They do basement waterproofing. They have lifetime warranties and stuff like that. Another guy came out on the 4th and repaired rot hole patching and then the second guy came out and repaired the crack and all together it was $485. I paid for all of it the second time. They were excellent. The price was fair, reasonable. Nothing they did ever opened up on me again. They do a good job. They're reliable. If any thing goes wrong they will come out and fix it because of the warranty. They came out quickly. Professionalism is excellent.
Description of Work: They fixed rot holes in my wall. They came back and fixed a crack in the basement wall.

They kept our deposit after everything listed below. According to their attorney "they took a haircut on this as well" so they would not be refunding my $3000. As if somehow they were not the ones who completely botched the job. Also one thing to note is you do not actually contract with SAS Services Inc, which are the builders license and insurance certificate you receive, you contract with SAS Home Improvement LLC. We only noticed this after we began to demand they refund our money. Obviously this raises concerns. I have pictures, the letter from the Township and all other material electronically but it is too much to include here so I will attempt to summarize. It may be best to start with a quote from the letter the Charter Township of Independence gave us. "After a site visit on 7/29/14 by myself and the Building Inspector it was determined the work performed on the porch, stairs and walkway would not meet the minimum Michigan State Code requirements." We ended up with stairs that ranged from a height of 6 inches to 11 inches, with pitches of of over an inch on the tread. The pitches were off on the walkway and landing. They poured the concrete on the walkway up to the top of the threshold. They replaced our copper downspout with PVC which they were going to "paint". Even after I told them they would have to put something under the front door to stop any water from coming in the house while they were powerwashing because they poured up to the top of the threshold, they did not, and water and concrete grit flowed into the house, onto the hardwood floors and into the tongue and groove. They cut our copper sills on the french doors down with a pair of shears, leaving rough exposed edges. Here is their laughable response to fix some of our problems: From: S Dino [mailto:sdino@1800callsas.com] Sent: Tuesday, July 22, 2014 2:40 PM To: Jason Subject: Re: Jason To finish the job we need to power wash, patch some areas of the concrete , paint the front downspout PVC pipe , add ashphalt to the driveway at the first step, remove front door shave bottom to adjust correctly to fit and remove and raise the threshold to the front door above concrete grade, seal with polyurethane around front porch area and all areas where the concrete meets the house cleanup property and seal concrete. Thank you On Jul 21, 2014 1:59 PM, wrote: Dino, Before we proceed I would like a complete bulleted outline of all work left to be done as well as the proposed remediations. Thank you. Essentially they wanted to add asphalt to build up my driveway to reduce the 11 inch first step and take off my front door and shave the bottom so it could accommodate a higher threshold so it wouldn't look like the concrete was poured up to the top There is more, it was a comedy of errors, an expensive comedy of errors. After months of back and forth we finally decided to stop communicating with SAS and take our own action.
Description of Work: SAS was supposed to overlay an existing patio, steps, install a new walkway and waterproof and lay another walkway against the house.

We hired SAS to fix our ongoing situation with water leaking into my mother-in-law's home after every rainfall and snowmelt. I was extremely impressed with their quick responsiveness and patience in working around my crazy schedule in order to have someone come out to give us a quote. Seeing that I don't live where the work was being performed, I was expecting this to be a logistical nightmare. I am happy to report that the communication between myself and the crew foreman couldn't have been any smoother. I appreciated the fact that any possible challenges related to our situation were clearly explained before the work began and any time I had a question I could call the foreman directly. My mother-in-law and my wife were very impressed with the clean-up performed by the crew once the work was done. The exterior of the house was so pristine and everything placed exactly how it was prior to the excavation. I can't say enough about how pleased we are with SAS Services, both with their work and their promises delivered. I have already given their number to others needing waterproofing work done and will certainly continue to sing their praises!
Description of Work: Performed outside excavation. The area was excavated by hand-digging. Drain tiles were replaced and area was back-filled with pea stone.

YOU DO NOT WANT TO USE THIS COMPANY SEPTEMBER 2013 When I was getting my quotes I was really happy with how knowledgeable and nice my salesman was. When the job was done they were all nice and respectful. When doing the garage one of the doors inside the house next to the garage had shifted so it didn't close properly and they fixed it. But, when doing the porch I was asked about the height of the porch. I told him that the previous porch was 2-3 inches higher and that what he was measuring from was not where someone would step to get into the house. I told him that where you step is about 2 inches higher than where he was measuring from. Since he would have had to redo the forms I think he decided to keep it as it was. After having the work done stepping out of my front porch is not comfortable because the height of the porch is too far away. I contacted my salesman about this and he eventually came to look at it after a few calls and months later. After not getting anywhere with the salesman I called the office to talk to the owner. When he came out to look I explained what had happened when the porch and steps were done. I've not heard back from them since that meeting. I picked this company because they seemed knowledgable, were nice and had good reviews here on Angies List. Price with them was in the middle, not the least or most expensive. JUNE 2015 DRIVEWAY IS NOW CRACKING! Since the work was done and no response from my prior issues my driveway has now developed a large crack in it. I have some rental houses and have never had a company completely ignore issues with a job they did. I have a job that needs to be done at one of my rentals and there is no way I'll call them for this.
Description of Work: Replaced front porch and steps that were pavers with concrete. Removed and replaced my driveway (with drain system) and garage floor.

I had two companies come out to the house to give estimates; I ended up going with SAS because of price and they could fit me in sooner. We scheduled a day for them to come out and start the exterior work. I was told they?d be at my house early in the morning; I was given a two hour window. An hour after that window, I called the phone number on the handy folder they had provided. The receptionist had no record of my appointment, my estimate, nothing until I told her it was an exterior job. She had to call the man in charge of the exterior jobs and then call me back. She told me that I had messed up the days and the appointment was for the following week. I didn?t believe I made a mistake as I was going out of town on this particular day so had specifically made sure that they would be done early in the morning, but whatever, people make mistakes. They came out to the house the following week, I put a check in the mail, and the leak seemed to be fixed. A few weeks later, I noticed that the basement was leaking (previously it had been the family room) directly below the area that they waterproofed. I called SAS back and an appointment was made for a Saturday. I received a call Friday morning to cancel the appointment because it was supposed to rain and I was told I?d receive a call Friday afternoon to reschedule. It did not rain and I didn?t receive a call until the following Tuesday at 8PM (a little late I?d say for a professional phone call!) rescheduling my appointment for 3 weeks out. I wasn?thappy of course, so I called and had to leave a message to confirm the appointment time. I received another call back two days later, again at 8PM confirming the time. I specifically took the day off work so I could be home since this involved interior work as well. On the day of the appointment, I received no call and no one showed up. Ninety minutes after the appointment window, I called the number on my folder once again and went through the same ridiculous process of no record of my appointment/my account/etc. Finally, the man in charge of exterior work called me and said that due to the rain over the weekend (this was a Monday), they were a few days behind so he?d have to reschedule my appointment. I had a few issues with this. First, why was there no call to let me know? And why is someone else?s water issue (due to rain) more important than mine? I did not feel like a valued customer based on the constant rescheduling, the no calls, etc. Apparently, the customer?s time is not as valuable as the company?s. I was also informed that this appointment was only to come look at the issue, not to fix it (even though they?d been to my house before!) So I had to make another TWO appointments - one to review the issue, and another to fix the issue. They were able to come out two days later and schedule the work two weeks after that. Joe was very apologetic and did not charge me for the extra work, which I appreciated based on my experience. Finally, three guys came over yesterday to complete the interior and exterior work. They were extremely unfriendly, did not cover their boots as they went from outside to inside, did not put down runners or anything to protect my floor, and switched off my boiler but did not bother to let me know or turn it back on (I figured it out in the middle of the night as my family froze). Overall, I appreciate that the company tried to make amends for a poor customer experience but I would not recommend this company if you have waterproofing needs.

I can't say enough good things about this company .From the beginning of the job until the end, the men worked hard to get the job done in a timely manner. They arrived early at the job site and often left late. The improvements they made to my home enhanced it's curb appeal greatly! The workmanship is impeccable.I'm very happy with how the job turned out and how neat they left the site. And the man orchestrating the entire project(The contractor)was polite, organized and professional...returning my calls and addressing all of my concerns and questions. In fact all of the workmen were professional and polite. My experience with this company is 5 star. I would highly recommend them to friends and family. Thanks again SAS!

I called SAS to have them give me an estimate on a property I ow that is rented out through a property manager. I spoke with someone by the name of Christine. I asked that they contact the property management company to set up a time for them to go into the house. She seemed perturbed that she would have to contact the property management company to set up a good time for the company to do the estimate. She just didn't seem like she wanted my business. Luckily, I have contacted two other companies listed on Angies List that were more than happy to work with me and they are both doing the estimate for free.

We contacted SAS Services after seeing their signs on a few residential lawns throughout our subdivision to fix our bowing basement walls. If you are looking for a reputable, professional and reliable waterproofing contractor, do yourself a favor and don't look any further than SAS! I never once felt that we were being "sold" anything and I greatly appreciated that. We were thoroughly impressed with the crew that was sent to work on our walls. They were extremely courteous, professional and it was obvious that the men took pride in their work. They left the work site clean at the end of the project and were more than happy to answer any questions that I had during the process. I can't say enough about our experience with SAS Services and will use them again, if the need arises, and will most certainly recommend them to our family and friends.

We contacted SAS Services to perform outside excavation to stop our basement from continuously flooding. We had done our homework and contacted three companies to evaluate our basement. I was extremely impressed with the professionalism of the representative sent to our home to evaluate our situation. Once the determination was made that the only way to truly fix our water issue was to have an exterior excavation done (there was no way to access the 30ft wall that was giving us the trouble from the inside of the house), I was reassured that this was the right company for the job when I was provided with a detailed explanation of how the excavation would solve my water issues. Furthermore, I did not feel pressured to make any decisions or agree to any work being started, which was extremely refreshing. Once the excavation started, I was pleasantly surprised at how tidy the workers kept the outside of the house, despite being forewarned that it would be a (very) messy job. As we were told prior to agreeing to the service, the landscaping on the side of my house needed to be fixed, but nothing that couldn't be fixed once the work was completed and I was very happy that it wasn't a surprise. Throughout the entire process the workers were extremely cognisant of making sure everything was as clean-looking as possible and once the work was done I was extremely pleased that they left the outside of our home extremely clean. I would recommend SAS Services to anyone looking to hire a professional, courteous and competitively-priced waterproofing company. Our experience was nothing less than wonderful!

In a word: Awesome. The crew was fantastic. They were punctual, professional, personable and did excellent work. Clean-up exceeded my expectations. They wanted to make sure I was completely satisfied with the job, and I was. Each part of the job was explained to me ahead of time, and it went as planned. My only complaint is with the communication. I had booked this in July with a 25% deposit, and had not heard a word until late September, when I called SAS. Then the ball got rolling. Perhaps my expectations were too high. All in all, SAS came recommended to me highly, and I will pay it forward. They are great.

mWe recently discovered a leak in out basement. Because worst case scenarios always happens to me, I was afraid we were going to be told our entire basement needed waterproofing, thus having to shell out a great deal of money with the holidays right around the corner. We contacted two local waterproofing contractors and decided to use SAS, and I am very glad we did. Rather than selling us service we did not need, we were told all we needed was a crack injection at the site of the leak to solve our problem and that the work would be covered by their lifetime guarantee. I was most pleased that there were no SUPRISES once the crew showed up to work. THey peformed exactly the work that was discussed with us at our consultation and nothing more. The crew was prompt, courteous and professional while in our home and cleaned up after themselves when they finished. We would certainly recommend SAS Service to anyone looking for a reputabe, honest contractor. I will always call SAS Service when I need work done. I will recomend this company to everyone.

I'm a big fan of listing Pro's and Con's- especially when writing company reviews. So here goes my list regarding my past experience with SAS Services, Inc: Pro's -Professional -Courteous -Prompt -Great Customer Service -Life Time Guarantee Con's -NONE I want to commend SAS Services for their professionalism and quality from my initial phone call for an estimate throughout the work performed and the thoroughness of the clean up of the entire job, I am confident I chose the best company to waterproof my basement. After three different consultations from waterproofing companies, I chose SAS Services for two reasons: I didn't feel as though I was being treated as the "helpless" female by the SAS Representative since I am not well versed in waterproofing and the price (with the life time guarantee) is what made the decision easy to have SAS Services waterproof my basement.

We hired SAS Services to repair two cracks that we found in our basement and we couldn't be happier that we chose this company over the other contractors that we had give us estimates! I can honestly say that every encounter we had with everyone from SAS from our first contact through the job's completion was nothing short of positive. The gentleman who came to our house to discuss the work and cost was extremely knowledgeable and forthright. We appreciated his candor and did not feel any pressure to commit to having the work done by them. Despite their price not being the lowest (the estimate they gave us was in-between the prices quoted by the other two contractors that took a look our basement), we decided to hire them. The work was done swiftly and the crew could not have been more courteous and respectful while in our home. Once finished, the crew cleaned any mess that may have occurred during the process, which is sadly not common with contractors today. Once the work was completed we received a follow-up phone call to inquire as to our satisfaction with the work, employees and our overall experience. That was a very nice touch and I was glad to report that everything went extremely smoothly. We would most certainly recommend SAS Services to anyone searching for a competent, honest and talented waterproofing company.

We had been putting off the inevitable task of having an interior drain system (as well as a sump pump and back-up sump pump) installed in our home, not only because of the expense but also because of of the hassle of coordinating our schedules to accomodate the contractors...but, when push came to shove it had to be done and because our positive previous experience with SAS Services we felt extremely comfortable asking them to give us an estimate for this project. My husband and I were very pleased with the entire process with SAS. The estimate provided to us was exactly what we were billed (no surprises!), the workers courteous and knowledgeable, worked quickly and cleaned any messes that were made prior to them leaving our home. I would hire them again and again and encourage any one to do so, as well!

I contracted with SAS to replace my roof sheathing, soffit baffles and shingles on my ranch home. Their price was average and the sales staff assured me the job would be done right. The results were anything from being anywhere close to being right. I went up into the attic and onto the roof to inspect the job. I should have done this prior to paying them but on the day they finished, a storm blew down trees on my property causing various damage which distracted me from doing a detailed inspection. I ended up paying them and they left. When I was later on the roof, I collected a bucket full of debris - nails, staples, excess shingles, etc - and the gutters were full of debris. The chimney flashing was obviously incorrect; a bathroom vent installation (that they originally forgot and had to add after the fact) was sloppy and had a large amount of caulk to cover the mess. There were lumps at the lowest part of the roof, and there was a noticeable dip in the roof itself. While in the attic, I found water was coming in and found that the vent pipe was broken allowing heavy rain water to bypass the vent and go into the attic. I saw where the baffles were either missing, not stapled or crushed (thus not allowing me to add more insulation without covering the soffit area). This really concerns me as one area of my roof is not accessible and covers a cathedral ceiling and I suspect the same sloppy work which will negatively affect my ventilation. Also, one of the bathroom vent pipes was left detached, lying on the attic floor. When they were doing the job, there was also very heavy banging which I assumed was their dropping shingle bundles, etc. I probably should have said something, but did not - the result was cracking of my ceiling in one bedroom. Also, as they were cleaning up, they said I had 3 full shingle bundles and about 1/2 of a bundle of loose shingles and they said were mine as I had paid for them (I was thankful as I have a shed that I wanted to re-shingle on my own). However they ended up taking the 3 full bundles telling me the sales person (who was never on site during or after the job) said they were not making enough money and to take the extra 3 bundles. The list goes on and on - a completely unsatisfied experience. It is not like the price was the lowest quote - it was middle of the road and I expect quality and professional service for the price and was told it would be as such. When I called my sales person telling them about the issues I discovered he told me to call the office in the morning. All he said was they would fix things and basically was no help to me whatsoever with no follow-up either. It took some time before the crew leader came to check into my issues - and it was not pleasant - I was basically being told that someone must have pulled off the bathroom vent, ripped staples out of the baffles, etc. And also he complained that I had the chimney flashing incorrect - which leads me to believe that the stepflashing is either incorrect or missing altogether - by the way, it was SAS who re-did my chimney just prior to SAS doing the roof, and the chimney workers said they installed temporary flashing and their roofers would do the permanent flashing. I finally was able to get the crew leader to agree to fix some items. His fixes were as sloppy as the original and really addressed very little. He fixed the vent pipe, but while doing so, he managed to unseat the pipe just 10 inches up (I fixed this myself). He said the lumps were do to the 1x6s that was installed - oh, by the way, that was the one area where my soffit was bad and his crew replaced it. He re-did the flashing (not step flashing) on one chimney and left an ugly bubble-like appearance. The baffles are still a sloppy mess. He said he spoke with the owner and they agreed it was too expensive to do anything about the dip in the roof. I agreed with him that this was a defect on my roof rafters - but it would have been very noticeable to his crew as they were putting on new roof sheathing and they could have easily applied shims/sisters to the sides of the existing roof rafters - and I would have paid them for the extras - his response was they did not do carpentry and it was not their problem. Also, he told me I was wrong to want them to staple the baffles as no one did this - I told him if this was the case, then how could new insulation be blown in without covering the baffle and soffit opening - no answer. And yes, I called the company many times and was told that both my sales person and the owner would contact me - neither one ever did. Pay the 10 to 15% extra to get a professional to do your roof - I wish I had. And make sure they are certified and apply the products in a manner consistent with the certification process.
Description of Work: Replaced roof shingles and roof sheathing on ranch home. Was also contracted to re-add soffit baffles (as the existing roof sheathing which the old baffles were attached to was being replaced).

The estimator from SAS Basement Waterproofing came and was knowledgeable. There are two different ways you can do a waterproofing system in the basement and theirs is the better kind. There's another system, a high wall system, that really isn't as effective. I had six people come and give me estimates and talk to me about what they could offer. SAS seemed most knowledgeable and was able to offer to do some other plumbing work for us, because he's also a licensed plumber. I also told him my schedule was really tight and they called on a second crew and added a second crew, just so they can fit my job in. They have an "A-plus" rating on the Better Business Bureau website, as well and they've had zero complaints in the last three years. It was amazing. Honestly, their guys have been fantastic. They were in and out in three days. They did a great job. They're really very thorough, very clean. They cleaned up after themselves really nicely. They're friendly, responsible and hard working. We couldn't be happier. Actually, they have to come back to do some of our finish piping, like to put the toilet in and stuff, which is added toilet. When you're digging up the floor, you might as well do everything.
Description of Work: They waterproofed my basement and did some plumbing work for us.
