Everything went great.
Description of Work: My furnace stopped working, and I ended up having to purchase a new one. The whole process from calling, to arriving and diagnosing, to buying, to installing was all done between the hours of 8:10am to 5:00pm. Every employee was polite and professional. The price was very reasonable.

Description of Work: 1st Heating and Cooling is a class act! They installed brand new AC in my house that has never had AC before. Description of Work: Very nice guy, don't get me wrong, but he installed a part on my AC unit without first checking to see if my 20 year old unit was in good enough condition to warrant the additional part. All said and done, he did the right thing and did not charge me, even when I told him he could take back his part, which he left on my AC unit. I also checked with my regular furnace guy on the advice this gentlemen was providing about my furnace not being installed properly. He was trying to upsell a full duct-work/furnace platform re-install (~$1,500) stating that it would dramatically lessen the lifespan of my unit; this turned out to not be really necessary. I think he meant well and was not scamming, just not well informed about my particular furnace.

Hi [Member name removed], Thank you for taking the time to write a review. When I came out to your house on Saturday, I only meant to help. Your furnace has a 5 ton blower assembly in it, which is the largest blower available for residential unit. As the manufacture states inside the installation instructions any furnace which has a 5 ton blower needs to have either a double return which you don't have the space for or needs to be installed on a box so the furnace can consume proper airflow. Also your furnace has a back pitch to it which is a known problem with that particular brand of furnace that will destroy the heat exchanger in a reasonably short period of time. If you put a level on your furnace you'll find this to be true. Your regular heating guy was the gentleman who installed your furnace wrong from the beginning. As far as your AC is concerned, your air-conditioner would not work properly until these parts were replaced. At that point, I found that your system was low on refrigerant and most likely leaking at the air-conditioning coil which based on past experience would indicate that you would be better off replacing your entire system rather than spending more money on charging your air-conditioning system up. I provided you a courtesy of not charging you over and above for refrigerant and parts to fix your air conditioner, with the assumed understanding based on my outstanding service that my company would most likely be back to replace your air conditioner in the spring. i'm not sure how my service at your house warrants a C rating. The total service bill to complete the work would have been somewhere in excess of $600. You paid $29 for the entire service provided. Please help me understand how you could give me a C rating.

Ryan and his assistant arrived on-time (10:15 am), maybe even a little early. They both wore cloth booties over their shoes while they were in the house. Protective floor runners were placed in all the areas where the equipment would be carried. They got to work immediately - Ryan working on the coil and his assistant working on the outside A/C unit. They completed the job around 12:30 pm including all their system tests. They were very tidy and cleaned up any mess they made both inside and outside. Ryan seemed very knowledgeable and open to any questions. It was a real pleasure to have him do the work.
Description of Work: Replaced air conditioning sytem. Ryan was recommended to me by my neighbors who had used his services. I contacted him on 6/28/10 and he was able to come to evaluate my A/C the next day. The evaluation results were there was no freon in the system as well as the outside box was wired incorrectly. Ryan very thoroughly explained that I had an R22 (Freon) system which was being phased out by government environmental laws for the new R410A coolant system. However, there are still R22 replacement units available even though manufacturers were no longer making them. He could possibly find an R22 unit which would include a matched coil and A/C unit. Matched coil and A/C unit is important for more efficiency. No replacement of the refrigeration lines would be required. He found an 3-ton Amana unit that he recommened to use for the replacement (SEER 13). He gave me the proposal of $1,860 which included a new pad. To replace my system with the R410A would require not only a new coil and A/C unit which are more expensive than the R22s but new refrigeration lines would be required. This would mean tearing through dry wall or running a new line - a significant additional cost. I did research on the internet and felt comfortable with choosing the R22 replacement. We scheduled the work for around 11 am on Friday, 7/2/10.
