not trust anyone else to work on precious antiques.

Description of Work: They fixed a really broken antique chair. We can hardly tell. It went well I think and the price wasn't bad especially after the coupon from Angie's list. We took more chairs there to be fixed. Plan ahead it takes a couple weeks.

Description of Work: Picked up, repaired caning and returned two antique chairs. The turned out beautifully!

Description of Work: My parents' 1940's corner cabinet needed some repair work that appeared rather tricky to us. The wooden grid in front of a glass door had become warped and a piece of the wood from the grid had popped out and was missing. Ackerman's has a talented wood carver that replicated the missing piece and was able to stain the wood to match the old cabinet. They also fixed a several nicks and a side panel that was coming loose. |The cabinet now looks like it did 15 years ago when my parents gave the cabinet to me. We did not have the entire piece refinished because we liked the color the cabinet had attained over the years. Everyone in the family that has seen the cabinet since the repairs has been extremely pleased with the repair work and we would certainly recommend this company. I also want to mention that everyone from the company was pleasant to work with and treated our home and furniture with respect.

Description of Work: I inherited a coffee table. Being a guy, I thought it was fine even nice. Turns out it is a beautiful mahogany coffee table. Back in 1985 or so I had friends over to watch a football game. We ordered pizza. My dear friend Marty put the hot pizza box on the table. I thought nothing of it. A week later when I went to clean up after the party, I noticed the enormous white stain on the nice coffee table. Turns out the table got a bit steamed via the pizza. I figured it was just in the finish and someday I'd get it refinished. Someday came 27 years later thanks to Ackerman's. Guess what. I discovered I have a beautiful mahogany coffee table!
