Doug's Handyman Service

I needed a bathroom remodel for a small bathroom. I believe Doug took on more than he could handle. He said 4 days which took 6 days. He even told me on the last day he rushed to get out of here because he was tired. Well here's what happened. He uses a lot of caulk to cover up mistakes. The caulk around the standup shower on one side is already cracking. He only put 1 coat of paint on. So you see all the brush strokes and the spots where paint comes through. I mentioned something. And no response!!! He didn't even paint the shelf's in the closet. Here's the really bad part. The TILE FLOOR!!! Omg... It is so uneven. A couple corners are sticking up. Tiles are wavy due to not being even. First week grout was cracking and was coming out in pieces. Doug is very good about responding. I text him about the problem and he came to fix it. He took a grinder to the grout and refilled it. That made it worse. Grout line's are much larger then others. Corners he tried putting grout higher to fill in. Grout is on titles in areas that I cant get off. Grout is 2 different colors in spots. Being floor so wavy he put caulk between tile and floor board to hide it on those pieces. It's a total disaster!! So I text him about it. Didn't hear from him. 3 days later text him again nothing. End of week I text him that he's left me no choice but to go to CIVIL COURT!! Boy 2 minutes later he called. I thought I was being nice by offering to buy the tile again and give him $200. Or he can pay 1/2 for someone else to do it. He said he'd get back to me. Haven't heard a word!! I'm a very easy person to get along with. Him and I got along. So I don't understand why he has an attitude. Other than he can't do it??? So CIVIL COURT I go. First time I've used Angies list. And this is a top rated Comp. I don't know????

It went very well. Doug arrived on time and got to work right away. He finished the job in a timely fashion and was very polite and accommodating. I will definitely hire him again.

Never returned call. End of story. Understand busy but don’t completely blow off.

Things went very well. Job was done on time, my kitchen looks wonderful. He was professional and very polite. Answered all my many questions quickly. Answered or returned my phone calls promptly. This experience was great and I am going to have him back to do my bathroom next. Thanks Doug for a great job.

Great work, outside light wires cemented into wall, he took time to get undone. Came over on a Sunday to replace basement light fixture, that was a ***** to change but he got it. Great work.

We were able to talk to him direct and he completed the job the next day.

I've left two messages for him in the last week and he has yet to return my call. If he was too busy or just couldn't take on another job right now you would think he would at least afford you the courtesy of a return call.

Excellent. He not only stopped it but made sure to put a metal instead of a plastic part for the part that was broken. He really took care of our problem and was willing to come ASAP if there was a leak.

Doug is great! He does excellent drywall work and is so detail oriented!

It went well - especially during the very busy season in the spring as folks are working on their homes throughout the area.

Well. Doug showed up promptly and made sure I was happy with his work.

I spoke to Doug and setup a time to meet at my house. I had to take time off work to get this done. Doug never showed up or called. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL!!! I have no idea why Angies list rated him so high. If someone can't even call to say they could not make it, how could you trust their work?

When I called to hire him, I left message and he never returned my call, so he of course wasn't hired. His answering machine message was completely unprofessional also so wasn't impressed.

See above. We have had poor luck with contractors on Angie's List. Sorry we renewed it.

He must be too busy. Not a great way to run a business. Also disappointed in Angies list for putting him at the top iof the recommended list.

NO CONTACT, MISSED APPOINTMENT WITH NO CALL.

They was terrible. I purchased a handyman Big Deal for 2 hours of work. I haven't used Angie's List since then. If smoked in my garage without asking. He cut something short and he gouged my cupboard when he put the microwave in. He was listed as an A provider. I had a list but I don't think he finished anything but installing the microwave. He looked at stuff on the list and said he couldn't fix it at this time and could come back at a later time. I had sent him an email stating that he might not be able to do everything in the amount of time but never got a response back. I could of had someone else install the microwave for what the cost of the big deal was. He put up some trim and cut one piece to short and the other piece he must have used saw at the spot and gouged my drywall. I would not recommend him.

He did an excellent job in refinishing my door. It looks brand new. He's excellent, very business like and very personable.

They are professional and great to work with. I have nothing but good things to say about them and their work.

Went well he got everything done in about 1 1/2 hours. The toilet work was more than it seemed, the previous handyman service (21st century window) which worked at my house had fixed the loose toilet seat, by actually using caulk to tighten the seat (stupid). But Doug's Handymen was able to successfully remove the old cover and raised seat and clean up the huge mess the previous handymen service (21st) had done. Doug's handyman quickly and accurately fixed the kitchen faucet leak. He did a very good job of cleaning up after himself, did not leave a mess. It's been 7 months now, no issues, toilet seat still tight and kitchen faucet still leak free. I would use his service again.

The results were excellent, and our home looks like new.

It was fine. I had a list of things for them to do, including some outside work, patching some holes, & repairing some cabinets. There were two techs that came out and they were very nice.

It went fine. He is good, a little bit expensive, but good like any handyman.
