The guy that come out to give us the estimate was extremely professional and had an outstanding attitude. We thought the price was more than fair. They did an excellent job, it was better then we anticipated. We are very satisfied with the service

Excellent work! High traffic floors which had not been refinished in over 20 years. Joe and team were awesome. Floors look great. They were on-time, work was done as promised, no mess/dust to clean up after job completion. I am very satisfied and happy. Price was competitive as well. Would highly recommend them.

My fiancé and I purchased our first home from an elderly woman in fall 2014. The house was built in 1955 and needed many updates. There was carpet throughout the entire house (living room, dining room, and all three bedrooms) but we were very happy to see that beautiful hardwood flooring was underneath all of it. We are so happy we decided to call Kapalua instead of trying to refinish the floors ourselves. Joe came out and gave us a quote and was very personable and friendly. We knew instantly that we would like working with Joe and Kapalua. He explained the different types of finishes and made recommendations. He also gave us line item quotes to help us stay in budget if needed. The lead time is long (up to 3 months). However, Joe found a time slot for us within a couple of weeks. They are busy for a reason! They use a dustless sanding system which cut down on our prep work and clean up. The crew that came out was fantastic! James led the crew and was punctual, friendly, and professional. He was a great point of contact throughout the entire process and worked with us to create a custom stain. They finished a few hours ahead of schedule which allowed us to walk on the floors (with socks) later that night. The floors looks absolutely amazing - what a difference it made in our house. I would highly recommend Kapalua and I will be using them in the future.

The refinisher matched up the flooring and color beautifully, as well as creating a nice transition between floors. I highly recommend Kapalua Flooring. I plan to have them refinish my hardwood floors upstairs in the future. I also appreciated the phone call I received when the refinisher was delayed due to inclement weather.

Started out with an estimate about 2-3 days after I initially called. Joe was on time to take a look, give me some additional information about my flooring (stuff I didn't know since I recently moved in), and make recommendations. I checked on other places but they either didn't have good reviews, didn't use water-based stains (huge difference!), or didn't do the work dustless. I had to schedule about 4 weeks out due to them being so busy. Pat came out, sanded/buffed/stained/sealed within 8 hours. Came back for about 2 hours the next day for another clear coat to seal. NO DUST. Couldn't believe it, but as Joe said initially, no dust. The floor looks absolutely great and I've had multiple compliments on it. These guys were a little more costly than some others per sq ft, but I think it was worth the price given the quality of work, quality of product, and that they met all my expectations.

It could not have gone better. From the initial contact with Joe months ago to Evan completing the job a week ago, there is one word- Pros. Outstanding on all counts. They removed the bevel in the boards of our old flooring, completely sanded it down (multiple passes) and kept at it until it was perfect. Dust? Zero. When they say dustless sanding- believe it. Just awesome. They put in new flooring which extended the old flooring into an area where we removed a couple walls. `It looks like it was always thee. The refinishing/finishing of the boards is so well done it's really remarkable. Evan came in every day and just got to work. He is highly skilled and had a lot of great ideas when little challenges presented themselves. I could not be more pleased. Do yourself a favor. If you have a floor that need to be installed or refinished- call these guys.

We recently purchased an old (166 year old) house which HAD pine floors that were in horrible condition. We had initially been told by another company that there was not much that could be done to improve the extremely worn, scuffed, uneven appearance. I did some additional research and based off of the excellent reviews, decided to get in contact with Kapalua floors for a second opinion. Joe showed up on time for our initial consultation, was friendly and extremely professional and knowledgeable. It was obvious that he took pride in his company and their services and assured us that they would be able to successfully refinish our floors. Cut to the chase, we could not be more happy with the end results. James and John did such an excellent job we could not believe the complete transformation that had taken place when they were done. We recently had family and friends over for a housewarming party and several family members who had seen the floors before thought we had them entirely replaced. We received so many compliments by our guests, especially by those who had seen the floors before and were completely shocked at how great they turned out. Overall we are extremely satisfied with the work Joe and his crew did and would highly recommend them to anyone. We have had many different people/companies in our house to do different jobs and this was by far the most professional and impressive company/people we have worked with.

Excellent work and excellent attitude. The Owner Joe was very knowledgeable and professional about the job. He came out to give an estimate only a few days after I called. Scheduling the work took about 3-4 weeks of lead time because they're very busy.James and John were the guys who did the actual work and they were unbelievably courteous, professional, and hard working. James in particular went above and beyond to have a good attitude and get the job done quickly and cleanly. The guys were here 8 or 9 hours a day for 3 days straight doing superb work. I would highly recommend the entire company. 6 Month Update: Floor is still in great shape after 6 months of family and pets. The water based sealant has proven very durable and very beautiful. I recently ran into the owner Joe at an airport and he remembered my business and was once again very polite.

We interviewed at least 4 companies off Angie's List referrals before deciding on our quote from Kapalua. Our job was 457 sq feet & included the living room/dining and hallway. Kapalua was mid-range $$ in the group of estimates and not the closest to our home. There quote was thorough and was provided with detailed written description of how to prepare for the refinish, how to care for the finished floors, and what was/was not included in the estimate -- all of which had been discussed during the bid process as well. After placing half down to secure our refinish date, we had unexpected issues arise & called to move the timeline twice before starting. It was never a problem for Kapalua to reschedule upon our request. We removed base boards in prep, and Kapalua left us poly to match when we replace the base boards ourselves. We are very happy with the job Pat at Kapalua did on our floors. The finished floors look fantastic. Upon arrival we discussed the work & Pat knew what we had agreed upon with Joe, who quoted the job 3 months earlier. We were in the midst of a remodel in another area of the home but the chaos had no effect on Pat's professionalism. Pat got right to work. All floor patches were installed flawlessly. Very low dust and odor. We are very picky about quality and had no issue with craftsmanship. Sanding is very even without ripples or grooves. Corners and door jams are consistent with the rest of the floor -- all look great. Pat was always courteous and neat. He arrived on time, worked continuously while onsite and we very much appreciate that he was able to finish before schedule without cutting corners. We have passed contact info onto friends already. We are very happy with the floors!

Joe and his crew are as good as it gets. Top notch professionalism and workmanship at a great price. Joe can answer all your questions and provide you excellent advice that will result in a fantastic looking floor. Five years later and my floor still looks great.

Working with Kapalua Floors was a pleasure from start to finish. Initial contact went quickly and smoothly. Joe came to our home and gave us a consultation and quote. Joe explained the process and answered all of our questions. We had already gotten 2 other quotes and we hired him on the spot. The Kapulua crew showed up at the appointed day and time and quickly got to work. They were very neat, polite, professional and efficient. The process was truly dust free. My floors now look amazing. My only regret is that we didn't do this sooner!

We got three estimates for this job. All three estimates were close to each other and Kapalua Floors was right in the middle.The work was a three day process. Joe left me with instructions on what to remove from the rooms as well as material on what to do and expect after the job was finished and how to care for our refinished floors. With Joe's advice, we chose an oil based finish in order to get a better match between the newly refinished floors and the old wood floors original to the house (1924) which we were not sanding and refinishing. On the first day of the job two small sections of the floor were sanded and stains were applied so that we could approve the color. This is an important part of the process and we was not rushed, which I appreciated. Then my husband and I left town, returning a few days after the job was completed. I was quite surprised that there was almost no dust .... their dustless system works!! And the floors looked beautiful! There is a little stain on the white woodwork in the kitchen/breakfast room area, which is to be expected and we intended to paint this woodwork afterward. Everything else looks great. I will be happy to recommend Kapalua to our friends who are planning to refinish their floors.

We went with Kapalua because my wife and daughter have numerous sensitivities; we heard about "dust free" sanding and their low VO sealant. From start to finish, everything went well. The floor did initially have a pretty strong smell (like nail polish remover), but it off-gassed very quickly. It's now the next day, and it doesn't have much of a smell at all. Floor looks absolutely beautiful. They are quite reasonably priced, courteous, and professional. I have no reservations about using Kapalua again or recommending them to someone else.

The project was started on time and ended several days ahead of schedule. The workers are fabulous. Very professional, courteous and respectful of your home. Evan is the best. He is the guy you want on your project! This was the second time we used Kapalua and referred our neighbors as well. The first time we contemplated getting hardwood we interviewed 12 companies and ended up with Kapalua. We couldn't have been happier. When we decided to do additional hardwood we went directly to Kapalua and din't consider anyone else.

From the first contact, things went smoothly. The estimate was done in a timely manner. We set a date for the work to be done and James showed up on time and got to work. It took one day longer than we anticipated due to weather conditions (humidity) issues with drying/curing. This was not anything that could be prevented. James kept us informed as the project progressed. The floors look fantastic! There were some areas that had some water damage and he corrected those. James is a true artist. Everything was cleaned up afterwards. We are very happy with our floors and would recommend Kapalua Floors and James to anyone.

Extremely talented and professional worker arrived on time each day, kept us up to date on progress, did a repair in a timely manner. I will hire them again in the future!

In process now! Very friendly staff! Everyone arrives on time and the work look fantastic so far! Work will take about a total of three days to complete. They were able to squeeze me in, in time for our moving date. We wanted the floors upstairs done before moving day. I plan to use them again when we remodel our kitchen. We had three other quotes and they were the mid-price but the most professional.

Kapalua floors did an outstanding job! I'm very picky about work on my house and I was very impressed with the quality of their work and their attention to detail. I did some shopping around and their price was a lot less than most others. Not the absolute lowest, but less than average and they worked more days than some of the lowest priced quotes said it would take to do the job. I really feel that the additional time that they put into doing a quality job more than made up for them not being the lowest price. they are easy to work with and adjust their work day to your needs. The manager, Joe, is always available to talk or email. The crew we had included James, Jon and Evan and they were nice young gentlemen who worked very hard and knew what they were doing. I've told my friends about them and would recommend them to anyone.

Kapalua repaired, re-finished and stained the hardwood floors in an upstairs hallway, 2 bedrooms and the stairway. The floors really look terrific. We can't tell where the repairs were made, they blend in so well. James, Evan and John were a pleasure to work with. Always on time and they cleaned up after themselves. We were amazed at the lack of dust from the sanding. We will gladly use them again.

Everything went as planned. Communicaition was very easy. All the persons I dealt with were super polite and always worried about my needs and doubts.

We couldn't be happier!! Several years ago we had our floors refinished by another company and it was a disaster. Sander marks around the perimeter and door ways, dust in the finish and MOUNTAINS OF DUST EVERYWHERE!! It took several days of clean-up after they completed the floors and we vowed "never again." We were initially attracted to Kapalua Floors by their web site that advertised "dustless" refinishing. Joe came to our home, measured and discussed the process, assuring us it would be as dustless as possible. As an amateur woodworker, I know how much dust can be generated from just a small project let alone 800 sq ft of hardwood flooring, so I really didn't take his claims as seriously as he did. He completed his estimate and emailed it to us within a day and it was as competitive as the other two bids we received PLUS we were assured that it would be dustless. Joe called a few weeks later and asked if they could come a week earlier than originally scheduled and we were happy to get the job started before schedule. His crew of three arrived right on time each of the four days of the project, even calling us one day to tell us they would be a few minutes late due to traffic. Each day they told us what they would be doing that day and at the end of the day would tell us what they would be doing next and the schedule for the upcoming day. The crew was on-time, courteous, and very professional. At the end of each day they cleaned up the work site and stored all of their equipment neatly. And the best part is the finished product, AND IT WAS DUSTLESS!!!! The floor came out gorgeous, no sander marks anywhere and not a speck of dust in the final finish. We have planation shutters throughout the house and we wiped them down after they left, along with the countertops. There was no more dust than you would see if you went a week without dusting. It was great! We've already recommended Kapalua Floors to our Son for his floor refinishing. Thank you Kapalua Floors for a great finish and easy clean-up. If we could give you and A+++ we'd do it. Was advertised as dust free and in fact it was!! The only way to have your floors refinished. The service men were very professional and took time to explain every process in detail. They did great work, never felt like they rushing just to get the job done. Told us when they would come and when they would leave. Their finished product/work is superb!!!!!! Would definitely hired them again!!!

The job was fabulous!. I was in the process of moving into my new home and thought that I would not be able to have the floors finished before I moved it. But I was wrong. Joe from Kapalua Floors came out. He was very professional and knowledgeable. I called him the next day to schedule an appointment and he told me that they just had a cancellation and could start the next day. So I moved my move in date by a week and it was the best decision I ever made. The floors look fabulous and I didn't have to move my furniture twice. I really liked the gentlemen that did the actual work as they were very knowledgeable and spent a lot of time answering all of my questions. I would definitely use this company again and have recommended them to a number of friends.

They were a very professional company who completed the job on time and budget. They were exceptionally responsive to inquiries both before and during the work. Their workers were entirely professional on the job site and left no mess behind. The results were excellent with our floors to include replacing two boards which now appear seamless with the original flooring. Their price for the job was the best we could find after consulting with nine total contractors for the same job.
