Flame Furnace Heating and Cooling

As far as I know the technician did a good job. However, my concern is with their communication after the work was done. The technician promised to mail a receipt to me. I never received a receipt in the mail. I called the office at the start of February. The woman who answered the phone said she would mail a receipt right away. I still have yet to receive the receipt. UPDATE: The company finally sent my receipt.

The team that installed my new furnace was wonderful. Before the new install I had a temporary furnace put it to keep us warm, the employee was also terrific. They answered my questions, were considerate of my home and went beyond my expectations.

They did well. We have a service contract with them. They call us regularly.We are extremely satisfied with them. they are very friendly. Before their actual arrival, they do call. They do their job proficiently and we couldn't ask for more. We will continue to use them in the future.

They are very good. To improve I would suggest they provide a more comprehensive evaluation. It ended up that they needed to make two service trips because they did not do a good job completely the first time. So it would have been nice for them to have spent just a little bit more time the first time and get it done right so they did not have to make a second trip. I think the price was reasonable and their quality was good. Their responsiveness was good.

The quality of work was good. The overall time it took for project completion was poor. Logistical issues: salesman was very unresponsive after inital sale & payment. Tech's had to handle scheduling the follow-up work. Two different times Flame did not call to confirm appointments and one time was 4 hours late with no call. Some minor complaints about overall thoroughness of the work. But they did a lot of work in a little amount of time. The humidifier was to be removed from old furnace. They broke it upon removal & tried to charge $500 for a new unit. I argued tooth & nail. Got them down to $200. Wasn't happy after spending $7k+ for new system to argue about a few $100.

My boiler stopped working one evening around 11 p.m. I called my usual boiler repair company (they have an overnight emergency line). No one returned my call, so I called Flame. Flame answered right away and I talked to the technician (John Oman) who told me he could be at my house around 2 a.m. John shows up, temporarily repairs the boiler so we had heat on a cold night, and informs me that Flame will contact me about the replacement parts and repairs. Flame called me later that same morning, and I ordered the part through them. When the part came in, I asked to have John come back out and do the repairs because we liked him so much. He showed up on time, and the boiler was fixed a week later. My family has used Flame for a long time to service their furnaces - some good experiences, some bad experiences. I usually use a competitor because I have a boiler, and boilers are a tricky business. But, overall, it looks like Flame has really picked up their game, and I was impressed. Everyone I spoke with on the phone was very nice and eager to help me. Also, I cannot speak highly enough about John Oman. Polite, professional, and pleasant. I would ask for him again if I need any further work done.

Used them initially for an emergency when our furnace blower went out in -10 degree weather. We initially called another "reputable" company we had used before who didn't show up until late evening - they then thought they could get the blower the next morning but when we called them frantically at 8am the next morning (after running fireplaces to try to heat the home and still having pipes freeze), they then claimed they couldn't get the part until Monday! We found Flame on Angie's List, called them at 8:30am, they were here within a couple of hours. They called the Bryant part warehouse, had them open it for them and got the blower - we had heat by noon after an 8:30am call! They indicated the other company could have done that which would have spared us the horrible cold night and the $$ to fix the pipes.. We were so grateful and impressed by Flame's responsiveness and professionalism, we've used them ever since. They are reliable, honest, and professional - I do not have to worry as I know they are proactively making recommendations for what to watch when they do their inspections and if something does happen, I know they will take care of us quickly! Our water heater purchase went just as smoothly They came out and recommended a great make/model, then came back and installed it quickly and professionally. They took care of the permit with Bloomfield Township so we didn't have to.. We are very happy with the service we've received from this company and would not hesitate to use them again and again!

They were on time. They explained what they were doing, changed my filter, and checked our "vintage" hot water heater and gave it a "tune up" without my asking. They didn't charge me for it. I will continue to use Flame. I have no complaints. They did excellent work for me. I'm enrolled in their service plan and it has made a difference in the costs.

I contacted them after I got home from the hospital and discovered that our furnace was not working. A gentleman came out and showed us the line from where the flood (we had floods in our area that winter). He told me that I needed a new furnace and that a salesman would be back the next day. I told the guy I needed to stay in a hotel and he said they'd cover my hotel bill. I thought that was very sketchy. I called a different company (Pollard Heating & Cooling) and he came out that night and fixed the furnace for less than $100 after going to retrieve the part.

They do a real good job, I have done business with them for thirty eight years.

Ok, pushed to have me sign a contract for service and money would be taken directly from my checking account which I did not want done. I could not pay it monthly myself.

The service was very good. It was easy to schedule an appointment. They were on-time, professional, and courteous. When they came, they noticed an issue with one of the venting to my water heater and he repaired it for me without charging me. It was not a big repair or anything, but he went the extra mile to say that there was an issue there.

Service man was excellent. Did NOT try to sell me un-needed services. Super.

Excellent. I was very impressed with he process they go through from start to finish. Very polite service techs. They left my home very clean and neat.

They show up on time, are efficient and leave a clean workspace when they are done.

Very well. They first clarified at my request what would be do and then did it. They called before coming. They came within the time frame given it took about an hour. They reviewed that inspection results with me. They also didn't seemed bothered by the fact that Xbox games were being noisely played while they worked - true professionals

From start to finish, it was not a very good experience. My time slot to wait was 4pm to 8pm, and at 7:43 the technician called me and stated he would still come out, if I really wanted him to come out this late. Of course I did. I didn't wait four hours for nothing. He then stated he was thirty minutes away. He took 45. He made sure to inform us that he was out in Grosse Point Farms all day and that they must've added us on last minute. Which, I feel was rude because I made my appointment in November. He started right away talking about cracked heat exchanger... Before looking at our furnace. Then low and behold... Our heat exchanger ends up being cracked. He proceeded to ask if we wanted him to finish the tune up. Yes, this is what I paid for. He finished the tune up, but he was there for over an hour. He stated when he left he'd have to document that the furnace was left shut off because of liability reasons, but he left it turned on. The very next morning at 6am... Our heater that had worked just fine the day before stopped working. Needless to say, we got a second opinion on our furnace, and if we end up replacing it, we will not use Flame.

I had been using Flame Furnace exclusively for maintenance of my steam heating system for more than 25 years. I had confidence in them and joined their Gold Plan program every year. This time the technician showed up as scheduled and performed the simple task. He unscrewed the old valve and screwed in another one. Total work time about 15 minutes. As a member of Flame's Gold Club, I was charged no diagnostic fee. I was also given a discount of $36 on the part because of my Gold Plan membership.. So far so good. Then I was given the final bill. It was for $326!. The itemization showed a $195 charge for the part. The rest was labor. I was amazed!. NO time was spent finding the problem... the spewing steam made it obvious. The part was screw-off, screw-on. Result: $131 for the service call. AMAZING! I was suspicious of the $195 charge for a simple valve. I found it listed on the internet at $27.48. I understand that a company deserves a mark-up for keeping parts in inventory, but 1400% is OUTRAGEOUS. My protests to management finally got me some compensation... 1 free year of Gold Plan membership, Not exactly what I wanted from a company that had obviously decided to rip off its loyal clients. I am loyal to Flame no more. They will get no more of my business

I am a "gold plan"member with 2 furnaces (means I pay $20 per furnace, or $40 total) per month so that Flame can service my furnaces at a discounted rate. First I must say for the most part my furnace maintenance has been good and relatively timely. I can NOT say the same for the rest of the services I have requested from Flame. I will summarize. This year I asked for duct cleaning. After the company rescheduled/ cancelled my duct cleaning appointments numerous times I had to file a formal complaint with the company to get my duct cleaning date scheduled. They finally came out an cleaned the ducts more than a month after I initially contacted them and after multiple phone calls. Not what I expected being a "gold plan" member for multiple furnaces for MANY years. I asked Flame to help me with an electrical issue last week. They scheduled a date and time and did not show up. They did not call either before or after the day as well. I filed a formal complaint and have heard nothing back. I asked Flame for a plumbing issue... my hot water in my faucet was not working. They said the faucet cartridge was broken and told me to call them back when i had a new cartridge. After I purchased a $57 cartridge from the plumbing supply company I asked Flame to come back and fix it. After I scheduled an appointment they called the day before the date they were supposed to come back and said they needed to reschedule my appointment. I basically had enough and cancelled altogether. I called another plumber to fix the problem and they told me it was not the cartridge that was the problem but something totally different and fixed the issue. Last time I call Flame for plumbing.

In each instance, the technician arrive on time, having called when on his way. Work is done meticulously. 'Booties' are worn over shoes to keep flooring clean. The guys know their stuff, but are not 'selling' just to make a buck! Refreshing! We continue to use Flame and their annual maintenance program. Completely satisfied in every way.

They came out after hours to fix the problem, were to accept my credit card over the phone for same day service. Their truck was well stocked and they had the part needed to fix the air conditioner.
