Went smoothly. Finished deck looks good. We thought there would be a team working, but instead there was 1 man who did the whole thing over the course of a week. So it took a little longer than we expected, but we may have misunderstood. Company does good work.

Excellent, good workmanship, timely response to the step correction, great cleanup after the job was done. Very good working with the county and township inspectors.

The owner, Aaron, captured our vision exactly and provided the crew to execute his plan perfectly. We couldn't have asked for two nicer guys than Mark and Jason - courteous, polite, friendly and hard workers! Sometimes, it was difficult getting through to Aaron and the job took a little longer than we anticipated, but the end result was well worth the wait! We're happy with our new sunroom and deck and would recommend this company.

A couple of communication issues but otherwise job went smooth and quick. We are very pleased with how the project went and the final result. The workmanship was top notch which is very noticeable in how accurate and tight the corners and miters are. Several people have commented on that. The price was fair and in the same ballpark as their competitors.

The deck looked great when it was installed. However, on July 10th (less than one year later) we noticed major gapping all along the perimeter of the deck. I have contacted Warren (our salesman) four times via email about my concerns and included pictures. His response was that it did not look good and he would get over right away to check it out. It is now August 20, 2017 and he has still not had the courtesy to come and look at it nor fix the problem. We paid a lot of money for this deck thinking we would not have issues already or have to deal with a company that truly does not care about their customers.

Kevin and Zach did an excellent job removing my old deck and building a new trex deck and stairway. They were friendly and answered any questions I had. Their craftsmanship was evident in how well the deck turned out! Cleanup and trash removal was great. Very pleased!

We met, talked and emailed with Warren many times trying to finalize our deck design (our fault, we kept changing what we wanted). Warren was very patient during the process. We had his company build a Trex composite. It took less than one week including building the substructure and installing the supports. We also had a RainEscape system installed as well. His crew worked very hard in awful weather and never complained. They worked long days and made sure we were completely satisfied before leaving. We are very happy with the deck and the professionalism and dedication of this company's employees. We have already recommended them to multiple people.

Very professional and personable employees. Provided multiple design options to address the budget that we were working with. Kept us informed on the status of the job as work was underway. The job was finished quicker than expected especially considering the weather conditions. Daily clean-up was very good thru out the project and ultimately upon completion. Unpredictable complications that were discovered were completed at no additional cost. We are very pleased with the outcome and definitely recommend MIchigan's Best Deck Builders.

Redecking with Trex composite is an expensive investment and we wanted to be certain we hire the right person for the job. We’ve collected quotes from different contractors for over two years now. We looked online, Trex website and on Angie’s list, asked friends and neighbors, asked lumber suppliers and major brick and mortar stores. It looks like during these times, some are so busy that they can’t even answer their phones or return messages. Others show up at your house at inconvenient times when you’re not there and quote the job over the phone. For this kind of project we generally like to see the person who we will be working with face to face and preferably the owner, not a sales guy or some ball boy. If for a new job they don’t have time to show up, imagine what happens if something goes wrong and you need them to come fix it. We don’t like companies that sub-contract and we don’t like one-man businesses that can vanish overnight. We also don’t like companies that start a job and then move on to the next without finishing. And we don’t appreciate being insulted with ridiculous quotes just because the contractors are too busy and afford to lose business. So, based on all of these criteria, we eliminated many of the contractors we’ve seen and finally settled on Michigan Best Deck Builders because they were the most realistic, responsive and fair. And hopefully, we can count on them in the future with any issues we might have with our deck. Aaron, the owner was available to come to our house and look at the deck at a very convenient time for me which was late in the day (so I did not have to take time off from work). He was very open to our suggestions and was willing to do everything we requested. He was very patient and listened and answered all of our concerns. He laid out the plan for our deck, took measurements and gave us suggestions. He showed us some photos with similar decks he has done with the same style and colors. We liked that he was very open to anything that we came up with: such as adding chicken wire instead of a skirt or deck screening to keep the animals out from under our deck but still allow air to flow and prevent sub-frame structure decay. Due to the size of our deck, we also wanted a parallel backbone deck board installed and edging of a different color. That was not a problem for him and the bump in price was small compared with the added work that they had to do. We also wanted the Trex lights on the post caps, step facias and some installed on the deck boards. We had a combination of benches and rails that we wanted to allow for both privacy and comfort and we had two stairs, each with 3 steps. We put every detail down in writing so there was no question on what was needed at the time the project got built. Aaron agreed to all of our terms and gave us a fair price and we decided to hire him and feel very good about our decision. From the date of signing the contract until the first day of work took about 9 weeks but we were warned that we had to wait a long time because they are busy. That was not a big concern for us but it was a little frustrating not knowing ahead of time when I needed to take some time off from work to be home. Their schedule runs based on the weather so I understand that it’s hard for them to estimate a start date. Before the day they started working, new Trex materials were delivered to our driveway. Make sure they call you ahead so they don’t block your driveway with the material. The next day, in the morning, one guy showed up and started tearing the old deck boards apart. This took pretty much the entire day. The following days the rest of the crew came - including Aaron’s brother and father - and started installing the new deck boards. They replaced the rim boards and added intermediate joists and noggins for the rim and backbone. Everything that we didn’t like we pointed to them and they promptly corrected without hesitation. They installed the chicken wire exactly to our requirements and even helped us install weed barrier under the deck. The entire crew was very courteous and genuinely carrying for our concerns. They even made a cover for my sump drain pipe that sticks out from the siding and goes under the deck into the ground. Also they had to remove the cover from under the doorwall as it was caulked onto the old decking and they rebuilt it with Trex material. They built the benches with two posts for better sturdiness and at the correct height we wanted. In fact, every step of the way we were consulted to our preferences and we appreciated that a lot. The benches and the Trex rails look outstanding and give the deck a pleasant and inviting view. When the job was done, they left the site clean of any debris or nails. They even helped me cut down a bunch of tree branches and hauled them away together with the old decking at no extra cost. Overall, they did a very good job with high attention to detail. We’re happy with how the deck looks and we hope it will last a long time. One thing I should mention is that their phone answering lady might not always be up to date with what happens in the field so be patient when you call.

Michigans Best Decks Builders did an excellent job, from providing an accurate free estimate and taking the time to describe what would be done with old deck and how the new deck would be put in. They worked with us on color choices and the different patterns and lighting we could do with the composite decking abilities and really made every option they could available to keep our deck's basic shape the same. They even worked around our hot tub by moving it around the deck while they replaced the old boards with new boards and added extra support posts to where the hot tub would eventually be positioned. They added deck skirting around the deck to replace our broken lattice design and made the deck look very nice and even provided an entrance way section that pulls out and then latches back in place for times when you need to get under the deck for any reason. They cleaned up well and finished the job within a week and a half. Am very happy with the completed product and the way they worked with us throughout the process.

Loved everything. Would highly recommend this company. They power washed the new deck the day it was finished. All excess materials were cleaned up and hauled away the next day..

We are very happy with the results of this project. Company worked with us as project progressed to allow for adjustments as needed. Crew worked long days in the heat of the summer to make sure project was completed within our requested timeline. They showed flexibility to our requests, and kept the construction site looking neat despite the size and extent of work being done. We would definitely hire again!

This is an excellent company to work with for deck-building. They did all parts of the work - from estimating to the teardown to the rebuilding - very promptly and professionally. They explained all the choices and the associated costs in detail and we think that the price they charged was fair. They showed up on the date and time promised and worked to finish all the work as we had originally requested, in spite of the fact that the weather was unusually hot during their days of work. Their cleanup afterwards was also great - no complaints. The new deck looks well-built and of good quality material and we will see how it holds up after some time has passed. Overall, a very nice experience and a company we highly recommend for this type of work.

They're going to come out and replace our deck. It was a fair price.They had a great portfolio. They were prompt. Their portfolio was so much more extensive than other people. They really do nice work. They have a fair price. It's in the ballpark with the other that we had. It ended up being more but we got extras. Everybody was pretty competitive that way. They just look like they had a lot more experience. We just felt more confident taking them. My interactions with them were fine. It was very good. We really like them and that's why we picked them.

We wanted a 30 year-old deck torn out, and a larger, new deck constructed. We opted for treated wood. We got bids from 3 contractors; all from Angie's list, as well as Lowe's. This contractor presented a nice picture book of past projects. They all looked nice. He sounded knowledgeable. His price was right. His quote however showed the wrong measurements . . off by about 2'. When notified, he said the difference would not be a problem. He then presented a 7 page, printed contract that, in my opinion was all ridiculously one sided . . his side. It made me responsible for any claims not covered by his general liability policy. What about an injury to his employee? A neighbor? When I objected to this language, he wrote that he had grown "weary" talking about it and suggested that he would not be a good fit for the project. I had to agree. I found another contractor on Angie's List, Carl Zatsick, who built a bigger deck for a better price and someone I found very trustworthy. I had no reason to mistrust Michigan's Best Deck Builder . . but especially considering that its measurements were wrong how could I accept a contract that was, in my opinion, one-sided and non-negotiable?

Great experience from the beginning to the end. They were actually able to meet me on a Saturday to provide me with an estimate. The cost was similar to the two other companies but MBDB provided a much better product and more square feet. Once on site the project went very quickly and they were extremely efficient putting in very long days to get the project done. Fantastic work from a very professional crew. Overall great experience and I will use them again for future projects.

Deck and covered porch look fantastic. We have one of the best looking decks now in our subdivision. The crew was very friendly. We had two main workers Glenn and Kevin. They were always very nice and professional. Warren handled all the permits and association approvals, which went smooth and quicker than expected. Work was completed in a reasonable time with some rain delays. Overall very happy with the finished product, and craftsmanship.

Very well. The job was started and completed quickly and mainly efficiently. The contractor had to return one extra day due to an error when cutting the length of the boards. He had to go get more supplies. We asked for them to come back after the job was complete to make a minor adjustment/repair and that too was taken care of very quickly.

The project went well. We treated the team well and they performed very well.
