Didn't hire. Estimate $4,600 - $4,800. Second company estimate was a couple hundred dollars less. My brother asked me how they can give an estimate without putting a camera down into the line to see what the problem was. Not until the 4th company came out did I hear, "We cannot give you an estimate until we put a camera down into the line to see what the problem is." Made sense to me. They found the problem was the connection from the 2" inside house pipe to the 3" outside pipe and it was replaced. My outside pipe was open and after inserting my hose, he showed it flowing just fine. Cost from 4th company $295.00.

John said I really did not need any work done at this time and said I'd be better off to wait to see if any leaking really does occur. He then discussed proper garbage disposal techniques. When a company is honest and says I don't need the work done, I remember this and call them when work really does need to be done. Thank you John and Shelby Mechanical

Excellent. This was the first time we used Shelby Mechanical. I am not the type of person who is easily impressed but my husband and I were both impressed with the professionalism, promptness, and quality work. I initially called to have routine flushing maintenance done on our two year old water heater; however, while I was on the phone the owner, Ron, informed me that new water heaters no longer require flushing in most cases. He could have easily charged me to do it. Another company had quoted $180 for the job. I then made an appointment to have our sump pump cleaned and checked out. I got an appointment for the next day, Saturday, and John was right on time. He wears booties over his shoes to protect our floors which I very much appreciate. He walked us through our entire plumbing system including the dishwasher and garbage disposal giving us valuable tips on how to keep things running smoothly. In addition, we had a lid that covered and protected our first sump pump, but four years ago we hired a plumber to replace that pump. After he finished the job, he then informed us that the cover won't fit so we had an open pit. John, from Shelby Mechanical, worked with the lid and got it to fit and didn't charge anything additional. We now have a lid that covers the pit. I will definitely hire Shelby Mechanical again.

Plumber arrived on time and when we turned the water back on, no leak. Plumber suggested I tear out the ceiling and call back when I find the leak. Did not charge me for the visit or drive time, or want to charge me plumber's fees for the tear-out, which I thought was pretty cool. I found the leak 20 minutes later, so I called back and another plumber arrived with an hour. He fixed the leak and found other leaks in the same pipe and repaired them, too, at no extra cost. He showed and explained everything he was doing for the repair. When done, he also gave tips on the proper operation of my garbage disposer and startup of my dishwasher. Any plumber that provides tips so you don't have to call a plumber is good plumber in my book. Well Done, Shelby Mechanical! I hope I don't have to, but I will call you again.

We are re-doing our master bath ourselves and were at stand-still because we realized we didn't know how to proceed with connecting our new Schluter drain piece to our existing plumbing. There was very limited access via a whole we had previously cut in the kitchen soffit on the floor below. Justin was awesome! He took the time to view bits of You-tubes we had that showed how the Schluter system works...then he worked in the tight space (saved us from having to rip up the sub-floor upstairs!!) to cut out a bit of old PVC, replaced it with new, and connected our drain piece to the newly installed PVC. He even cleaned out a bit of debris that had been sitting in the trap, tested to be sure water would freely flow and that there were no leaks, and cleaned up everything. Great work by Justin and assistant Shawn!!

They used the snake. They are reliable. You can trust them. They don't goof around. They get the job done and do it good. Pretty good guys. They cleaned up and vacuumed behind themselves. They didn't leave all the dirt and grime.

It turned out I did not need a plumber, after all, but I didn't know this. Water was coming from (what seemed to be) my hot water heater, but it was actually my furnace (who knew so much water could come from the furnace, it was like a small flood). I cannot say enough about Ron, he walked me through quite a few questions until he got to the bottom of it and told me what the problem really was. In the past, I did have a plumber come out and tell me it was an electrician I needed, and I WAS CHARGED even though they left and did nothing. Ron easily could have done this, but he is a straight-up business owner and just wanted to do the right thing and help me out with the real problem. Bless his heart. I will call him again when I do need a plumber! This was a big deal to me because I am a single mom and I have no one to turn to for any help. I easily could have called the wrong plumber and had a different outcome; thank goodness I called Ron. Thanks, Ron!

Wonderful. Had leaky pipe near a gas line in a hard to reach space. Technician was thorough and very prompt. The owner kept us informed the whole time as to when to expect them to arrive as they had many other appointments. Thank You so much for all your help.

Excellent. Ron just about dropped everything to come over and replace the pump which had burned out from running so much (probably due to age). Ron didn't charge any emergency fee like others. His price was the best. The others were outrageously high, and quite frankly, a rip off. On my request he checked the outside drain line to see if it was o.k.

The bottom half of one of the existing toilet was still in place (the tank had broken and I decided to replace the existing toilet with a better model). I found Shelby Mechanical on Angie's List and called them for an estimate to do the replacement. I purchased the new toilet and it was on site. They offer to do the work for what I believed was a fair price. I was very grateful they were able to come the same day. Mike arrived promptly, worked efficiently and did a great job, particularly the caulking. He was very pleasant and upbeat. All the way around I was very pleased.

Superior job, Mike was out about 4 hours after my call. Very informative in explaining what was needed to fix my problems, very professional and took the time to make sure I got the job completed properly as discussed.

I contacted this company and was able to set an appointment on a day that worked for me. He arrived a few minutes early, inspected the pump and explained what kind of pump to put in. Installation was done immediately and the charges were very reasonable. I would recommend and use this company again.

Tony was great!! He fixed a leak under a sink for me and turned on the water to my outside spigot. He explained what he would do and showed me how he fixed it. He was very polite and professional. I recommend him, I will use Shelby Mechanical again. They are a great company to work with. Thank you Ron and Tony!!

Ron called and gave me a quote for the job for purchasing and installing the new pump. He followed up later that day as I asked. I gave him the job and he was able to send out Tony the next day. Tony showed up on time and got right to work. He was personable and explained everything he was doing. He also explained how the pump worked and things I could do to prolong the life (hopefully) of the new pump. I was very happy with the job done and would use the company again.

I called the number listed online early in the morning, before their stated business hours hoping to leave a voicemail. Surprisingly, Ron answered the call and asked how he could help. I explained that I had a small flood (backup) in my basement and assumed I needed someone to come out and snake the drain. Ron looked at the schedule and was able to shift some people around and get someone out to me by 9:30am that same day! Taylor arrived at my property on time and was a super nice guy in his late 20's. He came into the house to take a look in the basement and get a feel for the situation. He agreed that it was probably a root-ball clogging the drain. He was here for about an hour and seemed to really care about the problem and wanted to drive away knowing for certain that my issue was solved. I will be using these guys again. Great experience.

Shelby Mechanical was very efficient and professional. When I originally contacted them, they provided a guidance quote for the work that was requested, and told me if I was interested they would come out to take a look at the work to be performed for a more accurate quote. When I requested it, they came out the next day and the quote did not change from the original guidance quote. We scheduled the work the following Monday at my request. They showed up on time, and were very professional. Work was performed quickly.

Ron was on time for the scheduled appointment. He explained cost and labor required to complete the job and stated he would call later that evening to set up an installation date and time. Following week Dominic and Taylor was at the house to complete the installation of the new water heater. Both were courteous, knowledgeable and went right to work laying down drop cloths to keep everything clean and dry with removal of the old water heater. All work was done to my satisfaction. Perfect, I have a brass fancy kitchen faucet (they don't make them any more), that some people will tell you that is out of date, however I love it, and I did not want to replace it. He had the parts and knew what I needed, I was able to keep my faucet, it would have cost over $ 200.00 to replace it with a different style that I didn't even like. He also worked on 3 different toilets that wasn't flushing right.

Ron from Shelby came out and explained that the yard didn't need to be ripped out. He said that I had been told the underground discharge to the city system might be sagging but that's almost always the case. He pointed out that the water is freezing right before it exits the line inside the house because we have a cosmetic wall covering the line. He explained how we could redo this wall with better venting that should keep the line from freezing. He basically explained how to fix it for very little cost. I think Ron's a stand-up honest guy and I would absolutely call them again for any plumbing issue.

They were courteous, answered all of my questions (I'm inquisitive) and even offered some suggestions on a bathroom reno that I plan to do in the future. Dominic and Taylor used drop cloths to keep my home clean, towels were used to contain the water when emptying the old tank, and they swept up the area when the job was completed. Despite my presence and questions, they worked quickly and efficiently. Both men were professional and knowledgeable about their work. It was obvious that they take pride in what they do. The new water heater took only 1.5 hours to install and they hauled away the old tank. Their attention to the details even made the new pipes look more organized and streamlined than the previous setup.

I called on Tuesday, two days before Thanksgiving. Went to install new toilet in downstairs bath and sink. Toilet flange had broken and using a spanner didn't help because toilet wouldn't seat level and leaked on floor. Called Ron, who was up north but answered my call immediately. He had two of his employees, Dom and Tony, move around a call to take care of me first thing on Wednesday morning. Both arrived on time at 8:30 A.M. Both were extremely professional and knowlegible. Dom assessed the toilet flange and let me know that it was unusable. He cut the pipes in the basement, installed new pipe and new flange while Tony worked on putting in the new faucet and sink. Both completed the work in short order. They cleaned up afterward and caulked the sink and toilet. Both were very personable and friendly and I am extremely pleased with the results. I will highly recommend Shelby Mechanical LLC for any plumbing needs for family and friends. Thanks again,Ron, for helping me out of a jam prior to a holiday.

Shale build up. Couldn't snake it completely with his own bit, but found a bit out of state and came back free of charge to try to bust up the shale further. He was successful! Very professional/pleasure to work with.

Ron showed up promptly to assess the problem and provide advice. I've hired him in the past and know I can trust what he says. He suggested removing the two backup pumps that were there (one electrical, one battery), and replacing them with a single water-powered backup. I decided to take the job one step further and have him replace the primary electrical pump as well because of its age. I felt the price he quoted was fair. On the day of the job, Ron showed up with Dominic and another assistant. Ron had to leave for another job, but from my previous experience with Dominic, I knew I was in good hands. As usual, they did fantastic work. The old spaghetti-mess of plumbing is gone, the new plumbing is neat and professional, and both pumps are working flawlessly. I'm sure I could have found a cheaper price, but at what cost? Given the professionalism and quality of work, the price was a bargain. I went through several hack plumbers over the years before finding this one. Now when I have plumbing needs, I just hire Shelby Mechanical and trust that it will be done right. Highly recommended.
