Description of Work: Had a bathroom remodeled and they did a good job. The employees who came to the house were excellent. There was a leak after they left and they came back and fixed it. No other problems or issues. Another time they did a maintenance check on the furnace, again good work.

Description of Work: We purchased the $275 for $550 in backsplash work from DA Home Improvement in May. We schedule with them in August and they came out to the house to measure and bring samples. The tile that comes with the offer is the plain white, 4 x 4 tile you can buy at home depot for $0.16 each. If we chose our own tile ( and paid for it) we get a $40 credit plus the cost of the offer towards labor. So, this is really a $315 for $275 backsplash offer. After they were at our house, we went to the show room to pick out different tile. Since DA didn't have what we wanted, we went to another tile store. We tried to get the true cost of the work from DA but could not get a firm answer. Also, the original measurements showed about 16 sq. ft. needed. As we got closer to getting the work done, we were told our square footage was really 24.5 sq. ft. I don't know if that was a mistake or a hidden profit center. We also couldn't really get a final cost for the project. Based on all that, plus the Angie's List reviews, we decided to just take a refund. I think the deal as offered is very misleading. I don't think anyone will get the job done for $275. I also don't understand valuing the deal at $550. They are only giving you $40 worth of tile plus $275 worth of labor. I think the $550 value is deceptive. I don't know how good their work is but based on the pre work encounters, I would not trust them to do the work.

Description of Work: The person who came to provide the quote made was more, an explicitly, focused upon up-selling rather than delivering the service that had been purchased. She came with no tiling samples and before we even concluded the backsplash conversation she had discussed replacing our crown molding, tearing out a wall, and redoing tiling throughout our kitchen and bathrooms. Moreover, since this deal is a "loss leader" (term used by organizational rep) it seemed that they intentionally built in minimal flexibility and high costs associated with making even the slightest modification to the Angie's List deal. Upon notification that I had decided not to proceed with this deal, they were extremely professional and went out of their way to ensure that they understood my decision and concerns. They also went out of their way to facilitate my refund process with Angie's List.

Description of Work: I purchased an Angie's List Big Deal for a kitchen backsplash from D A home improvement for $275 (labor and materials) for a kitchen backsplash up to 20sqft. Jackie, a representative from the company came to measure and she gave me several other estimates for other projects that I eventually want completed. I needed 29sqft of kitchen backsplash, so the price increased to $850 and that was including a $2 credit per sq ft for purchasing my own materials ( as stated per the deal). When I called back to find out why 9sqft cost so much more, I was told that the Angie's List deal could not be honored because my measurements were over. I was aware that I would have to pay for the additional 9sqft, but was not aware that I could not get the original 20sqft for the price that I had purchased. All of the other estimates that I was given also seemed very high ($495 to install a bathroom fan, over $6,000 to replace a shower floor and tile the shower walls, etc). Because the couldn't honor the deal for the 20sqft of kitchen backsplash that I purchased, I requested a refund. The office assistants Linda and Monica were both very pleasant to deal with, and the examples of D A's work that I was shown were nice. However, at this time I am not looking for a major remodel, just a few aesthetic improvements, and I think their prices were high.
