+ -1 moreScheduled an estimate over the phone; waited 1 hour for him to show, when I called to see if he was coming, apparently he had confused my appointment with another client. Rescheduled for next morning; wife called and asked for address (didn't seem to have written any of my contact information down from the initial call). Came to my home, did about 20-30 minute walk-through, went over several small scale projects, such as hanging doors, installing recessed lighting. Stated he would go home work on the estimate and forward the next day. It has been a week and 2 days, still have not received call or email. Needless to say, I've moved on. Probably saved me a lot of aggravation!

+ 0 moreDoug was great to work with. He called when he said he was going to. He was very reliable in showing up and working. He did a tremendous amount of work in a short time. His price was reasonable and less than other estimates that we had received. He and his assistant performed the work excellently and professionally. Even after we discovered that further work needed to be done to complete the job, Doug explained our options and the approximate costs. We feel very confident in the work he did and we would happily recommend him to anyone else. We are relatively new to the area and it is nice to find someone that we can trust for further problems.
Description of Work: Our plumbing was leaking in our bathroom that was constructed on a concrete slab. Doug agreed to fix the drain pipes under the cement. The job became larger as they pulled up the cement to discover that some of the dirt foundation was never compacted and had settled in a small area. A large job became larger. Doug fixed the plumbing. Doug gave us several options to fix the minor structural defect and we ended up pouring cement to support the structure where it was unsupported.

+ -1 moreDoug was punctual and got to work right away. The first gas line he used had a leak in it, and he stayed to make sure the replacement line was good and there were no more leaks. The pipe he installed for the garbage disposal wound up being a little too long and we had some leakage, but he was quick to come back the next day and cut it down and fix the problem right away. Very satisfied!
Description of Work: Doug installed a new gas cooktop for us--including cutting the existing hole in the countertop larger to accommodate the size required. While he was here, on a whim we asked him to install a new garbage disposal, which included replacing a leaking existing pipe under the sink.

+ 0 moreOverall experience was GREAT. I will hire him again to do work. I'm VERY Pleased with the job he did. I did have to pay $50.00 more than the bid but Doug discussed it with me. The outside wall needed insulation in it and if I wanted he would pick it up. He is the first contractor that I have had work on my house and stayed right on the money with the bid, except for the insulation, which he wouldn't have known till the wall was removed.
Description of Work: Doug Shebby Fenton, MI., contact # 248-515-0439 and 810-208-0926 I had Doug remodel my bathroom completely and make it a little larger. Everything had to be removed and a wall moved back into another room. He had to redo the plumbing, he had to go under the house in a crawl space and do this. I wanted a different type ceiling so he had to go into the attic in order to get that done. He picked up from the store all the things I had to go & pick out, flooring, vanity including sink, light fixture and medicine cabinet, & toilet. He included the bathtub in his bid and he brought that. Redid the walls & painted them & ceiling. He had a worker with him, they were both very courteous, prompt and always polite. They always told me what time they would be to work the next day and was here. They cleaned up every day, before they left.

+ 3 moreIt turned out good! There were two workers here for about eight and a half hours. I think that was a very reasonable cost for the time they spent here. We had insulation put in our garage last year. There was drywall that was starting to leak into the sides. We were afraid that it was too heavy and would eventually fall down. They put some boards up to make it more sturdy and give it more support. They also scraped some ceiling paint and applied some primer. They also moved our garage door opened to the middle because it was off to the side. We had two eight foot floursecent lights that they installed and secured to the ceiling. They swept up the floor when they were finished, but our floor is pitted and there were some pieces of paint and dust still around the edges. They covered the floor with a tarpe, but not around the edges. They did clean up, but my husband thought they could clean up a little better. I liked how everytime we tried to get in touch with him, he either answered his cell phone or called us right back. He came right on time for the estimate and for the work. It was a whole lot of work and they did a good job! We were very happy with them and would call them again.

Description of Work: Doug performed a myriad of services. He repaired the garage roof, a rotted wooden fence, installed a new chain link fence and gates, repaired sections of our deck, painted the entire deck, and restored an artisan door.

+ -1 moreFwd to 2012, a year later. I get a call from the tenant; mold was back so I called him to ask about it. He came out to look at it, but according to the tenant, he did not look very closely. I called him again. He went to the house again and did a more thorough assessment. He noted that the vent from the fan he installed had been fussed with when the roof was replaced, and that was the reason for the mold recurring. The roofing company and he ended up talking it over, and the roofing company ended up just taking care of it and fixing the vent and the mold situation. At an additional cost to me. He blamed the roofers that I had hired after him. Charged me $700 for the work that he did, and really wasn?t very receptive to helping me a year later. I was disappointed that he didn't stand by his work. He was basically doing a cosmetic job. He should've done a more thorough job in the first place.
Description of Work: I had a contractor work on some mold that was growing in the bathroom of my rental property. He installed an exhaust fan that would help combat further mold growth.

Description of Work: Installed sink drains from new undermount sink to the floor drain. This included the pvc pipes to the sink and the dishwasher drain. He had to extend the water lines upwards to meet the connection for the new faucet.

Description of Work: Doug did a great job on repairing and painting our deck. He was prompt,quick and very considerate of our dog who wanted to " help" him. He under estimated the amount of paint but did not charge me forthe two extra gallons. The wood was very dry and soaked lots of paint. I did pay him for the extra paint however because I appreciated his wanting to stick to his original estimate saying it was his fault, not mine that the estimate was in error.

+ 3 moreDay 1: Doug and his helper arrived at 9:00. They began on re-working the kitchen sink & dishwasher plumbing. Also, they removed the radiant heater and bled the line. They began running the gas line. They left around 6pm. Day 2: Doug arrived around 9:00. They ran the line for the icemaker and completed the gas line. They also installed the drywall. They removed the old tile in the entryway. They left around 6pm. Day 3: Doug arrived around 9:00. They began to mud the walls and then installed the hardyboard throughout the kitchen, dining room and entryway. Day 4: Doug arrived around 9:00. They began to lay the tile. They finished laying the time around 5:30. They applied another coat of mud to the walls. Day 5: Doug arrived around 9:30am. They applied another coat of mud to the wall. They grouted the kitchen. They cleaned up and left around 4:30.
Description of Work: I had Doug come out and give me a quote on installing ceramic tile. He came out the same day I called him. His quoted us $1660 for the 340 square foot area. He was to remove about a 75' area of tile that was existing, the rest was already removed. This included hardyboard and everything needed to complete the job except the tile. I provided the tile, he provided everything else (grout, mortar, etc). When we removed the old kitchen cabinets, there was some plumbing that needed to be re-worked, a radiant heater that needed to be removed, as well as we wanted to add in a gas line for a new stove, run a water line for my icemaker, and have someone drywall an entire wall and about 1/3 of two more walls (there was a soffit all the way around the kitchen that was removed and it left just the studs). So I called Doug back out and asked him to quote the plumbing too. He came out the next day and gave me a quote for the entire job (tile work and plumbing). I set up a date and the rest is history. He blocked off the entire week for my project. He arrived Monday - Friday at 9am and left most days between 5 and 6. Everything was as I expected. I would just make sure that you really lay out who is going to do what. All the tile that was removed from the entryway is in a pile in my garage. I thought he would take it, but, come to find out, nope.

My husband and I were at the office when he did the work, and when we came home there were a couple adjustments we wanted him to make. I called him and he came out the next day and made the adjustments, no questions asked. Very professional and responsive. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend him.
Description of Work: We contacted Doug to do some deck repair and fix the front steps to our home. We have a hole cut out in the deck where a tree grows and the tree had grown so much we needed to make the opening bigger, and this involved cutting into some of the support beams. For our front steps, the pavers had settled and were uneven and a couple of the large steps were rocking, making it dangerous.

+ 0 moreMaster Handyman Service, Doug Shebby, contact number is 810-208-0926 I called 1 day and Doug came out the next morning. He was right on time introduced himself and started on the jobs I had told him about on the phone, which was a plugged toilet and told him I needed some estimates on a couple other jobs, which he fixed that same day. The other jobs were to fix the entrance of the front door to be able to get my Mom in and out of the house in the wheelchair easier on her and us and their hot water was way to hot. He unplugged the toilet, told us we needed new plungers and where he had gotten his at. He fixed the hotwater heater and showed me how to do it myself and told us what to do to stop the hot water heater from going out. Which is to add a 30" vent for the hot water heater on to the one that was on the roof. Told him the roof was going to be redone this Spring, and he told me that if the roofers wouldn't fix it while redoing the roof to call him and he would come out and do it. I would definitely use him again and recommend him to others. He was a true blessing because we have been what I call overcharged so many times. He was very courteous and friendly. He doesn't try to sell or add extra work to be done. Very trustworthy.
Description of Work: Doug unplugged a toilet which was off my parents bedroom, (my parents live in their own house and need 24 hour care) we had tried but couldn't get the job done he suggested we get a a new plunger and where he got his from. He fixed by the front door to make it easier to get my Mom in and out of the house in a wheelchair. He adjusted the hot water heater and also showed me how to do it and gave me a suggestion on how to stop the hot water heater from going out, and if we had any problems getting the roofers to fix it just to call him and he would come out and do it.

+ -1 moreWe just moved into a house that is 23 years old. We went over the inspectors report. He helped me to decide what to do and was down to earth about it. Parts were $500 and Labor was $2500. I felt as if I were over charged by about $1000.
Description of Work: Fixed exposed wires, fixed light switches, sealed shower door, caulked bathroom, fixed asfault in driveway, replaced filters, redirected dryer vent thru the roof instead of exhausting into garage, redirected water softener house and air conditioning hose.
