+ -1 moreWent well. Thorough and explained/showed everything he was doing to me. Will definitely use again. On a side note, this is the only company I called that could come out and do a 'tune-up/cleaning' before 2014. I appreciated their willingness to work around my crazy schedule.

+ -1 moreThe Kotz tech said they no longer could get the replacement parts for my furnace and suggested I would need a new furnace for $3000-$4000. Called another company and the said they had the part in stock. The other company came out and replaced the fan unit for $200 dollars in less than half an hour. Kotz will rip off your elderly parents or the uninformed consumer.

+ -1 moreThe installers were on time as planned and even proceded with install on a very rainy day. The installation was very professional and the installers appeared to know what they were doing. The furnace was installed with rubber seals between all attached joints with the addition of sealant. The furnace is located below my master bedroom, and the A/C outside of the bedroom. One of my past complaints was how noisy the previous furnace was. I had a two stage furnace and A/C installed. Both units are extremely quiet. At times I can hardly tell if either are running. I have had no complaints since the both units were installed. The A/C has a very quick recovery time and maintains the set temperature easily. I have also seen a considerable reduction in utility cost. I would recommend both Trane and Kotz Heating and A/C. They did would they promised. I did find them a bit more pricy that other vendors, but so far I think the price was worth it. Very satisfied.
Description of Work: Installed Trane 97% furnace, 16 SEER A/C, and thermostat.

Description of Work: I called for service on our furnace. Norm came out and did the most thorough job ever. He insisted I stay close by so that he could show me and explain to me every thing that he was doing and why. I ve never had anyone come for any service that was so knowledgable and professional. The price above included a maintainance contract to include additional checks on our furnace and air conditioner. I will definitely use them again!!!!

+ -1 moreMy furnace was out and it was 20 degrees outside. I called several companies to come out and give me an estimate. Three companies came out and said I needed a new furnace. One guy that came out had been drinking and I wouldn't let him go down my stairs. When I called KOTZ I explained my situation and I talked to Neil (sales). Neil came to the house, told me my Trane was a great furnace and that they could fix it that night (Friday). He went to Troy to get the parts and when the service guy showed up he had everything he needed to get my heat back on. The techs were very professional and friendly and they did a great job. I wouldn't hesitate to use this company again or recommend them. Thanks

+ -1 moreWe called Kotz, expecting to have to wait for a long time since so many people were having problems with the extreme heat, but they got someone out the next day. The work was done quickly and professionally, and it was wonderful to have A/C again!They offered us a service plan so we can keep our system better maintained, and we purchased it. We are very happy with their work and with the peace of mind that the service plan gives us.
Description of Work: Our A/C went out during one of the horrible hot spells, and Kotz came out and repaired our system. There was a bad capacitor that they had to replace. We also purchased a service plan for maintenance, which means they will come out twice each year to inspect our furnace and air conditioning (the price we paid included this service plan.)I feel very comfortable with the work they have done. They are very professional and thorough, and I will absolutely recommend them.

+ -1 moreFirst of all had an Angie's coupon for 25 off and i realized after I left that only 20 was deducted from the bill. Also charged me 120 for a pound of freon and i found put that other places charge in the $40-45 range when with a service charge. I already paid 84 for this. Bascially feel like they got the job done but at a super outrageous price. Wont use them again.

+ -1 moreA representative from Kotz came to my house and analyzed the existing system and made recommendations per my questions. I knew I needed a new system and wanted a high efficiency system. They gave me options on various systems and discussed the plusses and minuses. About a week later, they arrived on time and installed the equipment in one day. They went outside of their scope of work and corrected some electrical items on my hot water heater that were not up to code for me for free. Afterwards they instructed my on how to operate the system and gave me information about claiming the tax breaks on the system. They were excellent in performing all the work including cleanup. I did not get another quote so I'm not sure about their price but I think they were at least very fair on cost.

+ -1 moreWe have used this company since we moved into our house 5 years ago. Troy is always prompt and friendly. He takes the time to explain any problems he finds and gives several options for addressing those problems. As an example of how wonderful this company is to work with, let me tell you what happened over Christmas one year. We were out of town visiting family that lives 12 hours away. Our pet sitter called to tell us that the furnace upstairs was not working and the temperature was rapidly dropping in the house. With total confidence, I gave her the number for Kotz and they were out immediately to fix the problem. There are VERY few companies I would want in my house performing work without me there.

Description of Work: We had both a Trane furnace and AC installed. The installers (2) showed up on time and started tearing out the old furnace and AC. Later, 2 more workers showed up and joined in the job at hand. The complete installation took about eight hours. The furnace worked fine that day, but then the next morning it wouldn't come on. I called the salesman to let him know, and he had someone out to the house within the hour. The problem being they swaped out my old humidifier pump with a new one, and it ended up being faulty. They replaced it with a new one, and now the furnace runs great. The city inspector showed up two days after the job was done, and stated that it was one of the best installations he had ever seen. No problems at all. On the minus side: I think it would have been nice if the head installer had walked me around and explained all that they did. He didn't. Also, they put a dent in my new gutter when they went on the roof with the ladder to install the chimney liner. The salesman, Neil Busby was very knowledgable and professional. Answered any and all questions to our satisfaction.

+ -1 moreDeeDee was very thorough....measured....load calc, etc. After initial visit scheduled time to come back a 2nd time with one of the installers to address some unique parts of our needs, ducting, zoning, to ensure they got everything right.. They were very thorough and knowledgeable. I ended up going with another company just on a gut feeling of how they addressed our needs a little differently. I would definitely recommend getting an estimate from this company, though.

+ 0 moreI had tried to get quotes from other companies, and had no success. A few sent out estimators, but never gave me a price quote, and were unresponsive to my follow-up calls. In retrospect, I'm glad they didn't respond. Kotz was very prompt and enthusiastic about getting me a quote, and planning out the details of the work required. The crews are always on time or early, and always use care to avoid causing any damage in the course of their work. Frank Kotz, the president of the company, has overseen each stage of the job, and is always available when I need additional information or scheduling. I continue to be amazed by their level of professionalism, courtesy, reliability, availability and expertise. They really seem to love their work, and as a result, it's a pleasure to have them working in my home. I recommend Kotz Heating & Air Conditioning very highly; they're the best in the business!

+ -1 moreThe saleswoman Dee Dee came out, was on time (a little early in fact!) conducted a thorough assessment of my needs and provided me a fair quote. Kotz's estimate was a little higher than the other quotes I received. However, they really worked with me to come up with a solution for the tiny space my a/c and furnace have that I felt paying a little more was worth the better service. Plus, I called them a few times to ask questions when I was do research on the products they suggested and they were more than happy to answer questions. Not annoyed, like another HVAC company I received a quote from. The two men that came out to install a/c and furnace were professional, funny, efficient and a pleasure to have in my house. How often do you find yourself saying that about an HVAC company?

Description of Work: They replaced my whole-house, evaporative pad humidifier with an Aprilaire unit and switched the water source from cold to hot. At the same time, I had them replace my old mechanical thermostat with an up-to-date Aprilaire digital version.
