The motor on the central air burned out. I called and he came out the same day to determine the problem and give me a quote. After looking at all of the options offered, which included higher efficiency vs lower cost options for each part of the system, we agreed on the price and wrote up a contract. He offered to come out the next day to get started if I needed the air back on. I scheduled the work for two days later between 8 and 9. They showed up on time, explained what they would do and how long it would take. They were professional, efficient and friendly. They even dug up flowers that were in the way and set them aside so that they wouldn't kill them!

First time on Angie's List and couldn't be more pleased with the experience. Ryan from 1st was respectful, clean, easy to talk to, and responsive. I called late last night to leave a message about the problem, he returned my call this morning, and was able to schedule a visit this afternoon. Probably my best experience with a contractor to date - I would highly recommend them and will definitely use them again in the future if necessary.

1st Heating & Cooling came out to diagnose a long-term HVAC problem. Impossible to cool to a decent temp in summer, and drafty expensive heat in winter. House was originally setup with furnace & all air returns originating in garage. Multiple visits from other HVAC contractors over the years never resolved the issue. Ryan diagnosed the problem as a non-functional cold air return system, however replacing all those ducts would have been very expensive & tore the walls up. As an alternative, he recommended relocating the HVAC system to the attic. The job was a lot of work, still expensive, and took about a week. Ryan was a knowledgeable professional throughout & was very patient with all my questions and concerns. The job was completed with no problems and no mess left behind. He did strongly recommend I follow up the job with attic insulation to prevent ice damming in the winter, which I did. For the first time in 10 years, my heating & cooling issue is finally resolved! Ice cold A/C in the summer, and heats to temp very quickly in the winter. Due to the added blown-in attic insulation, about 9 months later I started having problems with the furnace staying lit. Ryan came out late on a Friday, and diagnosed the problem in about 10 minutes as a dirty flame sensor from all the dust. Fixed it right away & didn't even charge me for the service. 1st Heating & Cooling is a small company, but I still felt like I got great customer service & expertise. They'll be my first call for HVAC issues from here on out.

I didn't get any information from them that I didn't already know, and the repair information they gave me was wrong. His assessment was the entire chimney and flue needed to be cleaned, which is why the furnace wouldn't start, but that was incorrect. He also tore the stuff off the furnace and didn't put that back together. I also reported him to the Better Business Bureau. When I had another company come out to look at the flue, second person stated it wasn't enough for furnace problems. The second person actually fixed my furnace as well as cleaning my flue.

I found Ryan to be very responsive and honest. I called him on a Saturday due to a broken furnace blower fan and was hoping he would come in the same day (and he would have had he had the part). He quickly pulled up the blower information based on the serial number I provided and also let me know when the blower was manufactured. Since he didnt have the blower with him he offered to search within his network and get back. He got back as promised and hooked me up with Schwietzer's heating and cooling. I found both service providers to be honest and straightforward. Would happily recommend 1st Heating and Cooling to anyone.

I highly recommend 1st Heating and Cooling. Ryan, the owner, was prompt, courteous, and very informative when he visited my home. He explained everything in great detail and was anything but pushy. Ryan is what every contractor, repairman, etc., etc., should be. I know the job was done correct and will definitely us him in the future.

On the coldest day of the year my furnace was not working. I called 2 other place , one the phone line was constantly busy and the other gave a 2 days wait. I called 1st Heating and Cooling and Ryan walked me through a few steps to do on my own however I could not get the furnace going. He told me he could possibly fit me in at the end of day, As it turned out he was able to get here at 1:00 pm. What a life saver. He was very nice and professional. He fixed the problem at a reasonable price and did not take rip me off. I will definitely use his company again if I need it.

I needed a new furnace and A/C for my 21yo house. I arranged for three quotes based on company ratings on Angie's List. 1st Heating was the second quote I received, and after reviewing their quote and equipment list, I cancelled the third quote and hired them. They are a small operation, but the advantage is that Ryan (the owner), gave me the quote, and installed my new equipment. What really sold me was that I received much better equipment at a much better price. Dual-stage variable blower 96% furnace and a 16 SEER A/C with a lifetime compressor replacement warranty, and model numbers were provided in the quote. Both units were "scratch and dent", which means they looked new, but gave me great equipment at a significant discount. The work was spread over three days due to an equipment procurement issue (suppliers fault), but Ryan kept me informed. I also purchased an automatic humidifier, and Ryan also installed a Nest thermostat that I bought myself. The Amana equipment installed was very highly rated when I did my internet research, higher than the bigger names. Give 1st Heating your business, you won't be disappointed.

I came home from work one day to find that my furnace had stopped working in the middle of winter. I called several companies that evening and Ryan was the only one who was able to come out the next day. Unfortunately, the furnace was not able to be repaired, but he was able to install a new furnace that day. I had him come back out several months later to fix an issue with the chimney cap and he was also able to resolve a minor problem with my attic fan at no charge. Ryan is very friendly and helpful and I wish all contractors were more like him.

We couldn't be more pleased. Ryan came to provide an estimate on a central air replacement and during the assessment he identified a crack in the furnace heat exchanger. This was a known problem, but we were hoping to get a few more seasons. Ryan provided several options on both the central air and furnace, thoroughly explaining his recommendations in detail, to the point of sketching the complete system and highlighting each component. We knew exactly our choices. He never pressured the furnace sale, but did offer a several hundred dollar discount if we elected to have both installed. We decided to go with both. Ryan was able to start the work two days later. He and his team completed the work in less than a day, removed all debris and left the area clean. What I really appreciated was Ryan's willingness to take time and answer several questions during the install. 1st Heating and Cooling gets our highest recommendation.

Our A/C unit was stuck in the ON position and it was late in the evening. I called 1st Heating and Cooling and Ryan put me at ease immediately with his knowledge and professional manner. Initially he talked me through ways that I might disable the unit. This did not work. He then told me what I had to do to prevent the unit freezing up overnight. The next day they arrived before the appointment time and were very courteous and professional. The A/C unit had been serviced only two months earlier by another company. There were reasons that I was not calling them back. A new contact switch that had been fitted by the other company had failed and had to be replaced. Ryan was careful to explain step by step what he was doing. I appreciated that. 1st did a great job and their price was $100 cheaper than the other company. Ryan clearly wants to give you the best service possible.

Contractor was great. Excellent pricing, great service, finished when promised and even included some extras.

Ryan gave us an approximate time and called to confirm when he was on his way. He arrived as scheduled, listened to my description of the problem, checked the furnace, water heater and entire A/C system. Ryan gave suggestions to improve the efficiency of the furnace and A/C but they were all fixes that I could do. He found the problem that caused the A/C to stop working, called the supplier (I didn't get their name but I should have because they opened up to get Ryan the part he needed) went to pick up the part and came back to make the repair. He only charged for the work done. No charge for the inspection. He is pleasent efficient and was a great technician.

It went great! I'm eight months pregnant and the air went out at our home. It was on one of those 90 degree days and I was not handling it well. I called Ryan after 7:00 pm, not really expecting an answer from any company that late, but before I could finish leaving a message, he called me back! I was pleasantly surprised with the quick response AND with his professionalism! It was refreshing to speak to a business owner who wasn't full of what he "couldn't do", but rather - what he COULD DO! He was able to help me feel better about the situation in one conversation over the phone. He assured me he could be there the very next day - and he was. He came in full uniform and in a marked company vehicle (all of which are important to me). He even wore booties in my home, which I really appreciated. He explained everything very thoroughly to me! Even drew some diagrams. He was honest and it was a pleasure having him in our home. He was able to get our air conditioner back up and running with some free on. He also gave us a quote on what needs to be done to fix the problem. We will definitely be calling him in the fall to have the work done. Overall, I was impressed and would recommend him to others.

The entire process was great. Ryan was responsive, super punctual, very very knowledgeable and shared his knowledge with me, which makes me feel much more comfortable as the home owner. The pricing was fine. However, his professionalism and punctuality and knowledge lead me to schedule an appointment with him to replace our furnace later this year. Look forward to working with him to get that done.

In the early evening of the hottest day of the season, with temperatures in the 90s, my air conditioner stopped working. I called 1st Heating and Cooling Co first thing the following morning and was able to schedule an appointment for the same day. Since Ryan was running late for our agreed upon appointment time he courteously called to let me know he'd be fifteen minutes late. He was able to diagnose the problem instantly and had the part with him to quickly complete the repair. He was professional, friendly, seems knowledgable, and was quite accommodating. He answered all my questions, taught me a little something along the way, and gladly wore booties and was careful in my house. Though the cost of the part was higher than I think it should have been Ryan was so accommodating that I didn't raise a fuss. I was happy he arrived when he did and was impressed with his work.

I called Ryan in the morning and he gave me a few things to try before he came to the house. I wasn't able to get the AC running by myself so i called him back and he came out to my home the same day. He is very friendly and had the AC running quickly. He also did an inspection of my furnace. Ryan seems to really know his stuff and i would definately recommend him.

Ryan was awesome! Earlier in the day he offered solutions so I wouldn't have to pay for a service call, I wasn't able to fix it so he said he would come out later in the evening. He was very friendly and explained what the issue was and what my options were. He was very knowledgeable and professional, he definitely knows what he is doing. I will certainly use him again and refer him to others.

Ryan came shortly after his expected time. He was very courteous and professional. Was able to fix the situation and recommend an electrician to avoid future issues.

We were very impressed with Ryan. His was not the only quote we received, but it was unique in that he did not offer some of the more popular brands. He took time and explained to us why they would not be the best choices (scarcity of parts, poor service from manufacturer). Ryan placed no pressure on us to order from him, but he did take time to explain everything that he did in trying to save us from the expense of a new unit. He is very personable and seems honest. We went with a bigger unit, which was installed two days after ordering. Ryan and his assistant were professional and quick (yet thorough). I would not hesitate to use this company again (if furnace fails) or to recommend him to others.

I reached Ryan on his cell phone in the morning and he said that he would be out either in the morning or in the afternoon, he wan't sure. He tried to minimize my cost by suggesting that it might just be an air filter issue - he asked me to pull the air filter and then run the unit to see if it would work better eliminating the need for him to come out. We have an electronic air cleaning system which has a (fairly expensive) air filter. I agreed to try but still wanted him to come out to check on the coolant situation. I called him back later in the day to let him know that the air filter was stuck and I couldn't test. He confirmed that he was still coming out but that it would be in the evening. When he arrived, he was very courteous and took care of checking the pressure in the one unit and got the filter out of the air cleaning unit. He changed the filter and let me know that if I agreed to a full check up for both units, he would only charge me for the air filter and no service fee. I agreed as I want to make sure that both units are in good condition. I would use him again and would recommend him to others.

He said we will be out this afternoon and hr would call ahead of time. At 3 pm there was no call. I called to ask what was going on. He said they might be there at 8 or 9 that night. That did not tell me if they were coming or not. If I wait to see if he is going to come out or not I will not be able to get service from other people. UPDATE He did eventually make it out and he did a great job. I didn't know he was under staffed and that was the reason for his scheduling problems. He even fixed a problem we were unaware of that could have caused a house fire.

Ryan was fantastic, prompt, thoughtful and professional. He gave us multiple viable options. He did what he said he would do, and worked with us on options that fit our budget. He gave free troubleshooting advice over the phone, and came out on a Sunday initially since we were in a bind. I would not hesitate to use him in the future, and HIGHLY recommend his services.
