Description of Work: I am a contractor and after dealing with 5 HVAC guys over the years I think I found one I can work with. I have known this company for over a decade but finally decided to give them a shot after seeing their reviews, I couldn't have been happier. Their hourly rate is a little higher than the average but they had all the tools necessary, which in the long run saves money.

+ -1 moreI called for an appointment because I was so pleased with their work when I had them install a new furnace and A/C several years ago. They answered immediately and responded within a quick time period. The tune up was completed professionally and then checked out my problem with the humidifier. The problem was assessed and a cause for the humidifier's pad and tray failure was attributed to the very pure water that we have in this part of the city. A part was needed to be ordered. They returned within a couple days with the part and quickly installed it.
Description of Work: Furnace Tuneup. Cleaned flame sensor, washed and cleaned the accuclean filter system, checked safety systems. Repaired and replaced humidifier filter tray and pad.

+ 0 moreEverything they do for me is excellent. They explain everything thoroughly and do great work. They were also able to make some recommendations for me that would help with what my home needs. They also did a small job for me free of charge, I wanted to pay but they insisted that it was such an easy job that only took 15 minutes so they did not charge me. They have definitely gone above and beyond my expectations. They do exemplary work every time they come to my home. They really care about their customers satisfaction. I would not go to anyone else! I would recommend them to anyone.
Description of Work: I just moved in to my home about 2 years ago and they originally put in our new gas line for our dryer. I found some condensation on the back end of my furnace on the floor, so they came out to fix that as well. They repaired my downdraught vent behind my kitchen range. They also put in a 4 inch blower in my furnace for me, which was $450. Recently they came to do a A/C unit check and add freon for me as summer is coming up (this is what the price reflects). They also replaced the humidifier that is attached to my furnace as it was calcified and not working properly.

+ 0 moreThe work went very well! We were very pleased with them. They were very responsive with all of their work. With our cook top, the hood had to be installed a certain way in order for everything to work properly and they did a great job!

+ -1 moreI acquired several bids for my furnace replacement and Smith's bid was very competitive, but was not the least expensive (hence the B rating). Yet, the impression that Joel Smith left on me made him the clear choice. Unlike other installers, he performed a thorough heat loss analysis of my house that made me comfortable with the size of furnace that he recommended. Other "eye-ball estimate" installers had suggested differing sizes and choosing the right BTU furnace is a very important component for efficiency and comfort. His friendly staff installed the unit on-time, cleaned the area sufficiently and made themselves available for questions. The main reason for my glowing review is the following. Even though I purchased a Ruud furnace, rated as one of the top brands for reliability, I was one of the few unlucky buyers who did have a significant problem with my furnace. There is little need to have you read every detail of this history, so suffice to say that Joel Smith went beyond any of my past experiences with other contractors to make certain that the problem was solved in-excess of my expectations. They not only replaced numerous parts under warranty in an attempt to rescue the original unit, but in the end, they even negotiated on my behalf with the wholesaler and factory to have my furnace completely replaced with a superior unit under warranty. Needless to say, they will be hearing from me when my turn-of-the-century A/C rolls over. Joel and his staff are simply the most customer-oriented company that I may have ever done business with.

+ -1 moreIt went very smoothly. They were done in about 1.5 days. I had to get a gas line run from the street to the house and they returned and hooked up the new furnace when the line was complete. II'm glad I picked this compant, as the boys are easy to deal with and also do a fine job.
Description of Work: We switched from oil heat to natural gas and also replaced the central air. They installed a new gas manifold for the furnace and for any other gas appliances in the future.

Description of Work: During the hottest part of this past HOT summer, my A/C was dripping condensation onto wood floor of utilities room. Serviceman re-wrapped copper wires in the front of the unit with insulating tape and reinforced existing exterior insulation of duct work. He also cleared the drain from the evaporator tray. In addition, all steps of a normal A/C check up were performed to verify that A/C was in proper working condition.

They arrived on time when they said they would dealt with problems as they arose found needed solutions in a timely manner consulted with other professionals as necessary for our difficult installation (rather than pretend they had all the answers, which I consider the true mark of a professional) AND cleaned up after themselves. All in all you accomplished what you said you would do when you said you d do it at the cost you said you d do it for can t ask for much more.
Description of Work: We decided that since our townhouse had been built in 1984 it was time to replace everything now that we had retired .. BEFORE we started to have problems in the middle of winter .. or while we were out of town. We interviewed several contractors. My husband and I feel we are pretty good judges of character after many years in business .. Joel was not the highest bid nor the lowest but we felt he knew what he was doing AND he was a man of character. That is exactly what he proved to be. The work was done in 2006 .. two years later I can call Joel on the telephone and he is Jonny on the Spot to take care of any adjustment or question I have on our somewhat complicated Heat Pump Furnace/Central Air system or any other thing I may ask! He works all over the Twin Cities .. his Ham Lake address belies his access to work .. don't let that stop you .. this man is a working machine! I am going to place below my thank you note to him after the installation. One thing I especially liked was Joel's confidence in his ability to be able to say "I don't know .. I'll call in the experts.". One issue was because I had researched on the internet and wanted a certain fancy dancy computerized setback thermostat that Joel's computer guy had a question on .. Joel got expert advise .. liked the thermostat so much he said he was going to start using it on other heat pump installations! He has the years of experience and confidence to be able to say "I don't know .. but I'll find the answer." I REALLY liked that .. it really make me feel so confident in the accuracy of the installation process. Two years later we are just delighted with our utility bills with our heat pump!

+ -1 moreIT WAS A GOOD EXXPERIENCE. THE REPAIRMAN WAS ON TIME. HE QUICKLY FOUND THE PROBLEM AND FIXED IT. HE ALSO SAID THE AIR CONDITIONER COULD BE FIXED PERMANENTLY PRETTY INEXPENSIVELY. HE SAID IT DIDN'T NEED TO BE REPLACED.
Description of Work: MY AIR CONDITIONER WAS REFILLED AND INSPECTED. IT WAS FOUND TO BE LEAKING AND HE TOLD ME WHAT TO DO TO FIX IT.
