JRB Renovations

We are very happy with the remodel by JRB. The quality of the work and materials is excellent. The crew members always arrived on time, were respectful and friendly, and cleaned up each day before leaving. Josh was great, he stayed in communication with us and took the inevitable change requests in stride, and kept everything moving so that the remodel was completed on schedule. We love our new bathroom and will definitely go back to JRB for future home improvements.

Working with Josh was great. He is very professional, does quality work and is an excellent communicator. I would recommend him to anyone looking for a variety of skilled trades.

Not reliable or professional. Scheduled a quote on the weekend, he cancelled a couple hours before appointment because he had a long drive and other appointment nearby cancelled. We rescheduled for the next weekend (today). He texted before the appointment and asked to move it 45 min ahead, we said fine. However he did not show at that time, he texted me that he was stuck in traffic, then that he was pulled over. I pushed back a lunch date to accommodate him, because he said he was on the way. 2 hrs and 25min later he still hadn’t arrived. If you didn’t want the job just say so, don’t waste my time! Lots of excuses with this guy!

Josh is the most professional, responsive person we’ve ever worked with on a home project. While other tile people were telling us there was a 3-4 month back-up, Josh and his tile guy got the job done in three weeks from initial contact to final installation (and we were on vacation for one of those weeks). He responded to our inquiry the day we sent it via Angie’s list, came out later the same week to look at the space, had a quote to us same day, and scheduled the project as soon as we were available. The actual installation only took two days (one full day and a couple hours the next). Josh and his tile guy showed up exactly at 7:00 each morning, told us exactly what they would be doing, and kept the work site really clean. It’s like they weren’t even there except for the beautiful tile we saw when we walked in the door. This was the best experience we’ve ever had with a home improvement project. We will definitely call Josh first for future projects!

Josh and his crew renovated and made bigger our original 1950s all pink bathroom and added a closet to our back room. The results are night and day! Josh and Danny have set the bar high for future renovations. They’re both extremely knowledgeable and easy to work with. Every morning they arrived by 7 am sharp and started work immediately. Each day they would let me know their agenda for the day and go over any issues that surfaced or questions they had. Their communication with us throughout the duration of the project was persistent. Their careful attention to detail is evident in their work. They did not take short cuts and their craftsmanship shows. When we we had questions, they offered their professional opinions. They were easy to work with and accommodating to our wish list and vision. We were also very happy with the tile, cabinet, and granite companies that they recommended to us to use. The tile company in particular was really nice and the lead man there was really helpful in deciding on our tile. He had really good ideas for our shower border, which we wouldn't have thought of on our own. Our bathroom came together within the time frame they estimated (about 3 weeks) and we are super happy with the final results. We’d definitely use JRB for future remodels and recommend them to anyone! Included are a couple "after" photos, but the photos don't do it justice. Our bathroom is so bright, clean and light in person :)

Josh was fabulous! He always showed up when he said he would, or would text to say he was running a bit late. They cleaned up every night. The work was all done timely, each step was completed as soon as possible based on delivery of cabinets and countertops. And the final product was beautiful! I definitely would hire Josh again.

Josh did a great job. This was the easiest reno I've had. He texted the night before to let us know when he would be there, he was on time, he made sure his subs were on time, he cleaned up every night and the job was done on time and within budget. He has good connections -- all of the people he brought into to do various parts (drywall, shower door, granite..) were very professional and the quality of their work was great.

Everything went very well. The boss started out well by being flexible to meet me for a pre-work evaluation and gave me a timely quote and schedule. Every time I had a question, he was prompt with an answer, and the sub-contractors he uses (tile store, paint store, tile installer, Euro-door) are all top-notch as well. The old stall was torn out and hauled off in one day. New interior walls and shower base installed with special attention to prevent drainage issues. Ceramic tile was installed over 2-3 days, looks perfect. Grouting, ceiling light, Euro door, curb, painting . . . everything was done by talented and hard working professionals. They always took steps to prevent ambient damage, and always cleaned up after themselves each day before leaving. Always prompt and on schedule. I enjoyed talking with each of the crew members over the several days they worked. I would definitely hire this company again.

The crew arrived on the date promised and began the task of removing cabinets, countertops, appliances from the kitchen and tile flooring from most of the 1st story. Josh and his crew completed tasks on time and were sure to keep me updated on progress and next steps to ensure all were on the same page. They were flexible with changes and fair when unexpected issues arose. Blaies (Josh) is able to do all work involved, which increases speed and eliminates the need for several subcontractors. We tasked the crew with a large project that involved a lot of moving pieces, and the end result turned out perfect and exactly to design. I will be hiring in the future for additional projects.

Blaies Renovations did an excellent job!!! Very easy to work with and accommodating to schedule. I have re-hired them to do a second bathroom.

We really like their work. Josh and Lee worked very hard. For every step they moved forward, they talked to us and made sure what we wanted to be done.

Team was polite, tidy and professional. They put in the fan - we ended up having to reroute the venting later (through another contractor) when we had insulation put into the attic, but other than that they did a terrific job.

It went slower than expected due to not having the manpower Bob expected to have, so being one man short, was a problem. The work was done very nicely, and we are very happy with the new look. Lee and Josh were very exacting in their work. and we would definitely hire this company again if we need more work done. We had them redo another bathroom floor some time ago, and were well aware of their work, so that's why we hired them again.

Working with Blaies Renovations was an outstanding experience from start to finish. My initial call got a prompt response and the quote occurred in short order. The work began when scheduled, and the crew always arrived on-time. They were a pleasure to work with and always took care to not make a mess in the house. Blaies uses only their own workers (no subcontractors) which allows them to maintain quality control as demonstrated by the outstanding quality of their work. Bob Blaies was always helpful and responded to questions on a timely basis. The cost was competitive and communications were excellent. They did an outstanding job on our bathroom. It is truly a night and day difference. It dramatically updates the room while still integrating the appearance with our adjacent bedroom. Pictures are included with this review. I was drawn to Blaies because of all the great reviews they already had on Angie's List. Now I fully understand how they earned those reviews and that outstanding reputation. I have already spoken highly of them to many people who could be prospective customers. If we ever need renovation work again, you can be sure that I will contact them. I give them my highest recommendation!

Wonderful. It took longer than expected (by quite a bit) but the outcome was great. Much more functional than the original.

As many others have shared, the team was courteous, on time, cleaned up each day (which was much appreciated) and the end result was a great new kitchen and dining room space we love!

We had a wonderful experience with Bob and his team. They followed through with their word, were responsive, adaptable, accommodating, stuck to the timeline/proposal, etc. There were no surprises which is something that is not always the case when working with a contracting company for the first time. I felt comfortable with them in my home and they were kind to my pet and always respectful. The quality of work was great and the outcome was a truly beautiful bathroom that will surely help increase the value of our home. We'll definitely work with Bob again in the future, and recommend him without hesitation.

Excellent!! Bob's crew was above all expectations...Josh, Lee, Kirk and Vic were the best contractors we've ever hired. They were prompt, efficient, and finished the job in the proposed time. Always in contact with me regarding any changes in schedule. They enlarged my bathroom, changed the entire previous floor plan, and it is gorgeous...we couldn't be happier! My new laundry area, is upstairs now, and it is just perfect..better than I could have imagined...love it all!!

This is the third time that I've hired Blaies renovation and they did another outstanding job. This time they renovated my main floor bath. It's very small and just wasn't functioning well. The previous owner crammed a shower in what should have been a half bath. Now it's a half bath and functions beautifully! They took it down to the studs and reconfigured it. Which meant moving a lot of plumbing around in a crawl space. Their work was impeccable. Josh handled the plumbing issues like the pro that he is. And he installed heating in the floor. And Nick did another superb job on the tile. And then of course there's Kirk who is the master of everything else! What a great team Bob has put together. If you're looking at remodeling projects, you just can't go wrong with Blaies Renovations.

We began looking into remodeling our master bathroom early last year and contacted 3 different companies (including Bob) for quotes. Bob stood out with his promptness, thoughtful and detailed proposal, and reasonable quote. We then had a major unexpected house repair that put a sizable dent into our budget, so we had to delay the work by a year. When we were ready to revisit, we immediately called Bob. He came out again, and knowing the reason we delayed, gave us a second free estimate (the first estimate is always free). At this point we also decided to update our powder room. Our experience was excellent. Bob and his crew (Josh, Kirk, Vic, Lee) were very courteous. The whole process took approximately 4 weeks (as estimated) and they did it in such a way where there was very little disruption to our routine. Everything was clean at the end of each day. Josh especially was very prompt and would let us know if they were running a little late or not coming on a particular day. On days where we weren't home, they always locked up before they left. Bob's quote includes labor and some materials while others (such as tile, finish paint, shower door, some fixtures) are not included. We went with his suppliers for purchase of the vanities, tile, countertop and everything went smoothly. Since this was our first renovation, Bob was helpful in giving us timeframes to choose and order materials before the work began. There was one tiny glitch with installing the backsplash for the countertop that was resolved promptly. The tile contact, Demetri, was very helpful in coordinating a design for us when we went in with our countertop and vanity color samples, and Vic did an amazing job installing the tile. We love our new bathrooms and would go with Bob and his team again for future renovations.

Bob and his crew were excellent. We never had hired someone to do a renovation before and found Bob on Angie's List. We received quotes from other more local companies that people referred us to but Blaies was the lowest. We were hesitant to use someone that no one else we knew had used and was lower cost than others but we couldn't be happier with our decision. Bob was very helpful in guiding us through the renovation process. If you are not experienced with bathroom remodels, I suggest using his recommended vendors to pick out your selections because, as we learned, every decision can impact other parts of the bathroom. We had some minor issues with a couple of his vendors but because we were using his vendors, Bob was quick to fix the issues. His tile contact was especially helpful with putting together a design that we love, especially considering how many samples we brought home and how unsure we were about the overall look. As for the labor, Bob's crew were quick, professional, polite, and always there when they said they would be. The work was completed in less than a month, with a few days here and there waiting for the countertop and such to arrive. I've heard stories about other contractors starting the work, leaving a mess, and then doing nothing for weeks, but Bob's crew were there first thing in the morning and made sure they cleaned up before they left every day. And they were very accommodating to our requests (and how particular we were about certain things) and always made sure to resolve anything we asked of them. If you are looking for someone to renovate your bathroom at a reasonable cost but who will do an excellent job, I highly recommend Blaies Renovations. If you haven't done a major renovation to your home before, I suggest that you buy all of the supplies through Bob's vendors because Bob coordinates the order timing and arrival of all the parts and makes sure you aren't missing anything. We considered buying our tile and faucets online to save a small amount of money, but we heard too many stories about people going that route and receiving warped tiles or the wrong type of fixtures. If you have ever had a bad experience with a contractor, you will be extremely impressed with Bob and his crew. There were 5 or 6 people total that worked on the bathroom throughout the project, but every one of them were polite and friendly and we were happy to have them in our home, even while we were not there. We love our new bathroom and couldn't have had a better experience using Blaies.

I am very happy with the results of the remodel, Bob Blaies and everyone on his 'team' was great to work with and very professional. Bob went over what would be done, and associated timing for each phase of the work. Each person on the team had their area of expertise ( i.e., painting - tile work - general installation) and each person was a real craftsman in their part of the job. I was advised who was coming, and when, and if there was a change to the plan I was advised. So....no 'surprises'. Another advantage of hiring Blaies Renovations was that I was given the name of a 'contact' at the places I needed to visit to select: tile - vanity - granite countertop. (You have the option to go to a place other than the ones Bob provided, customer's choice). I went with the places Bob suggested - and was so glad I did. Choosing the vanity was easy, I knew what I wanted, style & color. Selecting the tile and countertop put my brain on overload. I wandered around a bit on my own, made some selections......fortunately, my 'contact person' was able to point out some aspects of my choices that simply were "not good". Left to my own choices would have left my bathroom with colors & designs I know I would not have liked. So, this professional opinion help was a real Plus for me. The Blaies team was also probably the cleanest workmen I've ever had in my house. Again, I am very pleased with the results. If I were going to remodel my kitchen (which is not at all likely, unless a Powerball Winning Lottery ticket intervenes...) Blaies Renovations would be the first place I'd call.

He was very good. His crew was very professional. They did a really nice job. They did really well. The worker that did the tile did a really nice job. He was very professional and kept things clean. That's a huge thing.
