Very responsive and immediately gave a competitive estimate for refinishing a large deck. Deck needed to be leveled and repaired before refinishing and hence did not move ahead. Will certainly use them in the future.

Replaced old wooden deck with new composite deck. On time,very professional, responded well to minor changes we made, friendly, very good work.

Frank did a great job on our Trex deck. We have a walk out basement, so the deck is raised a story. Our old treated wood deck was high maintenance and too small. Frank had lots of pictures of previous jobs and great suggestions on how our deck and stairs should be designed. The trim work he did on the rails and stairs looks wonderful. He was careful with the landscaping, sprinklers and existing gutters around the deck area. He showed up when he said he would and so did his crew. He was easy to work with and very honest. The only issue we had overall with the job was that there were tons of cigarette butts and some screws and fasteners left all over the yard and on the paver patio that my husband has been cleaning up.

$900 for the job inc. $407 material cost...pressure treated lumber (builder getting all extra materials leftover...50 balusters, 1 8' 4x4...3 bags of cement). PLUS additional $31.00 for gate hardware. Job total...$931.00.

They were very good. The owner came out and was very helpful with helping us make decisions. They were quick, clean, and dependable. The owner even came back and trimmed our bushes after the job was done. They were the first ones that could get the work done for us and we were very pleased.

Company can out and gave and estimate and told me what to expect and what might be extra. During the entire process I was kept informed of what was going on and what the next steps were. Old deck removed along with fence around it, then new deck installed on time! A truly good project that was run great. Work recommend them to any and everyone.

.After reading positive reviews on Angie's List, we contacted Frank Snell about installing a deck atop an original [deteriorated] concrete patio in the rear of our home. Mr. Snell responded immediately to our call and stopped over. He inspected the site for the deck, gave us an estimate and even drew up a deck plan on the spot. His quote was very competitive and his deck creation and local coding expertise was extensive and impressive. We signed the contract immediately. The Bella Decks crew began the installation the next day. The deck base was established with a generous number of posts that were laser-aligned and precision sunk to 42" underground. Then, an interconnected system of hardwood beams were securely fastened to the posts. The next layer of the sub-structure were cross-installed hardwood joists. Finally, the deck flooring was secured to this rock-solid underpinning structure. A walkway with steps were installed to complete the project. Clearly, this deck is strong enough to support a vehicle! The crew took great pains not to damage the decades-old flower garden that surrounded the deck area. They cleaned up thoroughly after themselves. The deck is beautiful and Frank Snell and his crew were a pleasure to work with. I would highly recommend Bella Decks for deck work

I had an above ground pool that I had removed last fall. There was decking around the pool, most of it I removed but I was left with a 21 ft straight of deck with a roughly 4 ft drop. I wanted to add steps the whole 21 ft length because I have a walk out basement and the steps lead to the basement and it would be nice for moving furniture in and out of the basement. I called Snell & Assoc. and talked to the owner Frank Snell and explained what I was looking for. Frank was able to come out that day and had a quote to me the next business day. The quote was very competitive and Frank was able to meet my timing for completing the project so I decided to go with him for the job. Frank showed up on the day he told me to complete the work. The work took about 13 hrs to complete which was done by Frank himself and one other associate. The deck work looks amazing! Frank's craftsmanship is great. The stairs and rails look great and are very sturdy. Frank also added some new deck boards to some other areas and connected the stair rail with the existing deck rail. I will definitely be calling him when I need to repair/rebuild my existing deck as well as other general contracting work.

I have a very old house in Hamtramck that has a wood porch with two sets of stairs leading up to it. Over the years, the stairs had deteriorated quite badly and were in need of replacement. A lot of good contractors that service the suburbs don't work in Hamtramck, and the type of work that often needs to be done here is avoided. There's no simple job in Hamtramck - everything comes with surprises. I came across Snell & Associates on Craigslist and reviewed their website. I contacted Snell & Associates via email to arrange for an estimate and received a call from the owner, Frank Snell, the following day. Frank worked around my schedule and came out to the house one evening to review the work that needed to be done. We discussed what I was looking for and he offered some suggestions and told me what would be involved in performing the work. It was clear he's very knowledgeable when it comes to carpentry and decks/porches. He provided a quote for materials and labor a couple days later and suggested that he install baluster handrails to be compliant with city code. Frank's quote was competitive, and I felt comfortable giving him the business, so I requested he come out a couple weeks later to perform the work. We set a date, and on the day of, I called Home Depot to pay for the material order he had setup. Frank expected to arrive at the house at 9am, but ran into some trouble that delayed him a couple hours. He gave me a call to let me know he had run into some trouble and kept me informed about when he would arrive. He arrived with a partner and they quickly got to work. They periodically called me outside to see what work they were doing and to point out some unrelated potential issues that I may have with my home. They worked continuously, straight through to about 10:30 pm in somewhat cold and rainy weather. When they were finished, they called me back outside for me to review the work. The new stairs and handrails look fantastic! They are very sturdy and feel very solid. I have absolutely no complaints about the craftsmanship. I'm extremely pleased with the work that Frank and his partner performed. Frank was very easy to work with, and there were no surprises or letdowns during the process. I'd definitely call him again for additional work, and would recommend him to friends and family.
