Description of Work: We had an old furnace and the a/c was leaking but the furnace was still running. We knew it wasn't efficient, but we needed a/c. so we had the whole unit replaced furnace and a/c unit. Lowest bid but, they put in a fiberglass base instead of cement slab. Very good workers, they worked hard although it was a very hot day. Had one glitch but they came out the very next day and took care of it.

Replacement equipment was installed without issue and at the promised date/time. team was very professional and took the time to explain to me how it functioned together with the furnace for providing air conditioning as well as the benefits of the replacemnt unti over what I had.
Description of Work: DA Mechanical sent a represenattive out to diagnose my issue with my air conditioning not functioning, recommended a proper replacement unit (outside condenser unit had failed) and installed a new (and better) replacement unit.

They weren't really interested in doing lower end repairs. I thought it was interesting they gave me a quote and didn't follow up with it. I never heard from them again.

Description of Work: Contractor came to house to provide quote. Never heard from them again. Got the impression the job was too small to bother with. Unfortunately for them they could not see how much additional work was available, which was pretty obvious since we told them and anyone could see there was a second bath and a kitchen. I just can't get some people. I would have at least likes a call to tell me they were not interested in the job(s). Additionally their initial verbal cost estimate was higher than we wanted to spend and when we discussed our target price the representative indicated it would be tough to do but like I said they never had the courtesy to call.

 + 24 moreThis was a very big project and it required an experienced, imaginative, resourceful, and reputable company to turn our dream into reality. D A Home Improvement, Inc. proved to be more than equal to every challenge. The logistics of a job of this scope was mind boggling, but everything from permits to heavy equipment rentals, material deliveries, and manpower requirements was smoothly orchestrated. While Dave Adamczyk Sr.was ultimately responsible, his more than qualified son David Jr. was on site every day to supervise and lend a hand when needed. At any given moment he could be found on his cell phone with a supplier, operating a Bobcat, supervising the concrete pour, discussing details with his various crews, or helping jack up the garage. Although his job was very demanding, it was made easier by the fact that each and every person under his leadership was an extremely skilled, expert craftsman. D A only employs the very best people. The work crews were always punctual, courteous, friendly, and highly motivated, even when the summer temperatures were on many days flirting with 100 degrees. They all took great pride in their work and at the end of each work day they made it a point to clean and inspect the site. I am sure that it is obvious by now that we were more than happy and satisfied with work that was done. We absolutely love the addition and enjoy all the compliments we receive on it. We were so pleased with the results that the next year we had D A Home Improvement replace all the remaining windows in our house, and just last month had some kitchen cabinets fabricated. We are approaching retirement and we hope that our home will not need to have much more work done, but if it does, D A Home Improvement, Inc. is the company we'll choose.
Description of Work: We had been thinking about having an addition built on the rear of our Trenton ranch for a few years, and in 2004 we decided to take the plunge and have it done. My wife was adamant from the very beginning of the process that D A Home Improvement was the only company that we would consider for the job. We knew the owners, David and Celia Adamczyk professionally and personally, and were aware of their reputation for outstanding workmanship, professional demeanor, and integrity. The approximately 500 square foot brick addition constructed on the back of the house has a 12 foot cathedral ceiling with 2 mechanical skylights, a cantilevered walk-out bay with 4 casement windows, French doors, and a large custom arched window. All the windows and doors were made by Andersen. The corner gas fireplace is highlighted by a beautifully constructed mantle, and trim, that blends seamlessly with the 6 inch base molding. The doors, windows, and adjoining opening have beautiful 4 inch casing topped with spectacular 6 inch crown moldings. All this amazing finish carpentry accents the totally flawless expanses of perfectly installed drywall and gorgeous beech hardwood flooring. The exterior workmanship is no less impressive. From the excavation for a new sewer (required by code), to reroofing the house and garage to match the addition, D A Home Improvement handled everything. The new brick and mortar was a perfect match to the original, and was masterfully installed and included attractive accents around the doors and windows. All new aluminum trim and seamless gutters and downspouts added the finishing touches. While all this was occurring, D A tackled my sagging 2 1/2 car garage. After I transferred all the contents to a storage facility, David Jr. and crew jacked up the roof, pulled in the walls, and installed custom made trusses and cross ties to hold it all together. The garage is now as good as new.

 + 1 moreWe called this company after our contractor quit on us. Within 3 hrs. Of my post on Angie's List we not only received a call back, but he was already at our house to bid on the job. He was extremely kind and professional. At the end of the day, his bid was more than we could afford. He did come back with a lower bid, but we just decided to save the money and do it ourselves. Next time we have a project, we'll call this company. It would've saved us a lot of money in the long run.

 + 2 moreThe job went extremely well, from the initial quote to the finish. They were not the cheapest quote I got, but they were able to do it all. In other words, I could go to one company and get an exhaust fan installed and get all the plaster work completed. I wanted good plaster work because this house is almost 90 years old and I do not want to do this again. The electrical/HVAC team arrived first and installed the fan with seemingly no problems. They also were able to vent it out the side of my house like I wanted rather than out the roof, which I think just makes another chance at a leak. They were just great and I love the fan. I think a lot of the plaster damage was caused by steam from the shower, anyway. Then, we spent a good week with Ron, the plasterer, and his assistant Shiloh. They were great! Ron is a true artist. These walls were so wavy and cracked and going every which way but straight before. You ought to see them now. They are totally flat and beautiful and ready to prime and paint. We are going to do that ourselves. I could not be more pleased with this job. I will say that I got two quotes cheaper. I also believe you only get what you pay for. This job was well worth the money. I would highly recommend their plaster work to anyone.
Description of Work: I had, first of all, a bathroom exhaust fan, including all of its ventilation, installed and also had the bathroom ceiling, the hallway ceiling, the stairwell ceiling, the living room ceiling and living room walls completely replastered.

 + 3 moreYou actually do get what you pay for. Ten years ago the same bathroom (our house only has one) was in such a state of disrepair that it couldn't be used. The shower had eroded the walls all around and leakage was damaging the floor below. Ceiling below was already destroyed. DA had redone the bathroom at that time. We needed a new window recently and asked them back. I would bet we spent 6 months trying to find some one to replace that window. It seemed always something. The experience was outstanding. One really big bene is that they come and do the work when no one is around. Since we both work this is invaluable

 + -1 moreI found this company through my wife's brother. They actually did a very good job. My one complaint is that they didn't get the permit, so we got a letter from the city. That was the only thing. It took them a long time to get the permit. Actually, there were no repercussions that I know of. The system hasn't been inspected yet by the city inspector. I think the contractor is the one who gets fined. The permit ensures that the work is installed properly. They are concerned about the electrical systems being in right so that fires aren't started.

 + -1 moreI have light colored almost white shingles to be more energy efficient. I really liked that they really understood my reasons for optimizing my energy efficiency. They even installed a solar vent fan. The vent in our kitchen never went through the roof and at no cost they vented it properly through the kitchen, up through the roof. They went above and beyond their call of duty. I did have a minor issue and they had to come back. Ryan was my representative he is helpful. If you have any problems they will come right out to address it. They are professional and local. I am really happy with the outcome, it looks really nice. I will absolutely use them for other projects when it’s necessary.

Description of Work: My kitchen was remodeled by DA. The sales person who estimated my job claimed to be very busy and didn't get me a quote for almost 2 weeks after meeting with me. Said the company kept her extremely busy. Once I approved the details it was about 6 weeks before remodeling started. I appreciated the fact that they waited to start my kitchen until all my cabinets were delivered. Other companies wanted to start my job and wait for cabinetry to arrive. Several told me it would take more than a month !! DA was done ( for the most part ) with my job in a week !. There were several issues that arose during my remodel and if not for the extremely well organized construction crew it could've been a disaster. My only complaint about my experience can be directly related to my sales person. She ordered the wrong Range and Refrigerator and also didn't realize that the sink I wanted wasn't going to fit in the space provided. I had to settle for a smaller less desirable sink. There was also some miscommunication about a cabinet but I let it go because it worked out for me anyway. She gave me the feeling of just wanting to get the sale and be done with me. If you hire DA. Do yourself a favor and request that Paul, Clarence and Mike are the ones who do the labor. Their craftmenship, detail and communication skills are nothing short of phenomenal. The experience with them made up for any mistakes !

Each day they never left a mess, always ended their day cleaning up after themselves, and were always concerned about our comfort as the project was accomplished. We truly appreciated their suggestions as we approached/discussed/planned an upcoming project, their work ethic as they completed a project, their attempts to maintain the agreed to schedule, and their including us in each and every step of each project's completion.
Description of Work: DA Home Improvement has been our #1 home improvement company since approx. 1992. Every door (front, back, patio,room, closet) and window of our home was installed by DA. Our home addition including a fireplace and sun porch with sky light was done by DA. Our car port, drive way repair, patio all done by DA. Our main bath with new bath liner and walls and our bath in our basement have been updated by DA. Every room in our home has been touched and improved by DA either by remodeling to correct a problem caused by years of use or by totally starting from a blueprint and ending with a completed beautiful addition.
