Excellent. The technician thoroughly described to me the problem and how to prevent it from happening in the future, performed an extra check on my furnace and helped level out my AC unit which had sloped forward.

The tech took cover off ac unit, tested it, checked breaker in basement and tested it, said my ac was using 14-15 amps on a 40 amp breaker so was completely fine, put new batteries in thermostat.

Ryan is very knowledgeable and friendly. He performed all work efficiently and explained things to us about our furnaces' installation (we have 2) that we did not know. Very professional and honest, the kind of contractor you hope for but often is not found these days. Ryan came out and inspected my existing furnace, which was quite old. As he inspected it, he explained everything he was doing and everything he saw. He was very professional and very pleasant. He tried to explain everything in terms that I would understand. My furnace was quite old and needed to be replaced. Ryan gave me a great option for replacing my furnace. Later that day he called to ask if I had any questions. I had 1st Heating and Cooling replace my furnace. The guys that came out to do the work were very professional and very concerned about covering my floor and my washer and dryer to be sure that they were kept clean and didn't get damaged. They worked diligently and explained things to me as they went along. They did a great job and even cleaned up everything before they left. I would call 1st Heating and Cooling again in the future without hesitation, and I would definitely recommend them to anyone looking for a heating and cooling company.

I woke up Saturday morning finding my 2 yr old furnace not working. I called the contractor who installed and was told they were too busy and can't come until Monday a.m. With below freezing temperatures that wasn't working for me. I called another contractor who told me the same story. So when Ryan owner of 1st Heating and Cooling said he would be here within hour and half, I was very grateful. He was professional, courteous and got my furnace back running. I would definitely recommend him in the future. I will be calling my contractor back who installed my furnace for answers...

Discussed some other issues regarding hot water tank and furnace exhaust and he is providing me with replacement options and an estimate to fix furnace exhaust. Will have them back to do AC tuneup in the spring.

Ryan is great. He really knows his stuff and is passionate about the quality of his work. I appreciated how he took the time to discuss what was going on, described a bit on how the AC system works and told me what he was doing while he was fixing it. He is very honest in his work. They were able to come yesterday when I talked to them. They came in and did the inspection, and just looked at the A/C, visually checked some refrigerant and said everything was okay. I did not know whether it was worth to give $100. It was a service call. The 22 point inspection was not 22 points and they had a technician who was a young kid. I don't know if he is really experienced.

Everything went great. The guys spent the whole day here, only taking a break for lunch. They were very professional, and very respectful of my house. Anytime I asked a question, they took all the time necessary to explain it to me. I have dealt with Ryan before, and he has always been a pleasure to deal with. He takes pride in his business, and it shows. His crew knows what they are doing, and do an exemplary job. The very next day, Amy, his office manager, called me to get the energy rebate applications started. Shortly there after, I received confirmations from both DTE and Consumers Power that they were reviewing my rebate applications. She is right on top of things. I will not hesitate to use, or recommend 1st Heating and Cooling in the future. As contractors go, they are one of the best!

My husband and I were having difficulty getting a heating/ac company to come to our house for various reasons. I went to Angieslist.com where I found 1st Heating and Cooling and owner, Ryan Bieri. I liked that this company seemed to be a smaller, local company and that it had excellent ratings and comments on Angieslist. I was able to reach Ryan right away, and he came to our house the next day to check our furnace, ac, humidifier needs, and rooftop faux chimney. Ryan has years of experience in this field and seemed very knowledgeable and honest. He appeared to really want to solve the customer's problems even recommending an Aprilaire 600 humidifier over the 500 as had been recommended by other companies I had talked to on the phone. His price for the 600 was even lower than the price given by four other companies for the 500. Ryan said our ac was top of the line and needed no attention. He said our furnace was about 18 years old and had parts that were questionable and costly to repair, separately. Our furnace seemed to be working ok, and he did not pressure us to buy a new furnace by any means. We had just moved to this smaller, ranch house in April, 2015 and have had to do quite a bit to the house. Because we wanted top efficiency and no problems down the road, we decided to go with both the furnace and humidifier. Ryan gave us an additional $50 discount for the humidifier because we were getting a furnace at the same time. Also, the original Amana 95 high-efficiency furnace was not available, so Ryan upgraded us to the 96.1 furnace at no additional cost. He also handles the paperwork for us to receive about a $350 rebate from Consumer's Energy. His installation crew worked very hard over two days as our space is very cramped where the furnace and humidifier were going. Several parts had to be made to support the furnace, but there was no additional charge for that. We would highly recommend Ryan and his company. Ryan and his installation crew are friendly, knowledgeable, and very professional.

I have waited to put in my review because we had some problems to resolve. All were resolved and the final result was that it all works fine and the provider and employees were great. I am very happy with my choice and the work done.

Don't look for another heating and cooling company - just call Ryan. I bought an Aprilaire 5000 whole house air filter. My existing filter needed to be removed, duct work needed to be significantly modified, then the new filter installed. I called Ryan for a quote. Ryan said "if you had the ductwork, would you want to do this yourself? Of course, we can come out and install if for you, but, you sound pretty handy and you can save yourself some money". I gave him the rough measurements over the phone, he had the sheet metal fabricated and dropped it off at my house 2 days later. Total cost - $90. I had Ryan inspect my furnace when he was at my house. He found significant cracks in the heat exchanger that were definitely leaking carbon monoxide into my house. Since my furnace is 25 years old, i decided to replace it. Ryan gave me a very competitive quote and will perform the installation on Monday (after coming to my house on Friday). Great communication, honesty, service, price. Don't go anywhere else! Mark

I contacted 1st after reading so many positive reviews on Angie List. They did not disappoint! I was only looking to setup a furnace cleaning and humidifier check. I called on a weekend night, expecting to leave a message and Ryan answered the phone. He scheduled a visit for the next week and was on time. During the cleaning he found several issues with our furnace and humidifier (they were 20 years old). He went through options with no pressure and left without charging me a dime! I would have gladly bought our new furnace from him but we have a retired family friend who we use for furnace installations. I would highly recommend!

The installation was a dream and Ryan and his associates were wonderful. When the township inspector reviewed the work to complete the permit, he said he had rarely seen such professional ductwork and overall installation. The whole project couldn't have gone more smoothly and the furnace and air conditioning unit Ryan recommended have been wonderful in this cold, cold winter. The only item that could have gone a little better was that it took them quite a long time to file the paperwork for my utility company rebate and even that was eventually successfully completed. I would recommend them to anyone

Our furnace quit late Fri. Night. We got up to a cold house, and my husband has health issues.We asked our neighbor whom he had used, and got the referral to 1st heating and cooling.Ryan was here within 4 hours of our call.Showed us what was wrong, with cell phone pictures from inside the furnace[which my husband watched him take] I guess our 1978 furnace finally gave it up! And there was a small crack in the heat exchanger,too. Yikes! Ryan gave us a number of options to choose, we made our choice,and he said it would be installed on Mon. But, that's not all. He came back in an hour with a temporary furnace, which he hooked up, so that we would have heat until Mon.That's the first I've ever heard of that.Worked great, too. On MOn., he and his assistant arrived around nine AM,Installed our furnace in about 4 hours. It works well, we are warm and happy, the price was good, and so the was the service.

I cannot speak enough praise of Ryan's services. He is always friendly, professional, and full of heating/ cooling knowledge! We were so pleased with his prompt response to our air conditioner replacement that we called him back a week later when the great flood of Clawson destroyed our furnace. He is honest with prices and willing to explain the process. We are very happy to recommend 1st Heating and Cooling and will certainly be using them again in the future.

Ryan was awesome. When I called about a noise from our AC, he gave me suggestions to resolve it over the phone. When it didn't fix the issue, we were able to schedule a visit the next day to check and clean our system. He was held up at another job and called to apologize because he was delayed and asked if it was ok to come later in the day. He also called to tell me when he was on his way. Ryan spent a lot of time with me reviewing the entire HVAC system and giving me tips and suggestions on yearly maintenance. He showed me everything during his inspection and gave me age/condition estimates and also told me about the quality of the parts and the system in general. It was obvious that he is really knowledgeable and cares if you understand how everything works! He found the source of the noise issue and was able to reduce the sound by adjusting the speed of the blower motor (which was ok in our system since it was oversized for our home anyway). He also gave me an estimate for what it would cost to replace the motor. He was very honest about the options and condition of the parts and didn't recommend replacing anything unless the noise became a big issue for us. The best thing about Ryan is that he taught me while he worked and I never felt that any question I asked was a bother to him. I now know how to take care of our system and he showed me what to keep an eye on in the future. He was also really nice, funny and a pleasure to have around! Call him first, you won't be disappointed!

My A/C went out and, since it is rather old, I was certain that I would have to completely replace it. I called a couple of Angie's List providers, and Ryan was the only one who agreed to come out the same day. He took one look and told me that he thought I was in luck - indeed I was! I only had to replace the capacitor, which he had on his truck. The A/C was fixed in a matter of minutes and he checked to be sure that the rest of the system was operating properly.

My 80 year old mom's AC was constantly needing Freon and we decided it was time to replace it. Ryan came out quickly and not only gave us a very fair estimate for the work, but really went above and beyond. First of all, he asked me if he could pick up anything for her on the way to her house like a cup of coffee, milk or anything from the store. After he gave her his estimate, he offered to take out her garbage since it was garbage day. He also spent some time just talking to her and getting to know her. He also noticed a major fire hazard with her poorly installed dryer vent and for no charge, corrected it and made sure it was clean and safe. I was really blown away by how much he cared. The job was competed quickly, at a fair price, and by someone I will now use for all of our heating and AC needs. He and his team were awesome!

Ryan answered my call on Monday and visited Tuesday morning and identified root cause of the problem. He provided options for repair and estimates for each option. I decided to go forward with coil drip pan replacement, and he facilitated overnight shipment of part. The unit was repaired by Wednesday afternoon! This was a welcome relief after the initial service call from another larger HVAC company (not Amana authorized) resulted in a recommendation to replace entire AC unit. Ryan provided excellent detail on the root cause of the issue with the AC unit and turned around the repair in an extremely short period of time. He was flexible on his service times and performed the repair while I was at work. He was able to process a credit card over the phone (unlike a second larger HVAC company) since I was not able to be home at the time of the repair. Excellent experience with 1st Heating and Cooling!

Ryan and his crew were great. Once we made a decision to go with him, he was there the next day to start on the project. He explained all of our options. It took about a week for the entire installation. After dealing with a couple other companies that were either rude or wouldn't do the project until after the summer, it was a nice change of pace to actually deal with a very nice crew. The only reason I didn't give him an A for responsiveness is that it took over a week to get the quote. Since it is the summer, I understood that they are very busy. We will definitely recommend them and use them again.
