My sister, Barbara-Ann March pulled four of these AOPi chairs from a dumpster behind the U of MN Tau chapter sorority house in the 1970’s. Forty-five years later Ackerman’s Furniture Service did a fantastic job restoring them for us! Their craftsmen are so meticulous … real pros. They told me it would be about one-tenth the price for me to just because the spring and do it myself they had the spring and they did it myself while standing

It went extremely well. I would highly recommend Ackerman's should someone ever need furniture or in this case a cabinet door repaired or stained.

Excellent. These were cushions from an old couch and I was not sure if they would be repairable. Ackerman's needed to hand stitch the seams and the cushions look great. Prompt, excellent service.

Ackerman's price for the recaning was twice what I could have it done for elsewhere, so I didn't give them those two chairs to do. Their price for improving the appearance of the bentwood armchair, and adding padding to the seat, seemed high but I agreed to let them do it. I was satisfied with the result on the bentwood chair.

I am very pleased with the results. My chairs look brand new. They were very professional and answered all our questions. As soon as we picked our fabric they arranged to pick up our chairs. It took 4 weeks to get them done. They frequently updated us during that time. They were on time for pickup and delivery. Would definitely recommend.

They're excellent! They've been around since the late 19th century. It's a family business.

Ackerman's picked up my chair from my home. Convenient (for me!). I went to the shop and looked at fabric. Actually I only looked at one fabric and chose it immediately. They returned my chair on Friday Feb. 12. I basically could not believe how great the chair looked. Every bit of the chair was beautifully done. Just fantastic and I'm very pleased. I will most certainly use Ackerman's in the future. Everyone I dealt with was excellent.

My wife arranged with Bill to repair a spring on our couch and have it back to us in time for family to come in to town for thanksgiving. Bill quoted $150 (give or take depending on the time) which we thought was super reasonable. They asked if we could drop it off but agreed to pick it up from us for a delivery fee of $150 (a little expensive but we thought reasonable to save us a trip as we live in golden valley. We made arrangements for next day pickup. The driver gave us a window and said he'd call 30 minutes out so I could leave work to come home. Fast forward to next day.... I get a call saying they are at my house asking how quickly can I show up (with no notice). I rush home and then the gentleman comes looks at the couch and says it'll be $450. W**... I explain that my wife spoke with bill and he calls the shop. Bill proceeds to tell the driver that he told my wife he was doing her a favor at $150 but that was dependent on her picking it up (calling my wife a liar). I then explained how that made no sense as we agreed to pay a delivery fee to compensate them which shouldn't have any impact on the work done to the couch. The driver told me there was nothing he was willing to do and said the prices are what they are. Lesson learned: don't believe their quotes, they'll under quote and charge you significantly more ($550 total vs the $300) we agreed. They won't admit they goofed in the estimate and will call you a liar. I'm just glad I didn't drop of the couch because then they would have held my couch hostage and I'd have had to pay who knows what. This was a very disappointing experience and one of the worst I've had on Angie's List. I'm sure they'll write up a pithy response but if I save one person from being gouged like I almost was then I'll feel great. Please use someone who charges a fair price, owns up to their estimates, and doesn't call their potential customers liars within earshot.

The only thing good about this experience was the promptness of the estimate. *Update* The provider's response is reflective of their customer service.

Wonderful! I had an extremely old mahogany antique desk that needed some small repairs and to be refinished. John Ackerman came out to my house promptly, discussed the project and answered all my questions. He took the desk to the shop and there it was hand-stripped (a major plus!), repaired, prepped, and restained. The desk looks fantastic! It was completed in the time frame that John gave me, and was delivered to my home. I would not hesitate to use Ackerman's again! In fact, I have several other pieces that need to be repaired and refinished, including my coffee table and a dining room table. I will be using Ackerman's for these projects too.

It was fine. They got the job done over several weeks as they were busy but that was fine with us. The workers were all fine.

I have several pieces of my Grandparents furniture that need repair &/or refinishing. John came to the house to give me estimates. He was very knowlegeable about the items, & gave me some different options for the repairs. If I decide to go ahead with the other projects, I will definitely go back to Ackerman's. They are so helpful & personable, but also professional.

I inherited a small Lane chest that had a quite a few nicks and needed a new coat of black lacquer paint. They smoothed out the nicks, painted it, and reinstalled the hardware. They even installed new handles on the spot, which I had purchased and brought with me when I picked up the chest. I was able to purchase a deal through Angie's List, which made the work affordable for me and definitely helped select this vendor over others. I would definitely use them again, now that I have seen their work on my item and others in their "showroom".

We dropped off the chair pads on a busy Saturday and the time given for finishing was 4-6 weeks. It was just under 4 weeks, which made us happy, being it was Christmas in two weeks. We couldn't be more thrilled with the finished product. It looks and feels great! We purchased a Big Deal - which helped in bringing the cost down.

The overall price was gonna be higher than what I wanted to pay so I did not use the deal.

Ackerman's did a very nice job of adding a cedar lining to an old (approx. 100 years old) steamer trunk. The inside of the trunk is like new now.

Ackerman's did a beautiful job of reupholstering our love seat. Many, many fabrics to choose from, picked up our love seat, finished within the time quoted, reasonably priced, friendly service, convenient location and excellent quality. These are seasoned professionals!
