This is a FALSE review. Our repair time is 1 to 3 days for most repairs. Major repairs such as a chandelier repair may take 1 to 2 weeks. Metal restoration takes 4 to 6 weeks. This person has confused us with another company. Please read our other reviews.

Description of Work: They fixed the switch on an old Tiffany lamp I received as a Christmas present from my brother many years ago. I thought $25 was a little steep, but worth it, especially since the lamp has sentimental value. They were nice and it was done very quickly - about 20 minutes.

After searching Angie's List for a lamp mender I came across these Ladies. I brought my antique light fixture in for them to look at & get a quote. They were lovely on the phone & even better in person! The quote was a little more than I wanted to spend but it was a real time consuming & complex fix. The Ladies walked me through the steps & sold me all the materials I needed at a very good price. I'm looking forward to doing the project & surly will go to them again! A real pleasure to have met them both! Thank you!!
Description of Work: I brought in an old fixture to be rewired to the Ladies & were so helpful! The quote was a little over what I wanted to spend so they went through the steps & sold me the materials I needed to do the job.

I brought in an old lamp that wouldn't stay lit. The socket needed replacement and I intended to leave it and return when it was finished. However, the first question that I was asked was "Do you want it fixed now and you can wait for it?" That was a perfect solution!! The lamp was repaired in about 15 minutes and it took me about 30 minutes to decide upon a shade. I walked out as a very happy customer! Being able to wait for the repair was wonderful!! Very professional and knowledgeable.

Description of Work: They repaired 2 "family treasure" lamps, they were not antiques but are important to us. They made the repairs so the lamps retained the style of the 50s and the nostalgic look. The work was completed promptly and they even helped me select replacement lampshades that complemented the look of the lamps.

I found them on Angie's List, I brought in three lamps, two stained glass lamps I got inexpensively and a floor lamp I inherited. Two didn't work at all, the third was getting a hot cord when it was on. All the cords were replaced with cords of the same size, type and length. In retrospect I wish I had asked for two of the lamps with mid-cord switches to have been replaced with different sockets that had integrated switches. I will likely take them back one day for that replacement. It was very inexpensive, and I my peace of mind is restored as I don't have to always check the cord on the lamp to be sure it's not getting overly hot. I ought to have done this sooner, and would recommend this shop. A tip I didn't know when I went: leave the shades at home. Though it made sense once I got there (why would they need the shade?) I didn't even think of it and was embarassed when they asked me to take the shades with me.

The two gals working there (owners?) were very friendly and took care of our lamp right away since we live way across town. They commented the 3-way part is always very cheap in lamps and the often break or catch fire. They said the one they were putting in would last the life of the lamp. The repair was very inexpensive and the lamp has been working fine ever since. We have been meaning to bring back two other lamps with the same problem, but we rarely get to the south side of town. I would definitely recommend them for any type of lamp repair.

They had excellent customer service. They let me select from a big variety of different types of knobs that are put on the lamp to turn it on and off. They were very helpful and they were able to locate exactly what I wanted. It was done when it was promised to be done. It's worked and there is no problem. I still have it. I would use them in the future if I wanted.

I took a treasured antique lamp to their store for repair. I wasn't sure what was wrong with the lamp. They quickly diagnosed that one of the sockets had burned out. They told me that it would take 1 to 3 days. I left the lamp and returned to my office. They called me within an hour to inform me that the lamp was fixed and ready to be picked up. Needless to say, I was quite surprised and pleased with the responsiveness. The lamp was perfect. In addition, the lady provided me with a little bit of history regarding the style of the lamp telling me that it was a Jeffersonian lamp. I would highly recommend these professionals to anyone needing lamp repair or advice.

We brought the 'almost new' lamp in because the bulb socket was loose, they immediately recognized the problem and said it could be a fire hazard; the lamp was repaired while we waited. A couple weeks later we brought in our Stiffel lamps, they gave an estimate and said it could be five-six days before they were repaired, which was fine with us. Two days later we received a call saying the lamps were ready and we were so pleased when picking them up - they look like new and work great!
Description of Work: Repair of a six-month old lamp ... it was sold below standard, they repaired according to safety standards for $15.00. Repair of 28-year old Stiffel lamps. They took lamps apart for cleaning, cleaned the small glass globes (they just sparkle), tightened one lamp and replaced a switch.

The lamp pole was stripped at the base causing the lamp to continually tip over. Using Angie's list found these people in Bloomington and sent them an e/mail. Within a hour they responded with their store hours and location. Three hours after dropping off the lamp it was fixed. Nice people, nice job, fair price.

Rather than buy a new lamp, I decided to replace the broken shade on an old one. I took it to Lamp Mender and the two women who own and operate the shop helped me pick out a new more complementary shade along with some new hardware, which in turn allowed me to use a larger shade making the lamp more attractive. Lamp Mender has repaired and replaced the sockets in several other lamps for me in the past. You can also purchase almost any type of lamp and if they don't have a shade to your liking, you can order one custom made. They are also a good source for every size light bulb, finial, and etc. The proprietors also spent quite a bit of time educating me on how to choose a good light bulb as all bulbs are not equal. The shop is owned and operated by two women who do most of their own repair work and much of their own restoration work. They re knowledgeable, helpful, and always pleasant. I highly recommend them.
Description of Work: I needed a new lampshade for a ten year old rather unattractive lamp. The two women who own and operate the shop helped me pick out a new more complementary shade along with some new hardware that allowed me to use a larger shade, which in turn made the lamp more suitable for reading. They also assisted me in purchasing the correct size/wattage light bulbs for other lamps and appliances.
