Salesman came to our house with a three tiered level of carpet choices and a fairly good range of color samples.Paid half upfront and the balance on installation day. Two man installer team was a little late arriving and while professional, they seemed to bicker with each other throughout. They did a good job. The carpet quality and thickness of the under padding. are excellent. And the guys cleaned up after themselves. I just wish they had taken the old carpeting away with them. (They cut it to manageable size, rolled it, and stacked it outside for me to take to the curb for trash pickup days later). I'd recommend the company with these minor reservations.

Quote process was smooth, timely and all questions were answered. Follow ups and signing of the contract was convenient and we set up installation for the following Saturday. Installers showed up on time and got right to work moving furniture. I had purchased additional transitions to existing tile, but the installers were able to use the existing transitions (saved me $40).
The installers were friendly and proffessional. I had forgotten to call in for a credit card purchase (odd process) but they were patient to wait for me to get a Certified Check from my bank.
Work went smoothly, cleanup was good, but the couched could have been vacuumed (frieze sheds a lot initially).
After installation, the tack strips at the tile transitions poked my foot. I called John at the office and he explained that this can happen with frieze since it is a loose pile and you can't use carpet tape with frieze. The other solution would be a transition strip (metal), but those aren't very attractive (and weren't recommended by the salesman anyway).
John said that he could come out and tack them down since the installers can't as its considered "out of code". He promptly showed up that night and did so.
While I understand that this problem doesn't always happen, I would have appreciated a heads up from sales or the installers that this might happen (thank god I don't have a little kid crawling around).
Overall, we are very happy with the product and would use The Carpet Guys again for flooring.

Installers arrived on time, we had already cleared breakables and smaller furniture. They did a quick professional job of installation and cleanup. Next day was trash day so they piled all trash neatly at the street. GREAT INSTALLATION AND OVERALL EXPERIENCE.The only slight negative is that they do not provide financing, so you need to figure that out.

My review is in two parts, but on some categories I just averaged my review. If based only on the carpet some reviews would have been higher.
Carpet: We had carpet installed in Living Room, Hall, and Family Room. Mario and Edward were the installers on our job. They were professional, knowledgeable, friendly and on time. It was a joy to have them in our house. Afterward, all old carpet was removed and taken away.
Hardwood Flooring: The hardwood floor experience kept some reviews lower.Issues with the installation had a lot to do with communication problems between the sub-contractors and ourselves. This involved late arrival and a "no show" including not calling us when another job took longer than estimated. Some flooring was not inspected before being installed and had to be replaced. We had to contact Joe,the owner of The Carpet Guys, who came out to our house and made sure job was put at a priority to get it finished.My wife and I fine it very gratifying to have a business owner stand behind a customer. Thank you Joe for your involvement.

"Hi Member- I am very sorry that your installation took longer than we had expected. Our installation usually does take a little longer than most others because of the fact that we move all of the furniture and pay very close attention to all of the small details that many other companies tend to make a quick breeze through. Our installers also take a long extra step of using a power stretcher above and beyond only using the usual knee kick stretch that most installers use. However, being there until 11pm is unacceptable though and for that I take full responsibility and I am extremely sorry that it inconvenienced you. Usually we are able to knock it out in a more timely manor but at the same time, I want our installers not to rush anything and make sure they do a very good job. As for the carpeting, I double checked your order to make sure you had the proper carpet for your job and indeed you do. Please keep in mind that when carpet is shipped from the mill to us that it is pressure wrapped extremely tight in very large rolls that usually weigh over 1,200 lbs each. Not to mention there are usually anywhere between 40-70 of these very heavy rolls piled on top of each other for several days during freight. For this reason, your new carpet will often look very flat and stiff for the first couple weeks after it is first laid. This is normal. To help make sure your new carpet reaches its full thickness, it is a good idea to use a good powerful upright vacuum and do it often for the first few weeks. Vacuum in both directions making long slow passes each way. The carpet will soon absorb more of the air and humidity and blossom to its full thickness within a short period of time. We very much appreciate your business and we want to make sure you are very happy and if there is anything that we can do to try to make your experience with us more enjoyable or one that you would recommend to your close friends or others, we would like to hear from you. Your feedback is also very important and I appreciate your bringing this to our attention. We will make every effort in the future to try to button up each job in a more timely fashion but at the same time remain in spec with our high standards of quality workmanship."

Overall, both the carpet installation and refinishing of the hardwood went very well. Both crews were professional and efficient. The sales process was straightforward with detailed information and allowed us to make an informed decision about the products we wanted to use. I would use the Carpet Guys again for future work.

My son and I were having dinner a couple of weeks ago and overheard the table next to us talking about a company they recently used to carpet their finished basement. Since we were also shopping around for carpet in our new home, I asked the couple who they used and if they were happy with the company they chose. Not only did they answer my short question, they went on and on for almost 5 minutes about how great their sales person was and how nice the guys were who did their carpet installation work. They woman gave me the business card of her salesman Kevin and told me I should ask for him.I called The Carpet Guys and talked to a very friendly woman on the phone who was very helpful when answering my questions and she was able to get Kevin to come out to our home for a free estimate later that same afternoon.When Kevin came out, I was immediately taken by how friendly this person was. Even though my son and I had already been to almost a dozen carpet stores in the area, I still didn't know too much about carpet or what makes some carpets better than others. Kevin took his time showing me the different types of carpet and several different kinds of styles of carpet. I was very impressed with his knowledge for what he was selling. I was even more impressed with his patients as most of the sales reps that I dealt with earlier that week acted like I was unable to buy without my husband or they were too busy to answer any of my questions. Kevin spent a good hour and a half with me and he measured our 4 bedrooms, stairs, hallway, and great room for carpeting and he also gave us a quote to refinish our hardwood floors inside our kitchen and laundry room. The prices Kevin gave us were better than most of the quotes we had already. There was one that was a little bit cheaper but I felt very comfortable with Kevin and The Carpet Guys had a much better warranty agreement as well. I decided to buy my new carpet from The Carpet Guys and they came out 2 days later to install my new carpeting. The installer Brett and his helper Tom were also extremely courteous and friendly. They got down to work and did a magnificent job on our new carpet. We did get a couple little scratches on our freshly painted wall base but I understand that is normal when carpet is being installed and it only took a couple seconds to touch that up once they were done.I am very happy with my entire experience with The Carpet Guys and I would recommend them to anyone. Never once did I feel pressured to buy anything like I did with on of the other companies I had called out to give us a free price quote. The lady on the phone was polite, my salesperson Kevin was very professional and my carpet installation went smooth and the installers were the nicest folks on Earth. I recommended The Carpet Guys to a co-worker of mine and she also had a similar experience as well. The Carpet Guys are great!!We also are having them come out to do our wood floors once we finish getting everything moved into our new home.

Overall excellent experience. Our Design Consultant, Shawn, did a great job. He arrived on time. He was easy going and did not seem to pressure us at all. He let us take all the time we needed to go through the samples, carry them around to each room, and make a decision. The cost was a bit better than expected and less than other estimates. Would only like to have seen more choice of color, quality, and padding available. We were still able to find a style that we liked and are happy with it. On the installation date, everything was on time and went smoothy. The installers cleaned up well and everything looked great!

I paid for carpeting in two bedrooms as a gift for my daughter. She found this company on line. The reviews I had read on Angie's List were outstanding so I was very comfortable with her decision. I felt they were very responsive. An appointment for free estimate was set for the next day (Friday) which was surprising considering it was the Labor Day weekend. Installation was done the next week which was quicker than other companies we spoke with. The quote was also in line with other companies. The end result was very nice but I did have two issues with the installation. The first was during the installation. Both the bedrooms had been recently painted. In one of the bedrooms, the paint was scuffed in two different areas and had to be re-painted after the installers left. My daughter said she thinks it was from handling the rolls of carpet. Apparently they were not that careful. The other issue was the old carpet should have been rolled in 3 ft bundles so the city of Redford would pick it up. A few of the rolls were too long so the the city did not pick up any of the carpeting . Also, compounding the problem was the old molding strips were left at the curb with all the nails sticking out. I don't know of any city that picks up wood with nails sticking out. Consequently, we had to use a truck and dispose of everything ourselves. I might use Carpet Guys again but would make sure both this issues were discussed with a proposed resolution before I hired them.

I recently bought my house in Royal Oak and needed new carpet installed. I called around to a few places and finally decided on The Carpet Guys online and I'm glad I did. They were very friendly and courteous over the phone and were able to come out within a day to give me a quote. The sales rep that came out to my home was again friendly and professional. When it came to deciding what carpet I wanted, he was very knowledgeable and helpful and didn't force anything on me like some sales people do. Also, while he was here he gave me some advice on how to do my hardwood floors because I said I was probably going to refinish them myself. In the end, I had 3 bedrooms, stairs, and my family room addition done and I thought I would be paying a lot more than what I did considering the amount of space and the quality of the carpet that I chose. The installation went smoothly and was completed in a timely manner. I could have had them come out sooner than they did, but I had some other areas of the home I was working on as well. Overall, throughout the entire process there was nothing but professionalism, great customer service, and the quality of the work was excellent. I will definitely recommend this company to all of my friends and family.

The Carpet Guys did my carpeting in one oversized bedroom. Their response to an online request for an in-home estimate was within six hours. Their salesman was pleasant and knowledgeable and helped me pick out the right carpet for my needs. The price was reasonable for the top of the line product. The installers arrived on time and worked very quickly. Furniture moving and removal of the old carpeting was part of the price. When they removed my old carpeting, they found that part of my subfloor was severely water damaged. They were able to postpone installation until the next day, so that I could get the subfloor fixed. The following day, they installed the new carpeting.. They cleaned up after themselves very well. In all, I was extremely pleased with the job.

We read an article in The Macomb Daily about the best local companies in Metro Detroit and they had a very nice write up about The Carpet Guys. We needed some work done in our boat home in St Clair Shores. When the consultant came out to our house, he was chipper and friendly and easy to get along with from the very start. We were just looking for estimates and ideas at first, but were open minded as well to purchasing if the price was right.
We figured we would probably need to spend about $6,000 for all of the new carpet based on previous purchases. When we found the carpet we fell in love with "Heavenly" (perfect name too - it is sooooo soft!) we thought it would cost a small fortune because it is softer and much thicker than our old carpet (which was also not cheap by any means). To our surprise, the total price to remove our old carpet, move all of our furniture, and replace it with the new carpet was just under $5,000.00. DONE!
We then asked about adding hardwood to our dining area and sanding and refinishing our scratched up and heavily worn hardwood floors. He did explain that they were probably NOT the cheapest out there for the refinishing work, but that was due to the fact that they used higher quality and more expensive finishes that wore much better than the traditional ones. They also put an extra coat on as well making it last much longer than just one or two coats of floor finish.
After he measured it all up and showed us the other samples of the new hardwood for our dining area, we felt that the price was still pretty good and made a deal to do all three (new carpet, hardwood, and the dust free sanding and wood refinishing) for $7,856.00.
The Carpet Guys came out and did the hardwood work first and then wrapped up the refinishing within a couple days later. Once we saw how great the hardwood floors came out, we knew the carpet was also going to be amazing. The following day, the carpet was put in and it was in fact "Heavenly Carpet" - IT IS BEAUTIFUL!
We have a second home in Lansing as well as our St Clair Shores home in the Detroit Area and even though we are out of their coverage area, they agreed to come give us a quote up there as well. We used The Carpet Guys onc before and were very satisfid so we called them to come back when we needed to get more work done. Once again the Carpet Guys rep came out (Shawn) and gave us a great deal and then they put the new carpet in the next day. Our carpt really looks wonderful but what is vn more impressive is the way they conduct their businss. We have delt with other companies in the past but this company is WAY different. you can honestly tell that they really care about what they are doing and how happy the customer is long after the sale. We are so impressed with the way these guys did business that we even nominatd them for the best carpet store in Metro Deetroit in the Macomb Daily Newspaper. THEY WON THE FINAL VOTE TOO!! We recommend these guys highly.

We called The carpet Guys to install carpet in our master bedroom after we had them do the rest of our house just a few weeks ago. We were very happy with the last job they did so we called them again to do the rest. They were neat and professional he whole way through. The sales rep came out and gave us a free price quote with no obligation or high pressure like another company we had out the first time around. He answered all of our questions and was extremely helpful with the whole process. We have a pretty large master bedroom and were expecting to pay close to a grand for the job but he showed us a product that we really liked that they happen to have on sale so we went with it. Very happy we did! our new carpet looks fantastic and we really liked working with The Carpet Guys.

From he initial phone call with the girl from The Carpet Guys all the way through the final installation (2 days later) The carpet Guys did an incredible job for us. Our salesman was very friendly and helpful. He was in no way pushy or high pressure, in fact we even told him that we were not planning on buying from him that evening and he was completely fine with that and still spent 2 hours with us going over different samples and ideas. He answered all of our questions and then some, and by the time he left we both felt so comfortable with our selections and the price was over $1000 less than the quote we got from Empire that we just decided to go with them right then and there.
