Description of Work: He was late -- said he messed up his schedule for the day. But once he was here he did an excellent, quick job oiling, replacing some piece, tightening. Sold me an extra opener, which I've been wanting. Door operates very smoothly now.

Description of Work: New rollers on garage door. Oil & replace one hinge. Lighten motor on motor.

Description of Work: When I described the problem over the phone, they thought a gear needed to be replaced. They said they would be out in the AM and I think I was his first stop. It turned out the gear was OK, and just needed some adjusting and lubricant. He was very helpful and explained what maintenance should be done. Door is working fine now.

Description of Work: I needed to replace the PVC weather stripping on my garage door as mine had some rips. I emailed Aker doors (week-end) and Mike called me Monday morning to quote me a price and set up an appointment for Wednesday morning. After thinking a bit, I decided maybe while they were here, could they also "tune up" the door? Mike said it would be no problem as that cost was the minimum to come out ($119.00). Steve came on Wednesday at 9:30 and, after telling me what he would do, proceeded to pull off the old and install the new weather stripping. As I was standing there, I noticed maybe the rubber "Astragal" underneath the door shoudl be replaced also. I asked him and he said he could do that for a slight fee (16.00 plus labor). He pulled it out and asked me if I wouldn't mind helping him pull the the new one on. It was no problem for me as it was just a matter of holding it and gently guiding it along the path. He seemed so appreciative and said it was "so hard to do it by myself." I can't even see how it could be done but he obviously has done it! He looked at the springs and tested them, oiled them a bit and tested the door several times. Told me what to look for once they start to go and also the cost to have that replaced. Overall, a very pleasant and knowledgable guy. It was a nice day and I enjoyed being outside watching some home improvements done by someone who knows what they are doing! I contacted Aker doors as they installed this garage door for me in 2000. They were nice then and still are. I would definitely call them again!
