When the original railing I had selected faced an unforeseen shortage, Aaron went above and beyond to ensure the project's seamless progression. Rather than subjecting us to frustrating delays, he orchestrated a free upgrade to an even more impressive railing system. This level of proactivity and consideration truly sets him apart. The level of workmanship exhibited by Aaron and his team was nothing short of superb. Highly recommended, would absolutely use them again! Aaron Hinzman and his team built a new 500sf 2nd story Trex deck for us, in the dead of winter, and it is absolutely stunning. If you’ve ever worked with contractors, you’ll find an entire spectrum of personalities and workmanship. It is always a risk to take that leap of faith, and we’re grateful we found Michigan’s Best Deck Builders. Our story: Aaron came over to give us an estimate and scope of work. He was incredibly meticulous and methodical with his quote and sketch from the start. He answered all of our questions with confidence and he was very calm (not salesy/pushy). We continued to take several weeks to obtain 5 additional quotes from other deck builders in the area. There are some great ones out there with big names, flashy marketing, and superstar type-A personalities, and competitive “we’ll beat any quote” pricing, and they all made us feel very comfortable, no complaints. Here’s where Michigan’s Best Deck Builders stood out: Aaron runs a tight ship and doesn’t outsource his work to a 3rd party team. He was on our job every day and built our deck himself, with his own dedicated crew. There was never a time that he didn’t return a text or a phone call within a few hours and was on top of the schedule. We never had to ask or question anything. That said, his quote was not the cheapest, but we unanimously chose him as he was incredibly reliable and the service quality was meticulous from quote to finish. That’s not something we found to be common these days; and if you’ve had to deal with chasing contractors, you’ll value reliability and quality over all. The deck is beautiful and the experience was absolutely stellar.

The deck looks great - the 2 guys that actually put the work into replacing our deck were GREAT! However, the sales person and the owner made this experience HORRIBLE! We should have seen the red flags with the sales person and walked away, but we were anxious to have our deck replaced. The sales person lied to us about the pricing and adjusted our contract after sending it to us. Also, his communication was relatively non-existent - we shouldn't have to call the office to get a response! It didn't seem like this was news to the office manager as she told us that she's told him many times that once the customer is calling the office they are already not happy. As for the salesperson's uncle, the owner, he is a BULLY! He called us to collect what we assumed was our discount, but since his nephew adjusted our contract to mark it as "Cash" - he would not listen to us and threatened us with charging interest and more for paying with a check. He was extremely unprofessional and we will NEVER work with his company again, nor refer this company!

After contacting Michigan Deck Builders, the owner came to our home and provided us with a proposal and scope of work. Once we accepted the proposal we were put on the schedule. Because Covid, there was a 2 month wait to get materials. Once the decking materials were available, workers came out and removed the old deck in one day. This activity was followed by a cleanup effort that was completed the following day. Once the decking material arrived, a full crew arrived and worked 3 days to install the new deck. After the deck was completed to our satisfaction, the cleanup crew arrived and removed all excess material and left are yard clean of all debris.

Michigan's Best Deck Builders did an excellent job, from the initial contact with owner, Warren Hinzman who provided a detailed estimate on the first visit, to completion by his wonderful crew. The crew was friendly, experienced deck builders. They knew what they were doing. They were more than willing to patiently explain my many questions and concerns. The finished product, decking and railings, are beautiful. I have no problem recommending this company to my friends and relatives. They did fantastic work.

Aaron Hinzman owner is one of the best contractors I have ever met. Honest, true to his word, compassionate. His work crew is out of the box courteous, honest, helpful, and very compassionate.

I called several companies for quotes. A different company seemed a little more professional and a little less money. When the owner called to follow up and we told him that we were not going to use them, he swore at me and hung up the phone. I felt that I was in grade school.

The team at Michigan's best decks were simply amazing. From our initial meeting, they provided a combination of insight and advise on the best approach to replace our existing deck. The installers were so good, we brought them lunch one day. They provided excellent communication before, during and after the job. I would hire them again for any job.

Michigan's Best Deck Builder's was amazing. Corey the salesman was so easy to work with and very patient while we were trying to decide exactly what we wanted. Once the construction started we were VERY happy with Matt and his crew. They were always pleasant, very courteous and the quality of the work of his crew was phenomenal and they bent over backwards to make sure we were happy as construction progressed. Also, Aaron, the owner, was hands on. We were able to contact him directly if we had any questions and he was always professional and helpful. The job was done Thanksgiving week, 2019. The crew and Aaron the owner worked around the holiday and rain to finish the job in about 4 days. I was surprised and pleased with how well the work was done.

Our deck is gorgeous. The work is excellent. We booked in late April and they were already booked out to nearly July, so book early in the year! The bulk of our deck was finished in about 2 days. The guys that built the deck were nice and hard working. Our project manager/salesman was also great in that he answered all of our questions and he was very up front with how the pricing was based, something we didn't have with others that quoted us. With the way he laid it out we knew how we could cut costs if we wanted to. That said, sometimes it was difficult to get a hold of him. So the only improvement I'd recommend for the future is improved communication/answering of phone messages and emails.

beautifully! From the first meeting with Warren to explain what we were looking for, he offered suggestions and advice and then came back with a reasonable estimate. When the construction was started, the workers were professional and the new screen porch is beautiful. It far exceeded our expectations! We love it.

We were happy with all aspects of the work. Price was reasonable compared to other estimates. Once demolition of old deck began they worked diligently and consistently other than a few delays awaiting delivery of materials. Project took about 8 weeks total. Warren and his crew were professional, well-organized, and equipped with quality tools and supplies. They showed attention to detail and were responsive to our wishes. Warren presented us with options and pros/cons for different situations, and we are very happy with the results. With space heaters we have been able to use the sunroom consistently even with temperatures in the 20's.

Overall, the installation was great. Due to weather it was delayed a bit. The installer came on a Sunday to catch up to meet project completion date. The installer was approachable and was open to discussing how the project was going, advice and other project details. The only recommendation would would be sod repair to complete the overall look/use.

From the initial visit to the completion, MBDB was extremely professional and prompt. The entire job was completed to our specifications and within a very reasonable amount of time. The bid was slightly less than other bids we received and it was well within our expectations. I would recommend MBDB to anyone who needs a new or a rebuild of their deck. The crew who came out to complete the job did excellent work and took pride in getting everything just so. I really appreciate the time and effort they took to make our deck as nice as it now is. The finished product is beautiful and the job was done as we agreed. We were fortunate that a construction window came up shortly after the quote. The crew stayed on the job till finish, and we had a completed deck to enjoy for the summer. However, I was disappointed that the owner was difficult to connect with and absent during the construction, thus the downgrade in Responsiveness and Professionalism. Fortunately I was around to monitor the construction and the crew was great in working with me to address issues as they came up. In the end, everything worked out great. I have recommended them and would use again.

No complaints. Very professional. Replacing existing old wood, not unexpectedly, uncovered some surprises, but Chris, the installer, handled them with skill. The finished product looks great.

We cannot express how thrilled we are with the result. From the initial estimate meeting with Warren to the very end clean up, this company is professional and outstanding in workmanship. Kevin and his crew were so very attentive to the MANY perennials I have planted, treading carefully as they maneuvered around the deck project. The end result is a dream come true for "do it yourself-ers". We take pride in our property and home and this company helped enrich it, always polite, prompt and kind. We cannot thank you enough!

Warren Hinzman provided much information and a very competitive quote. Tom and his two associates performed the work. Tom is a true craftsman - the miter joints on the steps and elsewhere are 'furniture grade'. The team were courteous, friendly, and truly talented.
