Description of Work: This is my first review on Angie's List. I purchased a home in July 2014 that had a previously installed sprinkler system. Looking for a high quality irrigation service provider on Angie's List, I found Mr. Rain who have earned the Angie's List Super Service Award for 9 years running. I didn't see anyone else who even came close to that in our area, so they seemed like a good place to start. (If I had to guess, based on my experience, I imagine they will make it 10 this year.) I made a call to the office and got through to a delightful woman who scheduled me in for a winterization appointment in two weeks when it was convenient for me to be home. I wanted to be there to talk to the technician and learn about my new system, but they would have done the winterization without me being there as well. | |The technician who turned up, Luke, happened to be one of the owners of the company! I explained to him that we had just had an incident where TruGreen had just come out unscheduled (the previous homeowner had paid for the service) and aerated our lawn without us having a chance to mow or mark the sprinkler heads. I was worried that we may have had some damage to heads or the pipes running near to the surface from the aerator spike. TruGreen had apologized and said they would pay for any damage. Luke did a complete survey of all of our zones inspecting each sprinkler head. He found one small hole in a pipe which could have been a problem caused by TruGreen, but it was by no means a clear rupture from an aerator. He also found some of the sprinkler heads were failing, most likely just due to age. He could have replaced these heads and the pipe and recharged TruGreen, but he did not think it would be the right thing to do. He left it up to me to decide how I wanted to proceed. I was impressed at his integrity, a quality which I think is becoming more and more rare. I decided not to charge TruGreen for what was not clearly their fault. | |Luke suggested that we wait until the Spring to do any work. His reasoning: Why put the heads through an extra Minnesota winter? The heads that need replacing are near to the curb and they can often be damaged by snowplows during heavy snow (anyone remember winter 2013-14?). | |I found that Mr. Rain are not the cheapest, but they ARE competitive on pricing. If you already have a high quality irrigation service provider, more power to you. If you have been getting by with someone who seems not quite up to snuff, do yourself a favor and call Mr. Rain. With service like this, they will earn my business for a long time to come. I have recommended them to one neighbor who already has a system, and another who wants to install one next year.

Description of Work: I called them because our home was struck by lightning and our irrigation system was damaged. They not only came within hours of my call, our service person replaced the damaged parts and got our system up and running within a couple of hours. We did not expect that the repairs could be made so quickly! We chose the company because of the Angie's List rating and will continue to use them for our irrigation needs.

Description of Work: When we received notice to schedule the winterizing of our sprinkler system with close to a 25% increase in price, I contacted neighbors to see if they'd be interested in contracting with a company as a group and preferred rate. Checking Angie's List, I discovered a well-rated company nearby. They offered us an excellent price along with quality service -- a great way to do business.
