Description of Work: Ron & Billy inspected all aspects of the well, pump, and tank, cleaned/shocked the well, replaced the well pump and pipe, and gave me Tons of great information. If you look at my other ratings, I don't give a lot of A's.. but I think these guys deserve it. They really did give tons of great information as they worked and answered all my questions. I didn't have anyone else look at my well, but I did get a phone estimate from one other which was a lot higher in price. I wouldn't use anyone else.

Description of Work: The estimates did not arrive in my e-mails after I gave the details of the jobs. I also checked the spam. I don't know what happened. That was the worst, but once I called and asked about the estimates due about two weeks previously, Jody again quickly sent e-mails with the information. I obtained estimates for my Dad's well sealing and my more complicated and time-consuming project. My well had been out of commission for over 20 years and since the law requires the well in this city to be sealed when selling, I waited no longer. | |Well sealing permits needed for both jobs and reports will be given to the legal entities and sent to owners. My pump and tank needed to be removed and inspection of the casing. Also, the electrical supply needed to be terminated, so they needed to find the right breaker which took some trial and error. A truck access to help clear the well, a access hole made in the step, cement sealed the 3"well and repair to the step was completed. I asked some questions and they were patient in explanation. Good clean-up. Family-friendly and professional. Ron and Billy did a great job!

Response from MORK WELL CO INC
Member, Our sincere appologies! We have been unusually busy this month due to the storms putting business, farms and residents out of water and have had to prioitize by need as the calls come in. We have been asking everyone when they call if their requests needs to be completed by a certain date and those that said no deadline did have to wait a bit for us to get back to them. For yours, in the meantime, we called the MN Dept of Health to get information on the surrounding wells that have been sealed by your address to get you some prices right away which we were calling you with, because we knew it would be a couple of days before we could schedule an onsite estimate. Again our appologies for any inconvenience this may have caused.

IThe price I paid was slightly higher because of the distance they had to travel (over 60 miles). However, they were professional, knowledgeable and prompt. The tech spent a lot of time looking at other systems in the house and gave me advise as to living with a well and septic system as this was all new to me. I had the tech come out again a few months later to repair a cracked sewer line. The price was inexpensive which surprised me. I have nothing but good things to say about this company. I would utilize their services again without question. The price I quoted for both services is an approximation as I can't remember the exact numbers. I do remember that it was much lower than I expected.

I came home at noon to find no water in the house. After ruling out easy fixes over the phone, Mork put me on the schedule. There was no useful sense of what that might mean except that it would be "same day."The truck arrived at 5 and work finished at 8:30 PM. The crew seemed experienced and professional. Be aware that Mork asks for a credit card number to secure your service call. However, paying with a credit card adds 3 % to the bill.

Member, Thank you for your feedback and your patience, it is greatly appreciated as we are always lookiing for ways to improve. Leaving customers with the "WOW" effect is always our goal. Your "out of water" call was the last of many that day. Yours took 3.5 hours, some can take only an hour. We don't know until we are on site and able to diognose the problem and even then we can run into complications. Which is why do our best to inform customers of the current situation and explain why cannot give an exact time, but a "hopefully" around time. Our crews worked hard that day and felt good that they were able to get to everyone and leave them all back up & running with water again. We do secure payment as many businesses do these days and have alot of customers like yourself take advantage of our "discounted" cash pricing. We really appreciate having had the opportunity to work on your well system and appologise for any inconvience the lack of a "set" time may have caused you. Thank you for your business and please feel free to contact us at any time you have any questions or concerns.

I had first hired Lens Well & Pump company to repair my well. All They did was complain about the location of the well how muddy it was how close to the lake it was etc. But they did manage to bill me for 5hrs labor and did absolutely nothing to repair the well. They said they would have to come back after the area dried out. Meanwhile I HAVE NO WATER!!! They should have billed me for their complaining they could have charged allot more! I hired Mork Well Company on the advice of my neighbor who had them repair her well several years earlier. They came right out i showed them the location of the well, they saw how close the lake was and they saw that the area was muddy. I said this would not be a fun job. They said they have seen and worked in worse conditions. They also said what mattered was that i needed water What ever it took i would have water that day. Wow what a great attitude!! They dug up the pipe replaced it with a new piece of pipe with a new pitless unit installed on it. Then they put in a new pump and i had running water. In 5-1/2 hrs i had running water! These guys came prepared to do the job, not only with the tools required but with the attitude required. Highly recommend
Description of Work: Hired these guys to repair my well that had quit working. The problem was in the pitless adapter 8 feet underground, it was all rusted and would not come apart the pump had also quit working. They would have to dig down and replace the top 8 foot section of pipe and install a new pitless adapter and then install a new pump.

The price was fair based upon other quotes. The install was completed in an acceptable amount of time. The quality of the water was terrible, that was something I was prepared to deal with since they cannot guarantee the quality of the water. The well was only drilled to approx. 75 feet. Minimum price is for 100 feet. After 5 years, the well was pumping dry - I kept running out of water. I called the company for service. They sent someone out and tried several things, eventually pulling and cleaning the screen. They charged me approx. $500. One year later the well was pumping dry again. I called a different company this time and showed them all of my paperwork and went through what was done and when. He determined my pressure tank was now bad too. Also, on my paperwork from Mork, they documented I had a 230 VAC pump, I do not. After sorting out my options, I decided to have the new company put in a new well and pressure tank. Very dis-satisfied with Mork Well Co., wells should typically be a once in a lifetime purchase. I would not recommend them.

Response from MORK WELL CO INC
Total spent with our company to date: $6, 545.69. We installed a new well in August of 2005 for $5,445.25. Included in that price was an upgrade of 55' of line shooting that they preferred over digging lines in with the excavator. Installed at the time of drilling was a Red Jacket 1/2 hp 230V pump that was documented and recorded with the State of Minnesota. Typical for this industry is a "Base Price" which includes "up to 100' of drilling" (as stated on our bids) if the neighboring wells in the area are around that depth or shallower otherwise it is priced on acctual footage expected. The base price is the minimum we can drill a well for. For this price we can drill up to 100' before additional expenses incur for the customer. Base price includes trips to meet with the customer, site inspection, permit, use of Drill Rig, Water Truck, hauling and use of Excavating Equipment, fuel, 2 days on site with labor and materials, water testing along with paperwork filings and reports. We hit the first sufficient water supply source at 75'. It is hard to say at what depth we would have hit the next one. If we continued to drill to get the full 100' there may not have been water there. August 2005, we sealed an existing well for a 25% discounted price of $428.44 Water Quality: Unfortunately we cannot control the quality of the water in the aquafer that is in the owners land, the water is already existing. We are hired to drill to it and bring it into the building. It is also impossible to stop the drilling process and test the water while we are drilling. The rule of thumb is to take the first sufficient water supply source as drilling beyond that would result in additional costs. We do, however, drill deeper to the next aquafer if that is what the customer instructs us to do. It is possible that a deeper aquafer would produce a better water quality, but sometimes it can be worse. Talking to neighbors closest to you and knowing the depth of their well and quality of their water is a good resource. Two weeks after the well was completed we returned because we received an "Out of Water" call. We replaced parts at our cost that were damaged because the pump had been wired incorrectly by the homeowner causing the pump to over heat to the point of causing the drop pipe to fall off. "We recommend an electrician". Total for that invoice was $227.00. We do have a one year warranty including labor on our systems. Tampering with the system by someone other than a Mork Well employee can void the warranty. Exceptions to this would be an experienced licensed electrician to do the hook up. The well worked to expectation for the next 5 years. We next received a phone call in may of 2010 stating that the pressure was low. As the well system is comprised of many components that at any time can fail due to anything from age, environmental stresses, water quality to a manufactures defect. We do a thourogh diognosis to determine the cause, if one is not evident we discuss options with the customer. In this case it seemed the screen was a possibility. We then blew the well out with air and cleaned out the screen and made sure everything was again, in good working order when we left. 3.5 hours labor and equipment, the total for this came to $445.00. This is the last communication we had on this well. Tanks can go bad at any time and even in the first 7 years, which is why there is a 7 year parts warranty on them. Had we been called out and found the the tank was bad, it would have been replaced under warrany. If there were still issues we would have diognosed those and repaired those as well had we been called. However, on this comment I did not read of any further issues with the well. We can only assume the drilling of a new well was in hopes of getting better water quality. We repair wells older than 45 years old if they are repairable. This one to date would only have been 6 years old. The is no documentation determining that the well went dry, only certain conditions (which we repaired) that caused there to be "No Water" coming from the well or reduced pressure. A bad tank would result in either no water or low pressurel. Water Wells can last up to 40-45 years depending on how corrosive the water is and the effect it has on the materials in the system. We have been in business since 1945 and our experience is that, a typical homeowner situation of someone who stays in their original home usually has a well drilled twice in their lifetime. In looking over everything, we are not sure what we could have done different to make for a more satisfactory experience. We do like take the opportunity to explain things or try to remedy a situation when customers call with questions or concerns and gives us the opportuity to do so.

The top of our well was at grade level. Code calls for it to be at least 12 inches above grade. Had Mork Well extend the pipe based on recommendations of three friends and the Angies List report. Serviceman arrived at the appointed time and did a professional job. He was also most helpful with other well oriented questions and helped me chlorinate the well. I highly recommend using them.

When our water quit running, I checked the well pressure tank and the switch. The capacitor was hot and smelled, so I assumed it had died like it did a couple years back. I called Mork Well because their sticker was on the box and they had been here the last time. The man came out and checked the box and found the problem at the pump. He surmised that the lightening strike, which is why they were out the last time, had finally had it's affect. He checked the wiring at the top of the pipe, pulled up the pump, and found out he was right. He quoted the price of a new pump, replaced it in an hour or so, and we had water again. When he was down by the pressure tank he had noticed the remains of a sandpoint well in the basement and expressed concerns that it had been sealed correctly. When he got back to the office he looked it up and called me back to confirm that they had done it and everything was clear. That was "over and above".
