They were on time, haven't had any problems since date of service, which was two years ago. They were reasonable in their pricing and would recommend them to anyone.

Our experience with them was good. That is the reason why we are going with them. They came out and were attentive. The person who came couldn’t give us an estimate on the gutters. So he had someone else come out from the group and talk to us. Everything was set up nicely. It worked well. They showed up on time every time. They will be doing the work for us.

So... even though they called to reschedule and my husband had to take an additonal afternoon off work, only to have them show up so late that he ended up just having to let them in and leave because we had a prior appointment... and even though they left latex gloves sitting in the bush in front of my house (thanks guys, you walked right by the garbage can...).. I was still moderately happy and was going to have them perform the same service at my dad's house. However, my experience with their office manager has left me saying NO WAY, NEVER AGAIN. In the only phone call I ever received from them, he swore at me, insulted me and was screaming so loudly I had to leave my office just so I could get loud enough for him to hear me. I said "I want to pay this bill. Right now. It was my understanding it was settled at the time of service, but I want to speak with someone other than you". He responded "Who the h%&^ do you think you're talking to?! Have you taken your medication today?! I'm the OFFICE MANAGER. Pay your D@%$ bill!" Well, needless to say, I did 'pay my D@S% bill' about ten minutes later after I was finally able to speak to someone else. I was very disappointed that the staff, who actually heard what Charlie was saying to me, seemed to have a better grasp of how inappropriate, unecessary and rediculous this man's behavior was than the owner of the business. The owner apologized and then went on to explain that everyone there is under a lot of stress... Not really an appropriate response. Professionalism? F. It makes me sick that I paid a few grand only to be treated this way. Anyway, bottom line is I will not be having them perform any other services at my house or the planned waterproofing at my father's. Considering I know now the type of people they employ and tolerate, I'm not surprised their business is experiencing "Stress".

We had the entire exterior of our home waterproofed by SAS. They did a terrific job on keeping the outside of my home neat and clean during the job and looking pretty much exactly as it did before they started once it was finished. They also did some work in our crawlspace which included raising the floor in certain problem areas, adding sister beams and installing a crawlspace access door. The whole SAS crew was very friendly, trustworthy and professional the entire time on the job. Joe the foreman kept us very informed and updated during the entire process from beginning to end. When unexpected issues came up during the job we were notified right away. I would highly recommend SAS for any type of construction work you may need.

We purchased our home in June 2012. The underwriter for our homeowner's policy cited us for deteriorating slate flag stone steps from our back door to the patio. We had about 6 weeks from the time of the citation to the deadline. We had several contractors bid the job. Two or three wanted to replace the flagstone with pavers. My wife was not interested. We had two contractors that were willing to do what we wanted, working with the original stone, One was priced high. The other did not return calls after the estimate. The deadline was approaching and we were getting desperate. SAS had a lawn sign for a driveway job in our neighborhood. I called. The owner came to bid the job. He had a nice personality, very upbeat, and fairly prompt for the appointment. He was willing to work with our slate. The bid was a little high, but we were desperate. I asked him to break the bid down to removal and preparation as the first step (so that the steps would at least be safe and pass the inspection), and replacement and finishing as the second step, agreeing to complete the work after the underwriter?s approval. SAS didn?t start the work until the Thursday before our Monday deadline. One worker came to start the work. He made as much progress as he could. He didn?t have the grinder that he needed. The owner said he would bring it when they finished using it on another job. Friday came and went without a worker. I called the owner and left messages that were not returned. Saturday came and went. I was getting nervous, assuming that they wouldn?t work on Sunday, the last day before the deadline. Sunday the worker showed up, the owner came to drop off the grinder and told me no need to worry, of course they work on Sundays. I couldn?t know, because he wasn?t returning my calls. The work (just the prep, no replacement) got done in the nick of time. I took pictures and printed them, dropped them off to the insurer with a copy of the invoice, and cleared the citation. The owner never called to follow up for completing the job, which was just as well. We found another contractor to finish the job for about half of what SAS bid for the replacement part of the job. They were nice and did a good job, but we didn?t need the drama. I think it was a case of the company putting low priority on a small job.
Description of Work: Removal of old slate flagstone on steps, cleaning old mortar from slate and steps, laying base cement for foundation to replace slate. We had separate bids for preparation and replacement. We didn't have this company do the replacement, only the preparation.

After they left, I checked and it appeared, that there is a 1/2" gap in the front between the floor and the toilet bowl!. They didn't level it all the way and the toilet wobbled! This is not, what I expected from a company with good reviews on Angie's list. I had to put a few spacers in and caulk it all around again. There is no way I am using their services again. Bottom line - SAS is a plumbing company, who don't know, how to mount a toilet! This is simply pathetic!

Bought my first house in the beginning of Demeber 2012 and needed some waterproofing done in the basement (and I decided to add a toilet down there too). I did my due dilligence and had 6 companies come out and give me estimates. They all pretty much gave me the same general information, but prices varried from $4,000 - $7,000. I went with the least expensive company (SAS). I really wasn't interested in getting the work done for a few months, but Jason (the salesman) gave me the whole "trying to keep the crew working during the winter" speech so I went ahead and scheduled the work in December. Jason was polite and professional during his visit. The crew came out and did the work in one day and were also very polite. It wasn't until the work was complete and I saw what they did to my basement, driveway, and brand new neighbor's yard that the problems started. I read the reviews on Angies List and they were all positive, but that just wasn't the experience that I got from what I saw. They made a big mess of my basement, driveway, and neighbor's yard (i am including before and after pictures). Here is the email I sent to the company after I saw the mess.... Hi Wendy, Per our discussion today, here are some photos of the work done to my basement. Like I said, the guys that came out were very friendly and polite, but after reading the reviews on Angie's List about how well your team cleaned up after they were done with a job, I can't help believing the job done at my house wasn't up to par. The basement was completely messy, there was cement mix (I think that is what it was) in the sink, there are stains on my driveway (I don't even know if those will come out), and my neighbor's front yard is messed up (and they weren't really happy about that). Imagine how that makes me look - I just moved in and a week later the neighbor's yard get's messed up from a contractor I had come out.... Additionally, the plumber came out to install the piping for the toilet and the piping is completely unleveled (I included a picture of the piping with a level on it so you can see how unleveled it is). He also left a lot of chunky cement in the area around the toilet, which is going to make it very difficult for me to put down a level floor. I called Jason about this and he is sending the plumber back out to redo the piping either today or tomorrow, so hopefully that gets taken care of in the next day or so. Like I said, after reading the reviews you had and how professional Jason was with me, I just don't feel I got the same level of care that your company usually provides. I am remodeling my house on a tight timeline, so I went ahead and cleaned the basement. I am not sure if you can rectify this situation or if I need to speak to the owner of the company? I look forward to your response. Please call me at 313-***-**** Thank you, Afterwards I received a call from one of the crewmen that came out to my house to ask about my concerns. I asked him if he had seen the pictures and if that was the level of work they provide and he was aplogetic for it, but it was clear that he was only apologizing because he was obligated to - completely disingenuous. He said that teh owner had also seen teh pictures and read my email and authorized him to rectify the problem. I explained how embarrassint it was for me to have to knock on my new neighbors door and apologize for their yard being messed up, his response was "It's only grass" - ARE YOU EFFIN KIDDING ME!?! He offered to send someone out to clean up, but I told him that I had already taken care of it. It was a holiday weekend and I wanted to have guests over to my new house. He offered to take $75.00 off the bill and when I asked him if that was the best he could do, he said he could take off $100.00. Simply wanting to be done withe whole thing, I accepted. When 2 weeks went buy without receiving my $100 credit, I called the office to ask about it and they said someone would have to call me back. I got a callback from someone who was completely unprofessional and spoke to me like we were on some street corner. Completely taken aback by his rudeness, I asked his name and he said "Steve", and I asked Steve what his position was at SAS? He said he was the owner. He said that they were putting my $75.00 check in the mail today. I told him it was supposed to be $100 and without hesitating he was on the defense, telling me that he spoke with John (the crewman who called me) and was looking at my case notes, and that it says $75, and said "this was for someone stepping on your grass, right?". I asked if he saw the pictures I sent in and read the email I sent in for him to read. He said no!!!!!!!!! I told him John told me he would give me $100 refund and that I also had a voicemail from Linda (in their accounting department) stating that they would be sending me $100. He said "Fine, I have to cancel the $75 check and issue you a new one". So, on top of making a mess at my house, having John (the crewman minimize the fact that he and his crew had done so, nobody sending my email and photos to the owner (which several employees told me they did do), and not sending me my refund check, I was treated like crap by the owner, who pretty much called me a liar and insulted my by acting like all his crewman did was step on my grass. I guess in this case I got what I paid for. TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE.

Went pretty well overall; they worked around a couple hiccups involving city ordinances. Communication during the time of the project was somewhat frustrating; we kept getting notified of changes to the plan after they had already completed them. We haven't had any heavy water yet to tell whether the waterproofing works or not, but they supposedly guarantee it. The positioning of the sump was not optimal; on the initial estimate we agreed that the sump would be located in the front of the house and drain out towards the street. But then they installed it in the back, and the water really doesn't have anywhere to go (we have a 25 foot extension with crawl space in the back yard) so they built a drainage well right by the house; not the best solution in my opinion. One drawback in terms of their patented solution; the drain tile needs to be on a slant, so access pipes stick up several inches from the floor in several corners of the basement. It is going to be rather tricky to try to finish those corners of the basement; I still don't quite understand why they aren't able to cut or set them flush with the basement floor. Also, if you want them to pull a permit, make sure you arrange that ahead of time. Overall, not quite the design that we had in mind or agreed on, but I guess if it works and keeps the water out of the basement, then its ok. I'd give them an overall B rating. Update: The poor location of the sump has continued to plague us; the drainage well caused my neighbor a lot of headaches, and to keep the peace, I had to re-route the water elsewhere. Minor seepage in different parts of the basement, but I really don't want these guys coming out to tear apart my basement again. We were also nonplussed to find out that, with the drainage system provided but the city, an $800 sump system would have achieved the same effect. If you deal with these guys, watch out for the hard sell (where they come in and try to get you to signe right then before talking to anyone else). Make sure they pull all the right permits. Also, make sure that they stick to whatever yoou agreed on (get the plans in writing).

I've had a very small leak in my basement at the chimney, I thought it may be coming from the seam where the porch met the foundation of the house. I phoned SAS from a recommendation by a home fix it radio program; two guys came to my house the same day I phoned. The 3 of us looked the area over. Snow was melting off the roof that day and we discovered that water was running down the chimney because the was no roof flashing at the chimney. The water was soaking through the chimney and into the basement. I hired them to install flashing and new shingles. In about three days a repairman came out and fixed the area. The leak is fixed and my basement has no issues. SAS did a fine job. They were prompt and professional. I will hire them again to work on another property I have.

Since they did no work for me, this report should not be construed as a reflection on the quality of the work they might perform. However, it does reflect on their business attitude.
Description of Work: They did not come out to see the job or provide an estimate. I did set up an appointment and they were supposed to be at my house on July 11, 2011. When they didn't show up I called their office. I was advised that they didn't perform work in my area of Oakland County and had cancelled the appointment. However, nobody bothered to call me let me know they weren't coming, which I think would have been common courtesy. They did provide the name of another company in my area who they said could do the work. I did call that company and left a message on their voice mail, but they never returned the call.
